Chimek, google it. Let's CHIMEK TONIGHT at Chicken Day LA. Chicken Day LA helps me get into the groove of chimek Now you know it's a vibe and weekly need that must be met with your friends or just with a buddy. The satisfaction of crispy Korean chicken with an iced cold beer, ahhhh! Who discovered this cultural vibe? KOREANS. If ya into K-pop k-dramas, ya know what I am talking about. Who engages in CHIMEK? Everyone as long who can start enjoying an iced cold beverage and some yummy Korean fried chicken. CHIMEK LESSON: KFC = Korean Fried Chicken

    Korean Pepper Sauce Chicken Wings

Chicken had great texture and flavor. Wings were a little small and pricey compared to some other korean fried chicken places we have been to. Here we paid $20 for 10 wings (it came with a small side of coleslaw and a small side of radish). The lady who rang up our order was super nice and the chicken was made pretty quickly, and fresh! We took it to go. We ordered Korean spicy chicken for the flavor, but it tasted more like sweet and spicy. The atmosphere was cute, clean, and simple with some good Kpop music videos playing on the tv. Overall we really enjoyed the flavor of the wings.

This is the sampler: original, sweet & spicy, Korean pepper, honey lemon with small fries.

First time here, came with my sister and let me tell you, it was gooooood! A lot of food for both of us, friendly service, fast and pretty cool place with indoor and outdoor dining.

Tucked in a little mall. Found it by accident on the way to a show at the Wiltern. The service was friendly and informative. She took time to answer all our questions and offered suggestions. The food was delicious. I got chicken and it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Sofa king good. Lots of room inside and the tables were clean and inviting.

I liked it. Had a craving for some KFC (Korean fried chicken) and met up with a friend here. Inside is simple. They have a few tables and there's another small patio area with a few tables. We got the Korean pepper and garlic wings. I liked em. The Korean pepper had a nice spice that doesn't hit until after. The garlic was good too, lighter on sauce. We also got the kimchi fried rice and some fries. The kimchi fried rice was good, had a slight spice to it. Fries were standard. We also got some beer and soju. Service was ok. There was easy underground parking beneath the shopping center. If you got a KFC craving, definitely check them out.

When going into a Korean fried chicken joint, you have to expect to pay a premium for the chicken. Chicken Day is tucked into a small strip mall off of Western. Luckily we went on a slower Sunday night so there was parking on the upper lot. The menu is surprisingly simple and has many offerings. We opted to get the sweet and spicy wings, cabbage salad and the chicken soup. The wing sizes were really huge which justifies the price for the 10 piece. Can't really mess up a cabbage salad and they gave you a lot, but for the price, it seemed excessive. The coup de gras was the chicken soup. A whole chicken, just about the size of a Cornish Game Hen in a mild broth. But the surprising part was the way the chicken was cooked. They stuff the cavity with tons of garlic, what looked to be a chestnut...in the broth itself was a ton of green onions and what looked like a long root of some kind. There was some rice in the broth but the best part was this; as you tear apart the chicken, all of the garlic, green onions and chicken skin create a stronger broth taste. It got better as you reached the bottom of the soup bowl. Bathrooms 10/10 Ambiance 9/10 Service 9/10 Food 9/10 Cleanliness 9/10 Value 8/10 Will I Return? Possibly...but just for the chicken soup!

I love this place because of the honesty of people works there. My old friend from school flew from DC and he wanted to go out to lunch so we went there. Parking can be bit challenging but it well worth it. I was absent minded today because I forgot to drink my Celsius drink. Well the lunch was lovely and my gizzards were crispy. I left my Louis Vuitton wallet there by accident since my friend picked up the check. When I was in Pasadena, I realized my wallet was missing. Then I called this business and the lady said she has it and told me not to worry and take your time. And I went back and there it was. Cash & cards everything was in tact. I really appreciate the honesty of people works there. I recommend this restaurant, 100%!!

Food was awesome and the service was great. I had the half chicken 10 piece sweet and spicy and lemon honey. Would I go back? Yes, absolutely

    12 soy garlic drumsticks

Cannot emphasize how amazing the chicken was and how absolutely juicy it was. So incredibly tender and juicy and perfectly crispy/crunchy with a nice thin batter. Definitely coming again and definitely recommend giving this place a try, much better than bb.q chicken. We tried the soy garlic drumsticks and it was so flavorful and delightfully garlicky. We also tried the carbonara which I enjoyed. It wasn't quite an Italian-style carbonara, but still very delicious and I really liked that the sauce wasn't too heavy. Linguini noodles were perfectly al dente.

The scallop pancake has such an amazing crunch, and paired so well with the slightly sweet and rich mentaiko sauce. My favorite bite was hands down the uni bibimbap. It was so rich and decadent and the sweet shrimp mixed with the creamy uni was an absolute textural dream. I'm devastated it took me this long to try Danbi. I am very pleasantly surprised. It was a cute and vibey restaurant, but be prepared to pay for valet.

The food here is definitely more creative than your standard Korean restaurant. A lot of familiar Korean flavors and dishes are presented in a more modern, elevated way. Scallop Pancake -- 7.5/10 Think scallion pancake, but with scallops. I really enjoyed this, especially because they don't skimp on the scallops. My only complaint is that the batter is a little too thick, and combined with how oily it is, the dish gets filling pretty quickly. This is definitely something I'd recommend ordering with a larger group so everyone can have a couple pieces rather than trying to tackle the whole thing. The dipping sauce is chef's kiss. Uni Bibimbap -- 9/10 My favourite dish of the night. All the different ingredients work together incredibly well. Every bite is balanced and flavourful, and honestly, I could probably eat an entire bowl of this myself. Beef Tartare -- 7.5/10 I love beef tartare, and this was no exception. My main complaint is that I found it a little lacking in flavuor compared to some of the tartares and yukhoe I've had at other Korean restaurants. The bone marrow is a cool addition, although I think it contributes more to the presentation and interactive aspect than the actual flavour of the dish. If you don't eat the tartare relatively quickly, the bone marrow starts to solidify and you end up with little pieces of hardened fat, which I found a bit unappealing. Honey Butter Chips -- 5/10 Not bad, but personally I wouldn't order these again. The honey butter sauce started becoming a little too rich and sickening for me after a few chips.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

Even when we ordered the food, the server said "that's it?" as if she was offended that we didn't order more food (lower sales?) I'm not sure if we misunderstood her attitude but that's kind of how it felt like. The quality and size went down and it was just... not good. This used to be my #1 spot for cold noodles but our other fav place was closed today so we decided to come here. As you can see, the size of the cold noodles became smaller. Everything was packed in this small bowl which made it harder to eat. I think they changed the noodles they use because it wasn't doing anything texture wise. It used to be chewy and had a good buckwheat flavor. The broth tasted.. like water with a splash of bone broth. The quality of galbi was also a disappointing as I feel like it's became less and the meat was burnt with more fat/chewy bits. The leek pancake was ok but again, comparing it to my picture from January, it was bigger in size and more dough-y. Service was decent previously but it felt a bit cold today. Again, super bummed because we still love this place but I probably won't be ordering their combo again. You can see in my pictures how often we used to order the cold noodles from here and you can compare the quality.
