Love this place. This is where my boyfriend and I go if we don't mind spending a few extra bucks for great quality sushi. I've gotten hibachi here once, and although it was great, I really only go for the sushi. Kobe costs more than my favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place, but the portions are larger and the quality is better. They've made whatever we've asked for in a sushi roll before, and they've got soy paper for my friends who don't like seaweed which is awesome. My favorite thing to order is the smoked salmon sashimi. Honestly, the only downfall is it's not budget friendly (fair enough) and I wish there was more seating! read more

First off, I have never written a Yelp review, but this is the worst experience I have ever had and I want people to know what to expect when you go to Kobe in Greece, NY. I visited Rochester to celebrate my girlfriends best friends birthday and at first, it seemed like a nice spot. However, once we sat down this tall hibachi chef with glasses kept making fun on of everyone in a joking way, saying a girl had a pickle mouth, saying f-word you suck bro, you suck when people didn't catch the broccoli. Then once I responded and said you suck bro in a joking way to the chef he got offended and kept saying your girlfriend and then would murmur under his breath while looking at me and telling me to say yes. I ignored him, but he did it like ten times. Eventually, I responded and I said, you are a jerk so I'm going to say no. He continued to make sexually despicable remarks that I wish I called the authorities on because it was no way to treat a woman. In retaliation, he decided to not make my food and he told them to make my food in the back without even telling me. I sat there without food while everyone ate and we all felt awkward because it was never explained what happened. As my food came out I told them no I am not paying for that to eat by myself and they gave me a hard time about taking it off my tab. Then when we left I tried to calmly talk to a manager because I was not going to pay for the forced tip on our tab when this was the worst service I ever had. I started off explaining what happened and asked why I was refused to be made food. She immediately started yelling at me repeating the F-word telling us and our group to leave. She claimed that in the cameras it showed that I missed catching the broccoli (which I did not) and I yelled at the top of my lungs," I don't care your food sucks anyways" and that's why he did not serve me. I said then show me the video because that's a lie and you cannot just do that. At this point, people were walking in to check out the place and immediately turned around because the manager/bartender was fuming right at the entrance. The lady kept cursing me out with lies so I decided to pull out my phone to record her because it was getting to the point where I could not stop it and she finally did when she saw the phone. After we paid our tab with cash to exclude the tip part, we left and everyone in our group and the one next to us exclaimed how ridiculous and unfair that was. Most of the people I did not know and had no reason to stand up for me, but they all stated how that tall chef with the glasses and the crazy bartender/manager lady ruined our evening. I would not bring children or woman to this establishment. For the owner, our reservation was on 12/7 around 7:30 so the rude chef and the crazy manager can be reprimanded. read more

