I thought long and hard about this review. The food was very good. The service by the waiter was polite professional and attentive but the experience may have been the worst I've ever had. When I came in the door the hostess charged me like a brama bull asking if I had a res. Yes I do I replied. Told the name of the res. Is that you she asked (what a nasty tone). Politely I replied no and then she said 'well let's just wait until they get here.' Delighting in turning people away another couple walked in no res and she says there's no way we can get you in. Again nasty with an edge. Like we the customers should be lucky if we were to get in. She was a complete ass. I'll never be back and I'll never recommend it again. This might be my new favorite restaurant in Atlantic City! Me and my husband made a last minute trip to AC for my birthday and I couldn't get a reservation in time for my favorite restaurant. I found this place and tried to make a reservation. It did take awhile to get through, I think they answered when I called like 10 or 11:00 on a Monday morning. I was happy I got a decent time though, I asked for 7:30 and they gave me 8:00. Once we got to AC I found out they had fireworks at 9:00. So I was like I don't know what to do. Cause I love fireworks I always try to see them when I can . But I didn't want to give up my reservation either , I was looking forward to it. So I tried calling every 5 minutes trying to get through to see if i could get an earlier reservation, even if we have to eat at like 4:30. I couldn't ready anyone though. So we were plotting what we were going to do, maybe tell them we wanted to eat fast, get our food to go? I was going to run out the back and try to catch them. I said let's just go to the restaurant earlier and try to get a table. We explained when we got there and they were packed , but they were very accommodating and gave us a table right by the window. I was happy that now we could relax and enjoy our meal and get drinks and an appetizer. We got the meatball appetizer because my husband always likes to get that. It was very good , prob one of the best meatballs I have ever had. I got the seafood pasta which was delicious. great flavor , the seafood was cooked perfectly, and a generous amount too. I was stuffed but ate everything. my husband got the veal rollatini which he really enjoyed also. The cocktails were great as well. We got dessert Togo because we were stuffed but really wanted it. The chocolate chip cheesecake was delicious. I think we got the tiramisu too which was ok but a little watery. Couldn't get a reservation for one of our favorite places in Atlantic City, because it was too much of a last minute trip. My wife was able to get a later time hear and we were just happy to have a reservation. Once in town, we heard there was a fireworks show that evening, but we'd have to rush our meal to get out in time. Throughout the day, we tried to call this place, but the phone didn't even appear to be on. Around 4 PM we were able to leave a message, but no one ever called us back. We tried to walk over at 6:30 to see if we could be seated earlier and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. They sat us in the front window and we made it to the fireworks in time. Now that we weren't rushed, we ordered grandma's pan-fried meatballs as an appetizer. Being a lover of meatballs and wanting to order them everywhere we go, these didn't disappoint. Great flavor. My wife ordered some crab, lobster, shrimp pasta that was good and I went with Veal Rollatini ala Tiana. Wanted to try something I've never had before, veal wrapped with prosciutto, spinach, mozzarella, with a wild mushroom risotto. Was a fantastic meal. We didn't want to eat dessert, but ordered tiramisu and cheesecake to take back to the hotel for. Both transported well and tasted great. When I arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday evening, I was drawn into the dimly lit and welcoming space, already bustling with diners engaged in lively conversation. We were seated in the back garden space, and while although beautiful, didn't have the same vibe as the indoor space that I so loved when I first entered. Despite the seating location, every dish we tried from start to finish was authentically Italian. Our servers were attentive and cordial, and described some of our menu choices in detail. For appetizers, we chose the pasta prepared in the cheese wheel, which was beyond delicious, and just the right portion size. We also went with the Spicy Stuffed Calamari. The heat and flavors were so perfectly balanced, and the calamari was so tender. For our Mains, my husband opted for the Chicken Parmigiana Bolognese alla Vodka Fra Diavolo, and I ordered the Chicken Clemente. Both dishes were delicious, with the Chicken Clemente being my favorite! We ended up taking some to go, along with the Blueberry Cheesecake and Italian Cheesecake. The next time I plan a visit to AC, I'll definitely return, and request a table in the Main Dining Room to enjoy more of their delicious food! read more

