    Chicken cheesesteak
    Kai M.

This place has just become my FAVORITE local spot. I've previously heard wonderful things about the food and the consistency of flavors offered so of course I was glad to actually try it for myself. Note that I have not yet been here in person but provided that it is nearby and I heard that the ambiance is great, I won't mind doing a walk to check it out again. I decided to go with the chicken cheesesteak which came with fries and a canned soda. The cost was $13 for the combo and with the flavors and quantity, that was WORTH the price! The chicken cheesesteak that I ordered came with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, provolone and grilled onions. Listen carefully, I did NOT want to stop eating this because the flavors blended so perfectly and the sandwich was simply divine. Laid perfectly on a fresh buttery soft bread, I promise you that if they provided me with a platter of these all week, I wouldn't hesitate the carbs LOL it was that good. French fries, who wouldn't enjoy crinkled cut fries with just the right amount of crisp and salt. Overall, my coworkers said that the customer service is always good-which is a plus! I'll be back to try more items and I'll spread the word that good eats are in Anacostia!

I caught them right before they closed for the day and decided to try something new. The chicken salad sandwhich was loaded ! & the mango, spinach, and pineapple smoothie was I wish the chips and beverages weren't soo overpriced tho

A Neighbourhood spot that is clean fast and delicious. I have a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich with egg a couple of mornings a week.

Love this place. My go-to lunch/carry-out spot in Anacostia. Delicious comfort food, great breakfast, and very friendly service.

A bit overhyped - but still getting 5 stars…read more This place looked super cute & I added to my places to visit while in DC. Unfortunately, it didn't really meet my expectations. The line was incredibly slow, latte was served hot, & food was mediocre. The interior is stunning, bright, & I felt transported to another country. I appreciated all the cute little trinkets that were for sale near the register. I'd probably give them one more visit in case my first one was an off day.

While the shop looks amazing, the coffee was extremely basic. I ordered an iced latte and I could not taste the espresso. The cinnamon Kouign-amann was extremely dry, as was the chocolate chip cookie. When you tried to break the cookie in half it essentially exploded into crumbs. They do have a lot of seating, but there were many single people taking up 4-person tables so it was difficult to find a place for 4 of us to sit. The staff wasn't unpleasant, but they also were not very friendly. They did keep the line moving as fast as they could. Again, the shop is beautiful and bright. The branding on their bags is adorable. Their cutlery is wrapped and there is washi tape with their name on it holding it together. Their drinks and food are served on very nice dishes. I just wish that the coffee and pastries tasted as good as everything looks.

They have a ton of options -- the belgian waffle, french toast, and breakfast potatoes were delicious! The fruit on the side is a nice extra touch. The patio is very nice with lots of umbrellas for shade and cute flower pots. The coffee is always yummy, especially the iced mocha. The baked good on the counter always look good (although they do sell out later in the day!) and I have to come back to try some

We ordered the build your own omelette…read morewith roasted potatoes, french toast with berries, white chocolate chip coconut macadamia cookie, pain au chocolate croissant, blueberry scone, peppermint hot chocolate, and chai tea latte. Total came out to approximately $55. What's hot - Menu. Good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, even possibly vegans. There are sweet and savory options, eggs, french toast, salads, sandwiches, etc... - Quality. Excellent! All 3 of us really enjoyed the food that we ordered. Their french toast and omelettes are delicious. My husband particularly liked the maple syrup that was served with his french toast, because the maple flavor tasted a bit stronger than your average maple syrup. Their pastries are also delicious! Soft, good texture and not too sweet. Given the softness, my best guess is that their sweet treats are recently made. - Service. Pretty good. We did not wait very long for our orders to be ready. The hot foods, like the omelettes, french toast, and drinks, appear to be freshly made. - Price. Good value for money, given the quality and portions. - Location. Convenient location in D.C. However, given the location, be prepared for it to get busy quickly, which means decent lines and wait times. What's not - Interior space. Very tight squeeze inside. There are tables and chairs inside, but their biggest tables can only fit 4 people. If you have children with a stroller or whatever, be prepared to not have room inside. They have outside seating, but that's only conducive to when the weather is warm. This place appears to be popular, which means it can get packed very quickly and seating can be difficult to find. - Acoustics. They play relatively loud music inside, which makes it difficult to have conversations with those you're with. That the interior is small, the music travels easily, which does not help. - Omelette. Even though I liked the flavor of my omelette, it was rather thin. I prefer my omelette to be more weighty/fluffy in texture. Additionally, cheese is not automatically included with the omelette. I ordered mushrooms, red peppers, spinach, and bacon in my omelette. I mistakenly believed cheese was automatically included, but I was wrong. - Parking. Is not easy to find given the location. There is street parking, but it's very difficult to come by. Final Answer Would like to come back, but probably not a first choice given the tight squeeze of the interior. If I do return, would more likely than not order takeaway.

To my surprise it is restaurant week so I was able to try a full 4 course meal for $45! I started with the oysters, which were so fresh and a great way to start my food journey with Maketto. Then I devoured the ginger chicken soup dumplings. For my main I have the drunken fried rice and the chicken fried sandwich (this one is not a part of restaurant week but please grab it. This is the BEST fried chicken sandwich I've had in my life). The rice in the fried rice was soft and so delicious! The server and host were so sweet and attentive. They definitely made our night feel extra special. The inside is intimate, but very spacious. I love the plants and sneaker wall.

I got there about 9:30 and I did have to wait in line, but it moved quicker than I expected. The BEC biscuit breakfast sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I've had in DC. The biscuit was fluffy and the egg was cooked perfectly. It was like an egg cloud. If you want to eat this right away, I'd ask for it warmed up (I didn't realize it comes room temp at first, and I wasn't asked how I wanted it when I ordered). The scallion pancake croissant was also great. My husband enjoyed the ube honeycomb cake, but I felt it needed more ube flavor. I also thought the hojicha latte could've had more flavor - I like my hojicha to have that deep roasty taste, and it just didn't come through enough in this latte. It came unsweetened, so definitely ask for sweetener if that's how you like it. The menu changes every time so check their instagram to see what they'll be offering if you're interested in the bake sale!
