Over the years, we've utilized Dunn Lumber for many projects -- most recently to purchase composite decking. They always have a quality materials and their team couldn't be more friendly and resourceful. This time, I wanted to tackle a picture frame moulding project in our living room -- 100% on my own with no help from my husband (which he was probably grateful for). I first checked with the big box stores and didn't have any luck finding the moulding I was looking for. I decided to see what Dunn Lumber had and not only found exactly what I wanted, but at a great price. Add to that, I was able to pay a little extra for their help cutting several 8 and 12 ft pieces down to the sizes I needed. This saved me a TON of time. I also picked up all of the essentials (small hand saw, miter box, caulking, etc.) which only left me needing paint which I already had. Once I didn't mind paying a bit more for convenience, quality, and service. Dunn lost a customer, today. I was waiting to buy some wood, as some gal was returning 4 cedar fence boards. They were leaning against the counter. Rather than attend to my business the associate decides he needs to return these few boards to the yard. A little over 5 minutes pass and he returns with the boards, and dissappears again. This time for OVER 10 minutes. Now there are two others perhaps attending other larger orders, but in my sensibilities they could have seen me waiting and returned to the other less pending orders. The first attendant who knows that I have been patiently waiting then asks if I am the next number in the queue and I had not thought a number necessary as I was the only person in the store when I arrived. He calls out the number and waits for the guy whom I told him arrived recently nearly 20 full minutes after I arrived. No problem. I left, and won't be back. I have bought a lot of wood over the years, and have 2 remodels in my queue. They won't miss me, but I won't miss them.​ read more

Today Brian helped us and we needed 2 specific sized boards. They had 3 in stock and were all in bad shape. He took a longer board and cut them to size for us. Such a nice guy as well. Dunn has knowledgeable employees and great customer service. They also carry products (like bevel siding and lattice) that you won't find at the big box stores. But their prices for common items are ridiculously high, in some cases they charge more than twice what the big box stores charge so buyer beware read more

Roofer working on top of my house, knocks on door with sad face, "you have rotten facia but we don't have the cedar board you need." Called Dunn, they had it in stock and would even cut it in half to fit in my car. Gave them my credit card number and flew down there. They had the piece waiting for me when I got there 15 minutes later. It looks like the roofers might finish before the rain starts in two hours. Lesson learned: Always check for rot myself BEFORE the roofers come. Thanks Dunn Lumber! Now we needed kitchen cabinets, not only did they have an in store design center, they are a dealer for Canyon Creek Cabinets, another highly regarded local company. We were helped by Dana at the design center and I can honestly say she made the process a breeze. Her advice on details homeowners overlook saved us a lot of grief. Amazing service. I came here (unknowingly) just as they were about to close up-- but they didn't even say a word in complaint or even mention it. They then proceeded to help me find a non-conforming piece of wood; it turned out they didn't have anything that would work, so they cut a piece down to size-- they even redid it a few times when it looked like it might not be EXACT. And the charge? On the house. They just asked me to come by when I have my next project. Wide selection of materials. Fast, helpful service - they help you load your vehicle, standard. Every time my husband goes to one of the "big box" chain home improvement stores, it's always a never-ending ordeal. He just returned from a trip to Dunn lumber and was gone 23 minutes. This means his visit to Dunn (to buy decking material) lasted about 5 minutes. We're a busy family and we don't have a ton of time to wander around looking for stuff that turns out to be out of stock, so we really appreciate Dunn's selection and service! read more

Had to purchase some very specific, high quality plywood for my gym's lifting platforms. Went in expecting to purchase a certain type of plywood (for which they had the best price and by far the highest quality). Walked out with a truckload of an entirely different type of plywood that turns out is almost specifically designed for my needs. (Although more expensive due to its even higher quality) I still paid the lowest price anywhere. Knowledgeable, helpful, and concise. They also cut every single sheet to my specifications, no charge. Double checked how square the cuts were, and each board was within less than a 1/16th of an inch over the whole 8'. Better than I could have on my table saw. read more

Dunn lumber is great. The overall customer service, delivery and quality behind their products and service is great. I love how everything is easy and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Sure, you can get some products cheaper at other home improvement stores, but the service is not comparable. I just finished a loft, I sent Daan my materials list and he quickly got me a quote. Unfortunately, it was a bit more than what I could get it from Lowes. I had about 6 weeks, so I thought I could order the stuff from Lowes, schedule my delivery and hope everything arrived on time and in good shape. I had to place several orders as some things weren't in stock at certain locations, but after some work I got everything I needed. Several weeks after placing my order, I got an email from Lowes, saying they had to push my delivery window out two weeks (and this was still 3 weeks from the scheduled delivery). I just didn't understand how they couldn't find another way to get it deliverd on time, I mean they still had 3 weeks from when I needed it delevered. I spent too much time with customer service and eventually figured out that there was no one there who could help me. So I came back to Daan at Dunn and he was able to get everything I needed. I picked my delivery date. The stuff arrived with a nice forklift, so they were able to place my materials right next to where I needed it (vs wherever the lowes/home depot third party shipper could unload it). All my materials were wrapped and packed nicely and I knew that even if something was damaged that they would take care of it. read more

After discovering Dunn Lumber I have basically stopped going to Lowe's altogether. Wanted 1x4 fence boards. Lowe's $12 each, Dun $2.75. Wanted a hard tine rake. Lowe's $28, Dunn $13. Have made numerous small to medium size fixes and repairs around my yard and Dunn has been there every step of the way. We have shopped here several times as "weekend warriors" and the staff have always been very helpful; the last time going above-and-beyond! Even though a conveniently-located big-box store didn't have quite what I was looking for, I picked up what I thought could work. My wife wasn't sure about my idea, so she went to Dunn to see if they had what we needed to finish a unique wood project. One of the staff went so far as to get a wood sample and opened a can of stain off of the shelf to explain the challenging project ahead of us and how their product could be made to work, ultimately recommending a couple of specialty stores in Seattle that would have exactly what we needed. The knowledge, helpfulness, and integrity of the staff at Dunn are the reason we keep going back. Next time, I'll save myself two trips to the other place, and get 'er done with Dunn! read more

Terrific service. I ordered some extra long deck lumber and needed a few more pieces due to erroneous measurements on my behalf. But, they no longer had that length in stock. The team made it a priority to call the mill directly, get a new shipment in, and deliver it promptly.. Called to check to see if they carried the product I was looking for. Person on the phone confirmed they have the product, I asked what size and they said 3 x 5'. I asked if they had it in stock and the man went to check and confirmed yes, they have it in stock. Drove all the way there, in my car, and they have the product I was looking for but they are not 3 x 5' they are 4 x 8' and definitely will not fit in my car. What a hassle. read more
