This is a step up from your standard Lancaster buffet line. They offer the standard Amish food options like Chicken Pot Pie, Shoofly pie, creamed dry corn and plenty of fresh vegetables. What you'll also find is a nice line up of drinks including wine, beer and cocktails. You won't find that at many of the Lancaster Amish buffet lines! The offers aren't as extensive as some of the other buffets. But it feels a little higher end. It's also pricier. But our family really enjoyed the experience. I don't understand the comparisons between Miller's Smorgasbord and Shady Maple. After trying both, they are not really competitors in my opinion. We only stopped here because Shady Maple was closed on Sunday while we were passing through on a road trip. The biggest disappointment was the carving station. The three meats available all looked overcooked and dry, and they were not something I would go back for. The fried chicken was the one standout item and was actually quite good. The bread pudding was also a pleasant surprise and probably the best dessert we tried. We also waited about 45 minutes for a table, which was frustrating, especially compared to Shady Maple where the process is much faster and there is no wait. At around $40 per person after tax and tip, I just don't think the experience matched the price. I heard about this place from a Coworker years ago. Since we were visiting in the area we stopped by for Lunch. It is your traditional Buffet fare, with a variety of soups, salad, vegetable, meats and dessert bar. I was pleased with my food, it was tasty. Our Server was welcoming and checked on us often. This place has been around since 1929 and used to be a Gas Station until turning into a Buffet. Great variety, I definitely preferred this buffet over Shady maples...their quality is much better but you can tell that things have sat out for longer than wanted. Definitely recommend trying the ham balls though. Staff is very friendly and if you sit by the back windows the view is nice. Well, I was hoping for a better experience. I was contemplating giving a one but opted for a 2 as I'm sure it can be a lot better unfortunately, I experienced the not so good. The price honestly is way too high for what you get. It was $41 with a drink for lunch, not typically what I'll spend and in this case way overpriced. I did like the carving station with the ham. The peel and eat shrimp was good and the fried chicken was good, but not warm and very limited on selection of the pieces. The sides were OK maybe they just weren't my thing. We had heard good things about this restaurant with many saying it was better than the more popular one. We did enjoy the food but we definitely liked the other better. The restaurant is very big and there was so much food to pick from! I enjoyed everything i tried but the two problems I had were the drinks do not come with your meal but instead are a separate charge. The other was the fact that it seemed very crowded around the food area and hard to pass others. If i had to pick between the two id go to the other because it felt much less crowded. This was my first time visiting and until now I've been going to the more popular one in Lancaster. However, after this visit, I would say Miller's is better! While the selection may be slightly limited, the quality makes up for it. They also offer just the right number of selection for my personal liking. The service was great, we got seated right away and our waitress was awesome! She was attentive and prompt throughout our entire meal. Millers is a great spot for families and individuals. They do accept reservations which I think is unique ! Food wise, you really can't go wrong! My favorite pair was the fried chicken, roast beef and broccoli salad!!! We stopped by Miller's Smorgasbord for Sunday brunch, and it quickly became a new favorite for our group of four. This all-you-can-eat Amish and American buffet really delivers. From brown buttered noodles to the carved roast beef and perfectly crispy fried chicken, everything we tried was fresh, hot, and delicious. Service was just as impressive as the food. Our plates were cleared promptly and drinks were always refreshed without having to ask. Compared to other local Amish buffets like Shady Maple, Miller's felt calmer, more organized, and overall a better dining experience. Of the over 3 dozen items to choose from on the buffet line, we had our favorites. The fried chicken was crunchy and seasoned just right, the roast beef was tender and carved to order, and we loved the tangy broccoli slaw. Don't skip the desserts either, ie. homemade pies, cakes and cookies. I think this place is really good. I probably could've just gone for just the unlimited soup and salad. The ham and bean soup was delicious and the seafood bisque was tasty too with a nice sherry flavor. Salad bar had everything I wanted and the hot bacon dressing