CNM Construction was a fantastic choice for our project. Matt was super responsive and gave us a fair quote for our 1-bedroom overhaul, including a gut kitchen remodel. The project took longer than expected, about 2 years, due to issues with our co-op board, but CNM was patient and communicated well throughout. Our renovation plans had to change several times due to board demands, but CNM handled it smoothly. When construction did finally start, it went by quickly and smoothly. Special kudos to Mateo and Jose for their great construction work and openness to our feedback. We're thrilled with the end result and would happily work with CNM again in the future. If you want a responsive, patient, and flexible construction partner, CNM is a great choice! read more

This company is wonderful. Cannot recommend Jose, Mateo and the entire Chan family highly enough. They are skilled, careful, conscientious and the work they do is excellent. They renovated a bathroom for us and while on the job took care a a number of other jobs at reasonable cost. read more

it's always difficult to find a contractor who checks all the boxes: does great work, is reliable , and is reasonably priced. Jose, Mateo and the entire Chan family are all those things and they are my first go-to. Unlike a lot of contractors, they have integrity, won't leave you high and dry, and are conscientiously clean. They are very busy, but they are worth the wait for jobs both big and small. read more

There are not enough words to describe how truly amazing this team is. Mateo, Jose and his team are just wonderful, we were sooo lucky to have found them!! We hired them to gut renovate our new home. Firstly, they price fairly and they do try to work out an honest and fair contract by working within our budget. Secondly, we gave them a check list of renovations we wanted and they fulfilled each and every single one of them to the end. They really take the time to do a high quality job the right way, for example, we needed new kitchen floors, so they first removed all the old flooring and then setup and leveled the subfloor to install the new tiles correctly. Any job they do, they do it the right way, without shortcuts! The result was beautiful and strong new floors that will last a really long time. Also their attention to detail is so great, if they cut a tile, they make sure it is straight and has no faults, if they are covering gaps then they will cover it all without missing one spot. Their work is so organized, and careful and neat. They are also very punctual, they always show up on time and leave on time without missing a day. Their communication is superb, anytime time I contacted them I always recieved a reply with a solution to our problem. They are also great at offering recommendations and advise, like picking out a tub or choosing a shower system. Also they have connections to kitchen cabinet or flooring services if needed. Overall me and my family couldn't be any happier to have found these guys, they made our look truly sooo beautiful. They are truly amazing and wonderful and sooo helpful, we completely recommend them to anyone looking for any type of renovation!!! read more

I just finished a gut renovation of my West Village apartment. The CNM team (Matt, Jose, Mateo & Vicente) are a tremendous group to work with. They provided top notch customer service and excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. I can't express enough how pleased I was with CNM Construction. They did my bathroom 5 years ago and when I decided to remodel my kitchen, I knew they were the ones to call. They are professional and thoughtful and the work is top notch. They gave good suggestions and noticed things I didn't. They were extremely accommodating and though it may seem like a small thing, they protected the furniture when they worked and cleaned up meticulously at the end of every day. I now have my dream kitchen. They do all kinds of work, big and small. I will call them for my next job. I can't recommend them enough. Fair, kind, trustworthy and producers of quality work. read more

i would put ten stars, but you can only do 5. Jose, Mateo, Mateo & Vincente- there isn't enough space to share what amazing work they do, and what wonderful, thoughtful, precise, honest, skilled team this is. One story I delight in sharing is that one afternoon, I looked at my archway and was sorry to see that the height marks for my two kids had been painted over... My bad- I didn't say anything. When I walked out of the room I saw that Mateo had copied all of the marks (with annotations) on the other side of the wall. Really, this was so moving to me. It says who they are. Hire them, don't look at the price. The work they do is spot on, they don't drag it out either. My job was done in just under 4 months. read more

We just completed a partial master bathroom renovation with them and couldn't be more happy with the work that Mateo and Vincente did. We were limited in tile choice and look because we were keeping the aesthetics of the bathroom as is (otherwise it would have been too costly to replace floor to ceiling tiles in our large bathroom). Mateo made minor discretionary changes that were just so spot-on. Their work is meticulous! Would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

