Although it looks like one of those strip mall chain Chinese places that are so common, I don't think it is a chain. Ms T went for a half order of chicken and peapods. Andrew and I ordered full orders which were very large. He had one of the beef dishes and I had a spicy shredded pork dish. This is very mediocre Chinese. While it was not greasy and our servings were more than adequate, the food just is not well seasoned. To be honest, there was not much difference between the three whether beef, pork or chicken. When you see us all adding soy sauce to try to get a little flavor, you get the idea. The sauces were just bland. They have a huge, huge menu. I recall 120+ items. They need to reduce it to 20 max and work on distinguishing the sauces. read more

The all time worse! This woman just refuses to take a minute and listen to her customers. Each time I try to call her she rushes me off the phone so I've decided never to order from her anymore. The last time I ordered she totally botched my order. I specifically told her I wanted white rice only and crispy chicken.instead I get fried rice and mushy chicken. I go here from time to time. You can say it's the local Chinese Restaurant that I choose to go to instead of the few others also within a 3 mile radius from me. The food is good in comparison to the others. It is priced on the higher end. You can probably get more food for your money at Panda Express but if you're looking for the good old dependable, local Chinese food then you can't lose here. People are in and out and there are customers that dine in from time to time as well. So that's always a good sign. I would hope though that they increase the amount of shrimp in their 'Hot and Spicy Shrimp' and lower the price of their white rice. Other than that, I'm a regular and they definitely earn their 4/5 stars. read more

Ever since I moved to Naperville, I've been on the hunt for a decent Chinese food place. (China Star in Wheaton was my fave). I've tried a couple of different places, and none of them were very good. Then I found King's Wok, which is literally down the street from me, and gave it a shot. I love their chicken fried rice. There's just something about it. Last night I had the General Tso's Chicken, which was delicious. Slightly spicy, and plenty of glaze. Even the bf, who has a picky palate when it comes to Chinese, took some of my rice and chicken for himself. That right there speaks volumes. Their Egg Drop Soup was tasty, too; and I can be rather picky when it comes to the quality of Egg Drop Soup. I think this will be our go-to Chinese spot from now on. I've had a few different things from their menu and so far, all have lived up to expectations. Not to mention they are fast with your order, which is a plus. read more

Much better than anything we could find in Downers Grove or Westmont before we moved to this area in 2005. Kim's Wok, although small, seems perfectly clean to me. Open kitchen, just like many carry-out places, not a problem. Asian(s) who work there and wait on customers have a strong accent, but it lends to the authenticity of the place. I'm rating it FIVE stars based on the delicious meals they serve, rapidity of service, large selection and very reasonable prices. To the lady who wants to change fixed menu items all around - feel free go to any one of many of many over-priced, sit-down, have a long wait to be served, restaurants in Naperville!!! The restaurant looks very unassuming from outside. It's in a small strip mall, and at the time of writing this review, half of the lighted name sign wasn't working. Inside, it's very spartan, with a few simple tables and an open kitchen. But don't be fooled by the simplicity. Their food is the real deal! This is not your standard Chinese place that only serves sweet Americanized orange chicken type food. Food here packs some real flavors and heat. Their dinner combos are fantastic! This place is my go-to Chinese Takeout place. It's right in my neighborhood (I'm not Mr. Rogers by the way), and they can prepare the food in about 10-15 minutes. You really can't go wrong with the lunch specials for $4.95. If you get sick of that $5 foot long, then this place is definitely worth a try. I agree their menu is quite large, and some of the dishes there are kinda "Meh", but they really do have some tasty dishes as well. I think they could cut the menu down a tad and focus on their real flavorful and delicious dishes. If you end up ordering one of the blander dishes I can see why you might give this place low ratings. I think it is hit or miss, but I will tell you about some of the dishes that I think are mad grubbin'. The only appetizer that I can recommend is the Crab Ragoon. It has a goldfish shape, it's super crispy on the outside, and has a creamy "crabiness" taste to it on the inside. Their crab ragoon is pretty delish in my opinion. It comes with a little side dish of sweet and sour sauce that you can dip these bad boys in for a nice combination of flavor. I also recommend the House Pan Fried Noodles. On the bottom you have these very thin crunchy and in other places softer noodles in a soy sauce base. On top is pork, shrimp, broccoli, water chestnuts, baby corn, and thinly sliced carrots. This is really good stuff in my opinion. The wife thinks it's a little salty, but I'm a fan of this dish. The next menu item that is really good is their Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. You have this clear sauce with peas, carrots, and big ol' shrimps in this dish. I was surprised that the shrimp are as big as they are, and it comes with white rice which tastes pretty awesome if you mix it in with the lobster sauce. Another tasty menu item is the General Tso's Chicken. I believe this is the first dish that I ever ordered from there, and since then I have ordered this numerous times. The chicken has this sweet and spicy sauce. Even though it has hot peppers mixed in with the chicken, it's really not all that spicy. It has a little kick to it and I really like this dish. The last item that I recommend would be the Moo Shu Pork. It comes with a big portion of pork and various vegetables mixed in the dish. It also comes with hoisin sauce and five pancakes. I would advise to by an extra order of pancakes, because there is a lot of filling. I am not a real fan of eating this plain, but it's pure deliciousness if you wrap up this filing in the pancake like a burrito. Yum Yum... The restaurant size is pretty small with some tables for dining in, but I wouldn't recommend bringing the whole soccer team to eat there (Some would be eating on the floor due to lack of table space). One thing that is a little annoying is that you have to ask for the chopsticks when you pick up your order. Sometimes, I totally forget to request these, so it would be helpful if they ask the customer how many sets they need when they pick up their food, or just add them to the bag without the customer having to ask them for these utensils. They used to have them out in the open where you could just grab these, but now I believe they keep these under their cash register. read more

