This Ace knows me much too well! I am here buying something for one of my numerous projects 3-4 times a month. I am usually greeted and offered help with finding what I am looking for. From taking on the moles digging up my yard to re-plumbing my kitchen sink, Mukilteo Ace is the place! Today I rented the Rug Doctor again (thanks to cat Marley and dog Lucy, I repeat every 3-4 months) and also picked up pretreatment spray for pet stains, plus a jug of carpet cleaner. I will return the machine tomorrow and most likely buy something else. This store isn't so big that its really easy to navigate through. In spite of the compact size they almost always have what I need at a fair price plus the helpful staff gets me in and out fast! I don't lose half my day shopping for what I need. read more

I have been a customer at Ace Hardware in Mukilteo for almost 30 years. In that time they almost always were able to take care of all of my needs as far as my yard and house were concerned...ntil today. I called them to purchase a wheelbarrow and I asked them to deliver it to me, here i. mukilteo. He told me "Oh, we don't deliver outside 3 miles", and suggested I contact "one of our larger stores who have more emplyees." Which steuck me as a bumch of garbage, but I called the Silver Lake store. The lady I talked to was wonderful, and was also a resident of Mukilteo. She couldn't believe what I hD been told. "Let me give them a call for you." I went outside and worked for a little over an hour. No call. I came back in and called Silver Lake again. "They haven't called you yet??" "Nope." "Let me call them again." She called right back to tell me that" when I got the manager and gave him my name, he hung up on me" (!!) So I contacted Ace corporate to lodge a formal complaint. I was put on hold for 20 minutes and was told"I lodged your complaint with the store manager and you should be hearing from him soon." I told him I was mot holding my breath for that call.( that never came.) Meanwhile the gal from Silver Lake called back and offered to deliver from her store for a small fee. I told her "thank you so much for going above and beyond, but I won't give Ace Hardware another nickel of my money." read more

Re: visit on Wed Sept 10 around 1130am. I'm usually not a "leave a review" type. If I'm pleased, I tell them to their face, in front of others when possible. If I'm displeased, I generally chalk it up to someone having a bad day or, if repeated consistently, I go elsewhere. (Praise should be public, criticism private). I unfortunately don't recall names, but it was pretty much everyone there from floor to register. I had just gotten new plates for my car... just came from DoL after 3rd time trying interstate title transfer. (I'll leave those details to your imagination...) I realized I needed a special tool in order to mount them. I came here because it's super close to work and they'd always been very helpful previously. It appeared a little bit of a reset was happening so things were little disorganized in some regard. Changing seasonal merch and all that fun.) but every one on the floor began to help look for what I needed, then get the different bolts to use and even replaced the bolts so I didn't have to purchase new tools (that I already have, just in storage and inaccessible at the moment). The level of helpful patience was beyond anything expected. Ever. I've worked in various customer service jobs my entire life. I know people can be exhausting. They spent a good 30+ minutes (of course taking turns helping others with the same friendly attitude when they came in) for ultimately a $6 sale. I've been to this Ace numerous times over the past decade or so and always a very good experience and excellent service. This time deserves a special shout out. Visited here recently. Was greeted and asked if I needed help finding something. I replied "yes" and the person directed me to the aisle a few feet away. I sensed someone very close behind me. It was the person helping along with a large dog on a rope. Not sure if this was personalized service or following me on a potential theft suspicion. (door had sign requiring leaving backpacks etc. at counter). I quickly found what I wanted, but I'm sure others would have freaked out if they don't like dogs close in their space. Maybe this was a result of a prior violent theft or scare. Who knows. Anyway, I like the place because of the knowledgeable, friendly staff. They have been helpful over the years, having all the things I need, especially hard-to-find items and bolts/fasteners. read more

