I've never had a bad meal here so I assumed the salads were great, but tonight's dinner proved otherwise. I ordered a Cobb that came with no blue cheese, which our server recognized immediately. She brought out a side of cheese which was very nice. It came in HUGE chunks which was wonky but I broke them up and it was okay. In my first bite I tasted rotten egg. When I mentioned it to my friend she said she could smell rotten egg. I hardly ever complain about food or send something back, but this egg was clearly past its prime. Our server (she was awesome btw) took care of the situation and got me a new salad in no time. This time, the lettuce was wet. Really really wet. I love that they wash the lettuce for salads at Bar West but wet lettuce is just unappealing. We will be back but definitely will avoid the salad from now on. Sadly I left hungry. Well the good about this place was the waitstaff was nice and friendly and delivered the food fast. That's the only plus though. The food was pretty gross. Not good at all. They allow people to smoke outside with the main doors open so you basically get lung cancer from all the second hand smoke that you breathe in. I'm digging the vibe here! I came in a grabbed a table. It took a little while to get service, and it wasn't that busy. I think they cater to the regulars. I got the fried cheese curds to start. These were some of the best I've had. Delicious! I got the mushroom onion burger (with no onions, so it was more of a mushroom swiss. It is coated in a garlic buttermilk sauce that overpowers the rest of the burger. Next time I'll ask for that on the side. The burger was cooked well, and the fries were irresistible! Couldn't figure out what I wanted for dinner, and then I remembered Bar West is close by. When I worked in Mission I frequented that location and always loved the food. The location has the same feel, wood booths, nice bar area, good little patio, great servers, and specials. Let me tell you that if you get an order to go, it is treated with the same care as if you dined in. All of my food was perfect when I got home, and I have enough to last for several meals, which is just a bonus lol. read more

A friend of mine recommended this place as she frequents so much, they know her by name. With that being said, I had to try! I've personally never been to the location, but I have visited a food spot next to it and it seems to be very spacious with plenty of parking especially during the day. We ordered a Buffalo chicken wrap, Buffalo ranch on the side so we could control the sauce amount as well as the spice, extra ranch on the side and a couple tator tots (clearly eaten before the photo was taken). Surprisingly for as simple as it is, the chicken had a delicious grilled flavor, lettuce super crisp, cheese delish and the Buffalo sauce had a little tanginess to it that just pulled everything together. A nice little sports bar that's located in a strip mall just off the highway, right next to the hotel we were staying at. Went in for lunch and had the daily special, which was a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and fries for $12! All of the prices are very reasonable, especially as someone coming in from Colorado! We also tried the cheese curds, wings, and loaded fries. The sandwich was packed full of steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and cheese! The steak was tender and well seasoned. The fries were fresh cut, hot, crispy, and way too salty, lol. They were still good, though. The cheese curds were hot crispy and creamy. Seasoned with what looked like parsley, they were also delicious. Wings were perfectly cooked! Hot, crispy outside with a juicy, well cooked center. The loaded fries were the same. Good, not great. A little salty, but git evened out by the cheese and sour cream toppings. Above all, the server was sooooo nice! The food came out incredibly fast and fresh! We were very impressed!! This place always impresses me! My wife and I grabbed an early dinner and tried the potato skins which they don't mess around. They use the full potato and doctor it up and hit on the broiler and they were a meal in themselves. We both did their bacon cheeseburger special for $10 and it was one of the best burgers I've had and also included hand cut fries which were cooked perfectly! The server was very prompt and super nice and the overall appearance of the restaurant was very clean and tidy! I ventured to Bar West out of pure luck. My boyfriend and I were driving around looking for a new bar to try. We stumbled up Bar West and it was a great experience. We went on a Saturday around 3-4. They have a small patio out front and the inside is actually quite larger. (Much bigger than I was expecting) The bar set up is fun. They have giant (fake) alcohol bottles on some shelves and I just enjoyed how tidy everything was. Lucky for us, we got to Bar West in time to enjoy some food happy hour specials. They have $5 food specials and $6 food specials. I was craving pretzel sticks and they had some on their $6 food menu. The pretzels came out and MAN OH MAN were they good! Fresh, hot and soft. Just like a pretzel should be. The cheese was great too... not your typical yellow beer cheese. It reminded me of melted pepper jack. It had a little spice to it. Overall, I was impressed. The bartenders were friendly and chatty. The place filled up as the hours passed. I will definitely go again to try the cheese curds or quesadillas. read more

