Have been to this restaurant multiple times with good experiences. In fact, had dinner there and spent quite a bit after a wedding less than a year ago. Made a reservation yesterday for four and two high chairs. When we were seated we were told only one high chair was available. Ordinarily this would not be a big deal, but holding a squirming toddlers over a hot hibachi table probably isn't the best plan. The owner literally told my sister to "sit down" and he would bring one later, and if she didn't like it she could go someplace else. Multiple times he told us to go someplace else. Over a high chair. Which they knew in advance was needed, so had ample time to say they couldn't accommodate that. Probably won't be back. read more

I enjoy coming here with a bunch of friends for hibachi. There is a guy there that they request to cook and his very funny. He does entertain well and make the experience for everyone fun. The food is great, sushi was nice and yummy. Drinks are not water down so that's pretty cool too. If you want to have fun and want to celebrate your bday this is the place to go to. read more

Kobe is down the street from our hotel and I'd have to say it's actually pretty good. I had never had a tuna dumpling, it was very interesting.. tasty and good. I like the crunchy insides too, very different. We came on many different occasions and have enjoyed most of their rolls, one time we came in for drinks, we had seen the lychee martini and wanted to try it, it wasn't strong enough for my friend but for me, just perfect! We got to know the owner bc we came in a lot and he introduced us to the staff, they were all very friendly. A very good place to eat and the price isn't bad either. As a whole, the experience was decent. The food was reasonably priced and came out very quickly. The wait staff was really friendly. The bar area got VERY loud and we were sitting pretty close to it. So loud, we really couldn't hear each other speaking and had to lean in to each other and yell. I really wasn't a fan of their spicy tuna. They sort of purée'd it and it made some weird fish paste thing. I definitely prefer the crunchy spicy tuna roll at California Rollin. This is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. I don't know if I've ever thought to myself, "I'm nver going back there!" until today. From the start, it was a terrible experience. We showed up on time for our reservation, but they had given our spot away as they had tried calling my friends cell phone, but they had written down the wrong number and therefore forfeited our reservation through no fault of our own. They didn't offer any accommodations for making us wait another 30 minutes. As we were finally about the get seated, one of the waitresses had to be held back from engaging in a physical altercation with a leaving patron! She was yelling at the customer in front of the whole lobby area with 25+ people waiting. Now I have worked in customer service, and I get how crazy and frustrating people can be, but you NEVER yell at them in front of other people or try to physically intimidate them! Our food was okay but the hibachi chef did the bare minimum. He didn't really try to engage with us outsIde of the standard catch the food game. I've been to other hibachi and had some great chefs and some so-do chefs, he was by far the most lackluster. When we cashed out, I didn't notice on my bill at first that there was something called "rounding" which added .02 to my bill. Now I know it's not much, but it's the principal of it. I only by chance noticed this after I had paid my bill. After much googling, I found that some restaurants will round your bill up to the nearest nickel and as long as they have something posted stating that they do it and why, it's considered legal, which BLOWS my mind!! I don't think it should be legal without it being brought to my attention and receiving verbal confirmation. ThIs is a shady business practice. Now, they do have a sign posted behind their bar which is super inconspicuous but technically it's legally posted, and they offer you you're money back if you'd like. (So why don't you not take it in the first place!) I asked for my money back and lightly said, we were trying to understand what the "rounding" was. The woman told the guy to juSt give me a nickel back. I put it in the tip jar, and as the door was closing behind me, I heard the aggressive waitress say "really?? All that for that?" Yes, it's the principle of it, in my eyes you are stealing money from every person that walks in there. read more

The yum yum sauce is by far the best sauce I have had from other Hibachi places. My whole family love it there and we constantly go here for the fresh sushi and for take out as well. The best time to go is during the week when its less crowded because of the craziness on the weekends. Highly recommend them to everyone! read more

This is a place we normally go to, but we got here for our 6:30pm reservations and they completely ignored the list and gave our reservation to other people. Apparently they had "two lists" and didn't notice the other 6:30 reservation. Next time keep one list so that way you don't screw a party of six out of a couples dinner date. read more

Disappointed glad I had ordered lots of extra sides. Shrimp, Lobster an Filet plus rice. Same price as the dine in, but half the food in the take out! Was cold which I can understand. An just average in flavor. With the extra sides (those 3 )plus a Tuna amazing roll was about what you receive as a dine in without the extras. Had fork full of noodles, 3 broccoli 2 zucchini couple of onions in the fried veggies. What would have been $55 dine in was $100 for pickup! This is the best hibachi I've had in Rochester. The cooks are very entertaining and engaging with customers. I love the food. It's your standard hibachi meal, but they also give you lo mein noodles with the rice, veggie, and main dish. You never leave hungry from Kobe. It's my go-to spot, even though I live in Henrietta. read more

