    Quiche du jour
    Molly H.

Adorable and delicious, just what you want in a restaurant in Lancaster! It was very homey and we felt well taken care of by our waitress. The food was so good and satisfying. I got the quiche and the bf got the meatloaf. We both loved our dishes and just wish we had gotten dessert! Definitely recommend if you're in the area and don't forget to wander around the village afterwards.

    Quiche... terrible.

Well, this was the worst food I've ever had in a restaurant. I ordered the quiche and this is how it came out: a greasy microwaved mush plopped atop a paper plate (in the corner of said plate... not even centered). I had two bites and couldn't even eat any more. To serve this kind of food to paying customers is the ultimate display of laziness and disrespect.

12/22/2017- We were visiting Kitchen Kettle Village and decided to stop by Kling House for lunch. We were greeted right away and sat in the front room by the grandfather's clock. Our waiter was so friendly and he gave us a few recommendations. To start, we ordered the sweet potato fries with marshmallow dip. For our entrees, we ended up ordering the Kling House Salad and the Quiche of the day (Ham and Cheese) with the chicken dumpling soup. The fries were plenty to share for at least 4 people. They were fresh and the dip was incredible. We asked the waiter to find out from the chef how this was done because we wanted the recipe. SO GOOD!. Our main dishes came out and they were good portions. There are various charming rooms as this was a home once. It is lovely and there are pictures and stories to read all over the house. Overall, delicious food, quaint restaurant/home feel, great service.

Great food and great staff! My fiancé got the meatloaf sandwich which he ate super fast and said it was moist and delicious! I chose the Pat's Picks section where you pay $13.99 and choose from three prechosen soups, drinks, and sandwiches. I got the chicken corn soup, hot tea, and roast turkey sandwich. All of it was so tasty!! The tea came out with about five tea bags to choose from from regular tea to mango and even peppermint tea. Our waiter, Jared, was extremely friendly and kind! Be sure to ask for their specially coffee too. We overheard people near us ask and it was snickerdoodle coffee that my fiancé got to go. He enjoyed it.... Me not so much but I'm also not a coffee drin. The food is so unique and so delicious. I will definitely return on our yearly trio to Lancaster! A year later and still 5 STARS! The Pat's Picks is now $14.99. First, our server, Abby, was such a sweetheart! They bring outside crackers and a spread to start with while you wait for your food. My husband got the meatloaf sandwich again, I got the lunch special of fresh peach and chicken salad, and my step-daughter of course kids chicken nuggets and upgraded ($0.99) to fries instead of the chips it comes with. Food is amazing as always!!!!

Second time here with the KKV fall shopping package. Such a cute little place with super nice staff. Ordered the salted caramel coffee and crab cake Benedict with fries. They are both really good! Had to take back half of the Benedict home though, since it was huge... Highly recommend this place!

Know for their signature dessert(coconut cream pie), their breakfast or lunch menus are full of Lancaster County recipes which feature Kitchen Kettle Village products... We stopped for a quick bite ...very homely and friendly ... I highly recommend the creme brûlée french toast... it was so..so..so good!... don't say I didn't warn you coz after this you will never be able to go back to the plain and mellow French toast that your use to eating ....soft custard pudding texture with fudge caramel like brioche layered in every bite (like the corners of a fudge brownie) ...not too sweet, scrumptious!! Ask to sit on the porch so you can see the Amish horse buggies ride by.

The Kling house was such a pleasure to stop in at. Food was great, service was kind and the outdoor atmosphere was wonderful. Even when it began to sprinkle, they were so quick to ask if we wanted to move inside. Recommend the Reuben and the Cobb salad!

Absolutely amazing food.. I can't wait to come back next year. My fiancé and I do this trip this time every year and we are so happy we came here. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Jared was a great waiter. Updated a year later... Just like I said almost a year ago, couldn't wait to come back, and here we are... Abby is a very attentive and friendly waitress. My daughter ordered chicken fingers and fries, my wife ordered the fresh peach and chicken salad and I ordered the meatloaf sandwich. Yet again the service and food is amazing. And can't wait to come back again with my family.

Kling house is a lovely house transformed into a restaurant. It is one of the restaurant situated and uses the ingredients from Kitchen kettle village in Lancaster county. The lunch menu is simple with few selections that made it uncomplicated. We started with Pretzel and mustard as appetizer to share. I chose pork chop for my main entrée. It is a locally sourced center cut pork chop marinated and grilled to perfection, with its own juice and topped with caramelized apples and onions. Served with vegetables and mashed potatoes. It would have been nice to pair it with a glass of Chardonnay. Unfortunately, the Amish do not serve alcoholic drinks. But the meal was scrumptious altogether. The ambiance is calm and homey. The customer service is impeccable. Our waiter is very attentive but not obtrusive. It was indeed a great Amish country lunch experience. All the ingredients are fresh. I will come back and recommend this place to friends and family.

