I visited Kobe Steak & Sushi House for dinner last week after a recommendation from a friend. I wouldn't normally drive to Greece for dinner, but I figured I should expand my horizons. Call me a sushi "purist" or just plain old "snob", but I usually prefer more traditional sushi and rolls without the spicy or sweet sauces. I was therefore a bit skeptical about the sushi at Kobe. For appetizers, we ordered the shumai and crab rangoons. Both were decent, without any huge surprises. The shumai were smaller portioned and less meaty than your typical Chinese dim sum shumai. The crab rangoons were nicely deep fried without being too oily. For sushi, I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered the Hawaii Roll. It consisted of crispy shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, sliced pineapple topped with Alaskan king crab salad (oh you fancy) and nuta sauce. Yeah, ordering something covered in "nuta sauce" is risky, especially when the waiter didn't even know what it was. Not surprisingly, the sweet and sour of the pineapple and coleslaw overpowered the taste of tuna. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, but I feel like the focus should be on the fish and less on the sauce. I'll get off my high horse and say that if you like "saucy" sushi, then you should give Kobe a try. The portions are large and the value is okay. The $14 Hawaii roll came with 10 huge pieces. The rolls are a bit more crudely put together than rolls from Nikko and Sushi King. What Kobe lacks in delicacy, however, it makes up for with sheer size. My friend ordered the Soft Shell Crab Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll which were just okay. We also shared a hibachi chicken dinner. Surprisingly, it was my favorite part of the dinner. $14.50 may seem a little steep for chicken hibachi, but it comes with A LOT of food. This includes soup, salad, fried rice, noodles and 2 pieces of grilled shrimp. The chicken was tender and their hibachi white sauce is addictive. All in all, Kobe is a decent Japanese option in Greece. I probably wouldn't drive to Greece on my own accord just to eat at Kobe again. I would consider going back for the Hibachi experience though. read more

I'm a fan of sushi period, this little place didn't disappoint. The tuna dumpling is really unique, and we felt a bit of wasabi elevated the flavor. The tempura chicken and veg were light and served with a mild dipping sauce. I felt fruity and went for the Mango Tango Roll, Avocado, mango, shrimp tempura, cucumber, spicy kani inside, w. red tobiko outside. The mango was kind of macerated and you couldn't really taste it. Hawaii Roll, Crispy shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, sliced pineapple. On topped served w. Alaska king crab salad and w. nuta sauce. This was enormous, the sliced pineapple was more chunked, not wanting to cut my sushi into pieces and also not sure how I would be able to cut it, I indecently crammed pieced in my mouth. Not something you want to order on a first date...then again maybe you do. Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll, Rice wrapped w. seaweed deep fried, on topped served w. spicy tuna, different texture with the crispy skin. The favorite was the Dynamite Roll, Spicy yellowtail & tuna wrapped inside. On topped served w. spicy crunchy crab stick salad, this had a wasabi sauce around it and was delicious. read more

I visited the Kobe restaurant yesterday located in Greece, NY. I am familiar with Kobe, dining at a few others locations in other states and the taste and food quality were comparable. The show the chef put on was nothing special and not the quality of other locations. The entire restaurant looks dingy and is dimly lit. The restaurant could use a facelift. The chairs were shot with cracked vinyl seats. We were seated at the last table and the wall behind us was stacked with empty, used boxes. The hallway leading to the restrooms also had empty stacked boxes and lavatory material along the wall. I probably would not return. read more

I visited this restaurant last night for the very first time after so many people recommending it to me. This place was just as great as everyone hyped it up to be. Omg the food was delicious. I ordered the filet mignon hibachi dinner. The meat was so tender and full of so much flavor. DELICIOUS. I also really enjoyed their cocktails. I would recommend the lemon drop (if your into a sour drink) and the Kobe Candy. Our server, Alex, did a great job and was a nice hard working young man. The ambiance was great and they played good music. We went on a Friday night so it was rather busy but my boyfriend and I still enjoyed our time. Also, I would definitely recommend the Amore sushi roll. It has shrimp tempura and eel in it with mango on top. It was very tasty. read more