Matt, Matteo, and Jose are amazing! They actually worked on our first apartment in 2011. And we are the lucky few that are repeat customers. They came back after 7 years and fixed some issues before the sale of that apartment. When we purchased our new apartment, we only had CNM Construction Inc. in mind. We bought the apartment in 2020, but we couldn't  renovate it until 2021 due to the pandemic. Matt's team was right there with us the entire time. They feel more close to family this renovation round, especially Matteo and Jose.  This second home renovation was quite comprehensive and would take 6 months to complete. We moved walls, tore pipes, floors, put up walls, and rebuilt the entire apartment from its shells. This home was a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom gut job that became a 3 bedroom  and 2 bathroom renovation. Matt and Matteo were meticulous about communicating every step of the project since we went out of town for 3 months. They are excellent about returning phone calls, listening to your concerns, and giving helpful suggestions of what to steer clear of. It is quite rare where you talk  to one person on a team and the other member (who you didn't talk to) already is aware of the communication. That speaks to their professionalism. There are so many details that go into a home renovation and that really helped make the experience stronger. There were some supply chain problems due to the pandemic, but they were great about being flexible and working around the issues. We did work with some vendors that Matt recommended and they were amazing as well. Matt is very careful who he will recommend and work with. We chose Matt's team many years ago because they were listening to what home we wanted to create,  we didn't feel like the other contractor's were listening to our vision. These guys are spectacular in creating a home that is for you! read more

CNM has is an absolutely fantastic team to work with. Matt, Jose and their team are extremely responsive, very quick, and deliver high quality work. We first worked with them 4 years ago when they came in and fixed a botched kitchen re-do.... then we had them fix up our next location, and recently they did a complete reno on our bathroom and basement. It is great to have a strong and trustworthy team just a text or phone call away. Highly recommend if you want a team of experts who will get the job done quickly and professionally. read more

Matt, Jose and his team are fantastic. They recently completed a bathroom renovation for us and it's wonderful! They were great to work with and our bathroom looks new and fresh. They were flexible to changes to original plans on the fly, which is really important; and provided some good suggestions. And one of the more reasonably priced contractors out there. We are going to have them come back in the new year to re-do our second bathroom. Check out the before and after photos! read more

My Appartment needed a complete renovation bathrooms, kitchen.... I chose C&M Construction after interviewing several contractors and reading his reviews on Yelp. I have renovated many properties in my life and have a lot of experience with contractors. Matt and his crew were completely professional and a pleasure to work with from the estimate to the final punch list. While bidding for the job Matt was honest that he would not be able to start my job for about 3 months and I appreciated his honesty. I don't live NYC full time so I would not be onsite to monitor daily progress. I needed a reliable contractor. Matt sent me frequent photos of the progress and whenever I did show up on site announced and unannounced the quality of the work they were doing was evident. My husband and I are both very detailed and expect quality work. Where areas of concern arose we effortlessly worked together with Matt to come up with solutions. It is my pleasure to recommend C&M Construction. Matt turned my Ugly Duckling Appartment into a beautiful Swan!! read more

We worked with Jose and his team about 6 years ago, and after that great experience we recently had them gut another bathroom for us. I cannot say enough about their work and professionalism. They give an honest estimate quickly and are very clear and reasonable about any additional expenses that arise as the walls get opened and reality becomes more visible. They take one job at a time, so while we had to wait a while to get them into our house, particularly during the pandemic, it was well worth it. Mateo and Vicente showed up on time every day, kept our home in immaculate condition during the entirety of the project, and were an absolute pleasure to work with. You never have to worry about them disappearing for a week in the middle of your project in order to start another. Their years of experience mean there are no surprises, and they are happy to talk through possible solutions. They are very reasonably priced, but the experience and the results are better than many contractors who are asking more. I could go on and on. If you're looking for a contractor, C & M is the place to start. read more

My wife and I contacted a number of contractors before deciding on C&M for our bathroom renovations and other work. Matt Zaccheo provided a detailed estimate for the work a year ago, but we had to postpone until February. He held to the estimate and gave us good suggestions along the way. As you can see from the before and after pictures, he and Jose, and their team of Vicente and Juan did an outstanding job. Unfortunately, the job took longer than expected because of the coronavirus restrictions that went into effect a week before completion. The rest of the work wrapped up in less than a week. We couldn't be happier with the results. They did great in containing dust by installing plastic barriers. We plan on using them again. Highly recommended. read more

