Do you miss the days when you could walk into a hardware store and talk to someone who'd was familiar with DIY work, or was an expert on the product they were selling? Do you find yourself frustrated at the lowest common denominator of customer service at Lowes or The Home Depot? If so, Clearview True Value Hardware transports you back to a time when a hardware store was more about expertise, know-how, and assisting in getting the job done, and less about a giant store with 200 selections of light bulbs, levels and lumber that nobody on staff can differentiate. Merchandise Quality/Selection: It's amazing what can be packed into a well organized store, and Clearview True Value Hardware is a perfect example of that. There's plenty of hardware, shop tools, garden tools, large tools (axes/shovels/sledges), ladders, fuel, locks, paint/stain, and gloves/masks. I've demoed an entire 2500 square foot house and landscaped it with items out of this store. I'm not entirely sure I couldn't have rebuilt it with items purchased here as well. I can tell you that those tools did some heavy lifting and have continued to hold up. We're talking snow shovels, clippers, axes, prybars, sledgehammers, mallets, the whole nine yards. On top of the usual hardware store items, there are three things that make Clearview True Value a little unique--fantastic propane prices, readily available hay/feed/grain, and BBQ/grill set-up assembly service. Many people from Lake Stevens out to Mill Creek and Woodinville make the drive for simply the propane and/or feed. Ambiance & Service: The Gunns, who own the store have been in business for as long as I can remember, and their passion for the business shows. There's a clear and obvious feeling of a entering a small/helpful community business here, which is the magic that happens when you've got people that care. That attitude extends to the rest of the staff, as I've personally bought stuff from probably everyone who's worked there throughout the last few years. All of them seem knowledgeable, professional, and happy to be there. As mentioned above the store is well organized, and set up in a logical fashion with seasonal items up front (or outside) and a hardware section in the back. In between you'll find aisles that are laid out in a format that lends itself well to the shopper. For example: Large tools are spaced out along the exterior walls for easy comparison. If you've got a task (or two) that you're trying to accomplish, you'll likely be able to grab what you need in one section. Final Thoughts: If you're a 15+ minute drive from the Clearview area, sure, you might be better served going elsewhere for small items, or things you don't need assistance on. For those tasks where you need a helpful hand, the drive out to Clearview is worth considering. For those living in the general vicinity of the store--well, you're in luck, because you've got a local hardware store that will do what they can to make your "honey-do" list shrink a bit with the least amount of pain to your time, patience, and wallet. -AC

This place is great. People are old school type and very friendly. If you use propane this is the best place in town to buy it.

If I'm displeased, I generally chalk it up to someone having a bad day or, if repeated consistently, I go elsewhere. (Praise should be public, criticism private). I unfortunately don't recall names, but it was pretty much everyone there from floor to register. I had just gotten new plates for my car... just came from DoL after 3rd time trying interstate title transfer. (I'll leave those details to your imagination...) I realized I needed a special tool in order to mount them. I came here because it's super close to work and they'd always been very helpful previously. It appeared a little bit of a reset was happening so things were little disorganized in some regard. Changing seasonal merch and all that fun.) but every one on the floor began to help look for what I needed, then get the different bolts to use and even replaced the bolts so I didn't have to purchase new tools (that I already have, just in storage and inaccessible at the moment). The level of helpful patience was beyond anything expected. Ever. I've worked in various customer service jobs my entire life. I know people can be exhausting. They spent a good 30+ minutes (of course taking turns helping others with the same friendly attitude when they came in) for ultimately a $6 sale. I've been to this Ace numerous times over the past decade or so and always a very good experience and excellent service. This time deserves a special shout out. I hope the crew that day all see this and know how much it meant to me. Thank you. I'd give more stars if I could.

I sensed someone very close behind me. It was the person helping along with a large dog on a rope. Not sure if this was personalized service or following me on a potential theft suspicion. (door had sign requiring leaving backpacks etc. at counter). I quickly found what I wanted, but I'm sure others would have freaked out if they don't like dogs close in their space. Maybe this was a result of a prior violent theft or scare. Who knows. Anyway, I like the place because of the knowledgeable, friendly staff. They have been helpful over the years, having all the things I need, especially hard-to-find items and bolts/fasteners.

