    The Mochi dessert.
    Rob G.

We were going out to dinner for sushi and I happened to look at a listing of the best sushi restaurants in Rochester and Poke' was listed as the best so we thought we'd give it a try. It's a funky little restaurant in the South Wedge - with a nice atmosphere and cozy set up. There is a bar there too that some people were sitting at, but we sat at a table. I ordered an IPA of course. And my wife had water. The menu looked great with Japanese specialties and different sushi offerings. They also had a small card on the table with specials where you could order two or three types of sushi and get salad or soup with it. My wife had the two types of sushi and I had the three. But I ended up bringing some home so two would've been enough for me. We ordered steamed dumplings with pork in them for an appetizer, and they were excellent, with a great sauce that I kept to use for my sushi. The sushi was very good too. I had eel, tuna, and salmon as my three types of sushi. All fantastic! We decided to order the Mochi for dessert. I misunderstood and thought it was some type of ice cream, but it was really like a rice thing that I wasn't too keen on, but that's just me. So overall, I would rate the service great, the atmosphere also great. The appetizer and sushi were fantastic too. The salad and dessert were so so in my eyes, but I don't go out for that. I go out for the sushi and therefore I'm giving it five stars for what I go out for. We'll be back to check it out again.

The worst soup I have ever had. Ever. Not even just ramen- soup in general. Super bad. Love the sushi here! Have both sat down and ordered out a few times with no problems. Just ordered tantanem ramen as a pick up order and holy cow. A quarter cup of broth. A hockey puck of overcooked and resolidified noodles. 3 pieces of bokchoy. Sitting here eating it like it's spaghetti and meat sauce. They also forgot our miso soup. Idk if the water wasn't working back in that kitchen or what. Tragic. Felt like absolutely no care was taken to prepare the order. Will not be ordering pickup from them again.

Truly a gem! Always had a great experience here and was seated right away when they opened. The service is quick. Ambiance is casual but you can also dress up. Food is phenomenal. Never had a mediocre sushi here, every roll I've tried has been delicious. The sushi is presented in a vibrant dish with many specialty rolls that you won't be able to find anywhere else. Parking is all street parking which can sometimes make it difficult.

I would deduct half a star for cleanliness. The place had bugs and the tables were a little dusty. But the sushis were amazing! It was packed on a Monday evening and also, they had a lot of online orders. So, the service could be a little slow but I wouldn't blame them. Sushi's we tried: Lox: 5/5 my favorite Philadelphia sushi with smoked salmon: 5/5 Shrimp tempura, spicy salmon and sweet potato: 5/5 Mango maki: 3/5 would skip this next time. Pan seared chicken dumpling: 5/5 Kimchi fried rice: 2/5 had hardly any flavor. Under seasoned I got the hot sake to drink and it was pretty good however my wife's cocktail Juniper dreams was tasteless, watered down and very less quantity for the price.

Checked out this spot for a celebratory dinner. A warm cozy place with ambient interior. This is not a big place but the people have big hearts so you don't feel it's crowded. Got seats at the bar. Bartender was very nice and kind. We spoke about everything under the Sun but never asked their name (my bad!). They also knew what to recommend. Their house Sake is amazing. Definitely worth a try if you are into sake. They have some nice cocktails too. The Peruvian Sour had a kick to it and got you alert for the sushi. The sushi was delicious. They have great sweet potato rolls. Warms you up from within. The Seoul boy roll was the winner of the night. It had everything in it and was an enjoyable journey to try it. Pablo Escolar roll was good but had way too much Mayonnaise in it in my opinion. Not for me but if you are someone who likes mayo on rice go for it! Their wasabi was perfect too. Nicely sliced ginger as well.

Glad I finally was able to stop in after driving by here every day to work! It's a nice addition to the South Wedge and I was quite pleased with my experience. Loved the atmosphere, there is a little bar with maybe 8 or so tables, many of which are 2 seaters. Nice lighting, background music and overall ambiance. I'm a sucker for the charm of the architecture in this neighborhood which lends itself to this restaurants very intimate cozy feel. Would be a great date night place, meal with a friend etc.. The rolls I had were delicious and beautifully prepared. I was very pleased and actually brought some home to my partner, as they were also pretty generously portioned. My gin based cocktail was both gorgeous and tasty, and also not a light pour, which I appreciate! There are a bunch of other menu items that piqued my interest-definitely a return visit in the future.

