End of June on aSaturday night at 5pm, we wandered into Il Verdi for happy hour and were pleasantly surprised. First that they offer it on the weekend, and second that this Italian place had great offerings for this gluten free gal who usually avoids pasta joints. This is a lovely bar, wrapping around two sides and leading from the lobby to the dining area. Our bartender was a mature gentleman who clearly knew his way around a bar. We were pursuing a filled happy hour passport, as the Tropicana has one at every bar and restaurant in the massive casino. He was happy to oblige. Today's deal was $7 aperol spritz and Perini draft. We also ordered a three shrimp cocktail ($3.50 each) and a $10 Antipasti platter. This happy hour was the sleeper hit of our two weeks, I didn't expect such a lovely experience. The shrimp were plump crisp and cold, the cocktail sauce pungent and highly seasoned. But the Antipasti platter was fabulous and we loved every bite of the prosciutto, roasted red peppers, chunks of hard cheese and a lovely fruit compote to smear on toasted baguette. Since we were hopping to another happy hour we didn't stay for dinner. But this lovely restaurant deserves another visit on our next trip to Atlantic City! read more

While at Atlantic City decided to try this restaurant that I saw the reviews. Were positive. Not bad , service was good. our seafood salad was delicious. The bread was good. The drinks were yummy. The veal dish was not that great not to our taste anyway . The sauce was too creamy , and the crabcakes were OK. One of the better restaurants on the boardwalk. read more

Wow! My wife and I didn't know what to expect here, we generally go for the local Italian restaurants vs an upscale place like this and we were taken back by how incredible this place is. The service was fantastic at all levels, better than most steakhouses even. The food was on another level. We tried the stuffed gnocchi, filet mignon and the chicken parm. Would have all of it again but the gnocchi was absolutely fantastic. Oh and don't forget the cacio e pepe risotto!! Wonderful unobstructed ocean views too. The only problem is I live very close to this place and as such will be spending lots more money here, especially when my kids try it. This is my problem not the restaurants for sure. My deepest thanks to the wait and kitchen teams. My wife and I had an amazing night out. Thanks and great work! read more

The food is excellent. The service is outstanding and the ambiance I can't say enough about this place.

My first time dining here even though I'm a regular at the Tropicana. It's seasonal so depending on the time of year, depends on when it's open. The set up is nice and they do have outdoor seating as well. Our server was polite and got our order and food out in just the right amount of time. The rest of the staff wasn't too friendly though it seemed. The food was good and the steaks were cooked perfectly. They are in the casino and unless you walk that way you might miss it. I also suggest reservations especially during the busy season. I'll definitely be back when I can. read more

We had overall great experience at il Verdi. The complimentary bread was fresh and the oil with roasted garlic delicious. We ordered Chicken parm was good but nothing extraordinary. The wood grilled pork chop was fantastic and the filet minion was good. Side dishes nicely priced were a highlight the broccoli rabe, risotto and grilled asparagus well worth with the add on. Dessert the apple crostata fluffy crispy and delicious. All the above along with impeccable professional service made it a great experience and ambiance at il Verdi located inside the Tropicana casino. Can't wait to go back! read more

I don't know where to start, this place is amazing and I HIGHLY Recommend. The staff were amazing. The restaurant it self is amazing, it face the ocean and has beautiful view. The food was out of this world. There was one piece of food left on the table. Everyone clean their plate. Everything tasted fresh. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

We had a very good dining experience at Il Verdi overall. The atmosphere was enjoyable, the food was well prepared, and the service really stood out. Our waiter was excellent, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely made us feel taken care of throughout the meal. The one disappointment was the Blue Crab Bianca entrée. With "lump blue crab" listed first in the description and featured in the name, we expected it to be a prominent component of the dish. Unfortunately, there was very little crab present, and no noticeable lumps, which made it feel out of proportion to how it was presented on the menu. It was still a tasty pasta, but it did not meet expectations for a crab-forward dish. Aside from that, everything else was great and we would absolutely return. We would just choose a different entrée next time. read more

My husband and I were staying at the Borgata for business on a Wednesday evening. Since we have tried every restaurant that was open, we wanted to try something new to us. Il Verdi was recommended to us and since we were also celebrating my birthday we decided to make the short little trek to the Tropicana for dinner. The restaurant is hidden away in a corner of the casino furthest away from the popular Quarter. The ambience is more casual than I expected, but the best part was when our server came over and I realized she was a former student of mine. My husband and I started with the crostini primavera, which consisted of Eggplant Caponata, Tomato Conserva, Peppers alla Nonna, Balsamic Pearl Onions, Whipped Ricotta, and served with toasted Semolina Baguette ( taken from the menu). We immediately had our favorites and used the rest of the complimentary bread from the table to dip into the tomato conserva and whipped ricotta. For my entree I did the veal blanco, which was tender veal served with fontina cheese, asparagus, and jumbo lump crab meat in a lemon butter sauce. I also ordered the fingerling potatoes as a side. My husband did the chicken parm with rigatoni as his side. The marinara was really good and I couldn't stop stealing his rigatoni. We were both full but our server surprised us with dessert for my birthday which was so sweet. It was a chocolate hazelnut mousse cake ( at least that's what it seemed like it was) and we ended up eating it all. Our server was fantastic, and I could tell she wasn't just being attentive because I knew her. She was visiting all of her tables frequently. While I was expected something a little more upscale based on the recommendation we were given, dinner was really good and the ambience was nice and peaceful. I am glad we tried Il Verdi. read more

