I rarely post reviews, but this company is exceptional. Too bad I can't give zero stars. When we moved into a rental two years ago, it took them two months to start service because they couldn't find the address (which they had been servicing for years) in their system. Now we've moved out, and they continue billing us for metered service at that address, despite our giving them three weeks advance notice of the move. To date, there have been three phone calls, two emails, and two messages via their web site to try and get this resolved. Call and you'll talk to a friendly, seemingly helpful person, but nothing gets resolved. Glad to be done with them! read more

I've been with Kitsap propane for over ten years. It was fantastic when it was locally owned. Since the new company took over service has been terrible. I've been on autofill for the past two years. Since switching to autofill, Kitsap Propane has completely dropped the ball! They haven't been filling the tank as needed, resulting in us running out of propane twice now, last winter and this winter. I've been without heat or hot water since Friday evening. when I called them on their 24/7 "Emergency " line they said that did not constitute as an emergency and I'd have to wait till Monday when they opened for regular business hours. they haven't taken any responsibility for being negligent and upholding their end of the contract. They have offered no compensation for the extreme inconvenience of their incompetence. it's absolutely ridiculous and appalling that they treat customers like this. We were referred to this company by a neighbor as we don't have a regular propane provider. We had somewhat of an emergency situation with our propane tank becoming dislodged from pad from rain. Fire Department and neighbor said call them. We called and were told they would not help us as we weren't a customer. Who ever heard of a company refusing to provide service? They also left voicemail later claiming they could set us up in system and then service and help. When we returned that call the person said no we won't set you up as a customer. We were newcomers to rural Kitsap County 17 years ago who'd never had to rely on Propane before - we'd always had urban gas on the grid. We'v been here for 16 years now, and never had a problem with Kitsap Propane or billing until last year, 2023, when it changed. The customer service now is terrible with Kitsap Propane, their billing system is weird and unprofessional, so we're in the process of looking for a better propane supply company that's easier to deal with. read more

Please read the negative reviews. They are spot on. Also this company is no longer local, they are owned by a company in Chicago. Ever since Larry and Leah sold out to them the customer service has been bad. It doesn't matter what time of year you order propane, it will always take 3-4 weeks for a delivery plus numerous calls to an answering service before you will get a delivery. Our last order was placed on Dec 10th and we got the delivery on January 10th, after we had run out of propane. The only good thing I can say is that we were on the pre buy program and they did refund our remaining balance so now we have moved on to a much more reliable and locally owned company. We have been a customer for the last five years. And have been using an automatic refill service they provide. However they missed the last appointment and now our tank is completely empty. With temperatures in the mid 20s our pipes are a risk to freeze and burst. We have absolutely no heat in our house. This company has been unresponsive and unreliable after promising to get back to us. I would rather remove every rock one by one from every Kingston beach over their business. Terrible customer service! They do not fill their auto fill customers, as a result, I have run out of propane. To make matters worse, their employee BRANDON refused to relight the pilot lights even though it clearly states they offer this service! Buyer beware, I now need to have my appliances relit at my expense, when they are obligated to do this service. I'm now stuck with a 1,500 dollar propane bill and a freezing home. read more

I wanted to warn other people not to waste your precious time and money on this business. But I can see that many other people already beat me to the punch here, given their current rating. The service defies logic, especially when leasing a tank from them. They charge $1.50 or more above market rates for propane when you lease the tank, a very tidy profit. What would you expect to get for that premium? Excellent customer service and for their auto-refill program to run smoothly at least, right? No. Instead, you get a bunch of rude and incompetent run-arounds. I have to call and beg them to refill my tanks. We've run out of gas twice. Supposedly there is more propane use because of "the pandemic." But that's odd since it was the same crappy service before there was any pandemic. The drivers complain and and whine when they come here and have to do their job and drag the hose to the tank. Why don't you take that tidy mark-up and get your house in order, hire some competent management and motivated employees. Have been with this company for 6 years. Never had a problem until this weekend. We've always paid our bills in time too. We didn't get a bill from them for the rent of the tank until 2 weeks ago and it says past due. So I pay it. It's in process and they disconnected our valve. On a Friday. When they won't come back over the weekend after we explain that the bank is sending the payment. So, yeah, we will be looking for another propane company. read more

