We have tried a little bit of everything over the years from appetizers to curries and haven't met a dish we didn't like. Love that you can select your spice level. Pad Thai was very sour. .. and of all of the many flavors that's supposed to hit with Boat noodles, all I gathered was salt and water. When in Frederick, there aren't that many options for Thai food. If you find one that's better than this, let me know. Still, I should say this place is cute and has friendly helpful staff, and the food is fresh and tasty. I really couldn't ask for anything more! If you ask for special instructions on your food like requesting vegan or gluten free, they have you covered here. I really like that they have choices here that are tofu or vegetables, most places you order one: tofu + vegetables. It's really nice that they let you choose, because while I like tofu, usually I'd rather have more veggies and less tofu. They have a vegan appetizer that has vegan mayo, which is pretty cool as far as Thai restaurant standards (tofu tempura). With that said, expect lots of classic dishes here like pad Thai and pad see ew and spicy basil and fried rice with your choice of vegetables or tofu or chicken or shrimp, etc. When I asked, they told me any of the classic dishes can be gluten free. That's nice. For lunch, they specifically offer vegan pot stickers as part of your appetizer that accompanies your main dish. Very nice touch! My favorite dish at any Thai restaurant is if they have papaya salad or Som Tum. Theirs did not disappoint. I was very happy with the lovely presentation in a wooden dish piled high and overflowing with the beautiful julienned green papaya, and plenty of spicy heat to complement the lime fresh flavors and the snappy roasted peanuts. The rest of the food is satisfying. I like they have the choice of brown rice and sticky rice to accompany your dish - pay extra, but worth it. I like all rice, but I have a soft spot for sticky rice (unsweetened or sweetened). I like to order it with my Som Tum and sometimes with my dishes, like Spicy Basil vegetables. The vegetable mix is as expected with some broccoli, carrots, green beans, bell peppers and baby corn. The food is saltier than I would make for myself, but I didn't feel it was so salty that I was thirsting for water after every bite. If I didn't have rice, I probably wouldn't have just eaten the vegetable dishes plain. The sauces for the dishes are not thickened, so be careful when you're eating rice with it, as it ends up getting harder to eat a meaningful bite of rice if you add the rice and sauce together. I like my food to have spicy heat to it, but I don't like it to be so hot that I'm sweating. The food here can easily be ordered to the point of sweating, so don't go for spicy spicy if you can't handle it! Alternatively, add more rice and cold water, and you'll be fine. All in all, portions are fair, prices are appropriate, flavor is good, veggies are fresh, choices are plentiful and the modern decor and nice knowledgeable staff round out the experience. Our family enjoys this local Frederick Thai restaurant. The food is always delicious and fresh. From 3:00-6:30pm during the week is Happy Hour and appetizers are $5. We ordered calamari and satay chicken. Then for our main dishes we ordered the herbal chicken, pad pakk, the kimchee fried rice which has beef and shrimp and is super spicy, and the shrimp pad Thai. The portions are large and we usually share as family. I do not have any bad reviews of this local gem. Currently since the pandemic, Kittiwat is doing limited indoor dining and outdoor seating. They also have a frequent diner club/app. They use your phone number and you earn rewards. They also throw in free items based on how much you spend. Our last order, we got a free order of potstickers. We haven't been there since before COVID and went for takeout this past weekend. Even though they were slammed (dining room full), lots of take out orders, they were super friendly on the phone and in person, took my call promptly, had everything ready when I got there and the food was hot and delicious! I didn't realize how much I missed this place. We'll definitely be putting them in the rotation again, even if it is a 30 minute drive. We had crispy spring rolls, crab rangoons, papaya salad, shrimp pad thai and beef fried thai rice. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend if you're looking for awesome Thai. Environment: Modern looking place with a small bar area. It was a little bit cramped, but other than that, no complaints. Food: I got a cashew pad Thai with chicken. The peppers, onions, and chicken mixed with their sauce made for a very tasty combination. Hint of spiciness, but definitely manageable. We also ordered some wings for the table. I think it was supposed to have a little bit of kick too, but it was pretty mild. Still had great taste and texture, though. Price: Fair prices for the portions. Definitely on the lower budget in terms of dinner. Service: This is where the 4/5 comes in instead of the 5/5. When we were seated, we had to wait a bit to get our plates and water. His facial expressions, attitude, way of replying back, way of addressing the customer was disgusting. But after multiple occasions of forgetting to make our food (literally), not answering the phone before closing time, and seeing multiple hairs in our food on multiple occasions, we feel pretty done with this place. They've compensated our meals for when we've found those hairs in them but when something like that continues to