This place has become my go-to for sushi in the ROC. You'd think the small seating area would feel cramped and claustrophobic, but it actually lends itself well to a nice, intimate atmosphere. The chefs are working in the corner so you can watch them prep your masterpiece if you like. There's a large, full bar with flights of sake and Japanese whiskey, along with numerous cocktail offerings. I've never had anything that was less than fresh and beautifully prepared here One comment for winter dining: not sure if it was just an odd night when I was there but it doesn't seem to be very well-heated when the weather is cold. Might be on purpose due to the nature of the cuisine, but a lot of us were dining with our jackets still on to stay warm. If you like sushi, this is a must-try!

Firstly, huge shoutout to Shirelle, our bartender. She was an all-star. I had the Peruvian Sour and my brother, the Smokin' Aces. Both drinks were pleasant to the tongue and very well executed. Secondly, the food was phenomenal. I found myself requesting seconds of the miso soup (photo-attached) because of how much I enjoyed it. The spicy salmon roll I ordered was clean, fresh, and awesomely presented (photo-attached). The restaurant was clean, inviting, well lit, and decorations culturally relevant to the theme. All of the staff was friendly and extroverted, which made us super comfortable. To top it all off, the music was on point, y'all! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and definitely plan on returning to try more menu items and drinks. Hope to see you guys there!

This was a surprise dinner spot ... and what a good find it was! I'm really picky about my sushi and Poke sushi didn't disappoint. Some awesome and interesting rolls! But don't get surprised that this isn't a poke bowl spot but is an awesome sushi spot. A very small place and only two sushi chefs so it takes time - but that's every good sushi place. If you like sushi and haven't been I definitely recommend!

Wow. Wish I had known about this place sooner. Gyoza - absolutely delicious. O'Ren roll - absolutely delicious. Black Mamba roll - absolutely delicious. The ambiance inside was nice and quaint, small. The only negative experience was the server was slow. We were never asked if we wanted another drink or if we needed anything, and it took longer than it should have to get the bill and get out of there. Delicious food though, I can't wait to come back and try some more of their options.

We arrived for lunch and I couldn't help but noticing the inside is quite dark even though it was bright outside. I feel like the lighting is certainly something to work on. It must feel cozy in the evening with dim light but I prefer bright and open during the day. It's been a while so I don't remember what I ordered. Overall the rolls were tasty and they came fast. There's a full bar, too but we didn't order drinks. Anyway a good spot for lunch if you're in the area.

The space is cozy and inviting, with booths wrapped around the conveyor belt so you can immediately start eyeing the plates gliding by. The sushi on the belt was fresh and tasty, though we noticed the selection leaned a bit heavily toward spicy‑mayo‑based rolls. Everything we tried was delicious, but we would have loved to see a little more variety for those who prefer something less saucy. Thankfully, the touchscreen ordering system made it easy to branch out. You can order drinks and à la carte sushi directly from the screen, and your items arrive on a dedicated upper‑deck conveyor that zips your order straight to your table. It's a clever setup and really helps round out the meal with more options. Drinks were delivered by an adorable robot, which added a fun, whimsical touch. Tables were cleared promptly, and the whole experience felt smooth and well‑run. We had a great time and will definitely be returning.

You are seated at a tablet in front of a conveyor belt with the sushi making it's way around the restaurant. You can take whatever catches your eye as it passes in front of you, or you can order from the tablet. If you order from the tablet, little cars bring the food on a second, higher conveyor belt above the first one, or sometimes a robot brings it to your seat. So there are 2 moving belts, robots, and servers. It's a lot! Fun, but be aware. It is cool that you can see things moving past and try different things. The plates on the belt are also less than a full order, which means you can try more things, if that's your style. Service is pretty quick since you're helping yourself from the belt. They do a good job making sure there is a variety of items on the belt and seemed to restock pretty quickly. You can mostly chose from rolls and nigiri. I do like American style rolls, and enjoyed the options. The guy prefers nigiri. We ordered some tempura and picked some nigiri from the menu as well. I really enjoyed the veggie tempura. They have good salmon - we tried the peppered salmon, which he thought was too much, but was smokey and peppery, and I enjoyed. There was also a spicy yellowtail, and plain salmon that was also nice quality. We shared an ice cream sundae with one of the little fish shaped cakes for dessert, which was really good. I liked the little cake with the red bean paste inside. It was fun and pretty low key.

