With most diners you either get the food right or wrong and it's mostly about the service and atmosphere. Stopped in early on Valentine's Day weekend for a quick breakfast before the late morning crowds. The waiter was very friendly and welcoming, topping off my coffee periodically. The ambiance is a solid 50s diner experience, with the regulars congregating on the opposite side of the restaurant. The food tasted as good as the presentation! It's a pretty good diner. Had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes to get seated. The most popular item is probably the hubcap pancake. It's a massive pancake that you can get and comes with butter and powdered sugar. One of our sides was a bit burnt. I got the cheesesteak that comes with chips and a pickle flavors are fine. They didn't really pack a lot of meat into it. We also got the chicken fingers and fries. Chicken fingers were great. The fries were mediocre. Also got a Mickey Mouse pancake, which is cute. Basically a pancake with two ears. Very good deal for the kids meal and came with sausage or bacon. read more

Disappointing experience. As soon as we walked into Diner an employee sneezed into her hands a couple times, then handed us silverware and menus. Handwashing is important! I ordered Chicken Pot Pie special, which was not available. I ordered Turkey Dinner with mashed potatoes... first bite had bone in the meat. I was not able to finish after that. Waitress did remove meal from bill. My husband had Chicken Fried steak which he said was good. He ordered a Sweet Tea which he never received. Neither of us were offered refills of water. We always make it a point to eat at diners or family owned restaurants instead of chains to promote small businesses. When you are pulling up, it does look like a small hole in the way diner. There are no issues with parking plenty of spaces. However, inside is small! This is an establishment my parents always wanted to try when they adventure to the lancaster area, and we decided it was time, and man, i am so glad we did!!! Nothing that we ordered was bad. The worst thing was my chicken tenders were fried a little too long but still tasted good. My dad ordered the ham loaf, which is served with a side of pineapple glaze it was very good. I ordered the chicken fingers with sweet potato fries and their homemade soup. Wow, that soup was absolutely amazing!!! 10 out of 10! My mom got the chicken salad club sammie, and wow, was it good! You don't come to diners for atmosphere and Route 30Diner isn't an exception. Still, it was very clean. Route 30 Diner was a great choice. I avoided it for the tin exterior for many years but I was glad I gave it a chance and I gladly eat my own faulty assumption. My cuban panini was delish ( recommend 1000 island over mustard), the service was perfect (fast and friendly) and the price was very fair given the quality. Great old-school pre-fab diner experience. Walking in, the decor reminds me of many old tin front diners. We were seated with no wait, even though the restaurant was very busy. The food was top tier, and cooked just right. The Hubcap Pancake was exactly that. As big as a hubcap, and super thick. My other half had the chicken corn chowder, which was a home run in flavor and texture. The service was spot on, not ignoring us, nor was our server intrusive. Staying in Lancaster for about 2 days and had to come here. I ordered the hot meatloaf sandwich and mashed and gravy. My gf ordered the patty melt with fries and a sweet tea. All told ran us $32. Service from Daniel was perfect he was nice to us and very personable with his other customers some of whom seemed regulars. My sandwich was huge with 2 big slices of meatloaf between white bread and slathered with gravy. The Gf added mushrooms to her patty melt and she loved it. Would eat here again. To start off; remember this is a diner. Room/space is limited and it can be loud and crowded. THE INSIDE A+ So, my family and I came for breakfast around 8am. There's plenty of parking, and honestly it didn't look busy. When we walked in it was fairly crowded. There was quite a few spots at the counter, but only a couple of booths open. Fortunately, we were able to get one of the booths. It's also worth mentioning, and this was probably one of my favorite things. The inside was full of pictures honoring military members from every branch. I thought that was so cool to see. That alone gives it an A+ so great job for that. SERVICE A+ The young man who waited on us was very friendly and quick with getting our orders. Constantly checking on us making sure we were good. You could tell he had been doing this for awhile. After placing our food order we waited maybe 15 minutes or so. Everyone came out hot and exactly as we ordered it. FOOD A+ You truly get your bang for buck in this place. The menu item I ordered had two eggs, three slices of bacon, two sausage links, and a waffle. Everything was cooked perfectly. Also, the amount of food I received for the price. It was incredible. I was so full by the time I finished. That goes for my entire family as well. I won't go through everything they received, but it all looked good and they enjoyed it very much! I find it very hard to believe anyone could leave this place still hungry. By the way, I happened to be nosey and look across to the booth next to us and see some that someone had ordered some of those hubcap pancakes. WOW! They were massive! I'd say they were the biggest pancakes I've ever seen being served in a restaurant. PRICE A+ Now, I can't remember exactly everything we all ordered, but it was five of us(adults). When I got the bill.. well let me just say that there is no where around where I live that five of us can go out for breakfast and it be as cheap as this place was for us. I actually enjoyed paying for it. It felt like the old days of going out. The price is something no one should ever complain about. If you do well I promise you there is much much worse out there. I'd appreciate this place while we have it. Overall A+ Advice, if you want breakfast I'd get there early. It was close to 9am by the time we left and it was getting very busy. They don't have a ton of seating, so keep that in mind. If there's more than five people in your party it might be tough for you all to sit together. They had to put a chair on the outside of the booth for our fifth person so keep that in mind, also. read more