Stellar service and delicious food. I look forward to coming back whenever we are visiting AC. Celebrated my husband's birthday. I asked for special seating if available. We got a window seat, which was nice because we got to see the ocean. However, we were seated where plates that have been cleared are sorted, near the door leading outside, and the changing of plates was at times distracting. We started with shrimp cocktail. It came with 4 jumbo shrimp. Shrimp were perfectly cooked. We also shared the Caesar salad which came over dressed, in my opinion. However, the main course made up for it. My husband ordered the veal chop which was delicious and it came with. Side of spaghetti which was perfectly Al dente. I ordered the branzino with Verdi sauce as to not overwhelm the delicate flavor of the fish and it was absolutely delicious! I ordered a side of asparagus with it. Best asparagus I've ever had ever. It was charred on the grill and placed on a bed of Dijon mustard and topped with parmiguanni reggiano and a drizzle of evoo. Super yummy! We ended the evening with tiramisu, which was on the house to celebrate my husband's birthday. Brian, our waiter, sang happy birthday with me which was really nice. Brian was by far the best waiter I've ever had the pleasure of being waited on by. In fact, the restaurant is definitely a well oil machine. read more

Let me start by saying that we chose IL Verdi as our elegant dining out during our romantic weekend away. We were greeted with skepticism by the hostess, who could not find our name on the reservation. We had to repeat my name several times. Once they found it, we waited for a short time and were seated at a table right next to the bar, facing the service area. When my Husband asked for a better table, the hostess was quite rude to him. After some negotiating, we finally got a better table. Service was very slow. Several seafood dishes were listed as MP. When we asked about the price, our waiter's response was not very confident. BTW - twin lobster tails were "70 something" & Bronzini (daily whole fish) $48 'he thinks". Update:! When we got the bill, bronzini was $50. LOL Husband got the bronzini, which was prepared perfectly but the romanesco sauce was overwhelming and not a good pair with the fish. His side of asparagus was barely grilled and seemed like it had been sitting on a counter for a while. Being GF, there were limited options in regards to seafood. I ordered the half lobster cocktail, caprese salad and stracciatelli soup. Soup was nice, similar to basic homemade soup with escarole. Could have used a more flavorful parmesan on top as it was a bit bland. Lobster cocktail was basically a claw and half a tail (in the shell!!) I had to send it back to be removed becauae the claw was super thick and impossible to crack. It was served with cocktail sauce, but should have had something lighter. Tomatoes in the caprese salad were not heirloom as mentioned on the menu. Mozzerella and balsamic was good and I liked the addition of the basic microgreens - lots of flavor - which made up for the poorly chosen tomatoes. Wait staff rarely checked up on us and when he did we had to talk quick before he darted off again. Ordered dessert. I got the creme brulee with nutella mousse and husband got the hazelnut chocolate cake. His cake looked and tasted good, but the mousse on my creme brulee was melted. Didn't look anything like the photo at the entrance - just a greyish blob on top of the fruit on the dish. Tasted like your typical creme brulee. Food was just ok. Service and presntation left a lot to be desired. Not a good experience and it will be a while before we return since there are so many better options in AC. read more

WOW! We went during Happy Hour at the bar. The food menu is awesome. We had the crostini, meatball sliders and shrimp cocktail. Just WOW! The four crostini have four different toppings. Pearl onions were involved on one, maybe roasted peppers, a marinara, and an olive tapenade. Sliders, simple and delicious, but it does have a warm pepper on the bottom, so beware of heat. It is easily removed. And the shrimp are per piece priced, but the most perfectly cooked large shrimp I have ever eaten! We reordered everything we had it was so good!Super friendly, knowledgeable staff. They were very accommodating and informative, easy to talk to! Hope to get back on another trip. read more

A reservation was made for my 45 finale dinner. I added to the reservation that I was celebrating my birthday. There was no acknowledgement. I had a red Sangria and fruit di mar. The fruiti di mar was filled with mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari on a bed of spaghetti . I felt there was a bit too much sauce. Wonderful atmosphere, incredible staff and delicious food. Place was peaceful and nicely lit (not too bright, not too dark). Our waiter was always there for us when needed. Everything we ordered was tasty and soft. For starters I had the calamari and it was quite literally the best calamari I have ever had in my life. The calamari itself was great but the sauces they include with it make it 10x better. For my meal I had the Grilled Filet Mignon and it was fantastic. It cut easily, full of flavor, juicy and the mushrooms added a perfect crunch. Overall: 5/5 Food was delicious. Would eat here again. read more

