I love having this Ace Hardware in town, it's so convenient. I've always had excellent help in the past. But if you're considering a large purchase such as an Ego lawnmower, I wouldn't recommend Ace. Mine did not work after one mow. They told me to bring it in and 2 employees looked it over and it would not start. They said that's too bad and loaded it in my car and told me to deal with Ego. I'm a senior lady loading this lawnmower in my car and now talking to a service representative from Ego speaking broken English. I should have shopped at Costco. We tried to return fluorescent bulbs and was told it showed we purchased a bath mat on the date in question and wouldn't return the bulbs as they had different numbers. My receipt for that date shows bulb fl, I didn't have the receipt with me at the time. My refund is only 20 but we didn't appreciate the service we received. Claremont Village Ace Hardware is the best. Yeah it's not a big-box Hardware store, but it's got all the stuff the big guys have, and you can find a person to help you at sll times. They do greet you at the door. Also, if I'm needing the replacement screw and nut for my project (today it's my bicycle), they have every kind. In fact they have a Nut room with all the sizes and types in one place, really easy to find the size I need. I'm left alone to search the aisles, or I can get some help Pronto. We are so pleased to have this store available in our area. It is clean, neat, organized and well stocked. Best of all, the employees are very helpful, knowledgeable, experienced and friendly. A major shout-out to Andy who, today, went above and beyond to help us determine a solution on how to fix the connector of our air pump, which we use for pumping up vehicle tires and bike tires. Then, not only did he find the right parts for the job, with a lot of "umph" he was able to insert the part in the right position. This was something we would not have been able to do. I have always had a good experience at this ace when I go in to buy mason jars, keys, screws, etc. Yesterday I went in to buy paint for my new table. I know nothing about "real" paint. I usually just do crafts with craft paint and not projects that require any other type of paint. Jonathan answered all my questions and didnt make me feel dumb for not knowing anything about what I needed or where to even start. He was very friendly and down to earth. I went back in today and he even remembered me and the conversation we had/my idea for my table. Never thought I'd be giving a review for ace, but this customer service was fabulous. Save yourself a trip go anywhere but here. Guy at paint counter was really rude, or just didn't want to work. After arguing with us and telling us what we wanted was wrong, we just grabbed our stuff and walked out. The reason for this rating is due to their Reward Program which is a corporate issue! Unfortunately the store represents the corporation. I'm a longtime customer and have been a member for several years and receive the coupons, however every time I try to use them they have so many things that don't qualify I began to throw them away. Today I went in the store to purchase an A/C unit which I did. The cashier asks me if I'm an awards member and I said "yes"! She says you don't have any rewards and I ask her to check again. I have the App on my phone, except all my information has been erased. I re-enter it and it says I don't have an account. I know I do, because she pulled it up using my phone number. When I expressed my frustration she called another person to help. She was as frustrated as I was & explained they have trouble with their reward program all the time! Shame on the corporation for putting their employees through that because it's not their fault. I shop at this store because of the employees and the closeness to my home, but I can go to a big box store. My boyfriend is a new homeowner & has a detached shop that needed new siding, gutters, roof, & a fresh coat of paint. Combined, it was all pretty spendy. We wanted to match the shop's paint color to the house, so we popped off a dryer vent & brought it in. Josh was so helpful & nice! All of the employees are. We needed a certain kind of paint but they didn't have it in stock, so he was able to sell us the more expensive paint at a discounted price. We used A LOT of paint, so this helped so much! We brought our Aussie in a few times too & the employees all loved him! It was a great experience & we will always come here for our home needs! I have been to this store just a few times and they have excellent customer service. The cashier always greets you and then alerts the staff on the floor to the direction you head so that they can come find you and offer some help. I've made two trips to this store for some plumbing parts (emergency) and then grass seed and each time they didn't have enough so I didn't buy anything and now feel like I wasted my time even stopping in. It's hard to sell things to make your store more successful if you aren't carrying enough product for your customers to complete a project. This is a disappointing experience considering I would much rather support the smaller local stores like this one that actually seem to care enough to have a good level of customer service and product knowledge. Instead I'm forced via low stock levels to go the place I dread most. Home Depot or Lowe's. read more

The store is the only one where the second I walk in people greet me and ask if I need help. If there was a drinking game where I was to take a shot every time staff spoke to me or asked if I needed help....I would need a ride to the emergency room in about 5 minutes. Usually I shy away from chit-chat but the staff at this Ace Hardware show that they are intentionally interested in serving you. And they have repeatedly walked all around the store helping me find, or helping me find alternatives, or just brainstorm options for making a project work. If I tried that same drinking game at Lowe's or Home Depot I would be sober until Christmas. If you want authentic customer service, Ace is the place! read more