Came here last Sunday and found the products and tools we needed to do some small patchwork around our apartment. Overall, great selection and variety of materials. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about their employees. I was asked if I needed help 4 times by one employee and each time I politely declined and said no. I also already had several products in my hand. After the 4th time, that same employee hollered "are you sure? You've been standing there for a while." Thanks for the public embarrassment in front of the entire store, instead of walking over to me like a decent human being. Also, when that employee came to the realization I was with my fiancé, he felt the need to publicly state that to the entire store. On what grounds do you guys think this is even remotely appropriate? I think your entire staff could use retraining if you consider public embarrassment and hollering at a customer "helpful". For the record, that same employee asked my fiancée and all of the other customers who happen to be all male (it's a very small store) if they needed help only once and left them alone. What makes my situation different ACE Hardware? Seems like your staff is pretty sexist. read more

I aways love going to Ace hardware stores because all of the miscellaneous part they have. It's like a grown-up toy store where I can play mad scientist with my projects. One member of the staff who has helped my wife and I on a number of occasions is Michael. He seemed really happy to help me with my projects which seems really rare these days. I've been coming to Mukilteo Ace Hardware for years but today was my last.. I called ahead for a bottle acid drain cleaner, so to save some time I thought I'd do some grocery shopping first at the next door Safeway (I walk), and then stop to pick up the acid. Usually customers are greeted in some friendly fashion but not today. The first thing I heard was "What's in the bag, pal?" I thought he was joking. I said "what" He repeated in a louder voice, "What's in the bag, PAL?" I told him it was my groceries and that I had just called ahead to for some drain acid. It was only then that he told me the store had a checked bag policy which left me leaving my groceries on the checkout counter open for anyone to take. I like supporting local business but I won't support one that treats it's customers like thieves. read more

I am old enough to remember Ernst Hardware and the Ace Hardware from when I was a kid, and this location reminds me of those places. There is fresh coffee when you walk in, and at least 3 knowledgeable folks to help you find whatever you need, as well as give you real troubleshooting advice. Chantelle, the manager is friendly and able to help other small businesses with an Ace Business Account! You may pay a little bit more, but you are paying not only for quality products, orgainzed and stocked shelves, quality return experience, and employee knowledge. Have you ever had an employee from Home Depot help you carry only 3 bags of mulch to your car? This store helps support local business, and certainly will be getting more from us! read more

Don't buy a car key fob replacement here. They ordered my key fob and said they would call when it arrived so that we could schedule an appointment to cut the key and program the fob. After two weeks I called to check on my order because nobody had called me. They told me to call back the next day because they didn't know. So I called back the next day. They told me again to call back the next day. Instead of calling the next day I decided to go to in person. When I arrived at the store nobody could find my paperwork for my order. Nobody knew if my key fob was delivered. I waited about 30 minutes while they searched for my key. They told me to come back later. So I came back the next weekend. Again, nobody knew anything about my order. Eventually, someone found my new key fob underneath a disposable aluminum pan full of food. No paperwork attached. I asked if someone could cut the key and program my fob. They told me to come back later that afternoon at 4pm. So I did. When I returned, nobody was available to assist me. They said they would call to schedule an appointment. Nobody called. The next weekend I went back to the store. I asked if anybody was available to cut and program my key. They misplaced my key again but eventually found it about 15 mins later. I asked them if they could finally cut and program my key. Well, they literally cut my key in half and completely ruined it. As it turns out, the guy who tried to cut my key had never cut a key like mine before. He admitted he had no clue what he was doing and that he just guessed about how to cut the key. I requested a refund. As it turns out, nobody knew how to process a refund and it took another 30 minutes for them to process my refund. read more

Friendly staff. Easy to get to location. Nice-enough looking store. But of the about 8 times I've been there, they only had what I needed ONCE. And that was only cause I called ahead of time to check. THE STORE IS TOO SMALL TO BE A GENERIC HARDWARE STORE. I mean, Martin Lumber is small, but carries specialty items for renovating older homes. Without a specialty, this small strip-mall Ace is just a tease. I got a huge discount coupon from them like 1-2 months back. Didn't use it. For me, it wasn't worth a drive to find they don't carry what in specific or in general that I need. read more