The first time I was there a guy did an okay job getting me what I needed and he stayed past his shift to finish helping me, but he and another worker kept complaining about how lazy a guy named Jose is. I'm sorry you have a lazy employee on your team but I don't need to hear this. The second time I was there I waited at least 15 minutes for someone to come assist me. I even called the store and got hold of a manager (Kim?) and it still took this long. The guy that helped me did the same thing as the last 2, complained about Jose more than I cared and did an okay job. The 3rd time I got there and as soon as I walked in and old guy at least over 60 helped me right away and did a great job. As he was finishing up some punk kid walked by and told the old man he's taking another break. The old man said "okay Jose." I laughed. This place did okay, probably would hurt to get rid of this Jose guy.

It was outside garden on a stand up forklift. We had no issue waiting 5 min or so but we are instacarting and our time is valuable and we lose money the longer we wait. I after 15 min of waiting I said can we please just get item since it was right by us and was told we couldn't do it because of safety. I mentioned that the customers come first and that we shouldn't have to wait anytime at all. We grabbed the stuff in under 30 sec. I was then argued with by the employees that were in that area at the time. They said that customers have to wait even if it's for a long period of time which is not ok and shows the lack of training by home Depot and their supervisor shows they don't care about customers and only are there for a paycheck. I was never talked to by their direct manager though I asked 2 times it embarrassing that the customer is not able to come in and get what they want in a quick and efficient matter. I would never come here unless it's for instacart .. retrain employees and actually make them pay attention and make sure they actually watch it. Also how many spotters does it take to help with the forklift. I saw about 6 employees standing around just watching. Also shouldn't need to block off two adjacent isles. I can see why this home Depot is only 2 stars. What a complete joke of employees and asking for a supervisor 2 times and no one talked at all to us about what happened. SMH also next time just help and grab item for customer.

You failed miserably. Things can happen, but making promises and verifying that promise for a replacement when you delivered the wrong order, to begin with and when you fail to follow up as promised,, is on you, not the customer. When calling to verify the delivery 2 days past the promised date, it takes 15 minutes to tell the customer you need a couple of minutes to find the order and promise a callback, and an hour later, while landscapers are waiting, a second call is placed. I waited 2 hours for that follow-up call when I called you. All the excuses do not equal taking action. The important piece of this was that this was a very special Christmas presentation that used these lights. My wife started this. Since my wife's passing, this will be the first time they have not been up. This is also the first time all my children and grandchildren will be together. Your lack of basic customer service just ruined a long-running family tradition. I was not asking for a miracle; I was asking for just plain customer service. You and 3 of your employees failed.

The main idea was to kill a bit of time and the hope of maybe seeing some baby chicks even though they are often in these stores on a seasonal basis. Well indeed we did get to see the baby chicks. Many were older at this point and had their own feathers but there were younger furry ones too. The older ones yellow fur was gone but they were still very cute. All different kinds of different chickens here also so quite a nice variety of types. I love that they're ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP. Last year, I wanted a specific kind of duck and they helped me get an appointment for the specific time when they were coming in. Same for the turkeys - they worked with me via email to set up the appointment. It was beyond everything I expected, especially considering COVID craziness. If they're ever out of something at this location, they'll check if they have it at the Monroe location (a quick, 7-8 min drive). Again - always ready and willing to help you out. A big draw is that they have no-ethanol fuel - the preferred fuel for small engines (lawnmowers, weed-whackers... etc.) and you can fill up propane here. So, it can get pretty busy. Completely unrelated to ducks and turkeys, I recently built a gym in my garage - due to COVID - and Tractor Supply was the premier supplier of 3/4 inch horse stall mats - the preferred DIY gym flooring solution. These mats are ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK... and people camp out on the page checking for stock and are driving 100's miles to get them. It's nuts. However, Snohomish Co-Op recently got a bunch in stock. I don't know if this is something they usually have, but I appreciated them getting them in! It's just such a useful place, and I really appreciate it!
