They had a great special you get a Corn Chowder but they allowed us to switch to French Onion Soup without the croutons. This was so sweet of them and the soup was AMAZING! The cheese was so goey and the perfect amount of cheese to soup ratio! It also came with a Tomatoe and Mozzarella Salad eith Balsalmic which was so fresh and delicious! I'm torn between a three and a four star review. In the past, I would've given them a 4 to 5 review and I honestly can't believe I haven't posted a review before at this restaurant as it had been one of our favorites for years and a place we frequent when at the shore. I recognize menus change, but I'm guessing the chef changed as well. So many items are called the same name as they were on the previous menu yet they are not same, like a shadow of its predecessor. I will say the cowboy steak was amazingly prepared and delicious. If I was reviewing that alone it'd be a 5 star review. Our waitress was nice but I definitely got the feeling of disappointment when we didn't order appetizers, we prefer to order extra sides and drinks which more than make up that in the end. Just some people don't and it sucks to feel like you're not a table worth waiting on. The saddest experience was the dessert. The sticky toffee dessert was my favorite thing in the world. It was fabulous. It's still on the menu, but it is not the same dessert by any stretch of the imagination. It now tastes like someone cut the bran muffin in half and poured some sugary sweetness on it and then served it with clotted cream that was not tasty. It used to be a tiny dessert that came with ice cream. It was so rich and was beyond delicious. It is actually a challenging dessert to make, so I'm guessing they've changed to this new version to save time but honestly they should just take it off the menu if you're not going to do it properly. If that plate was served on Top Chef and they would've crucified the chef as it looked and tasted horrible. Only gets better...worse, Our server was untrained, most likely smoked up, drink order was off, took some time to return, finally got our order in. Wanted to get to a event at Caesars, 10:00. They did not put our order in! Two hours Lost ticket, the manager came up and lied, said the server fell on the way up the stairs. No, did not happen the incompetent server did not put our order in. She came back with round of drinks, think they were supposed to be gimlets, now why would she not just bring us what we were drinking to try to make things right? They sat untouched. About to go out the door when they dropped off the steak and lobster, no, will not accept and put with this. Terrible management and servers, what part of service am I missing? Almost forgot the hostesses, diner quality. Conclusion, avoid this place, over priced, over rated and really bad staff, from the hostesses to the servers to the management. This place is so good! I am so happy to had make a last minute reservation. A little off the boardwalk but still easily accessible. This place is busy but we had a lovely seat upstairs next to a window. We appreciated the interior design and loved to know that this place has been around for 100 years. Our waitress was fantastic and helpful with the menu. She was attentive with our food and drinks. The seafood tower was amazing and felt worth it for $56. The filet was tender and making it "Oscar" style was a great idea. My boyfriend didn't like his steak as much as mine but said it was decent. What a nice spot in Atlantic City! I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night and boy oh boy is it busy! You'll definitely want a reservation for this spot. There is valet and a little bit of self parking for cars but plan accordingly as it is a small parking lot. My server, Elizabeth, was incredible. I have been hearing about this place forever,and finally had a chance to go see what all the talk was about. It's April so it wasn't that busy. My sister in law loved the halibut saying it was one of the best she ever had. The salmon was also perfectly prepared. The seafood risotto was packed with shrimp, scallops and crab. We could only get a 4pm reservation so we snatched it up. The bar and second floor were packed when we arrived. They have a small lot and valet parking. The restaurant is a large old house. You have to walk up the stairs to get to the floor you're dining on. We were taken up to the 4th floor and had a great view of the ocean. Omar, our waiter and everyone who helped us were great. Drinks are reasonably priced. They had a good wine list at $12 a glass. We started with the calamari- light and crispy and not chewy at all. Sliders were medium rare with cheese and onions. Came in from Brigantine for dinner last Sunday night. The restaurant has valet which makes driving there a breeze. We didn't have to wait long for our reservation. The dining room upstairs has a very old medieval vibe. It was an eclectic crowd dining there. Carmen, our server, was very friendly and helped make menu and drink recommendations. We each had a bowl of soup to start. My husband said the french