The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They really do know how to do everything and where everything is. The store is also bigger than it seems from the outside. They do have what you need. They also offer a points card that earns you gift cards and they send a gift card for our birthday. Last year I bought myself a fancy new wall outlet with my birthday gift. WOOT! Best hardware store around. If you are like me, large home improvement stores like Lowe's and Home Depot have too much STUFF. if you ask where something is, you get an aisle number. Each time I go into this store, the employees are eager to help and offer any assistance they possibly can. Josh and Lyle are extra helpful. I showed up in the store last evening with a bag full of (burnt out) light bulbs from my house, and Lyle stood with me in the aisle, found each light bulb that I needed, then carried them to the front for me until I was done shopping. Recently purchased 6 bags of pellets and had them loaded into my car. When it came time to grab one it was a total mess and spilled all over my drive way. Come to find out that one of the bags had a tear in it and some thought it was a good idea to use a piece of packing tape to do a poor repair job. 30 minutes later and the mess is cleaned up. read more

I Went here thinking it would be better then going to the now crowded big box stores. I was looking for some containers and soil for my tomatoes plants. I was on the outside of the store where they keep all the soil and fertilizer looking at the tomato cages, when I hear someone yells MA'AM. I look up and see an employee over 20 feet away. I say sorry am I in your way and he just points to where I'm standing. I see that he's standing by a pallet of soil which I could clearly see wasn't ready to put in the spot where I was at, yet but he still rudely yelled at me. I understand people are frustrated about what's going on in the world right now but that's still no excuse to treat someone rudely. So if you do decide to go to Ace Hardware in Everett stay away from the older bigger guy with a white beard he clearly needs to work on his customer service skills. I've made the decision not to go back. I feel strongly about supporting local business owners but this is one that's not going to get my business anymore. I also called the store to speak with the store manager but he sounded like he could care less about the incident. read more

This store is just a few blocks from my house so I would always make this store my first stop. I frequently don't find what find I need there and end up a larger store but I wanted to support the stores in my neighborhood. I am constantly approached and followed around the store like I am some kind of theif. Yesterday I found myself sitting in my car in their parking lot looking online to see if they carried a particular herbicide because I felt too uncomfortable to go inside and look. Didn't see it so I left and found it elsewhere. Will not continue to give my business in a store that makes me feel that uncomfortable. read more

Some of these reviews are so dead on it's crazy. This store is ran by someone who knows nothing about r etail, which is why she aggressively trains/demands, that all of her employees, bascially harass every customer that walks through the door, in the same stale, and redundant manner want to go to a store, where someone bothers you 20 times, every 5 minutes, when you are there to buy a light bulb, then this store is you. If you are a regualr human being, who is not pathetic and completely starved for attention, then you may want to think about shopping, at a box store, or harbor freight, where you can get the same item {with better selection) at half the price. I have ahd awesome bosses, asshole bosses, micro manager, power trippers, amazing inspiring people, and bosses who hate their life, and take it out on you, Judith ( owner, manager,) is the worst boss Ive ever had, and hands down, one of the worst people I've ever met, in my life. She is good at kissing the customer's ass. But, please believe me, she treats her employees with less respect, then something that you would find on the bottom of you shoe, i understand, that some of you may care less about this kind of thing, and the last thing of importance to you, is how the boss treats their employees. In that case, don't listen to me. Go in the store, and do a little shopping, have some popcorn (the only legitimate reason to actually go to this store) and see if you find their bizarre attempt at customer service creepy. You will be "greeted" as you enter, and asked at least once or twice, why you are there. and what you want. Don't worry, you won't have to ask for help, they will harass, i mean kindly ask you if they can be of assistence. However, don't blame the staff. If they don't go out of their way to annoy the bejesus out of you, they will be brow beaten by the owner of the store, who spend most of her waking hours there, so she can micro manage the hell out off all of her slave, I mean employees. And yes you are being profiled (as one of the previous reviews, suggests) if you want to know if they think you are a shoplifter, they will annouce over the radio, that "Dennis" is in the store. This is their code for shoplifter. Just to let you know, this is the first and most likely the last yelp review I have ever left about anything. I have never felf as though it is important to go out of my way to bother with putting down a buisness., However, in the case, of Judith and Ace Hardware , in Everett, on Evergreen, I think it is important that everyone is aware, of how horribly she treats her employees. If you are thinking about working there, trust me, it is NOT worth the $10 an hour! it wouldn't be worth $50 an hour. Unless you are a masocist. Worst customer service. I bought a tool, I did try to use it but didn't work , so when I tried to return it they refused to refund my money because I used the tool. However they don't have any sign where specify those kind of tools are final sales. This place sucks. Next time I will buy Home Depot or Lowe's and you should do it too, because at least you know if it doesn't work you will have your money back or credit in the store. read more

