Something about paying over $5 for a kolache or a breakfast taco hurts the Texan in me but it's only to be expected in nyc. The decor of the place is very austin-esque with lots of kitschy Texan nods like license plates and whataburger ketchup bottles. The owners said they fly in coffee and sausages from somewhere in Texas to be as authentic as possible. Kolaches - I didn't feel that the sesame seeds on the buns were all that authentic. and I would have preferred the traditional long/narrow more hot-dog-like shape rather than the square bun type shapes that they have. In addition, I felt that the casing on the sausages were too thick and took away from the overall flavor. And there was wayy too much cheese in the kolaches - they overpowered the tastes of all the other ingredients. Breakfast Tacos - they're rather small, especially for something that's over $5. again, overpowered with lots of cheese. But then again, there aren't many choices in the city for us Texans for these things. For kolaches the only other place is Brooklyn Kolache. For breakfast tacos you have Yellow Rose, Los Tacos No 1 and Javelina (though 2 of those only do them on the weekends). The tacos came with 2 kinds of salsa - when I called it 'salsa' the owners corrected me and said they were 'sauces' which I felt was rather weird. This place is also rather out of the way in queens so it's a bit of a trek unless you happen to live nearby. I'm not aware that there's a large Texan transplant population nearby (or that there is any congregation of Texan transplants in the city at all for that matter).

Kings Kolache is a little bakery serving traditional and Austin modernized Kolaches! The dough itself is so fluffy and they were baking them fresh so mine were warm immediately as I ordered them. The place is supposed to be a slice of Austin Texas in NYC. The combo of a savory and sweet combo was the way to go for me, I loved the maple sausage egg and cheese but my favorite was the blueberry and cream it was so good. 2 Kolaches and a coffee for $10 is a great deal in my book! The vibe of this place is awesome and all the staff were extremely friendly to talk to!

I was really looking forward to trying this place but unfortunately was disappointed beyond repair with literally everything. I ordered delivery and got two kolaches and a red eye. First and foremost, if drinks are delivered it should probably be intact right? The drink spilled absolutely everywhere and on top of that tasted terrible. I got the bacon cheddar jalapeño kolache and blueberry cream cheese- both of which were awful and the best part is you can't tell which one was worse. There was barely any filling in both and the bread was stale and dry, the complete opposite of what a kolache should be. Save yourself from this new spot that can't make drinks or food ready and stick to the OG Brooklyn Kolache instead who is expanding and rightfully so.

A solid breakfast spot with kolaches (filled buns). Good music and a decent amount of seating for the size of the place. Friendly and welcoming staff. A little disappointed in the kolache bun I ordered (4.50). It was quite small and I couldn't taste the jalapeño. Coffee was average, no complaints. Overall I would go back to try other items as it looks like they update their menu often and the breakfast tacos looked good. 6.33 / 10

Not Texan so I can't speak to the authenticity of these kolaches, but they taste pretty darn good. The buns are hot and fresh, the texture is soft and light, and they have a variety of interesting flavors. I know the sweet fillings are the most traditional but I personally liked the egg and cheddar the most. The jalapeño sausage was also tasty but the filling to bun ratio is not as good.

This spot is so hip and fun. The owners brought the perfect amount of Texas up to Brooklyn. The kolaches are stunning and delicious. The klobásniks are meaty and yummy. I love the buildout as well. It is homey and comfy. Keep up the amazing job.

Only two places I've had kolaches. Houston and here. Both are good! I was randomly strolling ubereats and I saw this place. It was worth putting some shorts on and traveling out. Right off the L, pretty convenient. Inside is "quaint" or narrow. It's got nice decors and spots to sit. Outside is easily identifiable. Eye catching colors. I dig it. Also, had a late with oat milk. Wasn't thin and had balanced flavor.

I am a breakfast taco snob and I love these! The bacon, egg and cheese taco is the best! It has refried beans in it which is I think the secret weapon that turns something simple-sounding into something amazing-tasting. The sausage Kolaches are so good. I basically order a bunch of things and just eat them all day. Two tacos for breakfast. Two Kolaches for lunch. Maybe two more tacos for dinner. Mmmm. Love this place. Sundays are my Kings Kolache day. :) I'm from south Texas so I missed these goodies so much and I have to say that Kings Kolache Bakery is the real deal. Can't recommend enough. Coffee is great too.

