First time here and I like how spacious and clean it is. Ordering was simple. Got a single patty burger with tots and a small cherry limeade. Everything came out hot, fresh and tasty. The burger is smash grass fed. So tasty. Our cashier was nice and attentive too. read more

I kept driving by the place after work but one after the gym I was really hungry. The sign says grass fed Beef Burgers, so I stopped by and ordered a Double patty burger, onion rings and cheese sticks. I was amazed how big, guicy and meaty this burger was! The meat actually tasted like meat, unlike the fast food chains. The onion rings perfect and the cheese sticks were huge. Price point is okay but this will be my new burger place! read more

Hands down Best burger place in KCMO. Sometimes you just love a good burger with a shake an fries and this is my go to place! I love ordering the bacon jalapeño burger and a customizable shake for my end of work week treat! read more

The food was good. The italian steak got smaller. But the burgers are still about the same. My husbands meal came with a drink. And they forgot to give us that. Had to ask for it at the window. The guy that took our order was kind of rude. Have gone here for years. And drive from Independence. But may nor be coming back. read more

Would recommend this place. Burgers were great and the counter service was pleasant. Asking if we needed anything extra, manager was upbeat and keeping the kitchen smooth. Sorry no pictures of the burgers but it looked like the others on the FB site. Another reviewer had the comment that they put the tip machine in front of you and yes they do. Not my favorite ask while buying a fast food burger. read more

I don't know how it's possible for any restaurant to screw up a pickup order as they did. I've been going there off and on for decades but I'll never ever go back. Clearly they're on their way out of business. Do not waste your time at this place anymore. read more

The owners are pretty disappointing. I have loved this place for 25 years. Many have loved it longer. For a drive through, the food is great and the burgers are top notch. The service? Oof. They keep it so understaffed that wait times for everything are terrible. The actual workers (2 of them, tops, every time) are surprisingly patient and nice. They are way overworked and need help. Owners need to pay for staff. read more

Return visit today for a drive thru and ordered the Classic Big Cheese Burger. It came with everything except pickles which, I requested to be added but unless they were chopped finely like the onions, I couldn't detect even one. I didn't realize the pickles were not there until I got it home and rewarmed. Great tasting anyway. The server offered my toy poodle Peaches her own cup of vanilla ice cream which besides the delicious burger and fries, made the trip very special. She was very personable and courteous! Thank you. read more

Service was kind of slow in the drive thru despite only 1 other car in line. Staff was nice but the food was terrible. Burger patty not all the way done and the fries tasted like they were made in old grease used for something else. Price was reasonable but the drive thru was a little sketchy. Again, staff was nice!! Food and drive thru was subpar. read more

First visit = wish I would have drove on to Steak n Shake as originally planned. I stopped through the drive thru for a quick lunch. I ordered my meal and repeated it several times to make sure she understood. When I got to my destination I opened my bag only to realize they got my order wrong. I called the restaurant to let them know and the gentleman was very rude and sarcastic. This was my first and last visit. Don't waste your time or money! I paid $11 for a meal I can't eat and to be treated like a idiot. read more

I like to hunt down the places that look like total dives from the outside because sometimes you can find the absolute best food there. This is not one of those places. Been here twice and regretted each time. First time I had the "Italian steak" and the second time the "spicy" chicken. Not sure I would be able to tell the two apart on a blind taste test. Both sandwiches were very bland with a sparse scattering of sad veggies. I think the Italian may have had something resembling sauce, not too sure though. In the end, this place is all rough, no diamond. read more

Don't waste your time, tastebuds or money here. Ordered two sandwiches, drink & tater tots. Before pulling out of the lot, we checked the bag & found only one burger and tots were in the bag. Turned around in the lot and went back to the drive through & explained at the speaker that one was missing. Was told to pull around to the window. When I arrived at the window, I handed the lady my receipt & then she said she would need my bag as well. So, I gave her the bag. After several minutes, another lady comes to the window and in an accusatory manner, informed me that my order was packed & watched by the owner via camera and that the owner witnessed 2 burgers put in the bag. I asked to speak to the owner at that time. Another lady came to the window with the owner on her cell phone telling me that two burgers were put in the bag & that she would be glad to call the police for me blocking the drive through. What?! I was not offered a replacement burger, or even a decent attitude from the employees and owner via phone. I handed them back everything that they had given me and drove off. That was my first and only time going to that place. read more