I have always been a fan of this place but will not be back until the Covid pandemic is over. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was maskless more often than not. Even when she was wearing her mask, it was rarely over her nose--and often completely down around her chin/neck. Patrons should not have to ask bar/restaurant staff to follow and respect BASIC Covid protocol. Makes one wonder where else this place is slacking on keeping its customers safe during a pandemic. I have been to a handful of other restaurants and bars recently, and the staff at those establishments have UNIFORMLY work their masks properly when interacting with customers and handling food and drink. I'm sorry to see that one of my "go-to" places near my home apparently can't be bothered to show the same respect to its patrons. read more

I'm not one to leave negative reviews but this must be said. We stopped by on NYE there was 2 employees working and it was busy. The bartender obviously was new and had been thrown into the position because she had no clue what she was doing. She had a terrible attitude rightfully so. Who only schedules 2 employees on NYE? Talking to some of the other customers I guess this is a regular thing. The bartender was not friendly or knowledgeable. We went back a few nights later she was working again & it was dead but she still had a shitty attitude and definitely is in the wrong profession. We were going to eat but the kitchen was closed at 915 pm. I wanted to love this place because it's close to my new apt. But the staff is not welcoming or knowledgeable in making basic drinks. Went in based on the rec of the hotel staff across the street. Got the 1/2 pound burger which was cooked as I asked (Medium). Hand cut fries were hot and tasty. I have been here countless times and I have always had wonderful service. Unfortunately tonight that changed. We were a group of 6 and we were not asked if we wanted a drink, we had to go order it ourselves. The bartender didn't speak, didn't smile didn't really acknowledge our existence at all. It was the same scenario for the other tables. The bartender clearly didn't want to be there and he just wanted to go home. He started shutting things down about 30 minutes prior to close. Fair enough and totally acceptable. What is not acceptable is one he did not offer the customers last call, which personally I don't care. I had one drink and I was not drinking anymore however professionally speaking that is just bad business. Secondly the bartender proceeded to roll up the floor mat and left it smack in the middle of the walkway leading to the bathrooms. I watched three people trip, myself included. This is a liability and is dangerous and is not acceptable. My go to bar has now become a thing of the past. read more

Some friends gave us a Living Social for this place and we finally made it there today. We went in for dinner on a Sunday evening at about 6pm. Place wasn't overly crowded, but it wasn't empty either. Initial impression was, OK, it's a bar in a strip mall. We'll be eating mediocre bar food, but hopefully the burgers and fries aren't too bad and hey, it was a gift. We were pleasantly surprised. We started with the nachos appetizer (with beef), They were plentiful and had lots of chopped tomatoes & onions, black beans, ground beef, and sour cream (which requested and received on the side). My (Mexican) husband said the best part was that the chips were freshly made. I wasn't blown away by the nachos but they were definitely good and slightly above my expectations. I would definitely go back for drinks and order the nachos again. Best part...our entrees - beginning with my son's who ordered the bacon smoked cheddar burger with fries. I tried a few of the fresh-cut fries from his plate and they were awesome! I know different people like their fries prepared different ways, but these made all three of us happy. The burger was huge and my 13 year old with a super size appetite couldn't even finish it all. My husband ordered the Southwest burger. I included a picture of it because we were so blown away. This thing was huge! Not only was it huge, it earned the following description from my very picky husband, "fresh and amazing". Lastly, I went out on a limb ordering something that could have been a huge flop, especially taking into consideration the surroundings, which were cozy and inviting, but nevertheless, there was no mistaking that we were in a BAR. The 8oz. KC Strip was priced reasonably at $15 and came with parmesan, garlic, horseradish spuds (mashed potatoes), grilled asparagus, and blvd. pale ale-battered red onion rings. I ordered the steak medium (sad, I know), but it was cooked perfectly and still very juicy and flavorful. Asparagus had that great grill taste and was just the right amount of crispy. Potatoes were good, not amazing, but good. And the onion rings pretty much melted in my mouth. The presentation was really nice for this entree and I should have taken a picture. You'll just have to take my word for it. We will definitely be returning to Bar West. read more

Bar West is not far from my home and many of my friends have made it a regular drinking spot but after buying a groupon or something similar my hubby and I decided to try it out for lunch. The lunch crowd is pretty much non-existent so there is no wait staff, just a bar tender, but she did a fine job serving us. I had the BLT and thought it was really good. The fries were good when they first came out and were piping hot but once they cooled off they were just mediocre. Guess next time I'll eat them first :-) My husband had a chicken sandwich and also thought it was good. Given the other choices in that area I'm not sure I'd go back if I didn't have a coupon - if paying full price I'd pick Barley's over Bar West. But with a Val Pak coupon which they seem to have frequently, I'd go back. read more
