So I met up with him and he gets 5 stars for being timely. The estimator began to COMPLAIN to me about the difficulty of the job and the manpower required to complete such a task. He exclaimed a minimum of 2 men are required and it will take all day! REALLY? His estimate to CLEAN the debris from the roof gutters (3 sides) came to $750! REALLY? Honest business here? I then asked him what it would cost to clean my next door neighbor's roof gutters so that I can capitalize of some economies of scale here. The estimator then lowered his price to $450/house. REALLY? To make a long story short, I went with a STATEN ISLAND guy that gave me quote over the phone after sending in my house pic and he quoted me $175/house!!!! Why are manual laborers like this so dishonest? Whatever happened to honest day's work? Whatever happened to one's honesty? So much for religion, diversity, equity and inclusion?!?!?!? A1 Gutter and Roofing in Garfield, NJ is no exception. So too have we heard and, perhaps, experienced some dishonesty among this lot. So it is significant when one discovers a contractor who is legit, trustworthy, and highly professional. Having to replace an entire roof including structural repairs of its wooden beams, new insulation, and re-bricking of the upper portion of the chimney was a major undertaking. The entire project took two weeks. It's impossible to describe just how well this job was accomplished. Picture may do it some justice. Overall, this customer is pleased beyond measure. Bill and his crews did a great job of fixing the roof leak! It hasn't been leaking so far after the fix on 12/6/2021. Although they are not the cheapest among the vendors offering to fix the roof, they were very responsive, offered a great quality of work and a 10 years warranty! While all the other contractors I talked to needed at least 2 - 4 weeks before actually fixing it, Bill did the inspection himself and was able to schedule the work in about 3-4 days! His crews, Mario and another man who can't speak much English took just 1 day to install the new valley membrane and finish all the patching. And they cleaned up all the garbage promptly. There were only 2 things I was a little bit concerned about, which Bill promptly and patiently answered. (1) It's a bit cloudy/rainy on 12/6, so I was worried that might affect their work and was wondering if Bill wanted to reschedule. But Bill, based on his experience, assured me that they would be able to finish the work before the rain, and it shouldn't have any impact. (2) It's stated on the contract that the valley roofing material will be "new Firestone roofing with black mineral surface", but eventually what's installed is "Firestone SBS White". Bill explained that the white one would be a better fit because a silver coating is needed for the black one, and with Firestone SBS White, the silver coating is not needed. I am really glad and appreciate that Bill took the time to patiently and promptly address my concerns, and explained everything thoroughly to me! And he is very flexible with the payment methods as well! Overall, Bill and his teams did an awesome job! Thank you very much for the hard work! And I will post an update in 3 months - 1 year if anyone is interested!

The owner compared removing only the wet sections with replacing the complete roof. Because the existing modified-bitumen system was heavily patched and approaching the end of its service life, full replacement was selected. NY Roofing removed the old roof to the deck, deteriorated material around the hatch was replaced, and tapered insulation was added to improve movement toward the rear drain. A new two-ply modified-bitumen system was installed with fresh wall flashing and metal edges. Materials were lifted from the street during a restricted delivery window, while the neighboring roof and occupied rooms below received additional protection. The finished surface had a consistent slope instead of the shallow depressions that had formed around earlier patches. Following several rainstorms and one freeze-thaw cycle, the bedroom ceiling remained unchanged.