was a nice touch. Service was great, plates were cleared and glasses of ice water were always full. Fave hot dishes were the spicy peach chicken, the spiced shrimp, fish, burgundy beef and shrooms and the ham meatballs. We tried the dessert but honestly we were so stuffed I couldn't really enjoy it too much. Only things I didn't care for were the roast beef (tough) and the scalloped cabbage was too saucy. What can I add after almost 800 reviews? Well... Unpopular take #1: There are plenty of healthy options here No one talks about it but there is a legitimate salad bar. Lots of greens, vegetables, healthy stuff. And it's fresh. If you don't want to feel completely fat from eating here, start with a salad. Unpopular take #2: The best things on the buffet aren't the things people talk about Such as: - Homemade turkey salad - Potato stuffing (mashed potatoes that taste like stuffing...?) - Raisin bread-pudding (using the day old homemade raisin bread, super buttery and sugary) Unpopular angle #3: It's not always super busy I ate at 11:30am on a Wednesday, right when they opened. Probably 20 other people in the entire huge place. No wait and no lines at the buffet. If you have control over your schedule, just make your own life easy and go when it's not busy. This was run like a well oiled machine. Folks had their roles and performed them well. The food options were plentiful. We both enjoyed multiple items. Hubs was a fan of the shrimp, fried chicken, & French fries. I enjoyed the salad bar, broccoli salad, ham, & roast beef. On the dessert front the pecan chocolate pie was very good. In honor of Pi Day, 3.14 today, I was challenged my favorite Pie place. Favorite Pizza pie, I could do all day long, but Pie as in apple, pecan, pumpkin, etc., it's not really a normal thing I eat. However, I've been to Miller's Smorgasbord 3 times with my parents, twice for Thanksgiving & the first time was in March 2022 and again in October 2022. My parents live in Lancaster, and this is their favorite Smorgasbord. March 2022 & October 2022: My parents had the winter season coupon for BOGO that was expiring soon and happened to be up visiting. Wow, this place is awesome! It's a massive buffet with various hearty Amish types of foods from mashed potatoes (which are outstanding here), raisin bread (another specialty), other various sides & meats, as well as dessert. Also, gotta give a shoutout to the awesome fried chicken. We revisited for my mom's birthday in October as you get a free meal on your birthday. They are closed on Sunday; so if your birthday is on a Sunday, you can go the day before or after. Thanksgiving 2023 & 2024: They have a great Thanksgiving spread; all the traditional Thanksgiving items, their famous mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, etc., but also their other items like the raisin bread, and prime rib is added to the mix. There's a ton of food. There's also always the desserts (Thanksgiving & other times), which deserve their own paragraph. It's a big bar of various Pies...apple, pecan, & even Shoefly pie, a delicious Amish favorite of mine. But for traditional Thanksgiving, pecan is my favorite. Their Pies & other desserts are excellent. You can get your Pie, with a person that scoops ice cream on it making it A la mode (the fancy French way of saying stick some ice cream on that sucker!). Other General comments: The place is huge, but it's still a madhouse especially at Thanksgiving. Even in March 2022, I came hungry as we wanted to go for dinner, but they were full. Reservations are recommended. So, we ended up going to the weaker Cracker Barrel relatively close. And you might have a reservation, and it could be another 30 minutes at Thanksgiving. But the staff is nice, servers are friendly, get refills in a timely manner. There are a lot of areas for seating on the 360 degree buffet area, that's a huge circumference, radius, & diameter around this circle (again in honor of Pi Day). read more

I am a fan of Miller's. They live up to their slogan; real. Good. Food. The staff is friendly from the reception to the servers. When you first arrive, you check in with the front. Make sure your whole party is present because they have a time limit that starts as soon as you go in to enjoy the buffet. The food is excellent all around for buffet. Clean, fresh, and delicious. I do love my ayce fried chicken! The place has an old school vintage feeling but it's clean. I personally think Miller's is better than shady maple but; that is of course, a personal opinion. When I was a kid there was famous tourist stop on the way to Tahoe from the Bay Area called the Nut Tree. It was basically a restaurant with a huge gift shop, a toy store and restaurant that was so popular you'd have to wait an hour to get in. As a kid I loved it and I've develped a fondness for these touristy restaurants. Not tourist traps because those