I order the 1883 Burger with Impossible "Meat". AMAZING. I am not vegan but I enjoy the Impossible meat and it makes me feel healthier. My burger was great as were the fries. OF COURSE THEY HAVE KILLER RANCH TOO. The taste of the meal was immaculate. Not only that but as a first timer the waiter was very polite and thorough in explaining the menu. Kitchen 1883 is pretty decent. Fish and chips were good, their fries are steak and shake style. Wife had the Reuben which was disappointing. It ended up being 70% turkey and 30% corn beef. Waited 20 minutes for a table that had been empty since we arrived. Host & Hostess arguing with one another. Waitress was nice. Deviled eggs were great. Kids loved the mac and cheese dish. Chicken wrap was good and everyone liked the cole slaw. Fried cookie dough dessert was great but $2 for added spoonful of ice cream is kind of pricey. I would expect more. They've gotten lazy. The food used to be good when they opened. COVID or not, they should be aware of what they're sending out of the kitchen. As with most restaurants in the area, they appear to not even care since they have the built in COVID excuse. The menu is small enough that they should still be able to pull things off. I got crab cakes and the beef medallions. The crab cakes didn't taste bad, but I got two of them about the size of silver dollars for $16. The steak was offensive. Blackened doesn't mean burnt. Well this is a long overdue review. I've placed DoorDash and pick up orders several times from Kitchen 1883 and this will be the last time. Each time I think oh well this was just unusual but the our reality is the DoorDash and pick up experience has been very poor. Our orders are always missing an item or portion sizes are ridiculously small for the price. This has not been my experience when we eat in. Our eat in experience has been delightful. My family and I LOVE Kitchen 1883 in Anderson Towne Plaza. My husband and I dined in once before Covid, and the food was very good. Since the lockdown we have ordered take out every 2-3 weeks for our entire family. We have three teens and a preschooler, so we always have a pretty large order. The staff is so friendly and they package everything perfectly so things stay just as good as if we were eating in the restaurant. I highly recommend their chicken and waffles, pan seared salmon, roast pork, and my absolute favorite- caulisprouts. I don't like Brussels sprouts normally but these are beyond delicious. Im really looking forward to visiting the restaurant when it's open for dine in service. They have become a family favorite. read more

This was my first time. My wife and I went in around 6:00 PM. They were steady. The bar seats were full and there were about 4 open tables in the restaurant. My wife and I got seated right away. Our server took a while to greet the table, but come to find out he was training a new girl, all forgiven. We chose the 3-course Restaurant Week meal. The first course was a Burrata with pesto, roasted cherry tomatoes, goat cheese, and fresh French Bread Crostini w/ a Balsamic Honey Glaze. The second Course was a Kale + Quinoa Salad with Goat cheese and Almonds. I had the Chicken Picatta and my wife the Salmon. Our server Chris was great, his trainee--scared, but she will come out of her shell. I would recommend this place 10X over. I let the Kroger-owned tag scare me away. i've had good experiences but my last two were bad enough to make me never go back. first bad experience there was a staff meeting and nobody offered to take my order after i was seated, not even the manager that brought me a water. was ready to order for about 10 minutes when the kind masked gentleman helped me. i dont know who my server was that day because i was helped by at least 3 servers and not one introduced themselves as my server lol. next time i went in i stood for a couple minutes waiting to be seated and then sat down, just to wait another five minutes with nobody else in the lobby. i understand a little wait as i've worked in dine in restaurants but it was unacceptable. i saw managers bringing out food with my own eyes and not one offered to take my order or seat me. at that point i left and went to yummy bowl for cheaper higher quality food. food is mid, service is bad and they don't give a shit about customers. as someone who works in food i would never leave a review like this but for thirty bucks a meal i expect better. read more

Finally decided hubby and I would check this place out on a Sunday evening around 6. He ordered the Angus Burger, I ordered the grilled cheese and both of us chose the fries. He enjoyed the burger, I was disappointed in both the grilled cheese and the fries. The sandwich was limp and soggy due to the grilled tomato inside, and the fries were those annoying "skinny stick" fries a la Steak & Shake. I was off Thursday and decided to give this restaurant a try. We arrived at 11:15 am, and there were 4 people waiting to be seated. We were seated within 10 minutes, and sat in the bar area. Matthew was a wonderful server. The food was outstanding. The Pan seared salmon with cauli-sprouts was delicious as well as the 1883 salad with the house dressing. Ordered a burger cheese only to receive everything on it. I talked to one of the hostess who took it back to get remade. After remaking it the manager brought it to me i looked at it looked fine. Got home started eating bit into a completely raw burger. I called the manager who argued with me even after I told her I would text her the picture of the burger. She finally apologized for the bad experience then offered to send a gift card which was fine Since the rest of my families food was great. I had such high hopes for this place! We have enjoyed this restaurant in Union KY and found ourselves on Beechmont Rd tonight. The cauli-sprouts were delish as always! However, I tried to order the special flat bread without onions and was told they make them in advance and could not accommodate my request. Ok then. I tried to order the wrap with less spice and was told they cannot do that. Ok. I ordered some sides and went on with life. Our soft pretzels were definitely not soft. The beer cheese was not hot. My creamed spinach was flavorless. Finally, we tried to salvage the meal. We ordered the warm Chocolate chip cookies. They were NOT warm and possibly from chips a hoy. Had no idea about this place until I had a Grubhub order to pick it up. Tried it out and wow was it unreal. We got the chicken and waffles. Chicken was seasoned and tender. Breading was perfect. Salad delicious and Russian dressing that recommended by the employee on the phone was incredible..Cole slaw was some of the best I've ever had and seasoned unlike any Ive seen before.. waffles were fluffy and absolutely delicious...Lastly the chocolate chip cookies were big and warm even after eating dinner...this meal was a grand slam. Sat in the bar and it was extremely noisy and had no ambiance-orange tile walls behind bar and rest of walls were white tiles.
