I stopped in about 9:30 on a weekday morning to have two keys made. I walked back the the service desk, passing two employees who were chatting with each other along the way. No greeting, no friendly may I help you? Ok, whatever. I go stand at the service desk while holding my one year old. I waited, and waited and then I waited more. Finally i went to go find assistance. I found an employee in the aisle working. I asked her for some help getting a key made. She huffed "it's at the service desk." I responded that I had been at the service desk waiting and no help arrived. She said "fine, I'll call someone." I walked back to the service desk. The same lady I had seen chatting with another employee came back, didn't even say hello, just took the keys, cut them and gave them back, all without saying a word, just looking extremely annoyed that she'd had to stop her conversation with the other employee to help me. Since the keys work great I'm leaving two stars instead of one. Next time I'll take my business to McDaniels on Snohomish where the employees are service oriented. read more

The best hardware store by far. The employees, and I mean every single one of them knows where everything is. How they do it is beyond me because they carry a bit of everything! Small kitchen appliances, garden, great power tools, lumber, heaters, axes, paint, And they make keys. If you need it, they will have it. This store exemplifies customer service. From the moment you walk in and are greeted with a smile and welcome, until the time you pay and exit you are treated more like a family member. They guide you, ask questions, make suggestions, and if you happen to buy the wrong item they are happy to refund the money. They also stock some neat items that you might not have thought of when buying the parts/items you originally came in for and that is just great retailing. We are always able to find a little extra something that we really need or simply would like to have. The prices are very fair and may be just a bit higher than the "big box store", yet you receive great customer service making that difference justifiable. I appreciate this store and wish more of the local companies would see them as an example of what the overall shopping experience should be. We shop here all the time, they normally have what we need and recently ordered a few yard tools since it was there off season for what we needed. Everything showed up quickly and they even built the lawn mower for me. Super happy yet again. read more

I actually really enjoy having a Ace location so close to my house. Once again when it comes to fitting and nuts/bolts and screws.. Ace is king! I was installing a front lip on my car and needed self tapping screws, sadly I came in yesterday unprepared and bought small screws. Thankfully they're so close I was able to jet there when they opened and grab 1 3/4 screw with washers and spacers. Finished my mini project all thanks to ace. This location may be smaller than usual but the customer service is always top notch. I am always greeted as well as asked if I need help. Usually I can find my own stuff but it's really nice to have someone who knows where all the fittings are when you need something specific. The garden center is pretty big here too, and I'm not sure if it's because of the size of this ace but I noticed there's always plenty of employees around. Sometimes when I go to other locations there will be no more than 2-3 in the store but here there's easily 6 at least. I'll be back to my friendly neighborhood ace very soon. read more

My family has gone here since I was a little girl so we know most of the employees. We love ACE hardware so the incident that happened yesterday was quite shocking. Due to medical conditions as of September I've used a medical alert/response service dog but he isn't your typical breed. He is a puggle so he gets viewed as a fake service dog quite often. Yesterday my dad and I went shopping there and my service dog was vested making it very clear he was a working service dog not a joke. My dad went to go pick up something from another section leaving us in another section. One of the employees looked me up and down disapprovingly and met another group of employees in the paint section. My back was turned so I'm assuming they didn't think I could hear them but they began talking about my dog and not in a good way. And to sum up the conversation they thought my dog was fake I heard it all and looked right as them and ironically enough they began stumbling over there words as to try and cover up this mistake. I'm not deaf nor blind I knew what was going on. I'm 14 witch pretty much entitles that my parents wouldn't let me fake a service dog nor could I pay for all of the gear it takes to do so. I was embarrassed again because all of the employees on the front end looked at me sideways too for having a small service dog. I left with my dad And continued shopping at other stores but this was quite disappointing and I hope it doesn't happen any other service dog team. Not impressed.n read more