Hey, it's the standard "crappy American Chinese food." I have a soft spot for this sort of thing, but it's just not a particularly impressive rendition of that genre. As Jon T observes, their menu is excessively large and things tend to blend together badly. But he's right, large orders are large. You can easily get two meals from one of them, so the price works out to be pretty reasonable. I would comment that while the Chinese dishes themselves (I almost always gravitate towards something like Szechuan/Hunan beef/pork) aren't too greasy, their crab rangoon are...not good. Very greasy, flavorless filling, etc. I had a hankering for them, but this definitely did not satisfy. I'm not sure how much I'll be back - there are other generic Chinese joints around, and while none are quite so close to the house...it would be worth driving to find something else. read more

NOT for vegetarians or vegans. They advertise $4.25 for lunch specials but they don't have anything vegetarian and I was charged $1 extra for replacing meat with tofu. This is inconsistent as well. I wasn't charged anything a couple of times before. Once I was charged only $0.50 extra. i don't really care about the extra dollar but it is the principle. As a new resident to the area I'm currently looking for my soon to be favorite spots. King's Wok is only a short 5 minute drive and located across the street from where I do my normal grocery shopping so I thought I'd give it a try. Placed my order and was told it would only be a quick 10 minutes till I could pick it up. Awesome! Sadly though everything from this point on was disappointing about this place Ordered the sesame chicken which came with fried rice and an egg roll. Also got an order of Crab Rangoon. Portion sizes were average for what you paid. Think the two dinners I ordered plus the Crab Rangoon came out to slightly over $20. To keep things short and sweet this reminded me of your typical mall Chinese food. The kind of mall that is located in the middle of no where. The fried rice wasn't anything near impressive. Visually it really didn't look great and taste wise had a bland flavor. I know some places have a very greasy fried rice and though this rice wasn't greasy at all it really didn't have much flavor at all. I took one bite of my egg roll and decided that was enough. It left a bad taste in my mouth and honestly I've had better egg rolls from the freezer section.The sesame chicken itself was average in taste but very tiny pieces. The Crab Rangoon was also very tiny pieces and you either got nothing but filling or a fried crunch, no in between. I've had my fair share of Chinese food and this place most likely won't see me as a returning customer. I'm new to the area and decided to stop in last week, I placed my order and was about to pay when a person can from outside and began to cook my food. I asked the cashier if that person who just came from outside and didn't wash there hands was cooking my food? I truly wanted to love this place as it's literally 2 min from my house. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. We ordered pot stickers...they were mushy, but they were ok. My egg roll only had cabbage in it. My beef chop suey was mainly vegetables & very little beef. My husband had sesame chicken that he said was ok. I was also disappointed with portion sizes. Granted I've been spoiled by living near some amazing Chinese take out places in the past with incredible food & heaping servings...but King's wasn't even just average. Do not eat here! just ordered food from here for the first time and the last time. The egg roll tasted like a deep fried dirty sock. The combo fried rice (House Special) was gross. The shrimp was flat as if someone had stepped on it. The chicken was unrecognizable as it looked more like strips of chopped up worm. The barbecued pork was the hot pink kind and that right there screams "NASTY!" The lo mein was tasteless and the teriyaki beef sticks tasted like old meat. Based on the fact that the place was empty, it's quite possible they are using expired food because they don't sell enough to keep inventory fresh. A nice little quaint Chinese restaurant. What is different about these guys is that their fried rice may be the most non-greasy I've ever had. I think these guys steam their fried rice in some sort of seasoned broth which give out a deep flavor and yellow color and they just mix some meat and veggies in there. It is interesting. read more

Don't waste your time or money on this place. There are so many others in the area. I stopped in here tonight and placed an order, than ran accross the street to Jewel while they were making my food to pick up a few things. When I came back in to get my order, they looked at me, then opened the bag with my order and took it apart to give it to two other customers in line. Not ok! I ended up having to wait another 15 minutes while they frantically threw together my order again. The food - just gross. The food that was already ready was soggy and cold. The food they threw together was done poorly. And the real kicker... they forgot part of my order. I'll be using one of the other Chinese places in the area in the future. read more

What a HORRIBLE experience! To start it all off, the place was filthy. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. Then I was in line, then someone walked in after me and the rude woman behind the counter helped them before helping my party! Apparently wherever she is from they have no manners. Then I tried, and I say tried because we eventually left with nothing, to order the orange chicken combo. It's Orange Chicken with Chicken Fried Rice. Well, my kids don't like their foods combined so I asked the woman to please put the chicken on the SIDE of the fried rice, and not on top. She explained that she does not know how to do that! after a short back and forth trying to explain the difference between "on top" and "on the side" she did not understand so I decided to take my business somewhere else. I mean really, if she can't comprehend that, does she know that you need to cook chicken first? I doubt it. Given the filthy state this joint was in I definitely won't be back. Geez, I doubt I'll ever find a crummy Americanized Chinese Joint around here. LOL read more

Maybe I can see why they have only 3 stars now. This was a really good place with good service not so much anymore. We used to order from the 2-3 times per week, well no more! Last time we ordered a beef Lo-mein without veggies and it came with veggies. My daughter tried to eat but the ratio of veggies was ridiculous. We threw it in the trash. We didn't call because we were not going to go back for a new one. Today we were going to place an order and I mentioned the incident. They tell me they can't do anything not even a discount. I'm sorry but when you are dealing with a customer of YEARS you at least tried to make concessions. I was still talking and she hung up the phone when I told her I didn't want to ordered any more. I called again in the most polite way to tell them that's not how you treat a loyal customer. She cut me off and told "thanks for your business and hung up".
