Good Food, Fair Prices, But Needs Improvement We visited Kobe Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar with my daughter and husband. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. I had the Lychee Tini, which was well made. My daughter is vegetarian and appreciated the variety of sushi and vegetarian options. My husband ordered the steak, which he said was cooked perfectly. I chose the Sashimi Deluxe, featuring six kinds of chef-selected raw fish, and it was fresh and enjoyable, even including caviar. That said, the overall experience fell short of more than three stars. While the service was friendly, it was slow when it came to bringing our drinks. The decor and atmosphere feel outdated and sad, which does not match the quality of the food and takes away from the dining experience. With updated decor and more attentive service, this place could be much better. For now, it's an okay option for sushi and steak at a fair price, but not somewhere I would rush back to. read more

I was craving sushi and stumbled upon Kobe based on the pictures. I had went to another place down the road and was majorly disappointed. Glad I stopped by here because I think it took care of my sushi fix, although I could probably eat sushi everyday. I came in around rush hour peak time 6:30 and it was busy. I think I grabbed the last table for 2. I did have to wait awhile for the server to come around but I understood, it wasn't like he was ignoring me, he was just busy. I ordered Queens roll and Jeremy roll. Both were hefty and satisfying. They also tasted similar, I think it was bc of the cream cheese, but good either way. I took off one start bc the restroom was kind sticky, at least the floor was... and you could see shoe prints everywhere... so you know... Would come back for sure read more

Recently I went to Kobe for my wife's birthday (July 27th),it was recommended by my sister in law who loves that place when she did live out here ,the location on West Ridge Road right past Greece Ridge Mall upon entrance we were greeted by a host who was very friendly our wait time was 10-15 minutes.Once seated at a grill with a another family we were given menus the hibachi chef greeted everyone I ordered a chicken and shrimp combo in between, I was given rice wine shots cause of my wife's birthday ,the staff was very accommodating and helpful, I highly recommend this place 4 1/2 stars and the only setback to me is I think they need a little bit more space/but besides that it's very good also they have a decent bar where you can enjoy drinks while waiting to be seated!! read more

Hole-in-the-wall alert! So in a town (like so many towns) full of chain restaurants, I was delighted to stumble upon this gem. Like the Dr. Who phone box .... It's bigger on the inside. The full bar which you run into upon entering threw me off. I thought I walked into my neighborhood bar. When your eyes get used to the dark, you'll see that the sushi bar in the back and a happy hibachi on the other side of the wall. I am not sure what the hype or any hype is all about, Upon my arrival the place was pretty busy, I thought wow a good sign. They cleaned off a table for me right away. After 15 minutes of waiting a male waiter came by and I asked for a few requests, no ice in water and chopsticks. He gave me a ooooohhh kaaaay answer like attitude. After another 10 minutes he came back and I placed my order. Beer, Saki, and Teriyaki Steak and shrimp. I did not order the Sushi as it looked old and nobody was manning the station. After another 15 miutes he arrived. He asked me if I needed anything else as he informed me he would NOT be back to check up. I did not understand but I was hungry. I started eating. The rice was OLD (like day old rice), hard and crusty on top. The steak order (cooked medium) looked ok, but upon tasking, it was hard, and very chewy. I could not complain much because my waiter never came back to checkup on me. Then out of the blue after 30 minutes he showed up with the bill. He did not ask how it was, nor did he even give me the opportunity to talk. He took off. My bill sat there so long another waitress come over and took it for me. My waiter returned with it and did not say anything and just left. He was very rude and I was insulted,. Not to mention the food was terrible. I mean really, it was not good. I would have rather had a burger than this sub par food. SO why is it so busy, I think it is for the Hibachi side of the restaurant. They both love sushi and therefore we opted to give it a try. I was a little skeptical because of some past reviews of poor service. The food was good but the service was not. My sister and I both agreed that this was some of the best hibachi we've had! We came in at 8:30pm on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We didn't have reservations but we got lucky and there were 2 empty seats at a table. They quickly took our orders and the chef was out in minutes. He was