White Star renovated my Brooklyn bathroom. Vadim was very professional and responsive from start to finish. He came the same day I called to give me a quote. His projected start date and end date were accurate. They kept the place tidy while they worked. I was offsite and could not come in person so periodically he sent pictures and videos showing their progress. He gave knowledgeable recommendations and guidance throughout. They coordinated material delivery well. Vadim even returned extra leftover tile back to the store for me. They did some extra little things for no additional charge that were technically not in scope. Quality work. Overall, highly recommended! read more

I hired Vadim to do a kitchen renovation for me. It was a pretty small project, as my kitchen is tiny. He and his team were professional and efficient. He responded quickly to any questions, and kept me updated as to the status of the project. The sub-contractors that he hired for the cabinets and countertops were knowledgeable and skilled. I am very happy with the results. read more

Good Products and fair. The service was average, but everything was completed as expected.

This is the second time I hired Vadim to do a job and he and his team did not disappoint- this time I hired him to do work for my Mom. They did a thorough job, very efficiently and it looks great. Vadim and his team are trustworthy professionals and I recommend them without hesitation. read more

Vadim and his crew were great during our recent bathroom renovation. Their work was excellent, and they were incredibly tidy and respectful throughout. We especially appreciated them minimizing disruption by mostly working with the doors closed while we continued living in the apartment. Vadim was also very flexible and accommodating working with the materials we selected. Vadim's attentiveness went above and beyond when a minor leak arose during the renovation. He promptly contacted our building management to resolve the leak and repaint the affected ceiling in the downstairs apartment. Vadim himself was always responsive to our messages, which made us feel confident and comfortable throughout the project. We highly recommend Vadim. read more

Vadim & team just finished a gut reno of our bathroom. We knew we wanted him to work on our bathroom after seeing the work he did on our neighbor's unit. The quality of work is outstanding. He & his team were prompt, clean & professional. It was also very easy to contact Vadim prior to the start of construction so I could run materials by him. If I were to change anything, I would have asked him for a resource for our vanity counter- he has a full network of colleagues (plumbers/electricians/stone workers) and getting our vanity countertop from an outside company instead of his contact slowed down our reno slightly. read more

The White Star team was a dream to work with. Professionals who sincerely care about cleanliness, punctuality, and time efficiency. The work was also just wonderful. They did basement baseboard install, painting, sourced french doors for closet and bathroom door replacement (after a past flooding issue), stained and installed a custom spice rack, and fixed electrical outlets in some parts of the home. Lead contractor, Vadim, was exceptionally focused on my customer experience and I appreciated his attention to detail and insuring the process has been running smoothly. I was mainly coordinating for someone else labor in their home, but Vadim and his team were on it and Vadim was a good communicator of relaying expectations and the scope of what would be done. They were also very flexible and as other concerns in the home were desired to be reviewed or resolved, once priorities were settled, they were willing to give us insight on what could be fixed the time horizon it would be addressed. If I had any suggestions or recommendation for them, I would encourage promoting 1 or 2 more payment methods and if a small fee would need to be added, I think clients wouldn't mind if it was just a more convenient method. If and when I have other contracting needs, I already know to call these contractors as they truly have given me faith in back in honest client- contractor relationships. Thank you for your great work and the peace of mind you had provided us! read more

Highly recommend the guys at White Star. Their work was excellent and their daily video updates were greatly appreciated. After dealing with a couple of dodgy contractors it was a pleasure working with the team at White Star. 100% would use again. read more

Vadim and his team were great during a recent small project in our apartment. We recently moved in and had issues with our baseboards not being level with the floor. We contacted Vadim to see if he could install shoe molding and repaint the baseboards. Vadim provided a free consultation to walk through the project and gave us a fair, competitive quote for the requested work. He and his team arrived at the agreed-upon time and instantly got to work. They were friendly, did a great job providing status updates, informed us of the work they were doing, and offered recommendations along the way. Upon completion, they did an excellent clean-up job and offered to help move furniture back into place. All in all, it was a very positive experience working with Vadim, and we are excited to work with him on more projects in the future. Thanks, Vadim and team! read more

After dealing with many contractors over the years I was amazed by Vadim and his crew. They showed up every morning on time. I needed my master bathroom renovated due to a leak in the building. They worked meticulously demolishing the old bathroom. They installed all new tiles, (wall, mosaic and octagonal), vanity, sink, toilet, etc. and sliding shower doors in a very professional way in communicating with me any questions they might have had. They painted neatly and when they were done wiped down everything, including non bathroom areas that might have accumulated dust. If you need a contractor, White Star General is for you. read more

