What an incredible experience! The fire at any hibachi restaurant is fun, but here, the hibachi chefs also double as comedians and they keep you laughing the entire evening. They cook with style -- lots of tricks and twirling utensils! They squirt sake into your mouths for as long as you can last. And, my scallop hibachi dinner was cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend coming here with a group of friends - it will make for a memorable evening! read more

I don't have another Hibatchi place to compare Kobe to but I Loved it! Our reservations were for 6:30 on a Tuesday. We still have to wait about 20 min but I didn't mind. Nicely decorated, small comfortable setting. Our chef wasn't too high energy like the other chef but he was nice. Between the 8 of us, we ordered steak, chicken, shrimp and scallops. It was all fantastic. My scallops melted in my mouth. Delish!! The saki shots were so fun! I think I had 3 long ones. Fun!! Good food, but the area is too small and they can't hold reservations. We went out for a birthday dinner with friends (8 people total) so we made reservations on a Saturday night for 6:30 and we didn't sit down to eat until 8:15. Customers were crammed in a very small waiting area/bar. The owner was running around looking lost and the hostess was literally arguing with a customer for 10 minutes. Once we were sat down all that nonsense faded away and we enjoyed a great hibatchi show and delicious food. read more

Second time I've been to this exotic restaurant, and both times have been spot on. Not too many negatives other then the lack of tang and the shitty couple that we were stuck with, she seemed like a rag. But anyway I let the strange man squirt some sake in my mouth and I really fucked that up, ended up all over my face. Couldn't even catch the fucking broccoli in my mouth, can I do anything right? Soup was decent, I only drank it because I'm assuming it would make my Swanson rock hard(didn't end up pounding that night). Steak was good and price was pretty decent so that was a plus. We came on a Saturday night at around 9pm. It wasn't too busy. We chose to sit at a booth rather than around the hibachi. But we could tell the hibachi was the place to be! The waitress was very accommodating and even reassured me about some of the choices since I am pregnant. We got a few different rolls, gyoza, miso soup, udon noodles & some tempura. The sushi was pretty good. I'm from Hawaii so I tried my best not to criticize based on a comparison. It may seem like it makes sense to get the cheaper handrolls but you're better off paying for the specialty ones. The size difference is worth the price and the taste definitely makes it the right call. The udon was really good, probably the best noodles I have tasted. It's a nice big portion but still not worth the $13.50 price tag. Gyoza was great and they actually serve it with gyoza sauce so that was plus. Tempura ice cream for dessert was awesome. It was a nice (expensive) treat and it did satisfy my cravings for food from back home. Try it out if you have some extra cash or want to take out some friends to the hibachi. read more

Would have 5 stars, but this is why they are receiving 3. Last week we went to this restaurant and absolutely loved it!! The waiter was great and very kind, and our food was AMAZING! Since my boyfriend loved it so much, we wanted to get take out tonight since we are hitting the road early in the morning. Anyways, he called to make an order and the girl was just rude on the phone and was very short. As the phone call was coming to an end, she repeated the order and once he said "yes that's correct" she hung up on us. I feel bad for the business, because how there workers treat their guests does mean everything no matter how good the food tastes. read more

We had reservations for 7 pm for a party of 14, celebrating after a bachelorette wine tour earlier in the day. We received a VM changing reservation to 7:45. We arrived a few min early, but were not sat at a table until 8:30. We sat around 2 hibachi's - one chef showed up and started cooking for one half. He cooked our entire dinner while the other half of our party watched us eat. We even asked about them and he just kept saying no worries, it will be soon. 10 minutes after he left our table, another chef showed up and started cooking for them, and we were almost done! They boxed up our left overs as our friends were being served. They then brought out boxes for them and brought them their checks! They then came over and asked us if we would move over and stand next to their table so that the hostess could seat our table with new people. Then the hostess asked if we would all move to the dining room so that we could seat our other table. Terrible!!! Why take reservations if you can't honor them? Why serve food on real plates, only to bring to-go containers? Why have tables at all if you are going to ask people to leave before they have a chance to eat their food? If we wanted our food to go, we would have ordered it that way. If we wanted to eat separately , we would not have made reservations for all of us. Manager was no where to be found, when we asked for him or her, was told they were around but they were too busy to go get them. They said earlier customers put them way behind and it was not their fault. Never going back!!! Ps another family stopped me on our way out, asking what happened as this was their first visit and wondered why the chef was taking food off of grill and putting it directly into to-go container, which I happily shared with them our experience and wished them luck. Only ever had hibachi here but I think it's a little better than its competition "Sakura house". You get noodles and rice at this place and only rice at Sakura. Nice atmosphere, clean and modern. No complaints. read more

Wish I could rate below 1 because i have a problem with the owner of this place. Been here only a handful of times, luckily without having to deal with the owner, so the experience was ok at best. This time, we had the unfortunate luck of speaking with the owner standing at the entrance, who vehemently insisted we could not be seated because two others of our party of 8 had not yet arrived due to bad weather. Basically told us to leave, didn't offer to seat us at tables rather than hibachi, didn't seem to care. Zero customer service. Just look at his responses to other complaints on here, what a self-centered sarcastic joker. We took our $800 dinner elsewhere, and will NEVER be back. read more