Really great food and great for date night. This was a week or so back so some memories might be a little fuzzy on the drinks. This restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem inside the casino of the Tropicana, there are quite a few restaurants at the beginning of Tropicana entrance up to the casinos but the food there was very good experience. Heading in there are some basic dining decor and tables and a big bar up front, now where you want to sit is in the back area where decor is much nicer, booths that look like cabanas but offer a much more private experience, large butcher table in view with hanging prosciutto and meats, there is also room for large parties here. Could not remember cocktail but had house red wine which seemed well bodied. Appetizers of crab cakes to start. Let me just say my pictures did not do this place justice but if you are there in person, all the food was plated very well, great spot if your yelping or need food content. Crab cakes were delicious, filled with good size lumped crab meat with small salad garnish and a lemon butter sauce. The crudo was excellent, the citrusy salty taste really lifted your appetite and following it with pieces paired with some blood orange gave a new flavor. My date had the shrimp scampi piccata and for myself the flounder, market fish at the time was branzino but I wanted something little meatier even though its fish. In any case, entrees came out picturesque and did not disappoint in flavor. Shrimp were cooked very well and not too chewy, I am not sure how if the cavatelli was made fresh from scratch but could not tell the difference sitting in this wonderful white wine lemon butter sauce, mixed in with some garlic pieces and heirloom tomatoes. The Flounder, was cooked perfectly, it was sweet, almost buttery in fact sitting in that nice lemon butter sauce once again. Now for the negative, my truffle mushroom sides made it way at the end, don't know if it was the waiter or the kitchen but sadly I could not enjoy it with my entree, the fact that I had to hold off and wait with less then half of my entree for the shrooms to arrive sadly took away from the stars. Waiter was very apologetic but this was the circumstance. Definitely check this place out, it was worth the price and the trip if your staying at a different casino or hotel. read more

I have always heard good things about this place and now it's confirmed. Greeted cordially by Liz and she was able to accommodate us despite no reservation. Steven got us initially and attentively set up with ice water and a delicious assortment of breads served with butter and roasted garlic cloves. Ridiculously delicious. Richard was our waiter and more than exceeded our expectations They have a great wine selection and I opted for a Red blend. They do not rush you here as in Steven's words' "You can't rush great Italian food". We split the crispy yet tender calamari which has a nice kick as there are chilies in the batter. . The entrees were out of this world. Filet mignon over tomatoes, peppers and eggplant, cooked to a perfect medium. The veal Saltamboca was amazing with mushrooms, mozzarella and prosciutto served over sautéed spinach. OMG. No room for dessert but they all sounded amazing. Double espressos served with a rock candy swizzle and lemon peel topped off this dining experience. Moderately expensive but who wouldn't want to be treated like royalty for $100 each including a 20% tip. There are reasons why it's been around so long. FYI: they will be moving in the fall to a different tower at Tropicana. read more

Decided to try out IlVerdi during a recent stay at the Trop. It's a great space especially if you can get a table outside with the ocean view. Sorry to say that might be the best thing this restaurant has to offer. Small portions ("Whole" Bronzino was more like two pieces of trout), lack luster flavor and overall slow food delivery. Our server was constantly around however each courser took forever to get to the table. I believe the food is prepared in another restaurant (Chelsea Five??) and brought over but I could be wrong. For the cost, this food should have been great and service should have been quicker. Not the servers fault. Better options to choose from when at the Trop. read more

I'm ngl I had very mid expectations for this casino spot but it honestly blew me away. They just renovation the restaurant and it is STUNNING!!! Views of the ocean and boardwalk through floor to ceiling windows and outdoor seating if you'd prefer. The servers were lovely and very attentive to our table. And of course it wouldn't be a restaurant without the food and drinks and y'all it slapped. The seafood was so so fresh (the oysters and shrimp were my fave) and the pasta was amazing (I liked the bolognese sauce so much). The aperol spritz was phenomenal and they have a fabulous wine selection. Def would recommend checking out this spot for a date night or group dinner with the girls! read more

I wanted to revisit Atlantic City, NJ, so I decided to stop at Il Verdi Restaurant. Upscale eating. Surprised- that the waiter staff was slow to listen to requests for more bread and water? Not impressed by the waiter service at all! Food is good as $40-$50 is pricey for chicken parmesan with no cheese. The ambiance was great. We loved bill our waiter. He took a great family picture. We loved the flounder with crab

I spent a weekend at the Tropicana with my wife & we wanted to try something new. We've been to Tropicana many times & were recommended il Verdi by some family. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I would put this under the "fancy" catigory. For a party of two, the bill wasn't too bad for an upscale resort restaurant either. Starters-Bread was served along with choice of salad. I got Ceasar which was your typical Ceasar salad. For my drink, I ordered the sangria which was also pretty good. Dinner-I went out of my usual menu choices and decided to try something I don't eat much of. I decided to go with Passera Francese. This is a sea food dish featuring local flounder with baby spinach & lemon. I also added crab meat for a small upcharge. The meal was delicious. Conclusion-we did not end up getting desert. We had a concert to attend & the show time was getting close. The service was very friendly & professional. I plan on coming back. read more
