We have been with Acme since we built our house in 1967. They were a wonderful company. Since…read moreselling out to Blue Star, things have changed however. Billing system is awkward and although we are on autofill, we have run out of propane three times, twice within a month! When I called the office the first time, they wouldn't believe me that the tanks were empty until I sent them photos of the gauges. I was told that the young delivery man "couldn't find" our house although it is clearly marked so he just skipped us twice and didn't say anything to anyone apparently. Running dry necessitated a service visit from the furnace co., an extra charge. We will now have another cold night and no cooking as our range also runs on propane. I've had it!

I must change my rating of this business after selling out to Blue Star Propane. Once a reliable…read morebusiness, Acme sold to Blue Star Propane who is not locally owned or operated. They implemented changes right before this last cold snap (December 2021) and both delivery and billing were delayed. I watched my propane drop to below 10% and was not able to heat my house above 60 degrees while temperatures were just above freezing outside. When the 276$ bill came there was no way to pay it. They had not successfully set up the payment system. The bill has nasty warnings about finance charges if late, so I was concerned. Acme's discount if paying early was removed. Acme told me to wait until I received a paper bill in the mail and then pay it, so I did. I paid it directly over the phone. And cancelled our account, switching to Peak Propane. However, Blue Star continued to bill me, this time adding those finance charges. I received a second bill with finance charges two days after paying the bill over the phone. Clearly Blue Star is not at the level Acme was and I would not recommend this company. I was recommended by a propane servicing company to try Peak Propane, a locally owned company.

PacWest Propane - 3 feet of snow overnight ..

PacWest was GREAT. They were "forced/priced" to "retire". Suburban Propane's 1st story was PW 'went…read moreout of business' & SP had 'taken over' all PW customers. Their refill quote in February was triple the price of propane at gas stations, due to my 'low consumption'. I told them to pound sand and make an appointment with me for tank removal. They sent several tank rental fee letters with past due charges; with no proof of ownership, no past, current or new contract, nothing but a bill; 5 red flags. I called again to refute the charge & they said tank removal would cost me $150; 50% more than a year of rent conveniently. I should send them a past due STORAGE fee. This is America and I will choose who provides my services. They did not acknowledge my first conversation, their story NOW was PW owner "retired"; red flag! Past due charges after I refuse any business with them and tell them to retrieve the tank! SP does not own that contract u had with PW. Shop around. Buy a 60 gallon tank or two and fill at a station. Have a handyman assist. SP's practices will have you paying 2 to 3 times or EVEN MORE than necessary. They downplayed all their negative reviews; red flag! THIS IS AMERICA & unfortunately capitalism can mean the big invisible corporation will force the 5 star local businesses out & jack prices up each time they gobble up another. Self Protection is what SP should stand for; BUYER BEWARE. Thank goodness for YELP! I was lucky to have read up on SP. The sound of my head popping out of nowhere land was LOUD. Do not say yes, do not sign, do accept propane, do not pay for rental or removal I to a company you did not contract with. Ask them to remove your info from your records. Record your phone calls with them, at least take very good notes. Happy & Safe 4th to all; FREEDOM!

They also installed a wi-fi receptor to inform me and the company when my tank gets to 20% and someone automatically comes out to refill. couldn't ask for better/easier servicing.

AmeriGas - Huge deep tire treads and dead grass from Amerigas truck

Avoid AmeriGas at ALL costs. The worst support call center I've ever dealt with. They are obviously…read moreoutsourced over seas and probably a huge disconnect from other departments that actually need to clear up your issues, say, with billing. It's been 2 months and numerous calls later and I'm still trying to clear up a delivery that was never made. I know this because they texted they were coming and never did (I work from home) and there was no door hang receipt. No Amerigas, our gauge is not broken. All you have to do is compare our delivery history to see that when we are at 20% with a 500 gallon tank, our fill to capacity is never 79 gallons. Our tank dropped below 20% and this is right before the holidays. I trusted them to come out to do a smaller fill of 100 gallons in the interim, which was delivered and a door receipt received. I paid for that. The call center will tell you what you want to hear and not resolve a damn thing, give you unrealistic resolution timeframes, say they'll call back with an update and then don't, send you to overdue stubs, and now I'm on hold for a resolution supervisor and I'm at 38 minutes. And Amerigas charges more than other propane companies per gallon. Peninsula Propane is fantastic!!

First off they charge my dad $9.99 to call and order propane. The driver wouldn't take a payment…read moreso then they charged $2.99 to send him a bill in the mail. When we called they said you have to cerate an account so you can order and pay that way. Well my 85 year old father doesn't have a computer or good internet at his home. So I tried to create an account for him at my house and there system wouldn't take his address or the account number they listed on the bill? Then I called to pay over the automated phone system and it charged him $13.99 to use his credit card. That's an extra $27.00 on top of fuel charges. Not only is that taking advantage of everyone it's definitely elder abuse. DON'T EVER USE AMERIGAS unless you want to be taken advantage of.
