So if you know what you need and where to find, you'll probably be fine here. However, there are many issues. When I walked in I didn't see a single employee, not one. As I walked down the aisles I found 8 in a circle just complaining about work in a manner you really don't want customers to hear. I spent 15 minutes grabbing what I needed and went to ask an employee a question and he's wearing not one but two earbuds and replies "WHAT?!" Do I really need to explain what's wrong with this? I've also never seen so many employees in a workplace on their phones, I feel like I could have even stole anything and not gotten caught. I've always been "old school" when it comes to lawn mowers, always had to have a gas mower because my mindset was they had more power. My gas mower needed replacing so headed to Ace Hardware to get a new one and the salesman convinced me to buy this E-Mower with the agreement, if it didn't meet my needs, I could return it. Not 100% convinced but took on the challenge, I was amazed, the cut was perfect, battery lasted a full hour which completed my mow and still had 1/4 bars left. No gas, no oil, no spark plugs, same power and a simple 56V rechargeable lithium battery which takes 45 minutes to charge, also easy to hose down and clean, no mess, no fuss and great purchase. This store has gone out of their minds ! I assure you ACE hardware is soon to be a thing of the past , my elderly mother and I were out the other day and she wanted a bag of bark, not only did bark go up from $7 a bag it almost doubled from last year to $13 this year (2024)..... As we walked through the store we were both appalled to see those little pressed tin frog characters for the yard at an alarming $55.00 , that's FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS ! I also had to pick up 8 spanner bolts and 8 nuts, I also needed the spanner bit for the drill gun , the total was $45 ! ! ! ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? $45 FOR 8 NUTS AND 8 BOLTS...... Bottom line we are done with ACE 100% ! When we got home I looked up the tin frog yard art thingy and found it online for $3.99 , no lie- i am being straight up honest $3.99 ! I also found the spanner bolts and nuts on Amazon for $12 and some change (free shipping). you tell me how long people will tolerate these absolutely ridiculous prices ? Just unsubscribed from my account email notifications. I've had an account for years and every once in a while I get coupons for discounts. Most of the time I just let them expire because of the time limits. It's usually not much of a deal especially since their prices are so much higher than the big box stores. Most of the times I shop there is because of convenience because they are closer to me so I'll pay the higher prices. They use to be a great place to shop because of the service help you receive. No longer do I receive greetings as I enter the stores or the offers for help. I usually have to flag someone down for help. Since I often go there in emergencies, I most always forget whatever coupons I have. You would think that since I'm in their system if I mentioned a coupon I left at home they would honor it out of consideration for regular customers. Not the case. There's been many other poor service visits but this review is long enough. The reason I decided to give a review today is because of their website difficulties. I had a $5 Birthday gift plus a 10% discount for using a coupon code. I couldn't use any because of the ridiculous web site even though I was responding to an email I received. I was shopping at my local Ace and needed some tools. The associate was extremely kind in helping find what I needed. I went out to the Garden Center and saw a sign 75% off red tag items. I picked up 4 things and proceeded to counter. They ring up full price and when noted they corrected and charged 75% off. An associated over heard and asked the manager about the sign. I saw that the snow could be starting and knew that my daughter's spongey foam penguin snow slider couldn't possibly still work for her with the worn surfaces and broken handles. I went by Ace Hardware in Lake Stevens but missed them as it was too late. I checked around at Fred Meyer, Target, Walmart etc. My thoughts about the large box stores and large retailers were born true, none of them had Sleds as expected. All these large locations had one thing in common, they were gearing up for spring and yardwork. Most of these locations start merchandising for the snow/cold season at Halloween and stop after Christmas, and most of their inventory is computer driven. If they didn't sell any sleds last year in February, they won't order any significant amount ones this year and usually after Christmas they won't order any at all. Lake Stevens Ace Hardware has the ability to order products ,like Sleds, on 'Hunches' and experience. If they don't sell through all their sleds they can hold some of the product over to the next year. Sometimes they win and sometimes they lose, but they are willing to bet on the customer instead of a computer, and that is what Ace Hardware did... When all the other stores in the area were putting out pansies and fertilizer, Lake Stevens Ace Hardware was creating a display at their front door with an ample supply and selection of sleds! There were plastic sleds, plastic disks, toboggins for one, two and 'family size' They had inflatable tubes for one person and two persons, and the item I bought a super heavy duty metal painted disk. The number of sales persons on the floor ensured everyone would be helped quickly. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly but not overly attentive like some sales staff can be. There were values everywhere I looked. They had a great clearance event going on with tables of odd and unsold merchandise, a by-product of having what we need when we need it. Their prices, while not the lowest, reflected how they choose to go to market. The pricing is fair, especially when you consider the overall strategy of a small town store. They may have to carry things that they can't possibly sell just to provide us the 'full assortment' or our expected items. I know that when I shop at Lake Stevens Ace Hardware, I'll get a fair price on products I need. I know that the burden of them carrying those odd items I might need will impact my overall cost of goods in the store, but the overall value I get makes it the best place for me to shop for all my home town hardware needs. read more

