The most delicious vegan carrot cake I've ever consumed was found at Kitchen Mouse Cafe. Moist, tender, perfectly spiced, and not too sweet. Adorable, convenient, great service, and overall lovely.

Kitchen Mouse is the best I've found yet for a big vegan and gluten-free menu in L.A. I order the the side of potatoes for the table (it's massive and you can pick your sauce) every time I go, and I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about the mac and cheese. The chilaquiles are fire too. You truly cannot go wrong no matter what you order. I always bring friends and fam here when they visit L.A., and I wish they had more locations! Prepare to wait in line for a while. It's a super popular spot. It's order-at-the-counter, but it can take a bit. There are lots of pastry items in the case, assorted canned and bottled drinks, fresh juices, mimosas. Make sure to also check out the bakery location around the corner from the restaurant for loaves of bread, pastries, etc. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

I've been coming for years and it's never been a bad experience. It's always a good time and good energy, environment. I don't know her name unfortunately but she's been taking my order for the last 6 weeks or so. Tall, cutie, always lovely and great energy and gets my long and specific order correct. Lastly the food is always a hit. Shout out to all staff for the service, experience, food.

Very cute atmosphere in the interior!

Really cute place and an all time classic for the Highland Park neighborhood. The vegan options are abundant despite it only being a vegetarian place. My one hang up after coming here for the last 9 years is that the food can be a bit on the high sodium side and the prices are a bit steep for what you're getting. The value used to be there and allowed me to frequent the restaurant, but now it is more of a special occasion meal. I highly recommend checking out the moros cakes!

I accidentally spent 2 hours here lol because it was so peaceful and inviting. I've been here a couple times and both times had a great experience! I brought my puppy the first time and an employee hung out with me for a bit giving her lots of love which I thought was so sweet. It's like one of those darling little cafes that feel like home

A few weeks back my wife and I were walking around after checking out a book store when we ended up grabbing some lunch at the Kitchen Mouse Cafe. This place looks super charming, has a bunch of seating, and a pretty decent sized menu. I made the mistake of ordering the Buffalo Mac N' Cheese without reading any sort of the description and that's something I ended up regretting. I've had a whole lot of vegan Mac N' Cheese in my life, but this one consisted of brown rice macaroni, cashew cheese sauce, yams, collard greens, buffalo sauce, and dill cashew cream. Now, I take full responsibility for not reading the description but I still don't know why it wasn't just Buffalo Mac N' Cheese without a bunch of other crap thrown in. The Macaroni itself was solid enough, but the dish wasn't very enjoyable thanks to the other things that were thrown in there. Overall, I was left disappointed and probably won't be seeking this place out in the future. If you are looking for a vegan spot, the staff here was super friendly and the environment was great, so hopefully you have a better experience than me.

Place is super cute, with a really nice lime green interior. Plenty of space to sit during a weekday morning. I had the huevos rancheros with tofu scramble instead of egg. It was delicious, the amount of sauce was perfect, and the corn tortillas were really amazing.

Loved everything about this cafe! My sister and her dog Brax a regulars here, and she's been telling me I had to try it! The shop is adorable, there's plenty of seating, and they're dog-friendly! They have fresh flowers on each table and lots of plants! My kind of vibe. I got the huevos rancheros, which were DELICIOUS! 10/10! Each bite was perfect, and I cleaned the whole plate! My sister got the Burger Bowl Salad, which she says is her go-to! Both dishes were beautifully plated! I didn't get anything to drink, but there was a complimentary water station in the back (clutch!) I'd definitely come back here! Great vibes, delicious food, and socially buzzing! I regret that I didn't try their coffee, but that just means I have to come back! Totally Recommend!

My friend is a vegetarian, so we went to a restaurant in Highland Park for dinner during Restaurant Week, which was $45 per person. The menu looked great, so we decided to give it a try. They specifically mentioned that we didn't have to order from the Restaurant Week menu, which allowed us to try a variety of other dishes. The food was excellent, and their unique sauces made the vegetarian dishes even more flavorful. It felt healthy without being overly vegan. Overall, it was a great experience. We loved the reasonable prices, the cozy atmosphere, and the fact that the restaurant is only open on Fridays and Saturdays until 9 p.m., and closes at 4 p.m. the rest of the week. They also offer a happy hour, though parking nearby can be a bit tricky. Overall, it's a great spot for vegetarians.

Smashed Potatoes (I highly recommend the fresh dill sauce)
    Jay S.

What a phenomenal spot! I came here with a friend after the LA Marathon and this place really delivered across the board! The Buffalo bowl was my favorite, but the smashed potatoes with the fresh dill sauce were also amazing as a side. The salted chocolate chip cookie was such a delight too, I would love to check out their bakery that's down the street another time now. The service was very friendly and fast and the ambiance was delightful as well. Here's everything I tried: 5/5 - Buffalo Bowl: super flavorful buffalo sauce with a blend of beans, rice, yams, collard greens, and a drizzle of their dill sauce (I think?). Definitely feeling and also very tasty! 5/5 - Smashed Potatoes: think country potatoes but somehow a little bit better and softer. It comes with your choice of one of their homemade sauces, I went with the recommendation for their Dill and had no regrets at all, it was my favorite sauce by far! 4.5/5 - Lemon Blueberry Pancakes: A very delightful pancake dish with a lemon whipped cream and blueberry pancakes. The blueberries were very fresh and the lemon cream was subtle, but a delight. It would have been nice to have some sort of syrup or compote, because it did feel a little dry, but overall still very tasty! 5/5 - Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie: A delicious & giant sea salt chocolate chip cookie. If you want a sweet treat or you like cookies, this is a must try! 4/5 - Mini Cornbread Muffin: A fun little complimentary bite sized item. This felt very fresh and it pairs well with their coffee while you wait for your food, I only wish it was bigger haha. Food: 4.75/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4.25/5 Value: 4.5/5 Overall: 4.5/5

Came here to meet with a local friend since I was in LA for the day. I didn't realize that Kitchen Mouse had a larger restaurant front in addition to a bakery, and I found myself at the bakery first since that's where my Lyft driver dropped me off. I ended up getting a matcha latte with oat milk and a rosemary bagel with herb spread made with cashew. I was able to take everything next door to their larger restaurant, and my friend and I were able to find seating outside that accommodated her dog as well! My bagel tasted nice when warmed up and toasty! And I don't think anyone would be able to guess the cream "cheese" spread being vegan! If I had known about the restaurant side being separate, I definitely would have checked out their menu first!

Love this place so much. What more could you want. It's so freaking cute. Ordered for pickup & got the breakfast sandwich with just egg and the snickerdoodle pancake. Both were sooo goood. They forgot our side of egg and gave us a pastry to make up for it!!!! Servers were so nice!!!

Dandelion latte in the back and cold brew in the front.

Another host at the desk called me by name, which he knew from my reservation, and sternly told me I shouldn't have hung up the phone because someone who called in just got disconnected. I explained to him what just happened, assuming he just hadn't seen it, but his irritation was unassuaged. I don't appreciate being treated so disrespectfully. I could sympathize with his concern for other patrons calling in, but he should recognize my intention. And realize their setup is bound to cause problems like this, especially when the entranceway is crowded. The food tasted good, but it would be better cooked with olive oil.