I had never had a kolache before, but after seeing them on my seamless for so long, and with such good reviews, I decided to try Kings Kolache for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I ordered a sampler of items: sweet cheese blueberry, texas sausage and candied jalapeño w/ cheddar, egg and sausage with cheddar & maple syrup, breakfast taco w/ egg, poblano, potato, and cheese, and a cowboy boot dog treat for my pups. Delivery was within 20 minutes, and everything was well packaged. The pastries were delicious! Light, fluffy, and slightly sweet with a good filling to pastry ratio. I loved the sweet cheese and blueberry, but the breakfast ones were also amazing. The breakfast taco was hearty and flavorful too. My dogs enjoyed their treat and it same so nicely decorated, like a bakery cookie, that I understood why the description had to state "not for human consumption." Overall I would definitely recommend and will be a repeat customer!

I've been meaning to try Kings Kolache for a while so biked over today. Got caught in the rain so had to bike back to eat them at home instead of over at the park which is why some of them ended up more smushed than desired -- but on the plus side the humidity had them fluffed up more than usual as per the cashier so I'm sure it mostly balanced out. They have a counter you can order from the outside at to be COVID safe, and there were 5 specials today in addition to their two standard kolaches. I wanted to try a mix of sweet and savory, so got three -- the smoked sausage (imported from Texas according to the sign), cheddar, and candied jalapeño from their standard; the breakfast sausage, egg, and cheese from their specials (comes with maple syrup); and the banana nutella from their specials. I liked the savory more than the sweet, though a lot of my nutella did fall to the wayside. I was expecting it to be a filling instead of a topping like the other two, which would have solved that problem. My favorite was the sausage and candied jalapeño -- I'd been curious about the candying and thought the balance of flavors was perfect. I did enjoy the pop of umami with poured over sweet syrup in the breakfast themed one as well. Overall -- delicious, and worth the round trip bike ride with partial drizzle (a two-word phrase that could describe the nutella as well.)

Severely overpriced and not very tasty. It's not that far and food always arrives cold.

Sitting at the bar, it was only me one other patron and the bartender (with the host nearby). Had a great time talking, it was a slow day so we all really had a great time. I went with the white queso ($8) from the HH menu and then tried the fried cauliflower($9). They were good, breaded thickly with a great spicy sauce. All went great with a beer on tap, whatever was on HH that day.

Conveniently located near Union Square/14th Street on the Lexington Avenue Line, Javelina is fairly easy to get to from Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. The restaurant itself is downstairs from the street, but not quite a basement. There is a bar when you first enter on the left, and tables back to the kitchen. The space is usually quite loud, and it can be a bit cramped at times. Don't be surprised if you find yourself raising your voice a bit to keep up. Upon seating, you will (eventually) be offered chips and salsa, and someone will take your drink order. Things can take a bit of time here, especially at busy times, so do not expect the top tier of restaurant service by any stretch of the imagination. The menu features fajitas, and I cannot imagine ordering anything else. The queso is a lovely appetizer, though the trio feels a bit small for the price. If you order fajitas, you will notice another shortcoming of this restaurant, the tables can feel a bit cramped. This is something that comes with the territory in Manhattan dining but do not feel surprised if you end up having to rearrange things on your table to accommodate a delicious platter of sizzling fajitas. The fajitas themselves are fine, and probably the most consistent I've found here in the city. I would not be surprised if there were better places for fajitas elsewhere but in my research this seemed like the best option. Requests have been missed before in my experience (I recall ordering a certain salsa that never came) and because the waiters seem a bit overwhelmed, it hard to address it before you'd want to eat. Overall, this place will scratch the itch for fajitas, but the service is lacking. I'll probably find myself wanting fajitas again in the future and return, but every time I visit I find myself just a little bit disappointed that a good restaurant is not great.