are usually overpriced and not good. The place is huge and you'd think it might be slow to get or confusing but it's[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] extremely well run. There are multiple stations such as Salads, Local Favorites, Appetizers and the ubiquitous carving station. I'd say stay away from the carving station; the roast beef was dried and a little tough. But everything else was great and very fresh. Some highlights included brown butter noodles, chicken pot pie (sortof a dumpling) Cabbage bake and ham balls. All the regional PA specialties are really delicious. The pickled eggs, pickled beats and spicy gardinera were yummy too. A gooey oatmeal pie was a delightful and delicious desert, but there were dozens of deserts to choose from as well. The wait staff were friendly and super efficient. The food did not look appetizing, the fruit had no taste, the water tasted like chlorine after taste, I have a stomach ache after drinking that, and the silver ware and cups had a weird residue stuck to it as if they were very dirty and not cleaned properly.There was no flavor in the food and the lemonade tasted like the water was from tap water. read more

The ambiance is very nice... 3 stars because as my nephew was eating this Waitress SASHA came over to tell us to leave because she needed the table for a party of 7 The 4 of us were SHOCKED! She said you get an hour and a half to eat so she stands there staring at my nephew as he's eating his dinner mind you he hadn't gotten to dessert yet. I told her we are here just an hour... Imagine spending about $200 and this SASHA tells us to leave... she upset my sister and ruined a reputation for this restaurant. They need to give her a lesson on courtesy and politeness... She never apologized only walked away say " fine I will just figure it out like I always do" Thank goodness Derek came back and apologized and said that is not their policy. What a pleasant experience! Came here with a party of 5 I highly recommended reservations. I can't say that there was anything I didn't enjoy, everything was scrumptious. Even with the restaurant closing at 8pm the buffet was filled with fresh hot food. Our waitress did an awesome job as soon as you were finished the dirty plate was gone. We didn't want to leave Lancaster, PA without trying Amish fried chicken and desserts from Dienner's Country Restaurant. It was recommended to us. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed on Labor Day :( Luckily, we found Miller's Smorgasbord on the same road as Dienner's. Miller's restaurant has been in business since 1929. The buffet has a variety of food options such as seafood, roast beef, fried chicken, oven roasted Turkey, soups, salads and desserts for $28.99. Our favorite was the fried shrimp, roast Turkey, fried chicken, Mac and cheese and crispy French fries. Reservations are recommended. Our wait time was only 30 minutes. They are charging $31.99 per person plus if you want a non-alcoholic beverage $3.99 on top of $31.99. This place has really gone downhill in my opinion. I have been coming here since 1977 and through the years my wife and I have been coming to Lancaster probably about 4 to 5 times a year. We even visited when kids came along and now the past 15 years we belong to the American Music Theatre so we come to about 8 shows a year. We didn't only go to Millers but they are in top 3 restaurant. It just feels like prices and new ways to charge has gone up. Just disappointing. I'm aware of other restaurants have raised prices. I went here with my family for the first time in probably 10 years. We came on a Sunday because many other places are closed. I was very impressed by the quality of the food. The carving station was fantastic; the turkey was so juicy and tender, and my sister said the prime rib was the best she's had in a long time. The service was also excellent. Very clean buffet. Sometimes I get grossed out by a buffet when food is spilled everywhere. Miller's they kept clean. They offered full buffet, or soup and salad for two different price points. Then unlimited soda, tea, coffee and juice for another cost. I did not get pics but my favorite part of the buffet was the homemade soups. The soup I tried was a cheeseburger potato. Unique option that tasted really good. I believe they offered six to eight soups. At the carving station turkey, roast beef, and ham were offered. Sadly another place in Lancaster that has lost all its original charm. Surprised to see construction in lobby and a tacky looking bar being built in place of the country store. They state they are open until 8pm and will gladly seat you and take your money, but by 7:30pm they are breaking everything down. Food was not at all what it used to be, beef was dry, sides were watery, and stuffing was an undercooked soggy mess. Most workers didn't even want to help you, not like years ago.