onion was one of the best he had. I enjoyed my corn & crab chowder. For mains, I went with the halibut per my servers recommendation. I sent it back and even after it came back out 5 minutes later warmed up, it still didn't taste very good. We've enjoyed items, such as, duck confit and a seafood sampler, and these items never disappointed us. Their happy hour deals are usually for the food, but we still like the enjoy a few cocktails with our meal. I've had a bees knee and an old fashion and they were very enjoyable. We've been there for dinner and I love their Lobster Thermidor. It's so delicious, creamy and so unique. A little pricy but a must try. The restaurant gives off a romantic dining experience. They have a decent amount seating, however, spacing and seats are very limited for happy hour. It's available only by the bar and it doesn't hold a lot of people. I also recommend getting there a little early to line up for the happy hour. It can fill up fast. They used to allow people to sit on the high top tables, but they may have stopped that. We ordered up a High Roller Manhattan for each of us then we had to get the star of the show.. their INCREDIBLE Seafood Sampler for two amazingly priced at $56! Seating is set up on three floors of the building so if you have mobility issues, be sure to tell them when you make a rez. The three salads we had we huge and delicious. We had the beet salad, a ceasar and an arugula. Not one disappointed. We also had the French onion soup, which was tasty and cheesy. The crabcake was large, fresh and had almost no filling. My husband and I came here for a Thursday night dinner while in town. I wish we were seated upstairs as it is a beautiful old building with a unique charm! People were sitting at the beautiful bar watching football as the ambiance of the whole place feels like a storybook-- warm and cozy. There were couples on date night and also large groups.... We didn't see any kids since it was a later dinner. The Duck Confit was cooked to perfection and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The Seafood Risotto was also cooked to perfection with generous helping of tender seafood. My husband enjoyed his cowboy steak and while we didn't have to have the green beans side because the portions are so generous, it was not a disappointment with its crunch and savory complement to the meal! They were super nice offer us their favorite take of the menu. We got seated up stairs. It was dim lit, and reminded me of an old Italian restaurant. The place seems pretty dated, but has a nice charm, I can not explain it. We get our menus and my lady sees an order than can accommodate both of our food needs. It's called the knife and fork dinner, which came out to $76.00 bucks. It came with the corn and crab chowder, a small Jersey tomato salad, the infamous lobster thermidor and an 8 oz filet. We also ordered parm Brussels sprouts. Wow. Deliciously made might I add. The service was amazing. Tony asked us if we had any room for desert and we sadly said no. We doubted we would get in, but we completely lucked out and got two seats at the bar, which is our preferred way to dine. Not only was the food amazing - particularly the fried oysters and filet - but the service was superb! Russ at the bar couldn't have been more attentive and helpful. We dine out a lot, so we really appreciate when the server/bartender is so professional. Russ is a true asset and a damn good mixologist! For Valentine's Day weekend, my wife and I dined at the historical and exquisite Knife & Fork Inn on Friday, 2.13.26, since the 14th was totally booked. It was her first time there and mine since childhood. The menu was so extensive that it made it a bit of a welcoming challenge to focus on a particular choice. For starters, our huge portion of the Corn & Crab Chowder was the best that we have ever had and the Artisanal Cheese Plate was delectably wide-ranging. My wife loved the Halibut and my Bone-In Pork Chop was superb. Our cordial and diligent waiter, Carmen, who took service to the next level, suggested the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert and we were very glad that he did as it was perfectly sized to share! Before we arrived, I mentioned to my wife that this would be a top dining experience and it was more than that with the historical ambiance, service and the spectacular menu options. Was there last weekend, Sunday night. First red flag was I was able to get in. Ordered the Ribeye Steak, it's my go to steak regardless where i eat. Steak came out, looked extremely dark, waited for everyone to get their meals, cut into it, looks dry. First bite was awful, no juices, no flavor, finished about a quarter of the steak. There was a Nice size bar when you walk in. The service in the private room was pretty good. The food came out in the appropriate amount of time. Apps- the charcuterie board had a nice selections of cheeses, the crab avocado app was good but needed more crab, and the sliders were a hit. The steaks were not cooked to temperature as ordered but everyone was still happy with their dinners.
