Came in for breakfast on a Thursday morning. There were only a few other diners in the restaurant and my server had me seated within seconds. The staff were friendly with me and also with the regulars, chatting about family and friends, etc. I ordered the special for the day which was two eggs, home fries, a grilled muffin, and bacon. It came with an orange juice, as well. I chose the cranberry orange muffin and I'm not lying when I say it was amazing. Grilling the muffin added a little more texture and the warmth was A+. The bacon was perfectly crispy. The eggs and home fries were as expected. They had several types of hot sauce to choose from, which I appreciated. The restaurant itself is much larger than it looks from the outside. They have a variety of seating options available and tons of interesting vintage decor. They have two single bathrooms. The women's was small, but clean.

We almost drove right by, but so glad we stopped in. The BBQ out back was smelling amazing and the brisket was on point! Its a very clean and nicely decorated place with great ambiance. We will definitly be back to try their chocolate cake. Also ordered their thanksgiving dinner for pickup.

Old School kind of place. Very nice staff and good food. You'll feel right at home and probably go back again and again.

Really solid food. Freshly reopened seems to be trying to find their feet but quality food & good prices.

The BBQ Barn - Opened Whoopie Pie - a little messy but good

On our way back from a trip to NC and up to MA, we decided to stop in Lancaster for some lunch and…read moreshopping. My husband and I looked for the best BBQ places in the area and landed on The BBQ Barn. A small and cute little barn sits in the corner of the plaza (on the right of Target). We ordered chicken and rib dinners with an extra pulled pork sandwich (we ordered way too much but needed to try it all!!). Dinner plates come with Cole slaw, a dinner roll, potatoes, and a whoopie pie. There is seating outside. We both agreed that the chicken may have been the best we have ever had. It was seasoned so well and perfectly cooked. The ribs came with bbq sauce on the side. There was a line, but service was quick and efficient. The grills are right in front and you can see the cooking happening! Inside the barn, I could see them rolling out fresh pretzels. They also had homemade root beer, which was very good! After we finished eating, I couldn't help but grab a vanilla ice cream cone to share with my dogs. They agree too, best soft serve ice cream we have ever had. Since getting home, we have already talked about how we need to plan a trip back to Lancaster to get more BBQ and explore the area a bit longer.

Drive to the Target just west of the American Music Theatre and head to the far east side of the Target, driving back around the side of the building and the restaurant will be on your right. Watch for small signs directing you to the BBQ Barn. Review: Very good pulled pork sandwiches with lots of meat for a very reasonable price. Full meal is a great deal that includes three small grilled red potatoes, a small coleslaw, roll, whoopie pie, and drink for $12.50-$14.00 depending on your meat and beverage choice. They sell "homemade" root beer that I tried and it was good and tasted like the original drove in A&W root beer except it lacked carbonation. We had a sandwich plus one full meal for about $20 and left a small tip. Note that this is a casual place with outdoor seating only, similar to a food truck. Thankfully the picnic table seating is mostly in the shade. I do recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner and noticed local Amish eating there while we had lunch. today.

My friend who lives in Coatesville wanted me to try this place. I'm visiting from California…read more I got the 5 piece chicken wing plate. I had a choice of two hot sides. Out of mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, peas & carrots, green beans & ham, baked beans, I chose mashed potatoes and baked beans. The wings were delicious and tender. The skin had a pop to it. Very simple seasoning but good. I had a choice of spicy or sweet barbecue sauce and I got the sweet. It was just right. Not too sweet but flavorful. The mashed potatoes tasted so creamy. The baked beans were like cowboy beans. A variety of beans, bacon and ground beef. Flavored just right, sweet and tangy. You also get a soda with your meal. I also wanted to try the fried corn nuggets and onion rings. The onion rings were a little too soft for me. It had a really nice coating that stuck to the onion though. The fried corn nuggets were sweet and crunchy. If you like sweet tamale this is it in nugget form and fried. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I had a lot of dumb questions and kept picking items that were not choices on my plate. The cashier would correct me. She wasn't curt and wasn't overly accommodating. She would just repeat what my options are. They have a nice road sign but you have to be looking for it. The restaurant is up a flight of stairs but they do have a ramp too. When you walk in there are about 6 tables. The counter has T-shirts, macrame and a few home decor items. Go past the dining area, to the left is the bakery and to the right is the barbecue. I love all the nice notes and positive signs.