happen, you really start to wonder the level of cleanliness. We went into dine-in at this restaurant on 13May2024 at 8.17 PM. The dining hours outside the hotel clearly mentioned that the last seating time in the restaurant is 8.30 (will attach the photo to the review). We were told by both the restaurant staff that they cannot seat anyone after 8.15 PM. I think I found my new Thai place for Thai food. I usually go to the one closer to my place in Gaithersburg because they are authentic, but after trying it a few times, it is a bit on the sweeter side. This place takes another spin of Thai cuisine which is much more robust and grounded in terms of taste. Matched with their modern decor and plentiful parking, I walked out full and happy. We had the sampler platter, pad Thai, Fried rice, the beef noodle, and some other dish for the whole family and it was all delicious. Every admitted that the beef noodle was really good. The fried foods were a bit heavy, but still lighter than other places, but the sauce and taste were on point. The plating made the place definitely worthy of being in the 21st century. Some were plain and simple. Others, were picture worthy. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here and do want to try it again. This time, I want to try their curries. read more

Stopped by here after a camping trip in Cunningham falls! Delicious food and fantastic service. I especially love how you can control the sweetness level of their Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffees. Also the ice cubes were made of either the tea or coffee (respectively), ensuring that your drink isn't watered down at all. Loved the attention to detail. Kittiwat Thai Kitchen seems to be the most hipster-looking eatery in the Frederick area, and while I give them kudos for the aesthetics, I can't say I'm a fan. The menu is pretty extensive, offering various appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, lunch specials, side options, and a kids menu. We ordered the Pad Thai (with rice noodles, egg, scallions, radish, bean sprouts, and peanuts; you can request your dish to be more 'wet,' if you like it more saucy; this dish was a little sweeter than the usual, and the noodles were overcooked) and the Pad Kee Mao (with flat rice noodles, tomatoes, basil, bell peppers, peppercorn, and onions with chili paste; definitely Thai spicy! The flavor seemed to be there, but the flat noodles were so gummy from being overcooked). Chicken was the protein we opted for, and it was way too dry (even for me) and stringy. I got to give it to them - they do serve up some large portions, and while I do enjoy Thai leftovers, these dishes were tossed. We tried the potstickers as part of the lunch special, and we just weren't fans of the filling nor the drizzled sauce on top. Maybe it was because it was a vegetarian dumpling and it contained some type of soy protein? We tried their popular Thai iced tea set, which I was actually excited for - the tea ice cubes were a nice touch so it wouldn't dilute/water down your tea; however, the tea itself was not steeped long enough and was super weak - the ice cubes seemed to have more flavor. They do a nice job here. Hubs got the Thai fried rice with chicken, no spice, and I got the basil fried rice with seafood, 3 stars spicy, and I ordered the Thai iced tea. Spice level was on point. Food was a bit pricey (my fried rice was $23) yet tasty, service was fast and friendly, and even on a fairly busy night, they left us lots of catch up time with a friend we were having a mini reunion with. This is a baller place. They instantly get five stars for the way the Thai iced tea is presented and for using ice cubes which were made using the tea (so it doesn't get diluted). Ordered five things: Pineapple fried rice with chicken, Pad Thai with beef, Lychee duck, something with shrimp (good heat), and the mango with rice. [Coronavirus review] I ordered on Chownow; this place has its own website and numerous delivery app partners, but the reason I chose as I did is that Chownow's interface had clear checkboxes for making items vegan where the others did not, and the restaurant's own site did not allow me to order at all for some reason. Something to consider for all restaurants as they navigate this new era of online business. My takeout was waiting in a bag on a table for me to pick up without touching anything or going near anyone, and I got a brief acknowledgement, which came with a pang of regret. I've never been one to strike up long conversations at the bar, but the food business has become more impersonal due to social distancing. I would be happy to come back and sit down for a real meal at some unspecified future date. Their willingness to make most items vegan is an important feature of Thai cuisine, which in its authentic form is so heavily infused with hidden seafood ingredients. They also have a nice menu in general; I rarely see roti in the U.S., but their flatbread was flaky and indulgent, and the curry sauce it came with was delicious. Ordering a curry as an appetizer allowed me to get nice variety by ordering a spicy basil stir fry. I asked for maximum spiciness, but received only a mild warmth; it was disappointing on that level and if I'd been at the restaurant still I would have asked for more chili. The rice also had an off-colored bit like some sauce or something had gotten into it before is was in the container. However, I did manage to wolf down my salty, garlicky dinner quite quickly despite any complaints, so I'm not inclined to be too harsh.