We went to Kobe for my son's birthday dinner with a party of 9. The waiter only came around to take our order and was never seen again until he gave me the bill, no refills to any of our drinks. I called to tell the manager that the rice was warm at best and the noodles were under cooked. I was a little afraid of the shrimp because he cooked it for such a short time. The managers response was "the rice was warm and we are done". All I can say is it was very bad customer service that night by the waiter and cook and the manager response the next day. We used to go here all the time because it's the closest hibachi grill to my parent's house. It isn't the best but it's decent and close. I will never go back after my last visit. The hostess told us the wait would be about an hour. After two hours we inquired about our place on the list, only to find out that they didn't have our name on their list. When we brought it up to the manager we were treated rudely and told he didn't care how long we waited. We were told he didn't "need our service". Well, I'd rather drive the extra ten miles to give my service to a restaurant that appreciates me... and has better food. read more

Don't go here for lunch if you want hibachi. We did, but couldn't go in the hibachi room because there was a group in there and there wasn't another chef available for more customers. We ordered hibachi meals while sitting in the sushi room, and it was terrible. An order of teriyaki chicken came instead as a hibachi chicken order. My steak hibachi was barely warm and my vegetables were cool. We took our grandson there for his 13th birthday, and he was very disappointed by not sitting at a hibachi table. This afternoon I attempted to purchase a Kobe gift certificate over the phone using a credit card. The purpose of the gift certificate is obvious - to make a gift. This restaurant is no where close to me geographically, but it is to the intended recipient. Given the current state of things, one would have thought that they would have tripped over themselves for $100 worth of business, but no, not Kobe. Even though they are serving take out using credit cards over the phone, they refused to process a gift certificate request over the phone and to then send it to me. The hostess is so rude. Some of our party cancelled at the last minute and I asked if we could still eat there and just wait for whenever she had a table and she bluntly shouted "NO! You can't have a table!" It was my birthday and I was in a good mood so I was just like "ok, no problem" and she gestured that we should just leave!! It was so shocking! I said "OK we are leaving, no problem, we will go somewhere else. It's ok." and she got angrier and was basically shoving us out the door. Three of went there for dinner tonight. The "hostess" was the rudest person ever. She moved us 3 times, so we got up to walk out and try to talk to the so called "manager", she was total trash. I'd been several times before to Kobe and found it as good as any hibachi place I'd visited anywhere else. Most recently I was with a group of about 8 work people (all women) on a weekday afternoon for lunch. We were seated at a station and had 2 late comers that were really behind and the server decided that we'd sat there long enough and needed to order and asked if we could call our 2 late people to get their orders. I was a little annoyed by this as it was noon and there were literally 2 other hibachi diners in the restaurant. Perhaps a large group coming in later? Idk but it annoyed me. Everyone had their own way of personalizing their order and there were no problems with each picky eater among us getting what they preferred. We had a cook who seemed to speak little English but what English he did know seemed to have been gleaned from watching... porn. "You know what it is baby" "look.. u got big mouth.. "... all along those lines. We took no offense and it's basically gone down as workplace legend but others may have been offended by this had had it been a different group. Food was good if salty, as it usually is. We each had separate checks and that turned out to be a bad idea as several people got other people's checks, got drinks on their check that belonged to others... etc. We just figured it out on our own and switched as necessary and will owe one another for drinks in the future but another group could have put up a fuss...food and service....acceptable.. but it was too big a pain in the butt to do our reunion there again. read more

My favorite place to go for sushi. I usually go for lunch, and the sever that I have had every time is awesome, I'm not sure what his name is but he is almost always there during the day.. he deserves a raise because he is great. Their soup and salad are both delicious, I usually opt for the salad at lunch time because their ginger dressing is so refreshing and yummy. Their rice is to die for, the hibachi entrees are always top notch, I usually get steak or chicken. The vegetables are al Dante and perfect. Their yum yum sauce is absolutely out of this world. I visited Kobe Steakhouse this past week and the space was much different than I had expected simply because I thought the dining area would be bigger. We arrived at about 2:20 pm so the place was practically empty since they close at 3:00pm for lunch. The server was pretty attentive. The sushi was good and I had a delicious Lychee martini. I'd like to go back when it's a little busier to get a true feeling for the atmosphere but I won't necessarily be rushing back either. read more

I have ordered sushi take out from Kobe the past 2 Thursday's in a row. They have excellent options. The only thing I feel that could change is a bit of a price decrease in there basic rolls. Other than that, this is the go to place for sushi on the west side of Rochester! I will definitely be planning my next trip for hibachi as well. read more

I only experiences sushi here, but is was so delicious and fresh. Some of the best I've had in Rochester. I went for lunch and got the three roll deal. Best Hibachi in the Rochester area. We live in Greece,NY and USE to drive all the way Pittsford Place for a very popular one. This one is better in every way. I think the food is better and the Hibachi chef's are much more entertaining. We took my 4 year old there for his b day and he loved the big fire they do. The chef did it 4 times for him. I love the lunch deal they have here, soup or salad and 3 rolls for $11.50. They have a couple other options as well. The food is always good. Well prepaid rolls that don't fall apart. They have a fully stocked bar as well. They have a separate room for hibachi. The restaurant is very clean and kind of modern decor, I really love it. You can sit at a table or at the sushi bar. The prices are pretty standard for sushi. The fish is fresh and the portion sizes are decent. The staff is friendly and fast. read more