Used to love going here, DO NOT GO HERE, they have changed so much, of all the restaurants that closed due to this pandemic this is one I would not care if they did, they are horrible, I was just going to get a ice cream and finally got to the order window and waited for 10 min and just left, the lobby is not open and it does not surprise me if they have that crappy customer service no wonder why they cannot keep help, no one wants to come work in that environment. Very sad, this used to be the SPOT! Now it's just an after thought! Would NOT recommend read more

They took the Junior Double off the menu. I did get the bigger burger and it was delicious! I was pretty annoyed that when I gave my card to pay through the drive thu they handed me the card reader for a tip.. I won't be going back there for this reason. read more

Big Burger? The bun was considerably larger than the 2 premade sliders. The bacon was bland and not worth the upcharge. Everyone raves about their onion rings, they say if they are hot they are great and cold/lukewarm suck. We got just above room temperature. They got a second star because the burger was hot. The old lady running the drive through was short in dealing with her and had the attitude that she was doing us a favor for spending our money there. Will not go back there is another local small business to the south of them on the same street. read more

First time here. JR double cheese. Under five bucks. The burgers had a good crispy crust on meat like a good smash burger. Meat nicely seasoned. I always do the double for better meat to bread ratio and the junior was plenty big. Not sure on the ratings the lady was very nice when I asked what the "sauce" was that. Ones on burger because I do t like sweet pickle relish type sauce. Basically ketchup mustard mix. I added Mayo. Definitely will go again great value. Great taste read more

I have one of those friends who never eats. She eats like a bird and she never really gets cravings. I often wonder why she is my friend. lol. When she made a bee line for Big Burger when we were in the neighborhood, I was shocked. My friend also never eats lunch and this was lunchtime. I thought I had fallen into the Twilight Zone. My super skinny friend craved onion rings for lunch. : This place has a simple menu and that's just fine with me. I was not really hungry but thought I would try the food anyway. I am sucker for those mom-and-pop burger stands and this looked like it was just my kinda place. I ordered the onion rings and a cheeseburger. My friend ordered LARGE onion rings. I knew then this place had to be good. She gobbled her onion rings up in no time. I wanted to wait until they had cooled off. She kept imploring me to eat them as soon as possible. She insisted they did not taste as good when they were cool. I resisted and waited until we got to her house. Yum, yum, yum. My friend was wrong. They tasted just as good slightly cool then they would have warm. These were the best onion rings I had ever tasted. Cannot begin to tell you how crunchy and delicious these were. These were not your typical standard cookie cutter franchise breaded onion rings. I immediately saw what was driving my friend crazy about this food. My cheeseburger was divine. Fresh, handmade. It was absolutely luscious. It was everything a cheeseburger should be. The ingredients were fresh and nothing was pre-made. The second vice was prompt, friendly and professional. I will definitely go back again and again. What a wonderful gem of a restaurant. Do not be alarmed by the appearance of this place. Apparently, it has been in the neighborhood forever. It looks it, too. There is nothing modern, fancy, trendy or sparkly about this restaurant. Some of my favorite restaurants have been those whose outward appearance looked out of date. Who cares what the place looks like when the food is this good? Please try this place. You will not be disappointed. I promise you will love the quaint nature of the restaurant and you will absolutely love the food. While you are there, pick up some onion rings for my friend, okay? read more

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews on here. Our family LOVES this place! Enough for me to leave a review...that should speak for itself HA Burgers are huge (I get the kids size). Tots and onion rings are yum!! Hot fudge sundae is one of my faves as well, albeit it on the small side. But portion control isn't necessarily a bad thing... read more

We received a gift certificate in July from my husband's employer and drove 1 1/2 hours to this place today--only to find out that it is drive through only! The dining room has been closed for two years and it is under new ownership! Their website does not say anything about it is drive thru only! I don't know why we were given gift certificates to a place so far away, especially since it is drive thru only! We can't rate this place because we did not even eat there. We did not want to eat in the car! Please, please work on your website!!!!!!! This would not let me give a negative rating but I would have given it -10! read more