Went to Kobe the other night with a group of close friends. The food was delicious and service exceptional! Our hibachi chef cooked massive amounts of food that was cooked perfectly in front of us . I ordered the Kobe delight which was lobster , filet mignon, and chicken. The lobster was just a tad over cooked to my liking but it was still very delicious. My friends ordered shrimp with their habachii dishes . I was given shrimp too even though I didn't order it . It made me very happy ! I don't know if it was standard to have lo mein with everyone's dish but he cooked fresh lo mein on the flat top for everyone at our huge table , including my friends. For those who ordered steak , he asked us how each of us wanted our meat cooked . I ordered medium rare for my filet mignon, and my Friends ordered their steaks medium. I took one bite of my filet and it melted like butter in my mouth. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was absolutely delicious... the way a cut of filet mignon should be . The chef gave us a choice of white or fried rice .. which ever we preferred. The fried rice was very delicious and well seasoned ! I couldn't stop eating it . Our chef was hilarious and put on a great show ! He was kind , funny and had us laughing really hard in our seats ! He had a few really funny sayings that he repeated such as " hell yea " and " you know how it is " lol . We were dying ! Haha . The staff were attentive ,refilled our waters promptly and were very polite! I would recommend this place for a nice night out with friends any time ! For all these positive reasons ! Went for lunch around Noon. The bento box's are good but if your looking for Sushi this is the place to go. Atmosphere is great as long as there isn't a lot of people. It is a small place but still very tasty both on sushi and the meals too. My only qualm is that I didn't get much with the bento box. Go here and enjoy some Sushi. I am not terribly impressed. We went there 3 times and always order the love boat. It is supposed to be the chefs choice on the rolls. All 3 times we got the same rolls. I expected something different, especially when we don't have a choice on the rolls. Also wish the restaurant was a bit bigger. At times it's incredibly hard to get seat on a busy days. We were served chicken that still had the arteries in it one piece strung out about 4 inches long like ground chicken on a string. talked to the owner about it and he yelled at us in front of the entire restaurant. First I wanna say the chefs and food here are always amazing. but I'm leaving 2 stars today because I was very upset with the service last night. I made a reservation for 13 people at 830, we waited an hour to be seated. I told them twice it was 2 people's birthday my boyfriends and my best friend, I expected them to be sung to and get dessert. people who were sat after us got there drinks and food before us. we waited a half hour for drinks! they never sang or gave them desert for their birthday and they started cleaning up and putting up chairs while we were still eating and it wasn't even closing time yet. we ended up leaving literally 1 minute before actually close time. they were rude to us especially the hostess and a busser who was extremely irritated for some reason. As much as I love the food there, I think I will take my business else where next time, especially since there are a lot of good hibachi and sushi restaurants in rochester. Kobe WAS my favorite. but after last night's service I'm not going back. they are lucky I am nice and didn't complain to them or not tip them for the bad service! read more

We made reservations two hours early after the hostess told us they couldn't seat us until 8. We showed up to the restaurant and told them we had a reservation and were told it was going to be an hour wait, possibly longer and they added us to the bottom of the list. Not only was the hostess RUDE but she never once apologized for the wait or offered any explanation. I have worked in restaurants for years as a server and hostess and would never treat a customer so disrespectfully. We will never go there again. read more

We love this restaurant and everything is good there. Kenny one of the servers knows our little family by name and is one of the best servers in the place. Everyone is so nice and the food is to die for. The great thing about this place is no matter when or if it has been takeout we love the fact that the food is delicious. We always get extra Yum Yum sauce for our rice and noodles. Love the sushi here which is so fresh tasting and love when my husbands surprises me with it at home from take out. We called and made dinner reservations for 8 o'clock. Upon arriving it was very difficult to find a hostess due to the standing room only situation. At this point it was 5 minutes to 8. When we did locate the hostess, we expressed our worry about being seated due to the amount of people waiting. She assured us that it would only be a few minutes. Some of us decided to get a drink, unfortunatley The waiting area was so packed that some of us decided to wait outside(out of necessity of being crushed). At this point, there was another disgruntled group who had 7 o'clock reservations and had still not been seated. We waited until 8:45 before leaving, which is the time when some of the 7 oclock reservations were finally being seated. While waiting, we saw more people leave disgusted with the lack of service and attention to the waiting patrons. When we expressed our disapointment in the lack of service, and the obvious lying to us about the wait time (even tho we had reservations) she offered no sympathy or empathy simply stating "it's not our fault". Really? Really? It's not your fault, no, if people do not leave you are correct, it is not your fault, but if you are asked if it is going to be long, and there are groups of people with reservations over an hour old still not seated, and you tell me it is only going ot be a few minutes, then you are lying and being decietful and that is your fault. The place looked fantastic, unfortunately we will never be returning to actually experience the food, solely due to the inconsideration of the staff, not only to us, but to the rest of the patrons in the establishment as well. read more

This restaurant is an absolute insult to Japanese cuisines, to start off, the owner is not even Japanese. I'm an easy going person, I would never give a bad review unless it's complete and utter horrendous. Out of all the terrible experience I can mention, above all, is the service. We booked a 6:00 appointment, end up not be able to be seated until 6:30, the waitresses here are unbelievably rude, I politely asked her for a beer, she ends up telling me to screw off while she's busy.
