Walking to the restaurant, we walked through a nice looking hotel bar. Once inside the restaurant, it's decorated very nicely with a large glass chandelier in the main dining room. The hostess shows us to our table and the waiter introduces himself. (He's calling me boss? It's a little off) I asked the waiter for a wine list. I don't need to get a bottle of wine, we're on a time limit so we ordered two wines by the glass. I ordered a Italian sangiovese wine, the bartender gave us a proper pour. Great wine to start our meal. My waiter said he's working with a team to serve us tonight. Those guys were all over us! Great customer service, they were constantly at our table. To start, we shared a large portion of Calamari Fritti. The Calamari was delicately fried, it was cooked perfectly. For my main entree I ordered the Scallops with Bucatini. The scallops, again, kudos to the chef. The scallops had a nice sear and were cooked perfectly. The bucatini was tossed in a light sauce which added to the overall dish. Came for my friend's 30 birthday and this place was nicely decorated. Our theme of the night was Heavenly Bodies and we definitely matched the theme of here. The service was well done and the guys had us cracking up. It was rather slow for a Friday night and it attracted more of an older crowd than what we were expecting. This is for the Happy Hour upfront at Cielo Wine Bar which is the bar area at the front of Capriccio Restaurant (which is big.) Great Happy Hour cocktail deals at $8 each . My friend had the Espresso Martini which he really liked and said it was smooth (and it comes In a frosted glass .) He also had the Manhattan which was a serious drink . Very strong. From the bites menu we got the Fries and the Grilled Focaccia, both of which I think were $7 . Get both of these HH bites -they were filling too .They were fantastic. Great flavor on the fries by themselves though I asked for ketchup and the Grilled Focaccia comes with warm marinara sauce to dip in. Light crispy and tasty and we liked this so much we got a 2nd order . I also got the Langosta which is tasty ravioli with a blush sauce and some lobster for $14 ( they give you 3 ravioli .) Get this! Happy Hour plates are a bit smaller but get a couple of them each and it's a light meal ( which it was for us on our first night in Resorts.) This is on the Dining level floor you have to take an elevator to get there . Also we got there a little before 5 on Sunday and there was no problem getting a seat at the bar ( since HH is only in bar area or hightops.) Honestly, the food is good, especially for AC casino fare. As a former restaurant employee, this staff does not care. Apparently the restaurants are unionized, as our server stated, which is great, but she appeared totally disinterested. I've been here a while and sat for extended periods of time in between courses and waiting for the check. This is a gem of a place if the servers gave half a damn. The interior of this restaurant is so fancy and royal! I loved the huge art hanged on the wall, the view of the board walk and water outside the window and the arched windows! So stunning! The food was also very delicious! I love the calamari, it had the perfect crunch and sauce pairing. I understand that in a casino, good meal and good price are mutually exclusive concepts. But, ideally, you'd be able to get one or the other. In this case, unfortunately, I didn't really get either. Per person, the bill was about $80 and that was for a salad, a soda, and a pasta dish. The salad (panzanella) was good. The rigatoni bolognese was so overcooked that if I were without teeth I might've still been able to eat it. In fact, I could've probably taken a spoon and slurped because the sauce was so thin and over sauced that it was practically soup. I hate being an Italian food snob, but for $35 for a basic pasta dish, I think I'm not being unreasonable in expecting it to be much better. If you want to go, great. There seemed to be several regulars around who knew the staff well so people clearly go back. We had an outstanding meal here on Saturday night. Ulysses was a great bartender and Jose and Stephen were great waiters. I do feel their reservation system is a bit flawed, we arrived for our 8:00 and there were 6 groups waiting to be seated (with reservations from as early as 7:30). We waited 30 mins at the bar for a table. Now to the food, we ordered the Octopus and Eggplant Parm appetizers. The Gnocchi pasta, Branzino and the Bolognese. Eggplant Parm was great, a bit small, but crispy and delicious. Octopus was served cold and more of a salad, it was refreshing and it was done right, it was the proper texture octopus should be. The Branzino was SPECTACULAR. Possibly the best I've ever had and the risotto that came with was equally delicious. The skin had a nice crisp and it was deboned prior to coming to the table. Gnocchi Con Fichi with prosciutto and fig in an Alfredo sauce was also absolutely amazing and so tasty, yet rich. The Strozzapreti Bolognese was very disappointing, it tasted like an average meat sauce. It didn't taste like a blend of veal, pork and meat that most are made of. It wasn't bad but when the other dishes were legit 5/5, this was a 3/5 at best. Our table split a Peanut Butter Pie/Cannoli type thing and the two who had it said it was delicious but very rich so we took most of it to go. Once we were day we were brought sliced bread, butter, and a dish of olive oil with garlic cloves for dipping. Pro tip, the garlic cloves are soft and if you put a couple on your slice of bread you can smear them like a garlic confit. For appetizers we ordered, fried calamari, clams casino, and Burrata on toast. Please order the calamari, it was crispy and tender. Plus it included pieces of fried peppers with the calamari. The marinara sauce that came with them was delicious and we asked for more, the first time I've ever done that. Clams casino was also very good though I do wish you received more clams. Flavor wise I was very happy with the dish. Burrata on toast was perhaps not the best appetizer to share as dividing it up amongst four was a little difficult, but it came with massive pieces of tomato and the dish overall was really good. Perhaps next time I would order two and have only two people split one. Entrees we had: the scallops with squid ink orzo, butternut squash, and lemon curd; salmon selvatico in Crosta, which was salmon with phyllo crust, wilted watercress, crispy capers, and topped with herbed yogurt; seafood zuppeta, and the sirloin steak. We ordered sides of mashed potatoes, asparagus, and gnocchi in a vodka sauce. Dessert we ordered the soufflés, I had the chocolate, and others had vanilla. It was a hike to get to the restaurant from the parking lot. But it was all worth it. Buffet was $55 per person and includes beverages (coffee, juices, mimosa, bloody Mary). They have several stations, lots of seafood, raw bar included. They also have an omelette station, brisket and rack of lamb carving station, and a super loaded dessert station. For the amount of food and variety, it was definitely worth the $55. We went for a Sunday brunch at 12:30pm and I was still full for dinner 6hrs later. Horrible experience tonight. Lousy service from the minute we were seated. My wife is allergic to crab. We were never asked about food allergies. She ordered a steak special with mushroom risotto. It comes out with crabmeat. No apologies and my son was nice enough to switch with her. Only to cut into the steak and it was completely brown and dried out. It had to go back to be cooked again. Overall it took almost 2 hours for appetizers and dinner which is excessive given the horrible quality of food and service. We went once during Restaurant Week and then again when they extended Restaurant Week for another week in Atlantic City. Both times were wonderful. The food was delicious with generous portions. This is a restaurant on a grand scale, on the dining level of the Resorts Casino. We took my mother there as a special occasion on an impromptu weekend in November to do AC. Like many aspects of casino design, the atmosphere tries to recreate Italian court paintings, chandeliers, different dining areas in a way that is more casino than European. But it is grand and trying to impress. Frank Sinatra sound track but due to high ceilings, sounds not as clear as one would like. Our main server Jose gave personalized service with a touch of humor, which worked in that restaurant. We stuck with Italian classic fare at reasonable price points: their version of spaghetti and meatballs, eggplant rollatini, linguini with white clam sauce, minestrone soup, clams casino. All very tasty but all clams were a bit tiny in size. We had a side of Kennet Square mushrooms, glasses of the chianti and Chardonnay by the glass.