The patio is def a lighter vibe than the main restaurant, but still elegant and fun! Order was table side caesar, table side cheese wheel pasta, chicken Parmesan, and Sunday Sauce. I'd heard it was nearly impossible to snag a reservation at Cafe 2825 or Chef Vola's, but while in Atlantic City, my fiancé and I thought we'd try our luck. Calls to both restaurants mostly led to voicemails. Chef Vola's told us they couldn't accommodate us last-minute, which was understandable. So we decided to show up at Cafe 2825 anyway, since we heard a lot of positive reviews about Cafe 2825. Thankfully, they seated us within ten minutes, even though we were walk ins! The restaurant is on the smaller side, and we were seated in the rear room, which had three or four wall air conditioners blasting, definitely too cold for a comfortable meal in June. I actually had to step outside to warm up after finishing my meal! Despite the chill, the food more than made up for it. I had the Chicken Parmigiana Bolognese ala Vodka Fra Diavolo, and substituted marinara sauce for the bolognese, and I still dream about it! The chicken was perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the flavors were heavenly. I wish that it came with an accompanying side. Or they had sides of pasta, instead of whole pasta dishes. I ordered the spinach garlic & oil as my side, which was perfectly infused with garlic in every bite. We also ordered the Hot Honey Crispy Fried Calamari & Shrimp as an appetizer, which was another standout. The hot honey and peppers were the perfect addition to the average calamari that I am used to. While Cafe 2825 is a bit on the pricey side, it's absolutely worth it for a special night out. We arrived at the restaurant for our 7:30 reservation and were promptly greeted by our wait staff. However, no one introduced themselves by name, which we felt would have added a more personal touch to the experience. The restaurant was crowded, dimly lit, certainly has an Italian romance theme. We started with drinks from the specialty menu. My husband ordered the Sicilian Sour, which was perfectly balanced, while I chose the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. It was quite sweet, so for my second drink, I opted for my husband's selection instead. On the recommendation of a friend, we ordered the tableside mozzarella, which was served with thinly sliced prosciutto, roasted peppers, and tomatoes. We also shared the cacio e pepe, prepared tableside--cooked al dente and enhanced by a splash of truffle oil, making it incredibly flavorful. For our entrées, my husband and our friend shared the Chicken Bolognese Fra Diavolo, which was cooked to perfection. I opted for the Veal Rollatini, which was excellent. Since we had quite an appetite, we ended our meal by sharing the chocolate chip cheesecake, which was absolutely delicious. Corey solidified his place as the newest men's supper club member recommending Cafe 2825 and walking us through the proper way to order for the best possible experience. Table side fresh mozz, table side Cacio e pepe, table side Caesar salads will make the entrees seem like a dessert course. Nicest most down to earth people work and own this establishment and absolutely loved the origin story going back to Sheepshead bay. I'm afraid to leave a review because this spot already is so acclaimed. I've been trying to get a reservation for some time and was finally able to get one so here we were. This restaurant is always listed as the best in AC and a top restaurant in the state. I usually worry that places don't live up to the hype. We hear they truly delivered and everything was better than my expectations. If you eat hear you have to do the tableside experience other wise why are you here??? Every dish was fantastic. The tableside mozzarella was a table favorite The Caesars salad was tableside and great. My personal favorite was the Cavatelli. I can't stop raving about it. Was truly the best I have ever had and this is a must get in my book of you go here. Use their parking lot in the middle of the block, not the adjacent one. We "won the dining lottery" by snagging 2 of the 4 seats at the bar. Arrive early to replicate that feat. Immediately struck up a conversation with the other bar diners, and then the couple to follow. Great vibes. Very smooth cocktails and service by (Mr.) Winsome. He offered recommendations and they did not disappoint. Tableside mozzarella with roasted peppers. Tasty. Then we enjoyed the tableside Caesar salad. Loved the old school flair and flavor. THE entree to order, from all accounts, was the chicken parmigiana - said reviewers, our server, and patrons at the bar. The suggestion was right on. It is delicious. Two large and juicy chicken breasts served with Bolognese. We split it and ordered it "not spicy". In the future, I'd add a side of pasta. While we didn't have room for dessert, our nearby bar companions offered us a taste of their carrot cake. Yum. Strawberry shortcake looked beautiful, also. Hell, yes! I'll be back. I heard many stories about Cafe 2825, all were good. So, when thinking about where I wanted to go for a pre-Christmas meal I remembered a few of those stories. That's why I chose this establishment for dinner. I called and made a reservation for Tuesday @ 4. The process was really simple. The woman who answered the phone was very polite and professional. I hung up excited about my plans. We arrived around 4:25 and the door was open. We entered the quaint restaurant and gave our names. We were seated immediately. Our waiter greeted us quickly and took our drink orders. I had the upside down pineapple martini. My partner, opted for soda. We placed