Let me just say how LUCKY we are to have a 5 star hardware like this in the area. ANYTHING I need is here. But the customer service goes above & beyond. Right after New Years I purchased my 2nd Weber grill (my first Weber grill lasted 10 yr) & it was a cheaper lighter version called the Q-grill. Right away there were problems with the gas feed but after having a similar Weber model for 10 yr I went thru standard checklist...switch tanks out, check ignition etc but it intermittently became worse. Finally it gave up the ghost in April. Called Mike, Manager & he was super, informed me there was a Weber Repair guy who now came out ti fix your grill ON WARRANTY. I called Weber 800#, Dominic said 'no problem' in 7-10 days a repair guy would be out...well he WASN'T. Called Weber, left email messages for Dominic, then received a cryptic email from a Chris saying 'Oops, Dominic told you a white lie, we do not repair the (cheaper) grills oh, & BTW here is a list if part #'s that you can BUY to try to fix a 4 month old grill.' Excuse me?! Not acceptable guys! Called Mike at ACE AGAIN & he said 'no problem, bring it back. Robert, his boss at store, great guy, took care of things. He is a grill aficionado (said he has 4 grills at home) & understood I was in withdrawal from not having my grill for 4 months. Did I say it is nice to know we have an ACE of this caliber right in our back yard? ...Think I did ...TWICE. P.S. Shame on Weber for treating a return customer this way. read more

I bought 3 items on 12/22, and then realized that I had forgot my Rewards account coupon for $10 off (12/15 - 12/31). I came back on 12/24 to return and buy it again with the coupon, but they denied it, and it had to be done within 24 hours. I would understand if I had received the coupon after I made the purchase (this would allow everyone to bring back previous purchases when they receive their next coupon), but clearly I had received the rewards coupon before my purchase, as it was dated 12/15-12/31. Ace Hardware in Sultan, wa is a great place to go pick up those last minute shopping items, building supplies, pet supplies etc. They have great staff willing to help you with anything you are looking for. This is my favorite store to shop in. Yes, it even beats shoe stores! Beyond being the best place to find whatever it is you need in the way of hardware, they have a little bit of everything else. They also only hire people who know their stuff. Even if I think I know how I'm going to complete my project, I like to run it by one of the "guys" first to make sure I haven't missed anything. They are always really nice and very knowledgeable.. They have saved me a lot of time and money. They also won't hesitate to send you home empty handed if they think you don't need anything. You don't have to go searching for help there. The staff waits in the main aisle and asks if you need help. Unless you are me. They ignore me. LOL But then they know me, and they know I will ask them if and when I need them. The store is kind of like the old merchantile store. You can buy everything from houseplants to pet food to a spatula there. They sell gifts and stuff to network your computers and doorknobs. Lawn furniture and birdhouses. Candy bars and ice cream. And of course power tools. *drools* Their prices beat Lowe's every time. They have all of my money. If you go there, ask them if they will give me some back. I need it so I can buy a table saw... Wow just had a bad experience here even though I spend a lot of money here. Saw kids pick nick table marked down 20 bucks last display model. Cool grabbed it to cashier where I'm informed the 20 is only for an assembly fee gee thanks it's ALL READY BUILT. So we say sorry to much but we will make you a deal (this one had gouges out of it and was pretty ruff) so after 10 minutes 2 managers the desire to take a whopping 10 bucks off. No more shopping here. This wood pick nick tables wa also stamped "MADE IN CHINA" the guy then tells me it takes an hour to build one he does 8 a a day. About ten boards and twenty screws. Today, my dumb friend locked her keys in her car. We waited for HOURS in the scorching heat and i was BURNT, but that's besides the point. After eating 3 servings of curly fries and unsuccessfully trying to highjack her car with a quarter, we decided to head over to the Ace Hardware store. Now i had never been in an Ace Hardware store- and let me tell you the vibe was OFF with us. We're talking about 4 teen girls here. Overheated, tired, hungry, and impatient. So to my pleasant surprise, i felt quite at home at Ace. First of all, their layout is spectacular, although the in and out doors are a bit confusing. My friend walked up to a store employee, Grady, to be specific, and he greeted us with a smile and a "hi, how can i help you?" My friend calmly explained that she had locked her keys in her car and asked if anything in the store could be of use. Instead of telling us our quarter tactics were anything but beneficial, he decided to walk over to our car to help. And he didn't just make the trek across the parking lot once, but twice! We were clear on the other side! He told us he would get the 'slim jim' to help and we were very confused as to why beef jerky was necessary in a time like this... until he returned with a clothes hanger-looking object to try and unlock the car. A very long story short, we had to wait for the spare key to be delivered to us, but that did not stop him from trying to help us and from keeping a positive attitude throughout, which was refreshing to see in a stressful time like this. He even laughed at my (very bad) jokes! To go that much out of his way on a slow going Friday afternoon is impressive! I hate to write this review because until now I loved this store. Staff were very helpful, and I especially loved the outdoor garden section. The plant buyer has a great eye and knows his/her plants- you'll see stuff here that you won't expect to see at a hardware store. 5 stars for the garden section. Now for the bad- I recently went camping on San Juan Island where they have an Ace. I ended up not using most of what I bought and decided to return it to the Ace here in Lake Stevens. Apparently, even though everything has not been opened, I had the receipt and it was still in the Ace bag, and bought it 1 week ago, I would not be refunded my entire amount I paid for it. WHAT?? Apparently, since each Ace is a franchise, per the manager, each Ace charges different prices for things and they can only refund me the amount they charge for things. Friday Harbor Ace charged me more for rope and other camping supplies and Lake Stevens charged less- so for example on one of my items, I paid $8.99 but would only get back $6.99 since that was what Lake Stevens charges. There is nothing in the receipt about this, Ace is advertises as a group, and you'd expect you'd be able to go into another Ace and be able to return something and get back what you paid for it. I argued this with the manager but he would not budge. Over a few dollars he has lost a long term customer and rightly deserves this Yelp write up. Warning - make sure you return things to the store you bought them from or you risk losing money!! Not shopping at another Ace again. The local hardware store in Snohomish is where I'll ship from now on. read more