Unremarkable but pleasant diner. Familiar and comforting diner interior which is never a bad thing, but also makes for a small seating area which leads to possible long waits. I got a simple pancake combo breakfast which was the right price ($7!) for a huge pancake, sausage, and scrambled egg plate. The place itself very tiny and has an equally tiny waiting area for the longish wait (25 mins on a Sunday) but the staff was friendly, particularly the very short hostess/waitress (she did both of the jobs) for us. My daughter ordered the mickey mouse pancakes with sprinkles & sausage, and loved it! I had probably the tastiest breakfast burrito i've ever had at a diner. This waitress was hustling and despite the chaos of the place she was constantly smiling... even asked my daughter if she'd like the butter on the side of her pancakes because she know how 4 year olds could be. ;) Coffee was typical diner coffee-- not the tastiest but hot & did the trick. A very solid 1950s style diner. It's been a bit since we have been in the area and the service was very friendly. Coffee was nice, strong and hot. The portions for the western omelette were huge and great for the price. Grits served with a white American cheese. Worth the stop. read more

This diner is easily becoming one of my top two in the area. I'm a jersey girl, IYKYK the bar is high. Portions are plentiful, menu is full of options and if you want to customize they do so with a smile and they get it right. It's old school and small inside but they turn over tables quickly so a wait is never too long. Coffee is hot and good, I drink iced tea which is also brewed right here. You can't go wrong. Insanely delicious French (made with French bread) toast! I can't believe that Alex, our awesome server, shared with me that they did a "wash" of eggs, sugar, and . . . orange juice! Route 30 diner is an eatery one could easily miss. It is small, covered in chrome and appears frozen in time. I think this is a spot where locals go: Photos of military local heroes on the perimeter. The inside appears original. Chrome. Original lights. (A bit dim). Tables and a bar with stools! Prices are more than I would expect from a diner, but the food was also more than I expected. I got the alpine omelette. Big portion. Good flavors. Home fries were crispy as requested. The Ruben was pretty big with well done tots. Each was about $10. Service was excellent. Was in the area on vacation and my kids LOVE Waffle House, but they were not allowing sit down dining so we needed a place to eat and as long as I have been coming to the area Ive wanted to stop in here but never have, so I made an executive decision and pulled right in. CASH ONLY!!! - But there is an ATM (its super slow, but there is one in the back) The place is small (each booth size, there is ample seating for lots of people - but the booths are small and Mom wasnt too comfy and was super squished - the only booth with chairs was taken so we just dealt) Our server (Alex - My son is Alex also and he thought it was super cool that our server had the same name) WAS SOOOO NICE and accommodating and friendly!