Highly recommended! Vadim and team just finished an IKEA kitchenette and primary bathroom remodel for me. I found White Star here on Yelp because I wanted to start my Brooklyn project ASAP with an experienced team. Vadim had me on this schedule in a matter of days, and his prices lined up with other estimates. White Star are full service contractors who can do just about anything, and arrived everyday on time, completed the work ahead of schedule, and came in on budget! I was living and working from home on site through the work and the team was so easy to have here. I'm pretty hands on with the details and Vadim worked with me when a few changes to the plan came up (or I changed my mind on a finish). They moved quicker than I could and I was often just trying to catch up. It felt great to partner up with contractors who are nimble and responsive, and could handle everything from beginning to end to ensure my vision became a reality. I'd definitely hire White Star again. read more

After a terrible flood in our home (2 weeks after moving in) Vadim and his crew were called in to put us back together. We couldn't have hoped for a better crew! Vadim walked us through the process and explained & answered all our questions. He was extremely calm and understanding of the situation after the trauma we experienced. His crew of 2 wonderful men worked tirelessly every day(weekends too) especially when we asked them To prioritize our son's room. Not only Were they professional and efficient, they took time after every day to clean up so dust and dirt wouldn't be dragged up to rest of apt. Vadim was always available to listen to our feedback. He is a perfectionist and clearly takes pride in his work no matter the size of job as does his crew. We are very grateful to have had their help going above and beyond in every aspect of the "job". White Star General Contractors - Thank you WHITE STAR for our bathroom - General Contractors Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

White Star General Contracting was hired to paint our apartment after some massive flooding from the apartment above us. In addition, we also hired them to change a bathroom vanity in our guest bathroom and attach some large pieces of furniture to the walls. Vadim, the owner, is very aggressive with his scheduling and was highly agitated each time he came to our apartment. We found him to be extremely unprofessional in his refusal to lay down any protective floor covering despite being aware that we just had new floors installed. He also mistakenly thought that the vanity installation was in the master bathroom instead of the guest bathroom despite several email and texts back and forth months prior confirming it was the guest bathroom. The installation was poorly done and Vadim has failed to properly install the plinth base which should be touching the floor and bearing the weight of the cabinet. Instead, Vadim used the leveling legs to raise the cabinet so he wouldn't have to touch up the plaster wall but the full weight of the cabinet is poised on these levels instead of on the plinth base. See attached picture. Despite all of the above my biggest concern was Vadim's lack of knowledge regarding plumbing in residential buildings six stories and above. Vadim switched a pipe in our bathroom without our permission when installing the vanity and violated NYC Plumbing Code that prohibits the use of plastic piping in residential buildings six stories or higher. He did come back to change the pipe after I complained but insisted the entire time that is up to code and we can agree to disagree. In addition, we were charged to install (2) large bookcases, a small cabinet and hang a piece of artwork. Vadim did not attach the (2) large bookcases to the wall in my daughter's room but still charged us for the work anyway. I would NOT recommend White Star General Contracting due to my concerns regarding their lack of knowledge of NYC Construction Codes, the owner's disgruntled attitude, and their billing practices. read more

I would highly recommend Vadim. He did great work and delivered the project on budget and was eager to finish on schedule. My project was a little different than the typical one; it involved renovations in a brownstone which was originally built in the mid 1800's. Needless to say, there were a variety of issues we encountered along the way. Vadim was able to handle all of them. In addition, during the course of the project we decided to incorporate a HVAC system into the building which required a lot of additional work. Again, Vadim handled it all with no questions asked even though it added a ton more time and work to the project. The system came out great as well. He also installed custom doors and windows; renovated our entire kitchen; stopped our wood floors from squeaking; fixed random electrical issues included adding sockets, hanging (ridiculously large) chandeliers, and installing overhead lighting; fixed a leaking roof; and repainted the entire house. Point is, he handled everything without any major issues. He also cared a lot about the quality of work even correcting a variety of issues which were not his responsibility without hesitation or charge. In addition to the quality of work, Vadim was above and beyond attentive. He arrived on time and provided a very reasonable quote within minutes of leaving. During the course of the project, he was available by text anytime we needed him. He was also really good about sending pictures of work which needed our input to do properly. read more