We really enjoyed everything we ate! To start out the complimentary appetizer of crackers and cream cheese and red pepper jelly was absolutely delicious. Pur waitress even gave us the recipe because we were asking to buy some to take home. My entire family liked their meals....chicken salad sandwich, ultimate grilled cheese, flatbread pizza and BLT. All was very flavorful and a nice change from what we have been eating on our vacation. My only complaint was that it took longer to get our food than we thought it would take. The little room we were sat in was full so maybe that us why. It was neat to actually eat in what was a home at one time. Se really enjoyed reading the story of the restaurant. It was nice to have the manager check on us about our food. On a side note, after I posted the pictures, the manager came back to our table and asked if I just posted pictures on YELP and thanked me. He then gave me two small jars of jam.

My family and I were visiting Kitchen Kettle Village and ate here for lunch before our buggy ride. I would rate Kling House Restaurant 3.5 stars if I could, but rounded up to 4 for the quaint ambiance and nice waiter. The story behind the former farmhouse makes the eating experience special and cozy. The service was a teensy bit slow, but our waiter was busy and very nice and accommodating. I ordered the chicken corn soup and vegetarian sandwich under the soup and salad lunch special. I thought the soup was too salty but the ingredients seemed fresh. I really enjoyed my vegetarian sandwich; i wish I lived nearby just so can I order it again. Our table ordered the peach crumb and lemon skillet cake, which was the dessert special that day. I don't have anything special to say about the peach crumb, but the lemon cake was made to order and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream from Lapp's Valley Farms. Yum!!!

The Kling House Restaurant is a nice place for a good full service lunch at the Kitchen Kettle. Weather permitting there is amble outdoor seating & the servers are always friendly & attentive. I highly recommend the homemade meatloaf sandwich. It's delicious!

Mostly it's where we stayed (shoutout to Airbnb), but also it was the fun and different experiences/places we visited around the Intercourse/Lancaster area like Stoltzfus Meats. This store doubles as a place to eat at as well as a spot to get plenty of (I bet you can guess) meats to cook up in the privacy of your own home. Normally, a place like Stoltzfus might have been somewhere we may not have even ventured into, but wanting to spend as much time in that aforementioned Airbnb, we saw the great Yelp score of this spot and what it offered in the way of food to cook, and so Stoltzfus was visited with a meaty mission in hand. What does Stoltzfus offer (beyond just saying meat)? Well they really do have a massive selection of different types of steak, pork, chicken, and even some non-meat meals (pizzas, mac and cheese, etc.). Some items come frozen which would have worked well for us had we been staying longer than a couple of days, but we decided to hit up the counter and get some fresh uncooked items that we could make for dinner (and breakfast). Once being helped (which was quick as there were many people working) the staff member was friendly (albeit we had a little confusion about the amount of sausage types we could buy) and we were able to purchase a few different flavored-sausages, some macaroni salad, and some breakfast sausages to make the next morning. After grabbing these we looked at some of the prepackaged meats and found some marinated chicken strips to get as well. Once back at the Airbnb, we cooked everything up and the meats definitely were tender and flavorful. The macaroni salad was also pretty solid. Though nothing blew me away, the meal we made was great for the price we spent. Best item was probably the breakfast sausages we had the next morning. They were a maple apple flavor and dang were they delicious. Overall, Stoltzfus Meats did the trick for our little Airbnb getaway. Perhaps not a place we would have ventured to if not staying in a location that warranted some potential cooking, I am still glad we got to experience Stoltzfus and would definitely return if we did end up back in that part of the Pennsylvania state with the need to make a meal. Even if I physically don't come back, I know my mind will at least continue to return here!

Note: breakfast doesn't include pies, but for less than $5 you get a slice of pie to go that is really 2 slices worth. The only reason I wouldn't get a whole pie, is because I would eat the WHOLE pie. I would love to post a picture of said pie, but I ate it. (I'll try to update with some pics the next time we go!)