The staff is always helpful, always positive and is keen on asking what you doing with the materials you are buying, which to me is good so they can fill in blanks i might have missed. Stopped in to get some plumbing fixtures for an unexpected project. Super friendly staff, helped me find exactly what I was looking for. The store seemed to have a great variety of just about everything you'd need for a quick project. I plan to come here before heading all the way to Everett or Mill Creek to search big blue and big orange. Ace Hardware may not be the cheapest but if you want service this is where it's at. I think service over rides price and Ace has everything you need for your needs. The staff is excellent and they know their stuff. Parking is ample because it's really hard to get there but with a few U turns you are there. Go Ace! read more

ALWAYS GO TO ACE BEFORE GOING ANYWHERE ELSE!! I was unclogging my bathroom drain and a small part fell into a crack under the counter out of reach. I tried all the big home improvement stores and I was forced to buy an entire replacement drain for $35 to get the small part I needed. Even the plumbing specialist store I called said I wouldn't be able to get that part. Just in case, I stopped by ACE on the way home. ACE had an ACE branded repair kit for $7 with repair parts for two different drain options in it. Worked beautifully. This store was closer to my house than any others. I never seem to learn, go to ACE first. They really cater best to the do it yourself home owner. read more

I really appreciate having a compact, unintimidating variety store nearby. There are so many reasons to go to our local ACE, not least the super friendly employees. I bought the wrong size part on my previous visit, and they took it back (with receipt), no questions asked. And on the way in I found the best assortment of lupine plants! They are so healthy, and in several colors, reasonably priced at $3.95 each. It always amazes me the wide variety of merchandise they stock, and every employee knows the stock. read more

Thank God! I love having a good, close by alternative to Home Depot. It is great to be able to go in and get a box of nails without having to spend a half hour finding them and going through the line. They also have some great sales. I got some flower bulbs a few months back for half off and did a great springtime spread for under $40. The folks there are very helpful and the Whidbey Coffee stand in the parking lot is a great incentive! read more

I don't frequent hardware stores often but this Ace hardware blew me away! I came in to get paint and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Literally I barely entered before someone was there ready to help with genuine insight and information. They were professional, friendly and seemed to be willing to go above and beyond. They even asked if they could help me load the car even though I only had one bag and a few paint cans. Their prices may not be the lowest (although we did price compare paint and it was the same or lower than Home Depot and Lowe's) but I'd go back just to support businesses that take customer service seriously! read more

Umm I shop at Ace hardware in Everett off Evergreen and the store in Tacoma off 6th ave. I Love Ace hardware! I will never go back to this location again. I was in a bad spot needing something and I was 3 blocks from this store. Next time I will drive to Everett and skip going thru the pain of being treated like a second class citizen. Came here once to buy an extension for my ratchet tool. They had exactly what I needed. The store is fairly new and clean. The staff there is nice and I enjoyed the overall experience shopping there. It is a bit tough to get back on the speedway there's cars coming at you hot. read more

Not really loving it any more. I live close and like to deal with local merchants when possible. That said, in the past I've dealt mostly with 1 or 2 of the men who have some years on them. They know exactly what I'm talking about and what I need for whatever the project/issue is. The last 2 times I've been to the store (twice in the past week) the store has been staff with, how should I say, less "experienced" personnel, one of whom was sure a product would do the job because "that's a good brand". Please...bring back the guys who know what they're talking about. Shouting "welcome in" to somebody when they walk in the store does NOT equate to excellent customer service. When it comes to fittings, nuts, and bolts ace is king hands down. I often find myself dragged into my friends projects and since he lives close to this location we often find ourselves here more than we would like. This ace is pretty standard... They do have a garden center which is nice because I've seen some aces without them. The staff here are pretty great! They always help us find proper fittings or proper grade bolts since often times we find improper grade bolts used and that is not safe at all. This ace has a 1.50$ bin so when I was bored looking around I ended up finding a few jumbo spray bottles and some detailing stuff for dirt cheap so I was happy about that! I wouldn't rate 5 out of 5 stars because if you're shopping at Ace Hardware for anything other than fittings or nuts&bolts, I find the prices to be pretty inflated compared to Home Depot or lowes. Still though, thanks to our neighborhood Ace we were able to get my friends car up and running again within a day. read more