WORST COMPANY! Here's the LIST as to why I make that statement: Driver delivered our propane to a neighbor's house who doesn't even have propane service through them and both neighbor's address and mine are clearly marked in multiple locations on our properties. Neighbor went out to tell the delivery driver that he was delivering to the wrong house and directed him to our house (one driveway down). Instead of leaving said neighbor's house and coming to deliver at my house, the driver LEFT without delivering, but told the company he DID deliver to our home. We found this out when our neighbor told us of the incident and we called the company to ask when we would be getting our delivery, and the company told us the driver indicated he had delivered to our house that day. Total lie and clearly we knew it because our propane gauge was still at empty. Company offers zero apology for their driver trying to stick us with a payment for his actions. Moving on to this companies ridiculously confusing billing practices, and the fact that even the people working in the office of this company don't know what the heck they are doing or how to even read their own bills. My husband and I have a "pre-buy" account...which apparently doesn't mean jack. We are newer customers and had never used our pre-buy account before. Husband calls to get a propane delivery in late October and indicated he wanted to use the pre-buy account to pay for it; at no time did the person he spoke to, indicate that he wouldn't be able to use the pre-buy account to pay for purchased propane before NOV 1. Moving ahead to today (Dec 18) when we receive a call from the propane company, who is telling us that we have a 60 day past due balance of $348. My husband speaks to the lady and tells her that the ONLY reason he purchased propane in late October, was because he was assured it would be paid for from the pre-buy account. My husband goes round and round and round with the office worker (one of the two office ladies he has had to have multiple calls with in the past) who couldn't even explain their own billing statement. This doesn't even include the 5+ phone calls we have had to have with this company since beginning to use this company 1 year ago. Every single time we have to deal with this company, it's an absolute nightmare. The office worker today told us that none of the employees are on the same page, and that if my husband had spoken to HER for the Oct propane request, that he would have gotten the correct answer. WHAT EVEN?! Husband asked "So how can the confusing billing and lack of communication be corrected within the company? The woman literally told him "it can't be, because the invoice reflects the correct info, it's just too confusing to be read". Unacceptable! This company is horrible and we will be changing ASAP. read more

The customer service at Kitsap Propane is really poor - from the consistently poor attitude of the "customer service" rep who answers the phone, to the disorganized billing and accounts component of their half-baked website, it's clear this company is not in business for the long haul - they don't appear to be interested in providing quality customer service. Example: I phoned to report a suspected leak on my leased tank. The phone rep's hostile response: "you don't order enough propane to even keep the tank you're leasing".......providing yet further evidence that Kitsap Propane cares NOT about the safety of the product or customer, but about their bottom line. We are building a new home, and this was the ONLY company that didn't attempt to "upsell" us. I'm not sure what the others are talking about, Deanna was warm, friendly, returned my calls immediately and was extremely helpful. Kitsap Propane was able to get us on their schedule quickly as well. Interesting reviews from others, can't imagine staying with a company for 10 years, and then "all of a sudden" having to prepay with a credit card.????..something sounds fishy about that. I have been a customer for 15 years and to my surprise last Friday we received our fill up, 3.049 per gallon, with summer season normally prices go down, so I called a competitor 2.295 per gallon or .75 cents per gallon higher. We own our tank also. Since they were acquired several years ago their service and pricing has declined. Needless to say we are discontinuing service. They made a large deposit of diesel from their truck onto our asphalt. read more

Wow, I canceled service to a vacant home after many years of service, yet they showed up and managed to fill an already full tank two more times in the following months. I only found out when they sent a bill. I called and discussed this with the owner who didn't care that I cancelled service and claimed the space available in the tank was due to pilot lights burning 20 gallons over a couple months. Only problem is that there are no pilot lights!!! I called her again after getting yet another bill not only to not have my call returned, but immediately sent to collections. I called her back again and she said it was out of her control and hung up on me. I feel strongly that I was fraudulently billed and I would encourage anyone to stay away, especially if this is how she treats her long standing customers. read more

We have been with Kitsap Propane for over 10 years. Never had a problem until recently when they came out on the coldest day of the year and disconnected our tank with no warning after I had been making payments on a bill I had with them. After being in the cold I decided to call around and check out different companies. Kitsap propane charged me $2.89 a gallon when other companies were charging $1.49. Needless to say going wth another company is saving me hundreds of dollars since my entire house runs on propane. Kitsap Propane disconnecting my tank was a blessing in disguise. read more