If your from Independence you have Hi-Boy, from KCK you have Paul's, Platte county you had LC's... well Big Burger is the equivalent for those of us that grew up in Clay county. Standard burgers grilled thin, tenderloins, Italian steaks and of course tater tots and onion rings. Plus a full range of ice cream treats. Not a place you would drive across town for, but the type of place that should be on more corners than the fast food corporate giants that congest the suburbs now. I'm going 4 stars simply for the longevity, the onion rings, and the seasoning salt at the condiment table. read more

We were a little worried going in on why a place that's been around so long only has a "3" star rating. I read reviews and don't pay much attention to stars. First of all, not sure what more people are looking for in a burger place. I ordered the double cheeseburger with tots and thought they were both very good. Burgers were thinner patties which I like and there was plenty of cheese which I also like on a greasy burger. My wife and shared some onion rings and they were breaded crispy deliciousness. Lady that helped us at the counter was super nice and overly apologetic for not being at register right away but that was ok because we were studying the extensive offerings on the overhead menu. Great experience with clean eat in area and great old time burger. read more

Do yourself a favor, drive up the street to Sonic for a better burger. The tomato's on my burger seems old as well as the bacon. The only reason I give this 2 stars is because the tator-tots were decent. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend. read more

First time trying and it was delicious. Great burgers and tots! Will be a returning customer! Yummy!

I saw their menu and was hoping for something good. A large selection for a small place. We ordered from GH delivery. Prices seemed a little high but I know how the market is right now. Wow, what a disappointment when it arrived. Everything was small. 4 sandwiches and side, all crammed into one bag, breaking most of the fries and tots, mis-shaping the burgers. We were hoping it would make up for it in taste. Let's just say it did not make up for anything. Little to no flavor on the burgers, besides the burnt bacon. Would not recommend. read more

Totally forgot about this place. Awesome burgers and even better tenderloins. Super nice staff and great hometown burger joint vibe.

I had a double burger with tots and a soda. Everything was as expected, burger and fry kind of place. I had the sauce on the burger, which is a mix of mustard and ketchup (tasted like a little more ketchup than mustard). The burger had very little lettuce on it, but was "big". They are much like Sonic's burgers. My wife got a cherry shake, which was very good, and had real bits of cherry in it. Overall, it was good and something we would do again. read more

One of the best burgers around. Just be patient to wait. They are that good or at least that's my opinion.

Good Fast Food............Period If you like the standard fare of burgers, tots, fries, tenderloins, and ice-cream with mix-inns then you will like BIG BURGER. You get a nice meal (fast-food) for your buck. If you have the choice between BIG BURGER and a Sonic or Chain, then let this be your choice. I have a feeling this is one of those "you have to have grown up here" type places, and I can respect that. I just didn't grow up here. Seeking the first generation burger nirvana that is Hayes, I took my life into my hands and journeyed up to the wild suburban north, only to find that Hayes was closed. Closed! I didn't think the place ever closed, but apparently they took a week off. Huh. I guess everybody needs a vacation. So, I pulled out my trusty phone and yelped for a burger place near me. I wasn't expecting much on a Sunday at 9:30pm, but lo and behold, the existence of Big Burger was revealed unto me by the burning bush of AMOLED and 3G. Hallelujah! In terms of burger history, Big Burger's product is what I'd call second generation: the large, thin patty style which probably originated around the 1940s and became emblematic of 1950s drive-in, as epitomized by local chain Hi-Boy. It's hard for me to say anything too bad about the place, having made just one visit--and that mere minutes before closing on a Sunday--but the fact is, their burger was the very definition of "meh". I usually expect this style of burger to be well-seasoned (in this case, "well-seasoned" is a euphemism for "liberal application of Lawry's seasoning salt") but I got no such love. It was, on measure, a very bland burger, with frozen off-the-truck fried sides. Worst of all, they upcharge for unseasoned curly fries! I can only assume that this is because the curly potato cutter machine in whatever huge processing plant makes them is so much more expensive to operate than the straight potato cutter machine. read more

I was looking for something different in the way of a burger but I didn't want to go in and sit down. And I was coming home from getting new tires and I happened by this place and decided to give it a shot. Took home a double cheese burger and fries.
