This company is why you should buy your own tank. Just got screwed over with a "bait and switch" sale. Quote me one price for gas and then it gets delivered and costs over a dollar more-per gallon. When I called CHS Propane, I did not have much hope of getting a propane delivery any time soon. Because of the power outage on Bainbridge, we had to use propane to power my husband's oxygen concentrator. Our two propane tanks were not full, but we thought there was plenty for one or two days without electric service. As the hours progressed, we began to worry about the tanks running dry. My husband has IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis), which is a progressive disease affecting the lungs. He needs oxygen 24/7 and is not very mobile. If the condenser stopped producing, we were down to using cylinders and we did not have many left. One cylinder or e-tank lasts about 2 hours. We would have to leave our home, take the concentrator with us and find some place to stay. I called our previous oxygen supplier but was told it would be some time next week before we could get a refill. If we were younger this would not have been as stressful, but for an 81-year-old, it was very difficult to figure out what we would do. We also have two small dogs, so along with the concentrator, the dogs and all my husband's meds, plus his stringent diet, (because of the meds), it was a big problem, it seemed like we had a mountain to climb. I reached Austin, at CHS, and told him my problem. He put me on hold and made a call, then told me he could get me a delivery the next morning. I was so relieved. I drove out to Cenex in Poulsbo and the people there were also super nice as I filled out a form for the delivery. Austin would have sent it to me via email but our internet service was also down. They said we were on the schedule, and not to worry. Last night our electric service was restored, a very happy moment, but the tanks were very low, so this morning, first thing, the CHS Propane truck showed up and filled the tanks. The young man driving The truck was so efficient and filled our tanks, but refused to take a check, I figured they would send us a bill. This afternoon, Austin called and told me that they would not take any payment for this delivery due to the stress and worry we had endured. I tried to tell him that we were happy to pay and were so relieved to get the delivery and not have to move to a motel (which I had already booked), that we wanted to pay them for their service. Well not going well. Used to be great service in our 2 years with CHS NW propane. Not now! Phone service down now 4 days...finally got a callback yesterday that they are working on getting us propane fillup. We are now down to 25% dropped 2 or 3 points in 2 days so we are barely using our heatfill up. To save propane.. At this point we will be down to 20% by the end of the week. Service could not be worse! We dumped Amerigas 2 years ago for the same problem. Here we go again. Look elsewhere before you sign up with this company. read more

I've come here for 20 yrs. Good for farm supplies. Propane has become a low priority for them. I've put up with it the last couple years but today I waited 30 minutes for propane only to be told by fellow whose been walking by that he's closing for an hour for lunch. Offered to fill 2 (of) 5 tanks and 2 for people waiting behind me. Best "I can do. " My farm doesn't run on 2 tanks. There are two great guys who do propane there but I'm tired of rolling the dice. The Poulsbo Cenex used to be a great business. Been going there since the very early 80's. The manager and employees were always friendly and helpful. Those days are gone. I find the current manager extremely rude and indifferent. Simply getting propane there is an exercise in patience. Terrible service. Will definitely avoid doing business there if at all possible. read more

I have been getting my propane from CHS since buying my home 10 years ago, paying $65 a year to lease their tank and paying a surcharge on my propane to cover tank maintenance. In ten years, all that they have done is fill my tank. Otherwise, they haven't touched it. At the suggestion of a neighbor, I began looking into buying my own tank. I called CHS Northwest to see if they would sell me one. Although promised a callback from "Larry," I never received a call. Mentioned that to a neighbor who says he has waited three weeks to hear from Larry. With no word from Larry, I had a new tank delivered yesterday by Maritime propane and filled for much less that CHS Northwest charges. According to my calculations, I will recover my costs in about five years. More importantly, I can have my tank filled by whoever I choose, allowing shop for the lowest fuel cost.. My old tank is sitting in my driveway waiting to be picked up. I hope they aren't sending Larry. read more

Great little farm style store (hardware, grain, chicks, straw & pet feed) close by to grab supplies and such. They have gasoline (not sure how it works since no one ever seems to be at the command station), propane (they will also deliver after you set up an account with them) and kerosene which is handy. Friendly folks. Just wish they were open on Sunday. read more

I've never had any issues with Cenex, in fact they are always much easier to deal with than the "County Named" propane company. Prices are always competitive (and no gouging in the winter) and delivery is a breeze. I've never had an issues in the store buying supplies or propane. read more

I've never been treated as rudely in a farm store as I was here. Don't know if the woman was terribly insecure or if this is her nature, but after that experience, I'll never set foot in there again. Will gladly drive to Silverdale to be treated with simple human decency and politeness. read more

The propane delivery might have low prices, but they have even lower service. After giving us a 5 day "window" they never showed up. When I called to ask when they might be coming, a woman named Kris said they are not supposed to tell customers that information. Worst propane delivery company I have ever encountered. read more

They have allowed the building and lot to decay into a public hazard, and after you are injured they say you have to stop trespassing. The manager will not give a straight answer to anything. They claim to be "open carry friendly" but they call the cops if you do. Honestly just a run down shell of it's former glory, pretty sad day when Wally's is higher recommended than our neighborhood store. I am waiting on a call from CHS corporate but the manager is probably lying about that too. Avoid the hassle, shop online. read more

Watch out for fees. Starting to act like the cable company, phone company, and banks in billing practices. Service was fine until you have to negotiate one of those fees. No one except the owner has any authority so there is no point in talking to anyone but him. And lets just say he isn't very customer facing. read more

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. Management is horrible and they refer to their employees as low life's who can't find better jobs. This place is unprofessional and their knowledge about farming is ridiculous. And having 3 different names? Talk about confusing and none of the employees know what to call the company. We have been using this company for a couple years. I must say that each encounter with them has been a pleasant one. My experience today was outstaning. Today I really made things difficult for Alesia when I called and ordered a propane refill for my home tank. My gauge read zero. I tried unsuccessfully to reach someone using the "propane" option in the phone system so after calling the retail side of the store, Alesia kindly answered. She cheerfully took my order but explained that I might not be able to get a delivery til Monday. Going the extra mile however, she said she would attempt to reach the driver and see if he might be able to deliver today. I thanked her for the thoughtfulness but quickly hung up without giving her my current phone number. Alesia not only contacted the driver right away but the driver, Kevin, took a chance and drove to the house without being able to call me. Kevin arrived promptly and was extremely courteous considering the delay I caused in his day and the uncertainty he experienced not knowing whether I was home or not. I very much appreciate the extra effort by both Alesia and Kevin to refill my tank today. I realize my good fortune may not have been possible at another time but I do appreciate the service I received and the attempts to deliver a high level of quality service. Thanks very much.