I so want to love this store. It is less than 3 blocks from my home, super convenient (next to QFC) and it has everything. Plus it has that neighborhood store feel that you just don't get from a big box store. And they have popcorn. :) But... The employees are "helpful" to the point of being aggressive. I actually have to brace myself when I go in there to face to throngs of staff who will assault me with questions about what they can help me with. I've been there plenty of times. I know what I need and where to find it. If I need help, I know there are plenty of people to ask. They even have a walkie/talkie system where they communicate with each other in this kind of eerie way. "Women in a grey sweatshirt walking towards Aisle 3. She said she doesn't need any help." Uugh. I feel like I can't just shop or browse in peace. Don't get me wrong--I'm glad they are well staffed and eager to help. It just feels aggressive and makes me want to hide/run. AND...they have some partnership with some roofing company. There is a guy who stands close to the register and wears an apron so he looks like he's staff. He even asks you, "Anything I can help you find?", as if you need one more helpful employee trying to assist you. Then, as you're about to check out he strikes. "Hey, are you a homeowner?" "Want to enter into a drawing for $15,000 of free services?" I got duped into this once and entered. Of course, then I got a call from their roofing company (can't recall which one), and since we are in the market for a roof in the next couple of years, I did arrange with someone to come out to give me an estimate. They were only available at certain times so I left my job early in Seattle to make it home in time for when they were scheduled to show up. 30 minutes after they were supposed to be at my house, the guy called to say that he actually had someone take an order so he wasn't going to make it to my house. I was pretty irritated and just hurried him off the phone and then had to deal with calls from the company for months, even though I explained a handful of times to the person that I was no longer interested and had a bad experience with their company. So, bottom line on Ace on Evergreen--it would be a great store if they could tone it down a bit with their aggressive customer service AND if they hadn't struck this deal with the annoying roofing company. I just end up irritated whenever I go in there. I hope they change these things because I'd like to patronize this store without the dread I experience now. read more

I only go here when I need to grab something quick. Usually it's a PVC part. Which they stock lots of options but not very many of anything. If you need 10 elbows... they'll have 4. The problem I have with this store is I dread going in. The minute the door opens you get a greeting and a, what are you looking for today. If you tell them. I'm looking for X. They'll say that's on isle 5 and then radio an associate when you're out of earshot that a man in a green jacket is on isle 5 looking for X. The store is small, I'm sure it's their policy to stop and ask you what they can help you find, but you run into 5 employees just trying to get to what you want. And if you are taking a bit to figure out, lets say a plumbing situation, they ask you every 5 minutes if they can help. Then when you do say, sure I need X. They basically say, oh I'm not sure about that. Or if you can't find something, it's because they don't carry it. It's basically like trying to shop for hardware at a Fred Meyers with a little more selection but still can never get everything I'd need from a bigger box store there. If I only need 1 thing and I know they have it, I'll run it and grab it and play defense the whole way to get there and back to the register. At which point they'll still ask if you found everything ok, after watching you get asked 5 times on the way to the counter. read more

Wow! These guys know how to do everything! I work retail and its hard to impress me, but Ace has. Today alone, I have learned how to and successfully patch the leaks in my basement, decided on paint for my living room, dining room, and daughter's room, tackling building an awning, customized my daughter's doll house, replaced the vintage indoor door knobs and replaced the locks on my doors!Thank you much Ace, you really are the helpful hardware place! Ace is to Lowe's, what Everett is to Seattle. Ace/Everett is a smaller, less congested, and easier to get around option with friendlier people. It will not however be open late at night nor have an abundance of flashy things. As for this store: 4-star rating for the homey atmosphere and surprising inventory for such a small store. Only negative is it may cost a slight bit more on a couple things and you may need to go to the big box guy if there's a specialty thing you need and just cant live without or your doing a bigger project. +1 for the free popcorn throughout the day and jerky/cheese vending machine. read more

ACE is the place! I cannot get over the level of customer service at this Everett Store. Brace yoursellf as you enter, be cause they will say hi, tell you exactly where to go and then call for an associate to guide you to what your looking for and answer questions. it's a amazing! Super nice family , mom and pop feel. I will go there always first, and even pay a bit more if i have to. It will be a shock. Just absorb it and enjoy the best possible sales service ever. Then at the mall.I should of went to Sears.I had been looking at the two piece roll away Craftsmen tool box.The price was over 150.00 But one of you're clerks shoed me out of the store.I asked him if it was worth losing a sale or not having to stay an extra 5 mins.He told me basically that the extra time was not worth the sale. I love the convenient location of the store and that I can get in and out quickly. The staff is more than willing to be the helpful hardware person. The problem I have is that I feel like I'm under surveillance every time I go in. Its like, are they trying to be helpful or is it an extreme focus on loss prevention. They have what I need about 50 percent of the time but the convenience makes it great if they have what I am looking for. I do like the fact they have Craftsman tools. So if your looking for basic hardware then try Ace. The Everett store is smaller than other Ace hardware stores like Lake Stevens. read more

I didn't know places like this still existed! Imagine, actual "customer SERVICE"! Staff listened to what I needed and offered multiple suggestions to solve my problem and -get this- let me decide what would be best for me! Smallish store crammed to the rafters with every imaginable need for the average homeowner without the vast expanse of a "big box" hardware warehouse nightmare. Friendly, knowledgable staff who REALLY want to help rather than just sell you something. Willing to order ANYTHING not in stock and if they can't get it, they'll try to direct you to somewhere that DOES have it! Unheard of in this day and age. You can tell the staff enjoys their jobs so "kudo's" to store management for fostering the kind of atmosphere that allows employees to provide this level of stellar performance. Only complaint is the tempting smell of fresh, hot popcorn upon entering- now I must shop with one hand! Wish all locally owned stores were like this Ace...