I've heard so many horror stories about contractors over the years and I was a bit apprehensive to start. However, I was lucky enough to have White Star renovate our Brownstone apartment. Vadim and his team were professional, honest, clean, on time, and had great craftsman ship. They were hard working and highly communicative. Vadim was also upfront and very reasonable on their cost. A few things came up during the project, and Vadim's team was more than accommodating. During the final walk through, I was able to see Vadim's perfectionism. He went over everything, from the paint to the grout in the bathroom -- which shows how meticulous he is. I will definitely work with White Star again. I cannot recommend them enough! read more

Vadim and team are THE BEST! We were just coming off of a bad experience with another contractor and feeling a little tender, but the white star team took great care of us. They were thorough, detail oriented, and escalated all the right decisions to us without overwhelming or bothering us with minutia. They went above and beyond to make things perfect, even in a 150 year old house with no right angles. They showed up on time every morning as expected, kept us updated on any delays, and kept our house clean and tidy the whole time - to the point where, not only were we able to live here with our three boys while they worked on the bathroom and kitchen, but I was able to continue working from home as well. They were reasonably priced reliable and respectful of our home. Just great :-) read more

White Star General Contractors - Tub-to-shower conversion, custom cabinetry, new tile floor, lights and paint - General Contractors Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

White Star did a fantastic and quick job putting up a wall where a closet once was, fixing trim around a built in that a previous contractor did a sloppy job on, and creating and installing three sets of custom closet doors for us. they also painted 11 of our interior doors and trim as well as removed a built in bench in our foyer. everything looks really great and they were super helpful when we weren't 100% happy with something...it was fixed right away. White Star is the cleanest and neatest contractor company that I have ever dealt with (and i have hired A LOT of them). granted, they didn't remove tiles (which is where most dust comes from), but our home was left spotless. I recommend White Star without hesitation. Thank you for doing such a great job. i am especially happy with the new doors! finally...no more bi-fold nightmares. read more

I am in the real estate development industry so I have worked with dozens of contractors over the past 25 years and I have to say that Vadim and his team at White Star is one the best in the business. Responsive, fair and thorough estimating, and flawless execution. White Star renovated two kitchens in our townhouse in what I consider record time. They were on budget and on schedule. In addition to expert execution of the renovation, they were neat/tidy and considerate of the other spaces in the apartments and the building. I will DEFINTELY be using them again for other renovations and recommend them without hesitation. read more

We used White Star for another project, and the results were great. Highly recommend working with Vadim and his team.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found White Star for our work and we would hire him again without hesitation. This was a renovation in a landmarked brownstone, caused by a fire that destroyed two bathrooms, hardwood floors and central staircase walls. Brownstones are quirky and and there are always challenges as construction occurs. Vadim is very detail oriented, highly communicative from first meeting all the way through project, and he and his team are fast and have meticulous attention to detail. Vadim is a creative problem solver, and has a great eye for design as well. He is on the project every day, checking on progress and doing hands on work himself. The extra wrinkle to this story is that although the property is in Brooklyn, we - the owners - live in california. We hired Vadim based on the strength of his reviews, the pictures of his work, and the detailed assessment he gave us as to the work that would be needed for our place to restore it. We did have the opportunity to meet with Vadim in person on the site. We traveled there so that after demolition, we could jointly assess with him whether our original plans needed any adjustment. After that visit, we were so comfortable with Vadim's professionalism and skills, and those of his team, that we did not travel back to the site until after the project was completed. Vadim is highly communicative via text, email, phone calls and facetime, so we were able to track the progress and troubleshoot with him even being across the country. He was a pleasure to work with all the way through the project. He often pointed out small details that he would take care of that we had not thought to ask for, but made a huge difference in the beauty of the finished product. We were finally able to go see the work in person and there is not one fault to find in any of the work he did. It looks even more beautiful in person than in pictures. Bottom line: amazing work and so pleasant to work with. read more

Vadim and his team are absolute professionals from start to finish. We did a gut reno of our bathroom in Brooklyn. After calling a few different contractors, Vadim was the most confident, very eager to satisfy and professional. His price was fair and he explained every component in his quote. He helped us when selecting the materials for the bathroom (tiles, fixtures, etc.) to bw sure they are the right fit and quantity and offered to pick them up as well. They were quick with all the paperwork and licenses so that I could pass onto my building, they sealed the rest of the apartment from dirt and dust during the construction and Vadim kept us updated with photos and videos throughout the process. They finished the job ahead of schedule, left the apartment pristine and have said they will come back for any touch up we may need. Vadim is super responsive and very knowledgeable about construction and building codes - not all contractors are, surprisingly! He is also just very kind, a good guy and proud of his work. I can't recommend him enough and would happily hire him for any future project. read more