hilarious and had lots of hibachi tricks (as expected). I got the filet mignon and shrimp combo dinner. It came with the usual soup and salad, both were delicious. The entrees were huge, and not only did they come with fried rice and veggies but also fried noodles. Sooo much food and it was all soooo good. This restaurant was recommended by my friend who told me that their sushi was champ!!!! I have to try and I got to try. I didn't went in for dine. I ordered via the phone and they did a great job with taking orders and very friendly!!! When I arrived within 15 mins after order food. They have the orders all ready. I was like wow!!! The food was terrible, greasy and without any seasoning. Although both of us are servers we decided to complain. We spoke with the hostess. I asked for the food to go and said I would pay the bill. They initially said they would recook and charge us for one meal. The. The owner said NO the kitchen closed at 930. I asked for my food back then and they would only give us one meal because that's all we paid for. On the way out I said I wouldn't be back. They only told us to arrive on time, but did not tell us the dining time was limited. This is by far the best sushi spot in Rochester. The service is phenonimal, sushi fresh, never a wait but always busy and they also have hibachi! What I like most about Kobe though is their variety and uniqueness of rolls. Which this is impossible to find anywhere else really in rochester that's actually tastey and delicious. I recommend the central park, Dynamite roll and my favorite the empire roll...however you can't go wrong with anything off the menu Also saki bombs are allowed here ... The best hibachi place in Rochester NY. The food is always delicious and hot. Currently they are only open for take out and are asking patrons to call ahead and then call once at the place where they will bring the food to the door. It was a smooth process. In addition to the food being great, I also appreciate their offering of gluten free hibachi as someone in my party has a severe allergy. It's really nice that they are able to enjoy the food as well and not get sick from it. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who loves hibachi or sushi. Found this spot on a whim and had a very pleasant experience here. The one side where we sat is pretty small but it appears there is a whole separate side for hibachi. The staff let us pick where we sat and the waitress came over almost immediately to take our drink orders. For drinks I ordered a Blue Hawaiian which was good. For food we ordered Crab Rangoon to start, and a few different rolls to share. Unfortunately, I didn't write this review right after we went so I have at this time forgotten which rolls we did get. However, I can safely assure you all of them were great. The only complaint I had is the crab Rangoon which had very little crab and an overwhelming amount of cream cheese. A few were also a bit overcooked. One thing about this place that's awesome is they have a menu that pictures each item- I love this and wish all sushi places would do this. Overall it was definitely a 4 star experience and I would recommend this as a place to try if you're in the area. read more

I need everyone who reads this to know that this is the ABSOLUTE WORST RESTAURANT IN EXISTENCE. I have never experienced such atrocious service in my entire life. I have traveled all over this country, as well as the world, and I'm just floored and perplexed even as I write this the next day after eating at this place. For background, 8 of us nurses had just gotten off shift and had made reservations ahead of time for a hibachi grill table. Some of us had no time to change and we're still in scrubs but we all made it there on time. We were exhausted and looking forward to a nice night out to decompress from the week. The food is subpar but if you're out for a fun night and aren't expecting more than mediocre, then you're good. Having said that the hibachi cook DID NOT cook according to preferences he asked about (medium rare vs well done, etc) and attempted to ON THE SLY swap out FILET MIGNON for NY STRIP STEAK. He argued and insisted it was filet after it was cooked but our group had taken photos of him cooking initially for fun but were able to prove that he used strip steak. The coup de gras was when the waiter asked our group if we would like more drinks as he flung to go boxes at us while we were still eating. Some of us said yes and when we got the drinks the manager came up to us and said "OK YOU MUST LEAVE NOW BECAUSE WE HAVE A PART WAITING FIR THIS TABLE." Ok.. excuse me? We were there for less than an hour, we just received drinks after we were offered and we WERE STILL EATING. We said to him "I'm sorry but what the heck? We are still eating and just got our drinks" to which he replied, "TAKE YIUR FOOD AND DRINKS TO THE BAR, YOUR TIME IS UP FOR THIS TABLE." Let me be clear, nowhere in this building was there