Amish fried chicken, shoofly pie

This place ia full of so many goodies. The fried chicken was so good. They said you gotta try it and their shoofly pie when you are in Lancaster!!!

We stopped for what was supposed to be a light lunch in the cafe called Amos' Place connected to Stolfus Meats. They have indoor and outdoor seating, some under a gazebo. I had a half sandwich of ham salad on homemade white bread and a cup of ham and bean soup. Both were delicious and more than filling. My spouse had a broasted chicken thigh and a small cup of macaroni salad. Again, it's delicious. They have Pepsi products at the self-serve fountain And white Birch beer, which is common around here. If you don't know what that is, it's has somewhat of a root beer flavor. You really can't go wrong with the food they're cooking up for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I don't know how anyone could leave Stolfaus Meats without bringing home some goodies either.

Great place for lunch & to shop for fresh meats & salads. It can be pretty busy at lunch during tourist season, but still worth the trip.

I ordered a turkey breast from Stoltzfus Meats (Website) because I was hoping to avoid the additives that are in other frozen turkey products in the grocery store. Their website says this is an all natural turkey. See my photos. Butterball's whole turkey tenderloin ingredients are: whole turkey tenderloin, water, contains 2% or less of salt, sugar, natural flavors (including vinegar). Stoltzfus' boneless turkey breast roast ingredients are: Turkey, up to 28% marinade of salt, sodium phosphate, hydrolyzed corn protein, onion powder, dextrose, natural spice extractives (including celery seed). I thought I was purchasing a better product straight from the farm- guess not!! I am extremely disappointed and will not purchase another item from them! Their advertising is misleading and false. I have emailed the company- and received a response that states it's claims on their website are true. Yet their ingredient list states: 100% brined boneless turkey breast. They do not list other ingredients. They questioned my concern about their ingredients but offered no remedy for taking my $85. Beware!! They do not think their customers should know things like dextrose, hydrolyzed corn protein (used in cosmetics), and sodium phosphate are in their meats. Do your research people!

Yesterday was my third time earning lunch here. We go to Lancaster a few times a year. First two times I got the Philly Cheesesteak and loved it. This time I didn't. Roll was only half filled with meat, which was over cooked. Hardly any cheese at all and only got about 12 fries. Felt ripped off. And they raised the price of 8" cheesesteak from $9.99 to $10.99. So they raise the price and give you less I should have complained but we took our friends there and told them how great it was. Next time I will.

We had a tasty lunch here. Our sandwiches were spectacular! The turkey on the pretzel roll and the Ruben... both really good. The corn soup was just ok...the corn was wonderfully sweet though. The max and cheese was tasty! It's counter service but they had decent indoor and outdoor seating. It's right in the store so you can shop while you wait!

Galvinell Meat - old world Italian

TLDR: Galvinell Meat in Havre de Grace lives up to the hype. Massive, beautifully built hoagies,…read morefriendly staff, and a butcher counter full of unique house made offerings. Easily in the conversation for best hoagies in Maryland. This butcher has been on my short list for a while thanks to its recent fame in the Hoagie Gurus Facebook group, where their Old World Italian has become something of a legend. After finally making the trip, I can confidently say it deserves every bit of that buzz. We stopped in on a Saturday around lunchtime and the place had a steady flow of customers. My wife and I ordered the Old World Italian hoagie along with a hot roast beef and gravy grinder that was running as a special. While we waited, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and we took some time to browse their butcher case. Everything looked fantastic, and we ended up leaving with several packs of house made sausages that were too interesting to pass up, including a chicken crab cake sausage and a brisket cheddar. After a short wait, our subs were ready and they were both absolute units. Since they have a few two tops for the lunch crowd, we did not even make it to the car before digging in. The Old World Italian was exactly what I hoped for. Piled high with Italian meats and cheeses, sharp provolone, roasted red peppers, and prosciutto, all served on a sturdy yet soft seeded roll. The meats were perfectly layered so every bite was balanced and flavorful. No dead spots, no overwhelming salt bombs, just a beautifully constructed hoagie. The hot roast beef grinder was equally impressive. Freshly shaved beef, rich gravy, and melted provolone came together in a way that felt indulgent without being heavy. Comfort food done right. Between the quality of the sandwiches, the welcoming staff, and the incredible butcher offerings, Galvinell Meat is a destination. It is absolutely worth the drive and firmly belongs in any serious Maryland hoagie conversation.

They have fresh meats including some frozen options for those not necessarily purchasing for the day of. We opted for the Italian sub and the hot roast beef and we did plan to eat this later but for the best chance tried it when we got it and both were delicious!! We also purchased some frozen options of various sausages and fresh sausages. I also highly recommend their crisp Apple ice tea! They do also offer some tables so if you choose to eat there you can! The staff were also super friendly! Would visit again!