Just completed gut renovation of our living room, dining room, kitchen - and basement with CNM Construction. They are pleasant, reliable and take pride in their work. I wish I could give C & M even more stars! My experience with Matt, Jose, Matteo and Juan (as well as everyone else working for them) could not have been better. C & M renovated an office space for me and they did an amazing job. They added new walls and doors (were even able to make them soundproof), new floors, a new bathroom, a new kitchenette, re-wired for a split system, painted, wallpapered, and more. Yes, this was a big project for me, renovating, furnishing, dealing with a co-op board, dealing with city and state offices, lots of stress to say the least. But then there was Matt and the C & M team--ahhhh, stress-free: really! Imagine a contractor that anticipates the next thing to be done; think of a small thing that you would like, and before you ask for it, it is done. Imagine a contractor who is honest, kind, thoughtful, really smart, professional, works clean, and is meticulous in the execution of everything. He was done before I thought he would be! No, it is not a dream: it is C & M. I cannot say enough good things about C & M. Consider yourself lucky to be able to hire them. read more

I contacted Matt Zaccheo to bid on a kitchen renovation for my new apt. He sent one of his employees to scope out the project and then called me a week later to say that he wouldn't be able to do the work until the fall (though he initially told me he could do it in August). He also stated that he would not be able to provide even a bid until 3 weeks AFTER he saw the apt. I've never had that slow of a turnaround with any other contractor. He was completely unprofessional and a waste of my time. Very surprised by all the positive reviews since he seemed like it was a burden to provide me a quote. read more

I used Matt to renovate my entire a125 year old Brownstone. He was there for the entire process. He suggested the Archetect, filed for the permits, suggested fixtures, stonework, cabinets and flooring. He even made custom crown moldings and woodwork to match the old woodwork that was installed over 100 years ago. Matt is a real gentleman that always has a smile on his face. I would imagine thats because he takes great satisfaction in his completed work. He would never cut corners and called to check after the work was completed to make sure I was happy with the job. I would never use anyone else again! Matt and his crew are completely trustworthy, friendly and professional. His workmanship is second to none. I would recommend Matt Zaccheo and C & M home improvement to anyone without hesitation. read more

I've used C&M Home Improvement for two renovations in the past and the work is fantastic. Matt and is team are very professional and found their prices reasonable. Would definitely use them again and highly recommend them. read more

Ok so this review is LONG overdue (sorry Matt). This was the first time we have used a contractor and we were a bit nervous (we heard horror stories). We bought a co-op and I had a vision of a spa bathroom. We interviewed a bunch of contractors and my husband and I instantly liked Matt. He was down to earth, honest, and a stand-up guy. I was hesitant about the estimate but I have to say you get what you pay for. Matt and Jose were awesome! Matt listened to all my wants and went with the flow. Jose and the crew were polite and worked every day. When there was a glitch, I was not afraid to call Matt and tell him. He would show up and fix the problem immediately. Matt was ALWAYS available to talk. The finished product was more than I could have asked for. We will be hiring Matt when it is time to redo the kitchen! read more

There is only one word to describe the service and competency of Matt and his crew from C & M Home Improvement... fantastic !!. We have just completed a total renovation of our kitchen and bathroom with C & M and everything, and I mean everything, has been completed with our total approval. Matt goes out of his way to make sure that everything is done to your specifications and approval. From the very beginning he worked with us to make sure that we were happy every step of the way. When we didn't like the way a tile border looked in our bathroom, he removed it and replaced it. When we pointed out something that didn't look right, he made it so. We had an issue with the microwave we purchased for the kitchen. Turns out it was too large to fit in the cabinet that was sent from our cabinet supplier. He took the time to take my wife to where we bought the microwave as I was working at the time. At first, the vendor didn't want to take it back as it was already opened. Matt not only convinced him to take it back, but negotiated a replacement at the same cost of the original. To me, that's service above and beyond. The project took a little longer than expected due to no fault from Matt at all. Just the nature of the beast when working in a co-op apartment building. At the end of the project, we were expecting the usual, "Well since I did ...A, B & C extra, you'll have to give me an additional $$$$." We were pleasantly surprised when we heard no such thing. I even offered to give Matt more because of all he did extra for us. He politely refused. What more can you ask? If you are considering a home improvement project, I enthusiastically recommend Matt and his crew from C & M Home Improvement. Again, plan for a little more time for the project to be completed, but once it is, you will totally love the results and the services that C & M Home Improvement supplies. read more

