I enjoyed a small strawberry cookie while I dined in and it was delish. Ambiance is great, lots of nice music . Parking is awful, it was a challenge to find a spot a couple of blocks away. We had the mushroom sandwich and a breakfast sandwich. Both were good. The breakfast sandwich came out several minutes after the mushroom sandwich which I find a little irritating. Also they were out of bread at noon. I heard that you have to early to make sure they still had bread but it seems odd when they run out at noon when they are open to 3. Out of all the many coffee shops on the block, this is my absolute favorite place! Best food and the sweetest, most personable staff that are always so mindful and kind! But I'm truly so sad that they stopped carrying their decaf coffee a few weeks ago. I have an aversion to caffeine and their decaf coffee is the only one I've ever tried that doesn't make me feel weird and it tastes so good! Whats amazing about this bakery is that they have an entire case of fresh baked vegan and gluten free pastries and treats. Its hard to find baked good that are both gf and vegan (iykyk). What I truly appreciate are the specialty options , its not just cookies and cake, but rice crispness, raspberry marscapone tarts and cranberry orange glaze scones. I've never gone to bakery for treats that were both gf and vegan where I had too any options to choose from. I wa alike a kid in a candy store and had to seriously assess and narrow done my selection. The staff is also lovely. This was my first time stopping by this bakery! Truly life change delicious coffee cake I highly suggest you trying. I was bummed the barista said their espresso machine was still broken. I hadn't seen any posts about it or anything and drove 40 mins to try some new goodies from this place but I still grabbed some drip coffee and it was really good too. Came here for a quick bite and coffee. I got the cashew spread on an everything bagel and some coffee. I thought everything was decent. I would come back again if I was in the area. Overall is a 7/10. The spread was the consistency and taste of a tzatziki sauce, strong yogurt and dill flavors. You can find soups like ginger garbanzo soup, or meals like fusilli pasta.. dessert-like pudding, freshly squeezed drinks, and etc. On one hand, it felt like Erewhon with desserts galore, and on the other hand, like a healthy, gourmet Panera. Needless to say, almost all the ingredients were "clean" and fresh! Picked up their vegan jalapeño nacho cheese ($11) & pressed grapefruit juice ($9) for movie night. If you're familiar with Kitchen Mouse, you'll see a lot of the same items you used to find around the corner but moved to this new, bigger space. Most of their baked goods are vegan and gluten-free. And they actually taste good! Love their millet bread. Choose from cookies, cupcakes, bagels, foccacia, baguettes, croissants, monkey bread, muffins, and more. A few items had gluten. In addition to baked goods, they have a full espresso bar, soups, and grab & go prepared entrees and salads like mac & cheese, lasagna, and risotto. You can also pick up cute greeting cards and small gifts like enamelware mugs and bowls, candles, etc. * Mini vanilla cupcake ($2.75): A two-biter, the cake part tasted as good as a regular gluten cupcake. The frosting was pretty sweet and there was too much of it. * Lemon poppyseed mini cookie ($2): Dense, moist, chewy with lots going on - coconut, nuts, poppyseeds. Reminded me of a lemon poppyseed muffin only it tasted healthier. * Plain bagel ($3): If these are gluten-free, they're the best gf bagels I've tried. They were soft and when toasted, had a nice crisp exterior and chewiness. Oh, I found out they're not gluten-free. The signs could be clearer about what's vegan and gluten-free and what's not. I used to think everything they offered was gluten-free, so I was surprised to see some baked goods made with gluten. It seems like only the items with gluten are labeled - should we assume everything else is gluten-free and vegan? Update: One case has gluten-free items and the other case has items with gluten. I can't get enough of this place. Service: They have a really friendly staff. My father left his wallet there and they went out of their way to track him down to return it. Food: I love their baked goods and a few of their sandwiches too. Ambiance: the space is cute and they're always chill about me bringing my dog in too. I got a "coffee cake." It tastes like a brown something, maybe cupcake. It's definitely not the traditional yellow cake with ribbon of cinnamon, and streusel. It was just brown and slightly chalky. This shop was built out by another business that closed some time ago and boy/girl does it have good bones. Think white, marble, stainless steel, heavy door, high ceiling and airy and clean. The service is great: friendly and knowledgeable., which is KM/Topo calling card. They have great bagels and all the vegan and gluten free bakery options one could want plus coffee, of course (and they do carry dairy creamers), and little gifts and card and such and refrigerated items for carry out like soups and casseroles like at TOPO. All good, all just pricey enough to hurt a lil. Nice seating area next to giant window frontage. Prices: what you'd expect. A little more than Sbux. Parking. Street is usually available on Fig (metered). If not there is public lot with access right across 59th. Bring quarters. read more