We fortunately were in Lancaster at the beginning of Spring, so the crowds were not as big as most other weekends. But you can tell the Dienner's is a huge tourist center. With all of the normal continental breakfast options (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, breakfast potatoes, and more) with the local Amish food favorites too (scrapple, mush, pork puddings), you will easily fill a plate to eat! They offer eggs other ways, if you order them to the table. They also have an entire buffet of dessert options with cinnamon rolls, donuts, and pecan twists. The tables are adorned with horse and buggy sugar holders and placemats with the Lord's Prayer! Most of the employees are Amish or grew up Amish which makes for great conversations, if you care to talk about them. For me writing Amish so many times in the review, you wouldn't expect such a modern setting. Fresh laminate flooring, bright painted walls, and contemporary decor throughout. For how busy they were, the server was very attentive and very accommodating as we were yapping away and constantly not ready with our orders so kuddos for the team and putting up with us! I love the mystery beer concept, its not great beer, but being from DC at like $2 a can, I am not passing that up, ever. And a cheap beer with a burger is the perfect combo! On to the burger... I have heard that this is a great burger... and I have to conclude that I agree though it is reminiscent of a Big Mac - just way better ingredients - it has to be the sauce they put on it... Anyway, nice size patty, good amount of toppings and a quality bun (not too soft, not too thick, bread soaks up some of the juices but doesn't fall apart). The mussels were quite excellent as well. It was a Thai curry broth the night we were there and it was drinkable, like soup... we did ask for extra bread... enough said. I am going to take a minute too and praise their spirit free cocktails. THIS IS HOW THEY SHOULD BE MADE. They used bitters, tonics, etc to craft something that tasted like a cocktail but without alcohol which means they were not sickly sugary concoctions, but expertly crafted beverages. Just really great options. All that said though, their espresso martini was one of the worst I have had. Just skip that.

It's a gigantic restaurant with several adjacent stores and lots of branded items. But the attraction of course is the smorgasbord. Yes, that's essentially a buffet if you're reading this from one of my home towns on the west coast or Southwest. The place is huge and you'd think it might be slow to get or confusing but it's extremely well run. Question #2 -What can I get you to drink? She then rattled off all kinds of soft drinks. We asked for a raspberry tea and an unsweetened tea. She kept our glasses full throughout our lunch. I was surprised to see a charge of $3.99 per drink added to our bill. Now I don't consider myself cheap. BUT, please say "would you care to order some beverages? Since this is your first time drinks are not included" The food was possibly a step above a college cafeteria. When i asked one of the food attendants "where's the beef"? he replied only on weekends. If you like pork and ham you're in good hands- they had what looked like a compressed turkey breast as well. The potato soup was very good and the fried chicken acceptable. It is located on East Main Street in downtown Strasburg. The inside consists of a large main room with an L shaped bar, a number of TVs, and then a second dining room off to the side. Since no one was seated in the second room and we had twin four year olds with us, we chose that space. Unfortunately the TV in that room was broken, so we were not able to watch the Steelers game that was on. Aside from that, the room itself had a cozy and slightly eclectic feel. There was a decorated Christmas tree lit up in the corner near the staircase which gave the space a warm seasonal vibe. The walls were decorated with brewery signs and beer themed banners, and a bright yellow decorative mantel stood out against the darker wall colors. Overall it felt casual and welcoming and worked well for a family dinner. For dinner on this evening I went with the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak while my wife chose the K Town Mac Bowl. The menu described my wife's dish as three cheese cavatappi pasta with smoked pork slaw, Korean BBQ drizzle, sesame seeds, and scallions. My sandwich was described as smoked chicken, American cheese, buffalo sauce, gorgonzola, onion frizzles, ranch drizzle, and a hoagie roll. I thought my sandwich ended up being good, especially since it was chock full of chicken. The hoagie roll was toasted and buttered nicely and added a good crunch, which the onion frizzles helped reinforce. The gorgonzola added a nice pungent pop of flavor. While I did get some buffalo flavor, I definitely could have used more. Because of that, the sandwich was a little on the drier side despite having cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch drizzle. My fries were seasoned and had a nice texture, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Spring House Brewing, a flight consists of four beers and I chose the Cucumber Salamander, Backroads Shadows, Daily Planet, and Love and Rockets. The Love and Rockets ended up getting mixed up and I was instead served Grease the Poles. I started with the Cucumber Salamander, which is a sour. It was a bit tart right from the start and that carried through to the finish, with a little extra pucker at the end. Up next was Backroads Shadows, a lager with a crisp, clean start before the malts came through on the finish. This felt like a really good easy drinking beer. Third was Daily Planet, an IPA that had citrus up front followed by a solid hop presence that carried through the finish. Last was Grease the Poles, a pale lager that started off very clean before finishing with some lighter hop notes. Out of the bunch, the Cucumber Salamander was definitely my favorite. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Our food and drinks were good, and I would be interested in trying more of their beers.