Highly recommend C&M Home Improvement. They are very excellent! You may need to book them a head of time. Matt and his crew did renovate our bathroom. They did a excellent job. I recently hired Matt and his crew to renovate the kitchen and hardwood floors throughout my apartment. This was undoubtedly the best experience with a contractor I have had to date. From the beginning and throughout the process he was quickly responsive to any questions or concerns I had. We did a somewhat high end renovation with custom cabinets and an integrated refrigerator. They handled every aspect of the renovation with meticulous care, and the results prove it. The crew is uniformed and professional. The head worker Mateo is extraordinarily talented and very pleasant to deal with. The price Matt quoted in the beginning is what I paid at the end; no up-charges despite a few changes to the plans here and there. C&M is not the cheapest, but it's worth the price and wait to have excellence. read more

I wish I could give C & M Home Improvement 10 stars instead of 5. Had to wait quite a while for Matt but it was well worth the wait. My apartment kitchen had a gut renovation and it was not easy to do. The only things I kept were my microwave and safety step stool. There was very little space in my apartment for Matt & his wonderful crew to keep their tools & equipment but they managed beautifully. My apartment door had to be removed in order to get the appliances in but they did this and more both efficiently and without complaining. I am a fusspot that never had to voice a complaint because the work was meticulous. Matt was always there checking the progress and he was always available for any questions I had. I was able to leave my home for appointments without worry, appreciating the honesty of the crew. The crew cheerfully answered any questions I had and always checked to see how I wanted items placed. Holes in the wall were covered up before they left for the day so I never had a problem with mice or roaches. Thankfully, this was part of their job and I never had to request it. Matt recommended an excellent cabinet maker, electrician and stone installer. The construction cost was reasonable compared to other contractors and we did not go above budget. I was initially nervous about the renovation but all I have to say is that as soon as I started working with Matt that immediately went away. He is the nicest person to work with and the vendors he recommended were also very nice. When the appliance store delayed delivery, Matt took it in stride. I highly recommend C & M Home Improvement. If you have to wait for Matt Zaccheo to do your construction work, do so, it will be well worth the wait. read more

I really can't say enough about C & M. They are honest, terrific craftsmen with reasonable rates, and I will not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to my friends. They did a gut renovation of my bathroom in Park Slope. From the moment he came in to give me his estimate, Matt showed himself to be an honest and caring guy. He said he was most concerned that I be happy with the results, and at first I thought, "Of course he HAS to say that--" but it was true! He thought of additional and affordable things for my bathroom design I hadn't considered, and gently steered me away from unwise (and potentially expensive) mistakes. Jose and Vincente, his crew, are fantastic, very detail oriented and professional, and like another reviewer, I trusted my keys with them. In addition, they gave me many considerations, for example daily replacing the toilet in my bathroom up until the very end so that I could still stay in my place during construction. This was above and beyond and for that I am totally grateful. Frequently Matt would suggest a little improvement on our original plan, like moving the plumbing to make the shower more comfortable, or installing an extra recessed light. Jose even built me a countertop over my Ikea cabinets, making the place look totally custom. These were totally affordable improvements that made a big difference-- Matt didn't nickel and dime at all. When I had that inevitable weird freak out of "what grout color is this?" (which I never thought I'd be that person, but I totally was) Matt was totally cool and drove all the way to my place to make sure that I was perfectly happy with his purchases before the guys did anything permanent. Finally, a week after everything was done, my drain was a little slow, and I called Matt who rushed over and made sure it was fixed immediately. These guys really do take pride in what they do. The work they did was top-notch. They were not afraid to wait to ask me about a decision they were unsure of (heights of tiling, things like that), and the tile work was wonderful. I will post pictures as soon as I can. The best way to illustrate the quality of my experience: my super is notoriously disapproving of the contractors in NYC (we have an old and tough building to work in, and he is protective of both his building and of his residents). By the end of the process, my super came in to "inspect," pronounced my bathroom "gorgeous," called Matt and his crew "some stand-up guys" and asked for their contact info to recommend them to my neighbors. Be warned-- like every truly good contractor in the city, Matt is BUSY. But he will not start your job and then abandon it for other jobs, like some! He may start a few weeks later than you originally plan (sometimes because he is making sure his previous job is perfect) but it is worth the wait, truly. read more

