Kimchi Loaded Bulgogi Fries combo #1
    Janet M.

Merch was cute, and the girl behind the counter was super nice and helpful. Since it was our first time, she let us try a few sauces and made suggestions, which we appreciated. The fries were okay, but they felt quite expensive for just fries with toppings. The bulgogi on both orders was extremely sweet, and overall everything leaned very sweet. Even when adding spice, the sweetness from the bulgogi still dominated the flavor. While dining in, someone came in asking about employment. A woman who appeared to be the owner said she worked there, and instead of simply telling him they weren't hiring, she just shooed him away and rushed him out. It was uncomfortable to witness and didn't come across very kindly. Overall, between the overly sweet food and that interaction, the experience left a bit of a bad taste for me.

Best build your own fries concoction I've ever had. Really delicious. It's a bit much but given all the ingredients you get, it pretty fair to ordering loaded fries at a restaurant

    Honey magic spicy fries

I love love love fries! But this place ain't it.. we ordered the honey magic spicy fries and it just doesn't taste good. It's not spicy, nor sweet. The mala mayo we got is not good at all, and doesn't complement the fries either. I'm not sure if it's worth $10, let alone the valet guy trying to harass us for $$$ even when we only wanted takeout. Unfortunately this is a hard pass!

Been here a few times now and I've tried a little bit of everything. Honestly it's a pretty dense meal but it's very tasty. Fries are always fresh and the different sauces are all good. I've tried the beef and the calamari and they were both savory. The service is friendly and they are very helpful. Cute location full of fun decor.

Best Combo #2 Melted Cheese Fried Chicken With Garlic Mayo

One of the more ABSURD food places I've been to recently just based off the decadence alone. This is really some FatBoy flavor and I'm HERE for it. Here are the 3 combos: 1. Fried Chicken with Garlic Mayo and Cheese The Garlic stands out so much and the velvety cheese definitely bring that cheese product Velveeta goodness to the situation without tasting too plastic and bland. Even better when warmed up later. 2. Bulgogi Fries The go-to at every Korean bar food spot that has fries. The meat here is surprisingly good quality and I didn't notice any chewy bits. It was cooked perfectly! And it was PACKED. I opted for to-go boxes because eating out of that cone looked like a nightmare. 3. Fried Chicken with Honey Mustard Powder and Garlic Mayo These ones had a sweeter edge and therefore were my least favorite but it was a nice switch up from the savory garlic cheese fries! The fried chicken turns into basically Chicken Pork Belly. It's wild, chunks of thigh heavily breaded and Gooey. Not in a bad way just melts in your mouth. Like I said, we will be back to try even more lol

    Secret Salt with Corn

This place seems to be newly opened inside a small parking lot that seems to be valet only ($3). There is street parking around so do that if you want to avoid paying to park. There is a good amount of seating inside despite the small space, with some cute fry theme decor and you can order from a computer in front. We built our own fries and it came with 4 sauces of our choosing. We chose truffle mayo, garlic onion mayo, k-pepper mayo, and sweet and spicy sauce. The sauces were all good, but I did find the sweet and spicy to be kind of vinegary. We asked for sauce on the side and staff were nice and accomodating. Our food came out super quickly and when we noticed we were missing one sauce, a staff member quickly fixed the issue. The fries were really flavorful and super crispy, with a decent serving size. The first time we ordered we did the secret salt with corn on top which was delicious. We ended up doing another order with the spicy magic powder which was even better, with some garlic chips. We also did 2 orders of the soteok sotoek and it was made perfectly. The sausage had a snap to its bite and the rice cake was not too chewy or too soft. There was a small amount of heat to it as well. My friend and I are fans and love places with good fries.

Magic Spicy Noodle Dumplings (4pcs) inside is just glass noodles no spice really

Saw this place on tiktok so decided to try it out while up in LA. PARKING LOT IS VERY SMALL AND IT IS VALET FOR $3!! We snagged a spot on the street as we didn't want to pay that. This is a cute spot though with about 3-4 tables. Worker was very kind to us! You can order off the screens which is nice to not have to interact with people if that makes you anxious. It only took like 10 mins or so for the food to come out. It was all nice and hot! The fries comes in like a metal cone to hold it. The toppings are all on the top though so once you eat past it it's just fries. It was about 50$ or so for all this food. Overall good flavor! We were a little disappointed by the dumplings as it was not spicy and we were hoping for a sauce or something inside. It was just bland inside. The fry seasoning though was delicious. The Sotoek was good though the rice cakes were a little too chewy but it was good when eaten together with the sausage.

Amazing find! The place is super cute and the worker was really helpful and friendly. I made my own regular fries with honey butter powder, buldak mayo, pica mayo, and bulgogi. I loved it!!! It was not spicy at all even with the buldak mayo and the honey butter made it a bit sweet but I loved the little acidity of the pica sauce and the bulgogi was amazing. My friend made his fries with truffle mayo, bacon chips and corn cheese. This one was even sweeter but the bacon was nice am crispy, the corn cheese was really good and it was definitely filling. The fries are nice and crispy and hold up very well without getting soggy too quickly. They have an amazing variety of customizable topics, can't wait to try more of their sauces. It does fall a bit on the sweeter side and nothing is really spicy but still worth trying.