Unfortunately we were unable to work with this contractor, simply because our building's insurance requirements were too strict. But Vadim was very helpful and communicative during the process. If you need to renovate your apartment/house, Vadim is the guy you should go to. I moved into an apartment that was in move-in condition but my daughter's bathroom was just too ugly. Also the bowl shaped sink was too high for a 9 year old girl to use so she constantly used mine.) So I decided to fix it. First, the vanity arrived with broken top from Homedepot. I got so stressed out but he assured me that it should be fine as long as he gets the replacement on the last day of the reno. And then, Vadim found that we have plumbing issues, which took another few days to take care of. He was very flexible with his schedule and was fast and efficient. The floor tiles are flawless and everything is installed in perfection. He cleans while he works, no empty boxes and debris lying on the floor! I have only complements for him. I already recommended him to my friends who just bought an apartment. Attaching the before and after photos! read more

I hired Vadim and his crew to assemble and install a Murphy bed that I had purchased online. I was grateful to them for coming out and doing such a professional job putting it together. They are used to more complex and rigorous projects, complete renovations and so forth, so he's very experienced in all types of work. But this Murphy bed project was too complicated for me. There were errors in the instruction manual, but they were able to see the problems and figure out the correct way to put it together, despite the problems with the instruction book. Throughout the whole project, Vadim kept me informed and up to date about every detail or potential problem with the installation. In the end, I think the bed looks great. Vadim and Don are those dream contractors whom all people want. I was lucky enough to have them renovate the kitchen and a bathroom in my apartment from November 2015 to January 2016. Respectful and reliable, they are a joy to deal with. Here are a few reasons why I'd invite them again if I needed to renovate something else. First, I'm happy with the results they delivered. The quality of their work is amazing. Whatever they did looks solid, modern, and fresh. They worked by the book, complying with all technoligy requirements. So everything they renovated will be durable and lasting. Moreover, seeing their outstanding performance and crystal honesty, I asked them to do some extra work that I hadn't planned before. And I was so glad when they agreed. Second, their estimate was true and never increased. So I could safely plan my expenses and schedule. Third, they cared a lot about what I planned, wanted, and thought. They went to all lengths to realize my ideas. Vadim called me every day to ask if my family and I were happy with the work being done. Fourth, Vadim and Don could always be reached by phone. If their phone didn't answer, they called back within a few minutes. I could call them to ask questions even over the weekend. Fifth, experienced contractors, they offered practical solutions to any problem I encountered. I benefited hugely from their creative ideas and insights. Sixth, they had all lisences and insurances, so they were fast to be approved to renovate in a cooperative building with strict rules like mine. Seventh, they are simply nice people who know how to communicate with, listen to, and respect their customers. Dealing with them is super easy. I thank Vadim and Don, honest and reliable contractors, for making my home cosy and comfortable. If I need to renovate again, I know whom I should call. read more

We can't say enough great things about Vadim and the team at White Star General Contractors. We needed to renovate/upgrade the walk-in shower in our master bathroom in a narrow timeframe, as we were preparing to put our condo on the market. Vadim exceeded expectations in every way. He planned the work to meet our constraints and completed everything on time with a relentless focus on quality. He is timely and responsive to your calls/texts/emails - a huge breath of fresh air as compared to most other NYC contractors. He had two or three other jobs going on simultaneously, but always made us feel like we were his number one and only priority. We are very happy with the finished product/renovation! From our first email exchange, Vadim was by far the most responsive contractor I have encountered. He was always back in touch with me within a day, usually within a few hours. I hired Vadim to repair some windows that had been installed incorrectly by the builders of my apartment. It was a small job but I was having a hard time finding a contractor to complete the work. Vadim and his staff worked hard to find an affordable solution for me. He made sure to keep my place as clean as possible throughout the process and provided me with frequent updates on his progress. He explained the work he was doing and why he thought it would be affective at solving my problem. I have had mixed results with contractors in Brooklyn - some do the bare minimum work, and others have quoted me outrageous prices for small jobs.
