Our new Chinese restaurant is closed on Tuesdays so we gave in and ordered from them again hoping last time was a fluke. No such luck. It was terrible. The chicken is so overcooked and dry and it's much more expensive than our place. They also charge 7.99 delivery fee. We ordered at 7 o'clock, they said 30 to 40 minutes for delivery and when it wasn't here by 8:15 we called and the restaurant was closed. Luckily the driver arrived soon after that. Mainly because their delivery is the fastest in town by...a lot, and if you're making the decision to order Chinese delivery, it is probably because you're hungry and lazy and wanting food in 23-27 minutes - which is He's to a tee! It has always taken less time than GrubHub/my Yelp app tell me, which is the most pleasant surprise in the WORLD. The food is your classic Chinese takeout realness, but the dumplings have never tasted the same on any instance that I've ordered them? So that's something. I will likely avoid from here on in since the last time I ordered them they were strangely crispy. A good option for takeout that's quick and affordable! Of the things I've ordered, the beef lo mein was my favorite. I did recently cave in to a throwback craving for sesame chicken. It was just like I remembered from childhood (ha! I know this isn't really a legit Chinese dish, but when the craving hit, I had to give in). Overall, I like the dishes because they aren't too salty, the portions are huge, and the veggies are crisp. However, the egg rolls are were stale tasting - in general a lack of flavor. The szechuan beef was not spicy at all. Very tame and Americanized, unfortunately. Not sure how best to ask for more heat. It's most popular feature is the $5.65 "lunch box" that includes your choice of rice or lo mein and two entrees. It is a great option, even though they recently decreased the portion size of the box. He's also offers a full menu of Chinese and Japenese options for take out or delivery. The shop is small, and I would not recommend dining in. I didn't expect much from this place considering it's size and the fact that it's mostly a lunch spot, but since we moved very very close by I decided to order take out for dinner tonight and boy were we pleasantly surprised! Their Hunan style beef and chuan jiao chicken were awesome! He even let us know that they were out of string beans for the chicken dish and offered suitable substitutes. I love, Love, LOVE He's. One thing that is a MUST have is a good delivery Chinese place in your arsenal. When the boyf and I were in Philly, we had our place. When we were in Massachusetts, no one delivered, but we found a great takeout place not too far. So, when we settled in Rochester, our first task (haha not really first but not as far down the list as I'd like to admit!) was to find a Chinese delivery joint that could handle our bi-weekly needs. ;) After pouring through Grub Hub and cross-referencing reviews on yelp, the first place that we tried was He's. And suffice it to say, we haven't needed to stray. Delivery is quick (and only $1!) and the delivery people are always nice, regardless of if we need a weekday or weekend delivery. MUST haves include honey chicken, sesame chicken, steamed dumplings, and cashew chicken. The only downside is that they're not open as late as a millenial might prefer (close at 10 Monday-Thursday and 10:30 Friday-Saturday, not open on weekends). That makes for minor inconvenience if you want late-night food or something for a big Sunday event but a little planning is never a bad thing. The boyf and I have ordered food on Saturday for Sunday consumption and it reheats incredibly well! read more

I ordered through grubhub. I had put in a request for my bubble tea to be less sweet, a customization that is pretty standard for bubble tea. When I tasted it, it was WAY too sweet, and I have had to water it down with two cups of water to make it merely drinkable, with the tea flavor very diluted. I called the restaurant up, and he said that they have never had problems with the tea and they sell lots every day. It turned out badly for me because I put in a customization. I told him that it doesn't make sense - I put in a request and you mess up my drink by doing the opposite of what I want? A request that is very standard for bubble tea. He had refused to make me a new one, and refused a refund, and did not even apologize. You don't treat your customers like this! Two more things: The fortune cookies were soft and rancid. I just recently moved to Rochester and found this place with my partner. The day we went it was very busy but the lady was very apologetic and handled it well. I wasn't in a rush anyways so it didn't much matter to me. They have some of the best prices as well. We got their food and it is honestly some of the best tasting Chinese takeout I've ever had. I like He's alot, they have a good selection, the food is always hot and it's one of the few places you can get both hot and cold bubble tea in Rochester. I've had their sushi and various Chinese dishes all are good. I didn't enjoy their wonton egg drop soup, it was very greasy. I found the kung Pao beef lacked in spice. We ordered Chicken & broccoli with a beef lo mein substitute, dumplings, avocado rolls and California rolls with coffee bubble tea and a Pepsi as a back up and they threw in a free order of fried cream cheese wantons. The chicken was OK but weirdly super flat in shape.The lo mein and broccoli were awesome. The dumplings weren't anything special, the California rolls weren't that good and the avocado rolls weren't either. The egg roll was pretty standard. The coffee bubble teas, (I know, the whole coffee in a tea should have been enough to say no) were so much worse than I feared. They had blueberries at the bottom with a straw that had an opening the size of a dime! The drink itself was terrible, it had a soapy aftertaste....yea SOAPY. I don't know if there are any other flavors that may actually be good but don't try this one. Stumbled upon this place while walking downtown and saw that they had bubble tea, one of my favorite drinks. I've had their passion fruit, mango, and lychee and all are very good. It's a small spot but they seem to have a lot of takeout whenever I'm there. I had one of their meals which was the beef with peppers which was very good. My review is solely on Bubble Tea since I've never tried any of their food... A colleague and myself braved the December weather to try the bubble tea which I've heard good things about. He's is located on Exchange Street which is perfect for downtown professionals to walk to. We passed on the food because we both had brought our lunch for the day. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant though and hope to try the food for lunch in the future. They also seem to do a good lunch special which attracted plenty of people in the short amount of time we were there. I tried the Peach tea with milk which was OK but a tad too sweet. The flavoring was strong and tasted very artificial which made the drink difficult to finish. My colleague tried the Plum tea which she seemed to enjoy a lot which is why I opted for three stars instead of two. I'd be willing to give this place another try for lunch and I've heard that they give you a free Bubble tea if you "check-in" using your mobile device. I was really craving Chinese food so I decided to try this place out. It is located right off of the corner on state and main so it is great for those of us who work downtown. The restaurant is very small with just a couple of tables and chairs for it you want to eat there. I would probably just sit in there to wait for your order and then eat elsewhere. It looks to be fairly clean but there are things that look dirty simply because of age. The floors and the garbage cans look kind of gross but you can also tell that they have been through a lot. I got fried rice, sesame chicken, and a soda. The price was fair especially for downtown and the food was pretty good. I enjoyed the chicken but felt that the fried rice could use more flavor. The staff were very friendly and are helpful for if you have questions. Although they have a few staples always made for when you walk in, there is a full take out menu you can order from. You can also order ahead for pick up and they do delivery. Overall, I would prefer elsewhere if I really wanted a good Chinese dinner but for a quick lunch when I have a hankering, this will do. read more