I like the food here but I would say the downfall is staff trying to skimp out on ingredients but still charge the same amount for it. For example, we ordered one of the vegan breakfast sandwich things in the focaccia bread. We got in, picked up our order and they'd just used regular toast. That's not what we ordered but ok. I asked the person working behind the counter and she said it's because they were out of the focaccia and the toast is the only other gluten free option. We're not even gluten free, she just assumed that. The correct thing to do would've been to amend the Uber eats order and to let us know upon pick up, as well as to adjust the price to reflect the change in ingredients! Their coffee and little baked goods are awesome too and when I told my coworker I live close to them she begged me to get some of their fridge goods for her -- she was about to drive there from Orange County that's how good it is. Bright, clean space with fun accents, but food could have been better. I'm not vegan, but I cook occasional vegan and vegetarian meals for my family and I'm happy to eat anything that tastes good. As my vegan friend and I walked up, a person eating at a table on the sidewalk had a cute dog, so we chatted for a moment. We asked them about the food, and they indicated their dish, a sausage-type exercise, and said it wasn't very good and that we shouldn't order it. We shrugged and went in anyway. Staff were nice. I ordered the Reuben, and was surprised to see it was half the size of a normal sandwich (not indicated on the menu). As a standalone piece of food, it tasted Ok, but if I hadn't been told it was intended to be a Reuben, I'd never have guessed. It was simply Ok, but not really "good". Not savory, and the protein neither looked nor tasted anything like sliced corned beef or swiss cheese. It looked like longwise slices of something aggregated into a hash brown-like texture, in a foam of cashew milk (?). The bread was a rectangle of whole seeds seemingly pressed together, and it tasted like eating whole seeds (and seeds taste nice, but nothing like Rye bread). My salad had an unusual floral (?)/herbal note incorporated that was a bit offputting, and my lunch mate noted a similar floral taste in her tacos. The accompaniment to her tacos was a very small ramekin of some sort of chunky tomato soup (?) with a layer of green sauce on top. She didn't seem to be enjoying the meal, and was offput by the floral spice in her tacos, but it wasn't inedible and she finished it. This is my take, and this is not intended as an insult, but just what occurred to me: this food was probably made by someone who has not eaten a traditional non-vegan Reuben or non-vegan taco in many, many years. If ever. They are probably working off a very old memory of those dishes, if they've ever had them at all. I think, if you don't (or can't) duplicate the taste/texture of a non-vegan food item, then why use the names of those items? Just call it your "textured vegetable protein and cashew foam on half-size squares of pressed nuts, with pickled cabbage". I think this place is for people who are lifelong, hardcore vegans who probably don't need their food mislabeled as things like Reubens and tacos. And mislabeling is not going to win over non-vegans like me, whose palates are not desensitized to the blandness and strange notes that I experienced in this meal. read more

When I asked for a refund they said I had to wait for their manager and we're super rude about it. Not even sure i got the refund but had to go. No offer to make it up in any way. Came in Sunday morning and it was nice and quiet. Cody at the register greeted me and provided an overview of all the treats they offer and explained everything is vegan and gluten-free options available. I ordered the Tomato Soup Bowl, Oatmilk Latte and Plain Croissant. The soup was full of flavor and I took my time savoring every last bit while I read my book. The Oatmilk Latte was perfect to dunk my Croissant in and it was the perfect pairing. I definitely see myself returning and I look forward to trying all the soups and treats. Yum! read more

After having been to the sister Kitchen Mouse Cafe, we decided to try this place recently for the first time. We can recommend the miso walnut lentil pate "Bahn Mi" sandwich, but they no longer serve it on a baguette, so we had it with a bagel. The pate was yummy, especially with the pickled vegetable, though personally, I wouldn't call it a Bahn Mi without a baguette. I recently got the gf vegan Jo's breakfast sandwich in the cafe and it was so delicious I came back to try more items. Know your establishment. I recently discovered the bakery with my mom. Never been a big fan of the main restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the baked goods and coffee were. More than that the service is excellent. Each employee was kind to myself and my mother who is an annoying baby boomer who asks a million questions but then just orders a regular old person cup of coffee. I mistakingly thought the delicious ginger soup came with a piece of bread, asked when it was brought to my table, was told it did not, but then the girl working there brought me one on the house. I brought my dad in this morning he got the vegan breakfast sandwich and loved it. He is not vegan. I truly believe this is the best vegan bakery in LA. The cafe on Figueroa is a good spot, but the bakery really is the star. The sweets are always delicious and unique, but they also have an impressive selection of savory items, sandwiches, soups, and other delights. It's fantastic.