Fantastic restaurant. I've had both the hibachi and the diner side. The Hibachi is great, our chef put on a good show, good humour, and good food. The diner side is a bit small in my opinion but make a reservation and you'll be fine. The sushi is great. I only go for the Chef Special Rolls. The Nigiri is fresh. Pleasantly surprised by this place. Greece has much of nothing but chain restaurants... and who want's to go to those? Kobe is a little gem in the middle of a plaza at the corner of Ridge and Long Pond. We weren't expecting much, but when we walked in, it looked as if you were taken to a restaurant in NYC. The place is large and nicely decorated. There's an option for Sushi or Hibachi. We've eaten at Kobe 3 times now and it has become our go to place for Sushi since we're in Greece and it's more convenient than going to the east side. Poo on you Cali Rollin', this place has got it going on. Large menu and fresh and creative Sushi at a very reasonable price. West siders, forget about those chain restaurant and go here! I've been here several times for take-out and dine-in and I've never been disappointed. The service is quick and efficient and the food is ridiculously, absolutely crack cocaine! If they were open right now, I would be speeding down ridge road just to attack their food (greedy I know). I have been here for hibachi and dine in, the latter is my favorable choice just because the flames are extreme and I don't need any freak accidents to happen. But my usual order is shrimp hibachi and the shrimp tempura roll. I have seriously never tasted sushi so fresh, I can't put it in words but I will guarantee if you try it once, you will be needing your fix every week. Kobe is hands down my favorite hibachi restaurant in Rochester! Everything taste so fresh and flavorful. I would highly suggest trying the pork dumplings! They're addicting. The hibachi chefs are entertaining and the servers are attentive and friendly. I have a seafood allergy and they were very accommodating. The steak could use a little more seasoning but the chicken with the garlic dipping sauce is so tasty! and the rice is delicious They offer generous portions, I just finished leftovers from last night and it was just as good. After a doctor's appointment I was craving hibachi steak dish and sushi. After a quick and easy search on Yelp, I randomly chose Kobe. Walking in the restaurant, you get a cool Lounge vibe. Dim lighting, blue lights. Hibachi side to the left , dinner side to the right. Bar upfront, it's pretty cool. Right away you are walked to your designated table. It was a smooth start. It may have just been the table that I was assign, but It was odd that the table top was sticky. As we wait for our dinners we get our drinks. My wife had water and green tea, and I had a tall Sapporo beer. My wife ordered amore roll and snow crunch roll. Instead of white rice we substituted to brown rice instead. Both rolls had great flavors. The two rolls had shrimp tempura in it. The only thing I'd recommend is more crunch to the shrimp. This would take it to another level. I believe that frying it a tad longer would do it. Next, I ordered steak Hibachi dinner. Before you get your dinner you get your soup and salad. I will have to say the salad dressing what's delicious. The salad is one of my favorites at a Hibachi place. The soup was okay, we chose the miso soup. I think taste-wise it was about average, It was missing a little more tofu. When my main dish arrived, it looked very good. The steak was done at a perfect medium. The fried rice was about average, it may have been missing sesame seeds to give it more flavor. The stir-fry veggies We're good as well. When you order any Hibachi dinner, it comes with a white garlicky sauce, and a brown sauce. Both of those sauses were up to par. Since I was so hungry and craving this dish, I'd say that it was satisfying. With that said, there was no "wow" factor to it. The staff was very nice, but slightly disorganized. A big plus would be that there service was smooth and on time. The food lands in your table quickIy, so if you are hungry like I was, your dinner will get to you fast. Okay, maybe I just went in at the wrong time or sat in the wrong spot but my experience here was horrendous! At first I was so excited to have a sushi place so close to my house. But then I walked in. The atmosphere there is more like a nightclub than a Japanese restaurant. I mean, we went in between lunch and dinner time and they had club music playing....???? Right when we walked in there was a huge bar on the right with girls in mini black dresses and black high heels, wearing way too much makeup. They were the servers!! The service was extremely slow. The sushi is so expensive and they don't give you a lot. The sushi taste is just so so. But I was so thrown off by the trampy girls in tight short SHORT dresses in high heels that I will never go back. Neon lights and club music in a Japanese restaurant? Really? Never again. We had reservations but they clearly over booked. As we waited for nearly an hour it seemed like chaos. When we were finally seated they split our party in half. Half our party was almost done eating before the other half even ordered. About ten minutes after we were finally seated they asked all of us to move down and squeeze together so they could squeeze two strangers in with us. When half our party finished eating the second half was just getting their food so we ordered dessert. We tried to eat our desert slow so the other half of party could catch up but the entire time we felt rushed. When the second half of our party was finished eating the tried to order desert but were told they couldn't because the kitchen was closed. This wouldn't have been the case if we hadn't had to wait nearly an hour to be seated even though we had reservations which we had made two weeks prior. You would think that the least they could do is let us order a desert after all the inconveniences and since it was only 9:45 on a Saturday but no. At least let us know the kitchen is closing or something. Im not going to even get started on the food they screwed up because it would take to long. I'm not one to complain and have never written a review before but this was bad. There were 14 people in our party and none of us would ever go there again. I would advise anyone who cares about food, service or a pleasant time to not go here. Terrible all the way around. read more

Me and my husband went to dinner here for the first time tonight. We have gone to a few Hibachi places before but this one is by far the best. They sat us right away and within minutes we had drinks. They were also quick to take our order. The cook was super fun and entertaining! The food tasted amazing! The portion size of food you get is a lot and very filling. No dry chicken here as I have had at other Japanese restaurants. Will definitely go back to try Hibachi table. Their were several people enjoying the tables when we were there (Sat afternoon). They seemed pleased and we heard the good time they were having. The prices are on the high side, but you get what you pay for. Nice new restaurant, atmosphere and quality food are worth it. Not outrageous, just high. More like big city prices, but not bad for a nice date. I really have not come across any complaints for this restaurant. Small parking lot is about it. The sushi is amazing. The Hibachi is so so. I go here regularly and always stick to the sushi, it's by far the best sushi around if you like spicy tuna (it's in most of the rolls). My favorite rolls are the Tuna Lovers Roll and the Mexican Roll. The Red Dragon is also wonderful. The service is great, too. When I come on lunch for the lunch specials, the waiter always remembers my order. The only downfall here is it gets really noisy during the dinner rush. The hibachi is so close to the dining room that it can be hard to hear yourself talk. So I avoid coming during busy times, but other than that, it's my favorite sushi on the west side. read more

When a customer has a food allergy, that is the most important part of the entire order and should be taken very seriously. With the way we were treated and how TERRIBLY "management" handled something so serious I am not exactly sure how they won an award for being a top restaurant in 2020. 1. How do you blame the CUSTOMER for putting shellfish on their order when they started off by telling you that someone in the dinner party is allergic!? 2. What makes them think it is okay to hang up on a customer who just paid them $70 for food that they can't even eat!? I am beside myself. Have been to this restaurant multiple times with good experiences. In fact, had dinner there and spent quite a bit after a wedding less than a year ago. Made a reservation yesterday for four and two high chairs. When we were seated we were told only one high chair was available. Ordinarily this would not be a big deal, but holding a squirming toddlers over a hot hibachi table probably isn't the best plan. The owner literally told my sister to "sit down" and he would bring one later, and if she didn't like it she could go someplace else. Multiple times he told us to go someplace else.