a sign stating how long a party can stay at a table. Furthermore, I ask you, how would you feel if you saved your paycheck for a family night out that's supposed to be fun and enjoyable, only to have the staff tell you you have to finish your meal and drinks at the bar or in the waiting area? I have gone to Kobe for years and the sushi has always been amazing. Today unfortunately they put bad avocado in my Philadelphia rolls ( I ordered 2). So I called looking to get a credit and I was put on hold so she could check with the chef on how the avocado was. She came back and said the avocado was green and just oxidized a bit. I said no, and could send her a picture of the avocado via text if she needed it. She proceeded to give me her cell of which I sent the picture feeling that I had to prove my case and disappointed with the dying skillset of customer service. I have been a loyal customer for years. I then told her I felt that she didn't believe me and she proceeded to say I didn't need to take that tone with her and that she was trying to help me. I feel sending a picture was helping her understand the food quality of her restaurant and that asking me to send a picture didn't evoke the feeling of belief. Only after expressing my disappointment of the need to send the picture did she say she was going to show it to the chef. I tried to explain that I would have appreciated an apology and acknowledgment prior to asking for the photo If that is how she felt but was cut off with her moving onto giving me a credit for one roll. I stated it was two rolls. She got annoyed with me and asked " it was both rolls?!" Proceeded with silence. Shocked with this response I said yes...do I need to send more avocado pics? I admit that I was snide with that comment. A good customer service response would have been: I'm so sorry about that. Absolutely I'll credit both. I then asked to speak to a manager (the daughter of the owner) of which she stated she overheard the conversation. I tried to express what I had experienced but I was cut off and unable to indicate my disappointment. She started to defend her employee but did say she was 16 years old and may not have handled it the best. I then asked is the credit back to my card or to the store. This somehow was an annoyance to the manager as I was given a snide vocabulary lesson on the difference between a credit and a refund. Needless to say in order for me to get a refund I would need to return to the restaurant. So I was told I would receive a credit for one roll. I then of course had to state that both were bad. Clearly they felt I had not communicated that and again was annoyed at me. They did then state they would credit the two rolls and then told me they were busy and they had to go. Our conversation lasted 8 minutes between the two people fyi. Anyway hope this helps someone or at least provides feedback to the owner Roger of the lack of kindness his employees exhibit. We love it here-the atmosphere, fresh and made at the table right in front of you. It is a show as well as a meal (hibachi). If you never gone to this style you are sited at a table with maybe 10 others. That also is part of the fun. Of course, sometimes you may need to wait until enough to fill the table, but it has never been too bad and that is how this style dinner is done! (a full table) The food is delicious-soup, steak, shrimp, scallops, with noodles, veggies, YumYum sauce and fun. It is a place I have taken my mother, company from out of town, birthdays.... WE have never been disappointed! I think it may be a little pricy-the amount of food you get is plenty and everyone has take home boxes. The restaurant is bigger than it looks. The only downside for me, is parking is tight as it is in a strip mall - but worth it. I highly recommend-It is for all ages. Service the chefs are specially and amazing and fun to watch fine. One of my co-workers and close friends was moving away. We wanted to celebrate her new adventures with a dinner out. Of course, something like that needs a big dinner. Someone suggested hibachi and we were all sold on the idea. Kobe was the most central to us all so I booked us a reservation. I was surprised how small the inside actually is. They have two sides; one for dining tables and one for their hibachi. So if you didn't want to do hibachi but wanted the menu options, you can dine in! The bar was small but it was a nice spot to wait for the entire group to arrive. Bar tender made great drinks! Once we got seated, our hibachi chef was amazing. Appropriately funny and tentative. He was respectful to those who didn't want to catch food or do the sake but still made fun a little bit. The food was outstanding. It was a very nice way to celebrate! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's a secret gem! Both a Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar......hibach is amazing and entertaining! I recently went her with a few girlfriends right at 5:15 and didn't have to wait for a table... nights get busy but it's worth the wait. We started off with Edamame that were hot and fresh. Perfect to go with our cocktails of sake and beer! I had my favorite.... Hawaii Roll... Crispy shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, sliced pineapple. On topped served w. alaska king crab salad and w. nuta sauce. 10 large pieces.... aloha baby!! My friends had the sushi deluxe platter and a field goal roll.... it's up and it's gooood! . I visited Kobe Steak & Sushi House for dinner last week after a recommendation from a friend. I wouldn't normally drive to Greece for dinner, but I figured I should expand my horizons. Call me a sushi "purist" or just plain old "snob", but I usually prefer more traditional sushi and rolls without the spicy or sweet sauces. I was therefore a bit skeptical about the sushi at Kobe. For appetizers, we ordered the shumai and crab rangoons. Both were decent, without any huge surprises. The shumai were smaller portioned and less meaty than your typical Chinese dim sum shumai. The crab rangoons were nicely deep fried without being too oily. For sushi, I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered the Hawaii Roll. It consisted of crispy shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, sliced pineapple topped with Alaskan king crab salad (oh you fancy) and nuta sauce. Yeah, ordering something covered in "nuta sauce" is risky, especially when the waiter didn't even know what it was. Not surprisingly, the sweet and sour of the pineapple and coleslaw overpowered the taste of tuna. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, but I feel like the focus should be on the fish and less on the sauce. I'll get off my high horse and say that if you like "saucy" sushi, then you should give Kobe a try. The portions are large and the value is okay. The $14 Hawaii roll came with 10 huge pieces. The rolls are a bit more crudely put together than rolls from Nikko and Sushi King. What Kobe lacks in delicacy, however, it makes up for with sheer size. My friend ordered the Soft Shell Crab Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll which were just okay. We also shared a hibachi chicken dinner. Surprisingly, it was my favorite part of the dinner. $14.50 may seem a little steep for chicken hibachi, but it comes with A LOT of food. This includes soup, salad, fried rice, noodles and 2 pieces of grilled shrimp. The chicken was tender and their hibachi white sauce is addictive. All in all, Kobe is a decent Japanese option in Greece. I probably wouldn't drive to Greece on my own accord just to eat at Kobe again. I would consider going back for the Hibachi experience though. read more

This was place I loved, as you can see from my first review. Until last night. The worst customer service. We ordered takeout, because that is all they are doing because of covid. One of the rolls I got was not what I ordered and I didn't think the other one was correct either, so I called. Note my crew started to eat before me so I didn't notice right away. I explained I had the wrong rolls and asked for a credit on my next order. I was told I can't get a credit unless I bring them back. So I had to stop eating everything else (which was hot food) to take these back. Both girls came out with my receipt and I tell them I ordered an Angry Dragon Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. They confirmed the one roll was a Spicy Tuna Roll, it had no tuna in it and was not spicy at all, but whatever. The girl that took my phone order, Melisa, starts arguing with me that I ordered a plain dragon roll not angry. Instant attitude. Now I'm 43 years old and started working in restaurants when I was 14. I have host, served, bartended, and managed. I have dealt with my share of wrong orders and this is NOT how you handle it. What she should have done is say. I'm sorry, I must have heard you wrong let me fix that for you. What she did is get into an all out argument with me on what I said, and then said well you ate it...two pieces from each roll were gone and they were eaten before I even sat down and noticed it was the wrong thing. So now I'm pissed... to the point where I was like just fix it and went back to my car and called her a not nice name to my sister, which the other girl must have heard and told her. So lovely Melisa brings back out a bag with two containers in it. Attitude still raging. Tell me you don't need to bother coming back....I'm paraphrasing she said in some kind of teenage, slang, far from proper English way. Why she thinks I would want to come back after being treated like that I have no idea? If I was the manger / owner of that place that is not who I would want talking to my customers and handling problems. It gets better I assumed I had gotten two new rolls. NO when I get home there is a angry dragon roll and left overs from the wrong roll and the bad spicy tuna roll. I just couldn't even believe it.