We came here on a packed Saturday night when RIT's Nova group was hosting a fundraiser, so we got discounted AYCE and we knew a portion of proceeds were going to their organization. The wait was about 50 minutes at peak dinner time, so that was fair. I was very impressed with how clean and efficient everything was, including the cart at the end of the table for used dishes. Our food came out fairly quickly as we ordered on the tablet, and it was the kind of quality you always hope to get at a sushi joint: nice sized portions, very fresh tasting, lovely presentation. I appreciated that you could also help yourself to the rotating belt options for no extra charge. The only things we paid extra for were fountain drinks, and even those included refills (or so we were told - we only had one). The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. I hope whatever issues people experienced here in the past have been resolved because it sure felt like a top tier experience at an affordable price to me! If you get the all you can eat, you order off the regular menu, and they bring it out fresh to order for one set price. You can share with other people at your table, if they also order all you can eat. Which was another plus for me. It is also, what we decided to do. Our approach was to try a little at a time, so we could try as much as possible. We both ordered different things, with the intent on sharing. I ordered 2 sushi rolls. One I wanted and one my BF asked me to order. He is relatively new to Sushi. He ordered Beef Teriyaki, with steak, rice and Zucchini. My BF said he did not like Zucchini. But he loved everything about this dish. Real steak, the Zucchini was cut thick, so it had a nice crunch to it. The sauce was out of this world. Very different from Beef Teriyaki I've had at other Japanese restaurants. Lots of flavor, not salt. I really liked the Sushi rolls I ordered, but my BF ended up only trying 2, before he decided he wanted to move on to other things. Leaving me to finish the Sushi myself. Which filled me up pretty good. When I go back, I am not going to oblige him with that courtesy again. Haha! Next time I will order one roll, so Im not too full to try more menu items. It's quite the menu. If you do not like Sushi, no worries, they have a wide variety of hot dishes and appetizers. They have a food waste policy, which I thought was a huge plus. A lot of items on the menu are small plate foods, so it shouldn't be a problem. BF received his food first, there was a bit of a wait for the sushi, I heard a lot of people ordering a lot of Sushi upfront. Which probably backed it up a bit. But it was not a problem. I just helped BF eat his steak dish. lol. You do not have to order everything at once. Staff walks around checking on you keeping a close eye out. You can order more items off the menu as you go. The Ambiance was also very nice.Very comfortable, perfect for date, family, or friend nights out. They also had some whimsy, which is nice. Their Uniforms, have a Yoda saying on it. Which is definitely fun to note. The food was fresh, and delicious. A great way to upscale "all you can eat" I will definitely be back. Usually I cannot eat enough to make all you can eat worth it. But I would do it again here. Our bill was reasonable. But If I knew exactly what I wanted and it was less expensive than all you can eat. I would also order off the menu. This is my new favorite Sushi Restaurant. They do serve alcohol. Wine, beer, and sake. The beers are mostly Japanese beers. Staff were super friendly, happy, and helpful. They will walk you through the process. They have real menus, and also a QR code menu. The only improvement I would recommend, is that once they take your initial order. It would be nice to be able to use the QR code to order more items, instead of waiting on staff. I think it would work great with their food waste policy. But that's just a friendly suggestion. When I do reviews, I do take pics of the ladies room, if no one is in there. I think it should be normalized. Theirs was impeccable. The entire establishment was super clean.

There were about 10 people ahead of me on the waiting list, and the food quality remained delicious throughout the meal. The service was also keeping up with the demand. The sashimi was incredible. I can't say I don't like any sashimi, but I love them all. Almost every sushi and sashimi we ordered was delicious. However, there's one thing I don't care for: the sticky rice shumai/shu mai. We think it's lacking in flavor. Overall, we had a great time at this restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service was good. I do think there's room for improvement in the dessert menu. They could add a few more options, like fresh fruits, Japanese mochi, or egg tarts. That's just my opinion, though.

We ordered a Dream Roll and a 2 in 1 roll. Neither were that great and the dream roll was missing the tuna and salmon it was supposed to have and they used a crab stick instead of real crab which was disappointing as well. The 2 in 1 roll was ok but nothing special.
