We dropped by here for a casual dinner before going to Mesa Arts. They weren't very busy at 6:30 on a Friday night. I picked this location becuase of the previous good reviews and the wide variety of food options. DH had the BATT and I had the Turkey Spinach wrap. Both were made as requested and very tasty. I liked that the turkey in my sandwich wasn't "deli" style, but real turkey. Both meals were delivered to our table quickly. The space was clean, although the table was quite wobbly. It wasn't clear that they had fountain drinks, so DH got a canned soda which was not well chilled. A cup and ice took care of that issue. I guess there use to be a Schlotsky at this location according to some of the Google Photos. A new person was being trained to take orders. Located next to Bashas', Knuckle Sandwiches had plenty of parking and indoor seating. Pick up and take out orders were always finished before the estimated time but there were occasionally mix-ups. Staff members were friendly and ready to help although they sometimes struggle with the register. They had an extensive selection of desserts, beverages and condiments. Sauces were self serve and the strawberry dressing for the salad was vibrant and fruity. When dining in, our orders would be completed within 10 minutes. =ORDERED= All sandwiches came with a sliced pickle. *Breakfast Burrito: ordered the steak burrito for $1 more but unfortunately received a bacon one instead. Came with plenty of chewy bacon however. One of the heftiest burritos I've ordered and came with in house made pico de gallo. Tortilla was stuffed with fluffy eggs, gooey cheese and softened onions and green peppers. *Turkey Cranberry: perfect embodiment of autumn in a sandwich. Savory chunks of turkey smothered in a thick gravy and sweet cranberry sauce, all shoved in a fluffy brioche bun. Gravy can also be asked for on the side but it's so viscous that I rather have the kitchen apply it for me. *Steak Sub: a heavier sandwich that I usually can divide into two meals. The flank steak was cut on the thicker side and was enveloped in provolone and mozzarella. Loved how sweet and caramelized the onions were while the piles of mushrooms added such earthiness and umami. The horseradish was very subtle and the sandwich could be better with some more sauce to cut through the richness. *Hero: a good Italian sandwich but it's not as mind-blowing as the others. Considering it's under their knockout sandwiches, I was hoping for more meat to justify the higher price point but it was less filling that their simpler sandwiches. Needed more salami, ham, mortadella, pepperoni, and capicola to balance the ratio of sub roll to filling. *Patty Melt: simple but executed well. Plenty of caramelized onions on a thick patty and toasted bread and swiss. Cooked medium rare unless specified. *Knuckle Colada: overly sweet and pineapple soda forward. Wished there was more coconut flavor and creaminess. Had the consistency of soda with a funky aftertaste. Blessed to have such a great restaurant near work. We live down in Chandler and were in the area for an event, and several times throughout the meal, we kept saying how good our sandwiches were. I feel like it's a challenge to find a good sandwich place, and I wish we lived closer to this location. Along with the quality of the sandwich, another topic we kept saying was the value of the sandwich. There's a popular chain in the East Valley, which is good, but in my opinion, you don't get much for what you're paying. I'm not going to name which one it is, but I always have to order two sandwiches there.... on top of my soup. At Knuckle Sandwiches, I enjoyed each bite, and by the time we finished, I felt satisfied and had no further cravings. The sandwich I went with was the Pastrami Reuben. It's one of my go-to's and an easy sandwich to mess up. The pastrami was flavorful and moist, and the bread was soft and crispy. Each bit had the right amount of sauerkraut, cheese, and thousand island dressing. I ordered mine with 6 oz of meat, and I think it's a pretty convenient option to let the customer pick their meat level. If you're hungrier, add more meat! Decided to try this place with my husband and dad while he was in town and two of us got the Philly cheesesteak and my husband got the bacon grilled cheese. Overall the Philly cheese steak was ok, the sandwich itself was great and the meat but I wasn't a fan of the cheese sauce, I would have preferred regular sliced cheese melted over the top. I have passed by many times this location on Higley. And I'm like it's just a sandwich I don't feel like a sandwich today and boy was I wrong. I stopped in today and ordered a Dagwood and by the time I watch them make it I realized there is no way I could eat this in the car or make it home without destroying the inside of my truck. The sandwich comes with two types of cheeses but I don't like cheese so I left it off it had plenty of