I really love the service here. They made sure everything is good with your food and you're ok. I asked for a cup of water but instead gave me a free water bottle. The food was amazing. I asked for well done fries and didn't get it, but the bulgogi and melted cheese mix was good! Cheese pull verified! If you love loaded fries style, this is the place to come and try it! Ambience is like a fast food theme. I like it. Very relaxing also.

First off, it's not fair to rate this place poorly because of the valet situation. Poor owner has nothing to do with whatever the plaza owner decided to do with the parking land. I ordered 2 regular fries: one was honey butter powdered and the other was their spicy magic powder. Both were SO delicious, me and my partner ate everything! The spicy magic powder reminds me of potato corner's chili bbq powder if it were sweeter. They have a variety of sauces that are so yummy (lemon mayo is sooo good) but it seems their sauce selection changes by the day. They didn't have mentaiko the day I went but that gives me an excuse to come back later. I received service and he was a nice Korean owner. Last thing I will say is that the hires may be international students that may not understand English very well, so avoid ordering over the phone if possible. Somehow the order I put on the phone was misunderstood, but I totally respect worker's hustle so it's not a big deal at all. Love to visit again!

    Robert G.

The chicken was not properly covered in the hot and spicy sauce. Moreover, the chicken was so spicy that it wasn't edible. When you have extremely spicy food, it goes into its own category of extra spicy. Their menu did not indicate a spice level. And I love spicy food, but I literally couldn't eat it

FRIES LOOK AMAZING ! Thin not to soggy, just right. Very good amount of seasoning and great flavor as well too.

YUM! I love loaded fries, and Kingfriez specializes in just that! It's like potato corner on steroids. The taste feels unique and the portions are generous--you will definitely leave full. It's a little bit pricey, but the entire store is run by one woman, so I don't mind paying a bit of a premium! Be patient because she truly does it all herself. The bad thing is that you will have to pay $3(?) valet just to park there! Find street parking if you can. I'll be back though because it was too good not to. Take my review with a grain of salt because I've never met a fry I didn't like!

I'm only reviewing it now because I read and saw that it was closing (permanently?) at the end of March 2026, and I wanted to see what stories I had told in my review. Again, I really don't believe I didn't already review Taix, so I think the Yelp gremlins have been up to their dirty work. Even though our family long ago settled on calling it TAY (rhymes with "day"), my mom would sometimes confuse things by calling it TEX or TAYS. Then, when I was hanging out with the inimitable Dave Benitez last week, he called it tah-EE, and I was internally flummoxed but externally silent, because I didn't want to get into an argument about proper Taix pronunciation again, especially when I never really knew how to pronounce it. Taix was an L.A. mainstay and landmark, although its most recent location was its second; the restaurant had "only" been there since the 1960s. (It used to be near Unin Station.) It had such beautiful, elegant dining rooms. When I was a little kid, there were still plenty of oldish places in L.A. that retained some of their charm, but most were run down or at least looked old. Taix felt old, but it didn't look old. I imagine it looked very similar when it opened as it did when it closed. It was a kind of living, breathing piece of the past. It wasn't only from an earlier era, either. It felt like it connected that era with the present. When my parents were in their sixties, I used to joke that when the two of them went out to dinner here, the average age of diners dropped to seventy-eight. Taix always reminds me of formally dressed old men and their blue-haired wives. Now that my parents are in that demographic (but don't look anywhere near their age), it astonishes me just how old that original older crowd was. This was one of those places whose food I never really cared about. It was good. I don't remember what I liked or what I could even eat, but coming here was just an experience. It was also the site of a very memorable birthday party for my uncle, at which his brother-in-law gave a hilarious speech that we still talk about almost twenty years later and which gave said brother-in-law an in-family nickname. Taix plays a major role in The Madonnas of Echo Park, one of my favorite novels, and both the restaurant and that novel both remind me of the Echo Park of my youth, before gentrification did whatever it did and is continuing to do to that once proudly working-class neighborhood. So much of old L.A. is dead, and even the remembrances of the past are short-lived these days. (Bob Hope Airport is now officially Hollywood Burbank Airport, for example.) Taix is gone, to be replaced by overpriced, anonymous housing units. Could it return in a different form? Its farewell sign leads you to believe that it will. And maybe the native Southern Californian in me wants desperately to believe this. So rest up, Taix. We'll all really need a change and a return to normalcy in 2029, whatever that means for the City of Angels.

Go off queen, get your money I guess lmao. Honestly kind of a funny scam to run on a closing establishment Edited to add for owner: Good to know! They are definitely blaming the restaurant for it. They're wearing Taix badges and making up information about Zelle/Venmo quotas set by ownership, so you may want to have a talk with them. I have a first and last name from Zelle if you need it
