This restaurant establishment is a favorite of ours when we want to celebrate a special occasion or want to enjoy a more chic or refined happy hour. They have a nice selection of steaks and seafood on their menu. Their happy hour usually consists less surf and more turf dishes, compared to their sister restaurants. We've enjoyed items, such as, duck confit and a seafood sampler, and these items never disappointed us. Their happy hour deals are usually for the food, but we still like the enjoy a few cocktails with our meal. I've had a bees knee and an old fashion and they were very enjoyable. We've been there for dinner and I love their Lobster Thermidor. It's so delicious, creamy and so unique. A little pricy but a must try. The restaurant gives off a romantic dining experience. They have a decent amount seating, however, spacing and seats are very limited for happy hour. It's available only by the bar and it doesn't hold a lot of people. I also recommend getting there a little early to line up for the happy hour. It can fill up fast. They used to allow people to sit on the high top tables, but they may have stopped that. For Valentine's Day weekend, my wife and I dined at the historical and exquisite Knife & Fork Inn on Friday, 2.13.26, since the 14th was totally booked. It was her first time there and mine since childhood. The menu was so extensive that it made it a bit of a welcoming challenge to focus on a particular choice. For starters, our huge portion of the Corn & Crab Chowder was the best that we have ever had and the Artisanal Cheese Plate was delectably wide-ranging. My wife loved the Halibut and my Bone-In Pork Chop was superb. Our cordial and diligent waiter, Carmen, who took service to the next level, suggested the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert and we were very glad that he did as it was perfectly sized to share! Before we arrived, I mentioned to my wife that this would be a top dining experience and it was more than that with the historical ambiance, service and the spectacular menu options. I have been hearing about this place forever,and finally had a chance to go see what all the talk was about. It's April so it wasn't that busy. My sister in law loved the halibut saying it was one of the best she ever had. The salmon was also perfectly prepared. The seafood risotto was packed with shrimp, scallops and crab. There is valet and a little bit of self parking for cars but plan accordingly as it is a small parking lot. My server, Elizabeth, was incredible. Super nice, matched the chill vibe I was emitting, and was very on top of service. Food was excellent- loved the lobster bisque (though I do prefer my bisque a bit creamier) and the salmon was an absolute delight. We could only get a 4pm reservation so we snatched it up. The bar and second floor were packed when we arrived. They have a small lot and valet parking. The restaurant is a large old house. You have to walk up the stairs to get to the floor you're dining on. We were taken up to the 4th floor and had a great view of the ocean. Omar, our waiter and everyone who helped us were great. Drinks are reasonably priced. They had a good wine list at $12 a glass. We started with the calamari- light and crispy and not chewy at all. Sliders were medium rare with cheese and onions. Everyone loved the thick cut bacon and Cesar salad. We ordered multiple filets and the pork chop for dinner. The filet comes with broccolini. They were cooked to perfection! Mashed potatoes, onions rings, carrots, crispy beans and oysters exceeded our expectations. It's not listed on the menu but they will make a plate for the kids too! Came in from Brigantine for dinner last Sunday night. The restaurant has valet which makes driving there a breeze. We didn't have to wait long for our reservation. The dining room upstairs has a very old medieval vibe. It was an eclectic crowd dining there. Carmen, our server, was very friendly and helped make menu and drink recommendations. We each had a bowl of soup to start. My husband said the french onion was one of the best he had. I enjoyed my corn & crab chowder. For mains, I went with the halibut per my servers recommendation. Unfortunately, the dish missed the mark. It came out cold and rubbery./ tough - it was clearly overcooked and then sat there for a while before being served. I sent it back and even after it came back out 5 minutes later warmed up, it still didn't taste very good. My husband's dish on the other hand came out nice and warm and he thoroughly enjoyed the short rib. We also got the fried green beans as a side - tasty and a huge portion. The chowder was sweet and succulent, the mozzarella was fresh and flavorful, the lobster was decadent, and the filet was juicy and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Everything was absolutely amazing! My friends ordered the seafood risotto and the filet mignon, and they both loved their meals. The risotto is made with shrimp, crab, scallops, asparagus, and mushrooms. We each had a drink and we were pleased with the bartender's efforts. We had a wedge salad and lobster bisque as starters. My wife got the lamb chops and I got the 12oz sirlion (mid rare). The mashed potatoes and beer battered string beans