They were decent up until today.. unfortunately they do not care about their loyal customers. My husband always preferred going to them even though their prices were significantly higher than other comparable stores and their selection lacking a vast variety because he wanted to support the local business. He overbought extra Xmas lights this year.. and with the holiday rush/chaos, he never got around to returning them.. however, he kept the receipt and the receipt STATES 90 day return policy. We were definitely NOT beyond 90 days.. but they refused to take them back. They were NEVER USED or OPENED.. he just overbought and they got shoved to the back of the closet and as we were putting away stuff, we discovered we didn't need them. They were NOT a final sale item.. just a regular holiday item that was within the 90 day policy, yet the people there refused to take them back because they were a "seasonal item." The receipt STATED IN PLAIN INK: 90 day returns accepted.. apparently the MUKILTEO store just don't care about the hundreds of dollars we spend there on the yearly. Sad to say it, but they really don't care about their loyal customers who try to support the local small businesses. Going to Costco and other stores that live up to their stated return policy on the receipt instead from now on. read more

They will escort you to the right aisle and help you find what you are looking for. The employees are knowledgeable, friendly and happy to help you. I love having a local hardware store where I can swing by and pick up things without driving out to HD or Lowes. My biggest gripe, although it really pretty much pertains to me, is that they are almost overly helpful. It's as if they treat everyone like an idiot. When you take one step in the door, you are immediately greeted by two to three people asking what you need. Sometimes after I grab what I need, I like to browse around. This leads to being asked a few more times if they can help me find something. Perhaps they have too many people working and they have to be busy not standing around? Again, their eager customer service is notable, but is a little annoying. It's probably just me though. Just my 2 cents. read more

I really feel compelled to support local businesses. One of those is my local hardware store. Ace does a great job of having knowledgeable staff present. They don't know everything of course, but you can bet if you ask a sales person at Ace a question they will give you an informed answer, much better than you get at the massive hardware warehouses. While Ace doesn't carry the quantity and all of the selection options that the bigger stores offer, what they do offer is good quality, well organized and properly labeled. And, they are happy to order you whatever you need and have it available within a couple of days or tell you which nearby Ace store does have what you're looking for. All together this is called effective service, something Ace is good at and the big warehouse hardware stores generally aren't. Ace is my first choice for hardware and home repair supplies. read more

I work in the area, so stopped by one day after work as I needed a light bulb and always try to go local if I can. By the time I got home, it would have been too late to go to the local store near my house. I'm so glad I did as I have now found the place to go when I need something during the week. I stopped there a second time and received exactly the same exemplary service. My praise is actually for the same thing another commenter found annoying, and I can see their point, but I really like the effort they put into making sure you have all the help you need. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the cashier and asked what you need. They tell you which aisle your product is in, and then immediately put out a walkie talkie call for someone to come to your aisle. I just needed a light bulb and had the burned bulb in my hand, so I really didn't need help, but it really was a refreshing change to a "I think it might be in aisle nn" and then you have to spend the time looking for it yourself. In a different aisle. The second time I was looking for stair tread, which is sold by the foot, so the gentlemen that came over brought a pair of scissors and asked me a few questions to determine how much I needed (how many stairs, how wide are they - gave me some good advice that tread did not need to go to edges), and measured it out and cut it for me. Yes, it was pretty simple help, but it really did get me out of there very quickly, which was appreciated after a long work day. Really top notch customer service, and look forward to the next time I need something during the week. read more