Think about it. This company only gets 1 star reviews. That should tell you something. I moved over to them about 10 years ago when I read a story about a local group setting up a locally owned propane company. They offered good prices and good service. This was early days. The last 4 years have been a nightmare for something (3-4 propane fills per year) that should be no more than a few hours of effort annually. Unfortunately now they are an arrogant company with terrible customer service. For me it started when they let my tank go empty in the middle of the winter when I used propane for heat. This was required for pre-buy. All I got from them was an "oops". Okay, that's fine, people make mistakes. After that I said, put me on will-call because I didn't trust them. Then they kept filling my tank whenever it they wanted to (it seemed like during the higher cost part of the year). I asked them repeatedly calling and email to stay on will-call. After 5 times they finally got the message. Again, this is just a propane seller. I need propane, I should be able to call and they should deliver it. Nope. It's never that easy. So fine, I kept with them because like most people didn't want to deal with a tank swap. So I called them again in August of 2018 for a simple tank fill. I had to call them 5 days in a row to get this done as my tank was almost empty. They said they came out but couldn't find the tank, etc. Then the office people (with their arrogance and incompetence) pretend like it's not big deal for me to waste my time. Luckily I had sent in pre-buy money, but cancelled it with my credit card company. Best choice ever. I immediately called a new company and after 2 simple calls got a new tank, filled at a lower price ($0.80/gallon). At this point, Kitsap Propane, instead of accepting their poor service was the cause of me leaving, decided to be difficult. They said none of my tank fees would be refunded and that my remnant pre-buy balance from the previous year would be held until THEY decided to pick my tank up. Simple solution (for all current customers struggling with this company). They were sold to Energy Distribution Partners (EDP) in Chicago Illinois. You can find them on the internet. I called their customer service number, emailed their COO and emailed them. I was connected with the West Coast Regional manager who was extremely understanding, patient and kind (something I haven't gotten from Kitsap Propane in many, many years). He ensure my tank would be pulled ASAP and it was. Thanks so much to him. Hopefully he can reconcile what used to be a good local business. In summary. High prices. Poor service. Unhappy workers who seem to change every time. Arrogant (and incompetent local management). Good corporate customer service. read more

Be careful of these cheats. I gave Kitsap Propane a pre-buy of over $700 dollars. They did not use all of it on my pre-buy for 2017 and of course, rolled over the credit for 2018. I figured I would pre-buy again for 2018, when my tank was filled recently and I was charged more than my pre-buy arrangement, I asked them about it. I was told that the pre-buy is only good from August to the end of April? WHAT? So, now I'm charged more and they have my credit (which they most certainly have been receiving interest on) and they tell me my pre-buy is not good for this time. DO NOT go here. I'm warning everyone I know to drop Kitsap Propane. They are horrible cheats. I called them and they are nice people, but dishonest. I should have looked more closely at these cheats ... or an honest company would have warned me that the pre-buy was only until the end of April. Stay away. read more

Kitsap Propane was bought out in April this year. I Have been with them for 11 years, and was told this year they were not offering the "Pre Buy" any more. Prices have skyrocketed since they were bought out by a company from Chicago. They also purchased Jefferson Propane and Mason County. Not good! read more

I have been a customer with Kitsap Propane going back to March of 2010 - so, quite a good long while. I signed up with them because I wanted to keep my dollars with a local company. Over the years they have become more and more of a problematic organization with regards to customer service. Now that they have been bought out by Amerigas (but fooled their customers by keeping the old name as if they were still a local company) they have become downright abusive to their customers; particularly with respect to pricing. I just switched to Cenex today. They charged me $2.12 per gallon for a 250 gallon leased tank. Kitsap Propane today is charging $2.94 for the same amount of propane in a 250 gallon leased tank. By switching to a better company I just saved myself $205 dollars. Sorry Amerigas, but ripoff capitalism is no way to do business. I encourage all present Kitsap Propane customers to abandon ship on this abusive company. read more

Go to another provider! We became Kitsap Propane customers with the purchase of a house in Port Townsend last year; the prior owner had been a customer. Previously, we had been with another provider in town. In November, we reported the smell of gas coming from the propane tank we paid to lease from Kitsap. The helpful technician came out and determined it was a faulty valve leaking. He repaired it - it was their tank - and told us to contact Kitsap for a refund of leaked propane. We have called and talked to people, we have left messages, we have emailed. It is now April. Clearly, they are not going to address this. Seems silly, for a few dollars they would have kept us as customers and I would not be writing this. They have chosen to completely ignore us so we moved to another provider. Another thing to keep in mind when choosing a provider is that Kitsap does not service any appliances; other providers service all the appliances that utilize their propane. read more

WORST PROPANE COMPANY EVER!!!!!! I have had propane tanks for at least 15 years and NEVER encountered such blatant incompetence. Not only did they lie about their lease charges, but they made up charges, and don't account for payments correctly. Nor, will they listen to you when you detail everything out. I would be happy to go in and explain how to account for customer receivables as its pretty darn basic. But they seem to have troubles doing anything. I fired them over a month ago, told them their tank was sitting in my driveway and to come get it. Its still here! I even had some kid driving around from Kitsap Propane notice it and he seemed genuinely embarrassed it was still there! That was two weeks ago, I just called again, and was told they would pick it up "At their earliest convenience!" After this long, their earliest convenience is ridiculous! My advise.... Go use Cenex (it took them less time to drop a new tank, fill it, and put Kitsap's where it would be easy to pick up) then its taken Kitsap to finally have some kind of a note!. I switched to this company because it was a family business and have been treated good for 2 years, but after last 2 weeks waiting for propane they finally told they could come tomorrow I asked price and after all the waiting they jack up the price .80 a gallon.