were delicious sides. We needed to take food home because the portions are large. We finished with coffee and figgy sticky pudding. Seating is set up on three floors of the building so if you have mobility issues, be sure to tell them when you make a rez. The three salads we had we huge and delicious. We had the beet salad, a ceasar and an arugula. Not one disappointed. We also had the French onion soup, which was tasty and cheesy. The crabcake was large, fresh and had almost no filling. It was just jumbo crab meat. The seafood risotto had shrimp, scallops and crab. It was creamy and really tasty. The winner of the night was the surf and turf. My husband and I came here for a Thursday night dinner while in town. I wish we were seated upstairs as it is a beautiful old building with a unique charm! People were sitting at the beautiful bar watching football as the ambiance of the whole place feels like a storybook-- warm and cozy. There were couples on date night and also large groups.... We didn't see any kids since it was a later dinner. The Duck Confit was cooked to perfection and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The Seafood Risotto was also cooked to perfection with generous helping of tender seafood. There was a Nice size bar when you walk in. The service in the private room was pretty good. The food came out in the appropriate amount of time. Apps- the charcuterie board had a nice selections of cheeses, the crab avocado app was good but needed more crab, and the sliders were a hit. The steaks were not cooked to temperature as ordered but everyone was still happy with their dinners. I had the tuna from the dinner menu- the tuna was cooked perfectly and served over vegetables and rice. Sides to share for the table - Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and scalloped potatoes. I love the ambiance although we were there for lunch and even when not at full capacity it is loud. My cocktail was very good. My friend liked the corn and crab soup and the salad was tasty. Both our entrees were disappointing. A good portion of food that was almost tasteless. I ordered the croquet madame because I like gruyere cheese. I could see some cheese but not taste it. My friend's flounder didn't taste any better than Gordon's frozen food. Servers that stop at the tabke and ask if your food is good is probably a thing of the past. I visit this restaurant every year for a work conference and it's an incredible experience! The staff is always unbelievably kind and accommodating to our large group. The historic charm of the building is amazing and they always decorate so beautifully for the holidays. The food is also fantastic! I always order the Knife & Fork Dinner, which is an epic feast. It comes with corn chowder, which I always swap out for the French Onion Soup, a Caprese salad and a petit Filet and Lobster Thermidor. If you've never had it, it's a French dish with lobster meat that's cooked in a wine sauce, stuffed back into the lobster shell. It's to die for! We also all shared several desserts and the Lemon Ricotta Doughnuts were the winner! Came here for first time on Saturday night and the experience was so so. This is a historic place and the waitress didn't even ask if the first time or explain anything about the restaurant. There was nothing explained about the menu such as a special or what would be good to order. The filet mignon were just ok and mine was over cooked. The red wine was served very warm and the music was totally wrong for a private elegant dinning experience. We sat next to an out obnoxious group who has their phones on speaker and FaceTime when we were trying to eat. Everyone was looking at them and so not enjoyable. Over all for the $200 price point it's better to go to a Casino steak place than have this ok food and dinning experience. read more

They were super nice offer us their favorite take of the menu. We got seated up stairs. It was dim lit, and reminded me of an old Italian restaurant. The place seems pretty dated, but has a nice charm, I can not explain it. We get our menus and my lady sees an order than can accommodate both of our food needs. It's called the knife and fork dinner, which came out to $76.00 bucks. It came with the corn and crab chowder, a small Jersey tomato salad, the infamous lobster thermidor and an 8 oz filet. We also ordered parm Brussels sprouts. Wow. Deliciously made might I add. The service was amazing. Tony asked us if we had any room for desert and we sadly said no. After years of having this place on my checklist, we finally got a chance to experience this historical restaurant. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated right away. The staff were very friendly and the dining room has a great ambience for date night. Dimly lit and you can see the kitchen while you eat. Now on to the food. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Two of us ordered the porterhouse. In my opinion it was underseasoned. The sides were pretty good, but nothing really stuck out as amazing. The banana cream pie was epic. That alone is worth the trip. I would definitely like to try some other things on the menu next time. Overall I recommend giving this place a try, everyone's pallet is different.