I have been a loyal and happy customer of the lake stevens ace hardware for over 5 years. I have made a point of going to them because of the awesome customer service and environment(even though on most things they are more expensive then the other hardware stores). I was very disappointed with my visit today. I went in with my 5 dollar coupon I get because I'm a ace rewards member. I get these coupons very regularly especially in the winter because we buy ALL of our pellets for the pellet stove at this ace. I have been purchasing the SAME brand of pellets for 5 years! In those five years they have always been priced at 4.75 for the clean burn brand. I have never once seen them labeled ANyWHERE in the store as anything else. When I went to use my 5 dollar coupon on my purchase of over 20 dollars worth of pellets. Which was what the coupon said. I was told sorry. That's only on regular priced items. I have been under the impression that this was regular price as I have been paying this price for over 5 years. And have never seen otherwise. WELL apparently the regular price is almost 8 dollars a bag. And the cashier refused to let me use the coupon and was Not willing to do anything about it and frankly her attitude was rude. What made this whole situation even more angering was that I have used this exact same coupon dozens of time over the last 5 years. When I go out of my way to be a loyal customer to a local business and to refer friends and family to said business. All it takes is one bad experience to dissuade me from ever returning. Ace hardware you have lost not just one very loyal customer but the people I have refer to your business. read more

I've spent a lot of money each spring at this store, but never again. A couple of days ago I went in to buy some seeds and potting soil. I had seen earlier that Haggen's right across the street was selling the exact same seeds "Ed Hume" flower and veg. seeds at a 25% discount, so I asked the sales person if they would match the price. A supervisor had to be found, Jodie, and then she couldn't do anything without checking with "Greg". She came back and told me "Greg" needed to see a photo of the sale at Haggen's. I didn't have my phone with me (it was charging at home) or a handy camera in the car so I asked them to simply call Haggen's. Well, that was not something they were willing to do. They made me feel increasingly like I was lying about the sale by requiring ridiculous proof without lifting a finger to call Haggen's to assist an Ace Rewards customer. Jodie just repeated that "Greg" needed a photo. Greg never even had the common courtesy to come out from wherever he was to discuss this me like a grownup. If he is the manager, he doesn't deserve to have such a position. I told Jodie I would buy the seeds at Haggen and left. I bought the seeds and went back to see Jodie and showed her the receipt, which reflected the 25% discount. She simply repeated like a parrot that "Greg" needed to see a photo, as these might not be the same Ed Hume Seeds. They were. I was astounded at such complete disregard for a customer's feelings, idiotic and incomprehensible behavior, and utter lack of common sense from employees and management in a Lake Stevens store which relies on good public relations in order to survive. Especially toward a senior citizen who was willing to spend her money in their store. I urge you to spend your money elsewhere. Any other store in this community would have been happy to at least check out what I was telling them. read more

went in to return a few items yesterday for which i had receipts. I had purchased an extension cord after asking an employee if I should get a heavier duty one but he had told me not to, as it would be overkill. The electrician told me I needed a more heavy duty cord so it was part of my return. I did not have the small paper wrapper as my mother had thrown it out. I had my things up at the counter while I went get the better cord, when a man asks me if I am the one with the returns. I said yes. He tells me if I don't have the wrapper, he is not going to take the return. I told him I had the receipt and was sold the wrong one. He told me he didn't care and was really rude about it. He asked me if I would buy a cord without the wrapper if it were on the shelf. I told him I thought he was using a rude tone with me and asked if he was the Manager. He told me he was the owner. I said I wouldn't be shopping here anymore and he said, fine, then I won't take any of your items back. He said "no one pushes my buttons!" Get out of my store now. He grabbed my things from the girl at the counter and said leave now! I said "So much for the helpful hardware man" Will never go there again. read more

i love ace ! i agree with the previous comments completely with one exception - i hope that ace has a supportive rehab program because at least 4 of the main employees i encountered at this granite falls store are seriously wired out of their minds and the store has been reported nationally because of the safety concern since they may have to demonstrate heavy machinery i only met 4 people that worked there -this is a serious problem if these people lose their job, 10 more qualified people can easily replace them in this town but they would not get hired somewhere else . i hope they take a break and get some healthier people in. they are representing the the ace brand. posted with mad love for my town . read more

a very bad trip i showed them the drill i wanted and they gave me a completely different drill when i went back the sale ended and they said that procrastination doesn't pay. when it was their fault they gave me the wrong product never going back to ace. read more