an appetizer order for the fried calamari and shrimp. Our entrees were chicken parm and pasta carbonara. The calamari and shrimp appetizer was drizzled with honey a few peppers were added. I'm so sorry I didn't take a picture of the appetizer. I think we were too busy scarfing it down. The calamari and shrimp were nicely seasoned. The peppers added the right amount of flavor to the dish and the honey...my goodness. The honey was sweet, but didn't subtract anything from the calamari and shrimp. I was impressed how the calamari and shrimp were still crispy while covered in honey. Needless to say, we enjoyed our appetizer. Next up, our entrees. My partner is a carnivore at heart. He did not want any pasta. So, when his chicken parm arrived (non-spicy) with a chicken cutlet that was the same size as the plate, I was surprised/shocker. However, he was overjoyed to have the oversized cutlet. I managed to get a few pieces out of him and I can say, the chicken cutlet ranked high my list. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The bolognese sauce and cheese ratio were not overpowering. My partner tried, but could not finish the cutlet. He had maybe 1/3 leftover. That's a good sign. Now, I have to say my carbonara was absolutely PERFECT! The size of my entree allowed me to finish my meal in one sitting, that's rare. What I liked most about my pasta entree were the flavors. I am a sucker for any entree that contains peas, onions, bacon and prosciutto. I don't know why, I just am. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce was light, creamy and delicious. I guess you can conclude that I truly enjoyed my dish (it's the only dish I remembered to photograph). We opted to skip dessert bc we were just too happy + full. Let me start off by saying, this place is amazing. However, I am going to be fully transparent and start with the cons ( you'll notice there are 5 stars so stay for the pros): 1. Reservations are nearly impossible to get if you aren't one of the people in the Cafe 2825 in crowd. If you plan to come here for a birthday or anniversary, you will have to just celebrate it when Cafe 2825 wants you to celebrate it, like at 4 pm on a random Tuesday. 2. The place is SMALL. So if you DO get lucky enough to get in, you're going to feel like you can't have an intimate conversation and you'll be seated right up against people. They are expanding, so this could improve the situations above, so let's talk about what gives Cafe 2825 five stars: Tableside experiences: The tableside burrata and tableside cacio e pepe are phenomenal. If you come here and don't do at least one of these, you are missing out completely and wasted your whole trip. They also have a ton of amazing appetizers, like a meatball egg roll, but we always get the tableside experiences because these are few and far between these days. Unique Entrees The chicken clemente is easily one of the top 5 best chicken dishes I have ever had. I dream about it. It's rare I eat something in a restaurant that I don't feel I could recreate myself easily. I am unsure if I could do this dish justice. It's basically chicken franchaise with a ricotta based béchamel sauce over garlicky spinach and its incredible. They have a dish that combines parmigiana, fra diavolo, and ala vodka all in one and it's my husbands favorite. I wish I could speak on more of the entrees, but since I only get reservations about once a year, I always go with my favorites. Desserts You may THINK you're too full. Do NOT skip on dessert. They have incredible cheesecake that you NEED in your life. If you're a foodie, you MUST make it your lifes work to get in here at least once. read more

The chef/owner/server is so sweet and humble. Prosciutto bread on table was like cake. Italian bread served warm with a super dark olive oil Apps-Meatball Egg Roll -stuffed with chopped meat,peas, onions, mozz cheese with a red sauce Zucchini flowers - egg battered with lemon. Ricotta on the side. Table side prep of pasta in cheese wheel - such a treat. I've never tasted such perfect pasta and the topping of mushrooms was just beyond amazing Entrees - chick parm and a special of angry drunkin stuffed pork chop with a side of port wine apples. Desert - blueberry crumb cheesecake which was probably the best desert I've ever tasted. Most of the entrees were packed to go because we were beyond busting and wanted to have desert. Even the decaf coffee was smooth and delicious The entire dinner was an experience from start to end. The service was impeccable as well as the flavor and texture of every morsel. This place is right out of the Sopranos. Stereotypical Italian American. Way too much testosterone. Everyone is yelling over each other so you can't possibly have a conversation. The fresh mozzarella was decent. The cache e pepe was inedible. Way too much garlic, salt and truffle oil, none of which should even be in cache e pepe. It was so loud and the language at the next table so inappropriate, with "f this" and "f that" I cancelled our entrees, paid the bill and left. I did read reviews that said the service was bad. Superior quality compared to the rest! From the tableside fresh mozzarella paired with your choice of accompaniments such as melt in your mouth prosciutto and roasted red peppers, to the simple fresh ingredients highlighted in the cacio e pepe + truffle cheese pasta- DIVINE.