This should be no stars. The owners are not very professional whatsoever . They charged way too much compared to actually professional experience. They will not clean up their mess and you have to end up cleaning up their mess. They will end up damaged your property and tell you can fixed it. They won't fixed what they have damaged. I will not recommend them to no one. They already have one star . This is for real worest people you can ever hire. read more

I had an overwhelmingly positive experience with this company during my full bath and kitchen renovation this past summer (2016). I have never had any major work done before but the initial estimate of cost and time were both accurate, and Matt and the workers were very accommodating and easy to work with. There were no surprises, and everything that came up or needed to be changed during the process went smoothly. Everyone I worked with was reliable, honest, respectful and accommodating. We used Matt to renovate our small studio apartment in Bay Ridge. I have built 4 homes in NY and Vermont and worked with builders for each. Working with Matt was not like any of the 4 experiences I had. Most construction contractors live for the moment. Get your job, get your money and get out. Matt is a breath of fresh air. We use the studio a few times a year, so we had not ventured back to have Matt finish a few lose ends. He called us when he didn't hear from us to ask when he can come back. Matt and his team renovated our apartment. The renovation included most of the entire apartment, including refinishing the floors, building and installing a closet, electrical, and virtually a gut renovation of both the bathroom and the kitchen. First, Matt came in below the estimates provided by several other contractors. Second, and equally important, we had a wonderful experience with Matt and his team. He was very responsive and both he and his crew were extremely professional and knowledgeable. We were extremely satisfied with the end product. In fact, even after the completion of the project, Matt addressed a few lingering knacks. There is no doubt that we would turn to Matt once again for a renovation...in a heartbeat. read more

We used c&m to renovate our bathroom. Matt was friendly and honest with us during the process. He stuck to his original estimate when he gave me the bill and did not nickel and dime us. I can't say enough about Matt and his crew. They renovated my 1936 bathroom and did an amazing job. Matt was always responsive and willing to answer any of my questions, at any time. Jose and the rest of the crew did a meticulous job and were very careful about cleaning up and about sealing off my bedroom doors so that the dust would not spread when they did the demolition. They were also very accommodating and helped make the job stress free; they picked up the tile and bathroom fixtures for me, and even brought me a few samples of marble that I could use for the niche. In the end the bathroom looks like it came straight out of a magazine - no detail was too small. This sums up my experience with Matt: at the end of the job, he said "you have to do every job like it was your own home." I can't say enough about the quality and professionalism of C & M. I will hire them again! read more

There's no rating system that goes high enough for C&M. Matt and his team renovated our prewar one bedroom completely while we lived there. C&M Home Improvements did an expert job renovating my bathroom. Mateo, who was in charge of the project, is exceptionally skilled and quite personable. I found Matt on Angie's list. This was my first renovation project and I was very cautious after contracting horror stories I heard all around. The number of positive reviews on Angie's list made me contact Matt and after hearing his quote and discussing my plans I decided to go with Matt without looking any further. He told me from the start that he was very busy and I would have to wait for a few months. I decided to do it anyway and it was the best decision I have ever made. Matt and his team just finished renovating my bathroom. The bathroom was from the time the building was built, 1928, and needed a complete redoing. I also wanted to get rid of the bathtub and replace it with a shower. It required a complete gutting of the place and practically rebuilding it from the scratch. Matt's team did a fantastic job. The quality of work is outstanding and the attention to detail extraordinary. And no budget overruns!!! The guys were also a pleasure to deal with. I was almost sorry to see them go. Recently had Matt & his folks gut & redo my bathroom - very pleased with the process, & the results. Matt's estimate was fair & reasonable, & he came in exactly on point when we finished - despite a few challenging plan alterations along the way. He was always reachable when needed, stopped by the site every day to check on his guys (who were wonderful - extremely polite, courteous, patient & skilled), dealt with my daily altering design plans with grace & never made me feel crazy for small specific requests or changes of mind once seeing it come together, & offered good solid suggestions & vendor recommendations along the way. They were able to do the entire job neatly & with low impact while the whole time we lived in the (not large) apartment - which I didn't expect to be the case. In addition, I simply found he & his crew to be genuinely decent, honest, & easygoing people - which has more importance than I would have anticipated (after all, they will be in your home daily for weeks). Recommend without hesitation. read more
