I got a pub burger and he got a smash burger. My burger was soggy with "beer cheese" and turned to mush in my hands. His smash patties were thick, in a "not a smash burger at all" way. Absolutely recommend this eatery on the Virgin hotel. It's close to an American dinner and has put a spin on all they serve. We had the chicken noodle soup. That was a it boring not bad but also not something special tbh and most surprisingly just a regular cracker on the side. Well it is what it is. But then the perfectly cooked fish n chips came. Flaky white fish and a delicious breading instantly put us back to london or Manchester in UK where we have been a few weeks before. The chips as well have been tasty and crispy (without the "trick" of being covered in cornstarch). I'll had a turkey club that came on a turmeric bread. So good. American way with to much meat for my taste but overall so good. Again with perfectly crisp chips/ fries. And then a classic Creme brûlée with a surprise sidekick a soooooooooooooo delicious cookie lollipop (yes not a cake pop!) and the Lilli was filled with Creme and caramel - I would have bought the cookies in a bag. I decide on the nights special which was a slab of Baby Back Ribs (well under $20) and a bottle of Hoegaarden, the original Belgium Wheat Beer, since 1445! The beer $9, and though it's bottled, it's uncommon to find at restaurants. After a short wait. My platter of Baby Back Ribs with the sides is sitting in front of me like a King. This was no time for me to be lady like as I dug in... ohh my! I rarely eat red meats nowadays, so I admit it was a nice treat as I attacked those succulent ribs! Of course my enjoyment probably took me down a notch with my Vegan friends lol. Oh well, I'll convert one day, just not yet *sigh*. The Hoegaarden Beer was a perfect pairing for that King Henry the VIII din! In the end, I'd recommend The Kitchen at Commons Club for anyone looking for a hearty meal. Upon arrival the hostess let us know that they were on a limited menu. We were looking forward to trying to chicken and waffles :(. The limited menu still had quite a few options. My daughter opted for the breakfast platter, my son got the chicken tenders and fries (great portion size) and I opted for the Cesar salad which was also a good sized portion. I wasn't provided a drink menu so I'm not sure if they have a bar/alcohol/specialty cocktails. Overall it was a great experience. The food is definitely pricey. We declined and checked out the menu, finding it was really just luck that we passed this way on a Friday, and that was Baby Back Rib Night - Every Friday. Checking out the menu, virtually everything else was way more expensive, so we both settled on what we went in for, and we each ordered a full rack of the Baby Back Ribs. Our server, Josh, was extremely friendly and accommodating as we asked if we could substitute the Cole slaw that came with the meal for French Fries, and they said certainly. This is the only sit-down breakfast place during our May 2021 visit while staying at the Virgin Hotel. At check in, they asked for our room number which was unusual. Menu (see picture) - I ordered the $19 build your own omelette which was ok. The toasts were cold. Hubby got the $17 Virgin breakfast. He was expecting a ham steak but got deli sliced ham instead. I wanted the Vitamin C Detox smoothie but they only had the Lemon Cheesecake available. Menu had English and Mexican options. Ambiance - the waitstaff was dressed in 60s Happy Days attire but the music was loud rock (Black Betty was blasting). My serving had 4 pieces of chicken - a mixture of breast and wing fried and pounded flat. Waffles could be a bit crispier, will ask to cook a little longer. And they have bacon in the waffles!! This place has the BEST fish & chips I have EVER had. I stayed as a guest at the hotel & ordered it twice in 3 days. Service is friendly enough, ambiance is tasteful. This is the Virgin version of a 24 hour diner you'd find in a regular hotel/casino but the decor makes it feel like you're not settling. Pricing is what you'd expect for a hotel restaurant- a bit expensive but I didn't mind paying for the convenience, really. Only downside is this place has the absolute worst corned beef hash I've ever had in my life. Rubbery cubes of magenta meat with borderline raw peppers and nondescript potatoes- under seasoned overall. It looked like play-food. If I wasn't hungover at the time & desperate for meat and carbs, I would've sent it back expeditiously. It was time for my biweekly brunch with my friend so we decided to try The Kitchen at Commons Club. Its located in the Virgin Hotel. We parked at the Harmon parking garage (parking is free). The cafe gives me 50s retro vibes based on the decor & the uniform shirts that the waiters & waitresses have. Very cute! They start you off with water & then take your order for drinks. I got a Vanilla Latte & my friend got a coffee (they also offer mimosas *must be 21 and over to drink). After my latte I also grabbed some coffee. It was delicious! If you read my other reviews, Coffee is priority when it comes to breakfast or brunch. Very satisfied with the coffee. My friend enjoyed the coffee as well. For food, I ordered the Waffle with a side of hash brown & a side of a bowl of fruit. My friends ordered a omelet that came with a side of toast & a side of hash browns. I loved my waffle. It was crispy on the outside & so soft on the inside just how I love my waffles. The hash brown was also crispy & my fruit tasted so fresh. My friends loved their omelets as well. We were all satisfied with our meal. Everyone there offered great customer service. This meant my cheesesteak got cold while I was eating my salad. So let's talk about the food. Side salad was typical except the cramped and half bag salad in a small bowl where I couldn't even mix the dressing around. I asked my server why do they do that she said "because it's a side salad" Smh. Ok the cheesesteak. I asked for extra cheese. The male cook gave it to me, but it would have been nice to let the cheese melt. Veggies in it were damn near raw and there was no flavor. Not worth $20. I was not impressed.