chicken and Ham both fresh carved not cold cuts. All I can say is it was an amazing sandwich fresh tasting ingredients and the only thing I would change next time is add mayonnaise to it a little bit because removing the cheese and it needed a little fat in it. I also would like to see them at a Sprinkle of Lawry's seasoned salt but even some regular salt next time too. I definitely am coming back for another one of these and to try whatever else is on the menu and the price was very reasonable compared to what you were paying for sandwiches everywhere else excellent job well done. Just had lunch at Knuckle. First impression wasn't too great as I was left standing at the counter for what felt like a solid 10 min before anyone presented themselves. I contemplated walking out towards the end of the wait. I ordered the Knockout (Large size) B.L.A.T.T (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Turkey, Tomato) and substituted the standard brioche bun for a pretzel bun (since I saw other sandwiches on the menu use the pretzel). Only heard the total and paid but when I added things up after, noticed I was charged a $1 for the switch of buns. Ok, not a huge upcharge but I do wish I was notified before paying. The sandwich comes and the first thing I notice is the bun, which doesn't resemble any pretzel bun I've ever seen. It pretty much looks like a standard white bun with a flaky outer crust. The amount of meat included for the large size was satisfactory but my biggest complaint is the rest of the toppings were pitiful compared to the massive amount of meat. I would guess maybe a 1/4 avocado was used, a little mayo, two bacon slices, one tomato slice, and some shredded lettuce. Overall the little amount of other toppings made for a pretty dry sandwich. And for the $13.80 charged, it was filling but overall not up to what I was expecting as an overall sandwich experience. A little more mayo and avocado would have gone a long way. If I returned, I definitely would try another sandwich and would think twice before ordering the large in anything, because it's apparent only the meat portion increases with the size change and not the rest of the toppings (which isn't much to begin with). read more

Now this is my second time coming back to this place... and boy it has not changed since Rosco first opened this place up! Had their Cuban this time and my mind was blown away. It was as authentic as it gets and reminded me of childhood. The flat was amazing and the bread added a nice touch to it. What makes it so great? That it's not complicated! Tried Knuckle Sandwiches for the first time today with my husband, and I am glad we did! It's no wonder why this place is so highly rated by my fellow Yelpers. Upon entering you walk up to the counter to place your order. We stood off to the side as we needed time to review the menu and didntwant to hold up the line. After a quick menu review I decided on the B.L.A.T.T. It's essentially a BLT with avocado and turkey. There are 3 different sizes of sandwiches to choose from the "Jab" which is 3 oz of meat, the "hook" which is 6 oz of meat and the "knockout" which is 9 oz of meat. I chose the small(3oz of meat) When my husband and I checked in we received check in offer for a free small drink with a 5 dollar or more purchase. After a short wait our sandwiches were done and it was dig in. The sandwich was so very good. Now, I am not a huge fan of shredded lettuce on sandwiches, and that is what was on this particular sandwich I would have preferred a big slice of tomato and a leaf of romaine. This is my preference and did not make the sandwich bad. Also, I felt the bacon was too crispy, again a matter of personal preference. Overall the sandwich was good, and was served with a pickle spear. They have a soda machine and different varieties of sodas, teas. They offer various sides, salads, wraps, kids menu, vegetarian options, gluten-free and breakfast. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was upbeat and friendly and the service was great. I will never be hungry again. I was visiting AZ briefly for a friend's wedding, and I took an afternoon to treat my grandfather's widow to lunch. She doesn't get out much anymore, and we had no idea where to go. I checked yelp for a recommendation nearby, and we landed at this awesome spot. First of all, the location is where I held my second ever job over two decades ago when it used to be a Schlotzsky's Deli, so bonus points for nostalgia. Second of all, the dagwood sandwich has to be one of most delicious, humungous sandwiches I've ever had in my life. This was no deli sliced situation. The ham slices were thick carved, the chicken and turkey were moist, and the pickles were insanely good along with the remaining "kitchen sink" of toppings. The gents behind the counter kindly sliced up some lemon for our waters, and service was prompt with a wait of only 4 - 5 minutes for our food.