2nd time in row with terrible cook. We asked for medium rare steak but got medium well. Chicken was grainy tasting. Lobster shrimp and octopus was terribly overdone. Part of the experience is the show which we did not get. The only thing the cook did was toss broccoli in mouths. And at the very end the volcano. I could only eat veggies and rice. Rice was lacking. Big waste of money. Disappointment because our very first time there before Covid the food and show was fantastic. Things were lacking after it opened back up after Covid but we gave it chance. My first experience at Kobe was a pleasant one the first time we came a couple of years ago which led me to come back a second. However, I was truly disappointed with the service this time. We were seated at 7:10pm for our 7:00pm reservation for a party of five for a birthday celebration and we were were out the door literally at 8:05pm. We felt rushed the whole time from the moment we sat down. The cook was not entertaining at all. He was rushing through everything and threw huge chunks of broccoli for us to catch instead of rice which was a first for me. The rice was briefly warmed up and very light in color which was flavorless to say the least. By the time we had everything we ordered on the plate, parts of it were cold. This is not an exaggeration... not even 5 minutes went by from the time the cook left and clean his area that the waitress came by and asked if she could place styrofoam boxes in the corner. We didn't even had a chance to answer and she was already placing them in front of us. We ate in a rush and even the couple who was on a date that sat down in our table at the same time left before us. I understand there may be people behind us but the experience was truly a disappointing one. The only thing I enjoyed was the Scorpion drink I ordered with my mother. Last night, we planned to celebrate my daughter's birthday at this restaurant. There were going to be 11 of us in all. On the way to the restaurant, my other daughter's 3-year-old son got sick and she was not able to attend with her children. The young woman who was seating people was very abrupt and rude. She indicated that we would not be seated until everyone arrived. At 6:20, I let the hostess know that we would now be 7, instead of 11. She said that we would now have to wait until 7:00 PM to be seated. There were very few people in the restaurant and I said to her that with three small children, it would be very difficult to wait that much longer. She rudely told me that she has to move tables around and other customers would not be able to be seated. She did not offer to seat us somewhere, maybe order drinks or snacks, only that we would have to wait. Speaking quietly and politely, I asked to speak to the manager. She said that the manager was not there and that she was in charge. At that time, the woman who was working behind the bar, who was not involved in the conversation, pointed to me and yelled: "Get out of here, now! Go! Get out of here, old man!" I began to feel threatened as the few bar patrons were now staring at me. It was humiliating, belittling and most of all, a very sad thing for my small grandchildren to witness. It was by far, the worst I have ever been treated in all my life and I have have visited hundreds of restaurants. My daughter's birthday celebration was nearly ruined due to their callous disregard for my family. . Fortunately, we went to the nearby Sogo Sushi & Hibachi. We were seated promptly and we had a wonderful time and an excellent meal! Yelp requires a minimum of one star to post a review. They do not deserve the one star that I was forced to give them. I cannot understand why anyone would ever step foot in that restaurant again. They should be ashamed of themselves in how they treated their customers. Used to be our favorite hibachi until tonight. We had the worst cook ever. He yelled at our friend at the table for touching her plate because he was "planning to put rice on her plate soon"... he then mentioned at least 20 times (and the only thing he talked about) was him teaching us hibachi lessons on why not to touch your plate in case of a burn. I had to even ask him at one point to stop talking about it and this is supposed to be fun and we are having no fun... and he replied "we ARE having fun". We had a reservation and showed up on time. We've been here once before and it was a good experience. There were plenty of employees in relations to the amount of patrons. The front door was filthy. It was a terrible first impression. There were hundreds of greasy fingerprints all over it There were four employees at the hostess station alone. We checked in and they said there would be a wait, even though we had a reservation. We were fine with that and went to the bar. The bartender was incredibly rude. She was not backed up on orders or busy. We were patient and she was just RUDE. There were four of us and after each drink order she would yell " is that it!??" As if she didn't want to take the next persons order. Right after the last person order she slapped the receipt on the bar in a big puddle of water ( making it impossible to sign). The entire restaurant was just dirty. So after waiting a bit to see if they were going to honor our reservation, we gave up and left. I'm giving the two stars because the drinks were good. I love kobe! Ik have been coming here for a few years through work events and friends and recently came to for a family birthday party. I love hibachi in general but I think the food here is very good and they use quality ingredients. The staff is very friendly and I have never waited to be seated. This time I went for lunch and I will say that I was a little disappointed compared to when I normally go. Our chef had no tricks and they were out of the onions for the volcano onions. I've been here for lunch before and this was never an issue so I'm hoping it was just an off today. Overall, I enjoy going here and would go anytime I'm in the area. RACIST! Made a reservation for 10 and the hostess refused to seat us once we arrived. 8/10 of our guests had arrived, 2 of which were children. The hostess refused to seat us until "all ten guests arrived," despite us having 2 young children with us. We were even 15 minutes early for our reservation. I expressed to the hostess how unreasonable that sounded; her only response was: "it's company policy." She then proceeded to get an attitude and talk about my family and I with the other hostess. Next, she dramatically and defiantly crossed our family's reservation off of her chart. So nasty and unprofessional.
