This place was interesting because it was part of Bulgogi Hut so I was a bit confused when trying to look for the place inside. I had been craving authentic KFC and came across Chicken hut on yelp during a drive through Ktown. Overall I really liked it -- the portions could be better, the banchan could also be also be better (please see pictures below) and the fried rice was a bit on the oilier side but nonetheless still a solid meal. I just didn't feel too great afterwards. However, if you are looking for solid KFC in ktown, I think this is a great place to try!

Since I was already dining at Bulgogi Hut, I figured I would try some Chicken Hut, which debuted during the pandemic-enforced dining shutdown and turned out to be very popular! I ordered wings with original and sweet chili...well, what I THOUGHT was original turned out to be soy garlic. Anyways, both were really good. Of the two flavors, I liked the sweet chili a little more than the soy garlic. Batter was great for both. The sweetness of sweet chili complemented the batter really well. Soy garlic had a very unique flavor to it, I'm not mad that I got this instead of original. Since our Bulgogi Hut server Sandra basically just added this Chicken Hut order on top of my meal, I just paid for it as part of my lunch. I'll give a pass for not hearing my order correctly, the music is loud in here and quite frankly she was pretty busy serving us. Next time though, I want the original.

My sister and I got the whole chicken combo. The food was 10/10. The chicken falls off the bone easily. The fried chicken is crunchy. The spicy radish is good, not too spicy or bland. I was surprised to receive a bigger portion of fries. The fries are crispy and lightly salted. I like the Soy Garlic Chicken the most. Customer service was great. Our server checked on us a couple of times while we were there and made sure we had everything we needed. When ordering you have to say that you're there for the chicken because they'll assume you're there for the kbbq.

I came in for lunch but instead was offered a job application. Lol On a serious matter though. The original fried chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Pair it with the sweet-heat and you have a good tasty chicken. The spicy fried rice cake was also good. The sauce added the needed flavor to be worth it for the price. Overall, incredible customer service and enjoyed the food, it was well worth. Will be coming back in the near future.

Amazing service, the food was phenomenal I honestly was craving Korean fried chicken & this restaurant popped up it's definitely a hidden gem every order is made to order so the chicken comes out pipping hot nice golden & crispy , and if you order the wings you won't regret it is glazed & tossed to perfection!!! It is sooo good I highly recommend the sweet chili sauce it is mouthwatering good okay !!! This place shocked me how good it was I came back twice in the same day the inside is really nice as well although I didn't dine I came inside to purchase a macaron ice cream strawberry it was so goood it took me back its definitely homemade ice cream and the macaron was sooo bomb if your in the area this establishment is a must try it's worth every single dollar you will not regret at all !!!! Korean Fried Chicken is a 10/10

Good place in Koreatown, located on the ground floor of an office block. It was a bit confusing to us because the sign we saw most prominently read "Bulgogi Hut." Luckily we asked and were assured that it was also the Chicken Hut. I tried the wings because I love chicken wings and while they were quite good, my companion's bento box cost roughly the same and he got much more food. Will be back to sample the soy sauce-garlic wings. Also, this place stays open relatively late (10 p.m.?), which was a plus for us. I would also be curious to try their AYCE barbecue but you have to be with the right company for that, and not for less than an hour prior to the official closing time. I actually would give this 3.75 stars but I can't seem to adjust my personal rating up above. I take off a quarter of a point because it's a bit difficult to find and because the vents were on--understandably, to keep the scents of grilling meats and garlic and kimchee moving along (there are barbecue grills at each table). But on this particular January night when we visited, we felt very cold. I joked with my companion that the restaurateurs apparently wanted to achieve the feel of Seoul in the winter!

$27 ($or $29, as insisted by the hostess and the manager) worth of dry-ass cardboard refuse chicken

Thanks for ruining my perfectly fine Sunday afternoon, Chicken Hut. I ordered half & half - sweet chili & soy garlic. The meager amount was already a minus when I opened it - I ended up only having 3 pieces of the sweet chili, because there were more bone and marrow than actual meat. The chili paste used is actually not bad. Not great, but passable, a bit too sour, and not enough spice and sweetness. The meat, whatever little amount that is present, had very little juice to it. Made me feel like they were too cheap to use the actually tasty parts, not leftover scrap. The pickup process was 30 minutes longer than it needed to be. We were pleasantly surprised with a price tag of $28 and some change, when the menu that is on Yelp read $21.99. "Sorry, price recently went up," the hostess said, as she showed us the updated menu, with a price of $24. We explained to the hostess that $24 + tax does not come out to $29. "Oh sorry, I charged you for the wrong items!" Ok, that's fine, except she disappeared to the back for 10 minutes (while the line for Bulgogi Hut kept growing, lol). When she didn't come back, we went in to look for her, and our chicken. She informed us that the new total would be $26.xx, and we handed her $40. She handed back $11, and went on to insist that her math was correct. All right, different people have different challenges, I get it. Here's where service actually became a problem for a to-go pick up order. The manager also came out, and insisted that the transaction was correct. To quote her, word for word, "What is the problem?" The problem is that Chicken Hut apparently can't be bothered to have a cash register, which would do the math for mathematically challenged employees. We ultimately got our money, and our long delayed chicken, and I got to leave a nice review for a respectable establishment, so I guess we can call it even.

This is an overdue review - I'm a huge fan of Bulgogi Hut, been going there with my family since forever. They've got great quality meats and you really couldn't beat their price for AYCE. And their corn cheese is soooooo good. I came to try this place because I saw their post on SAT about how they were struggling during covid and they started doing korean fried chicken. We went for a late lunch last August of 2020. Upon arrival, they checked your temperature and seated you out in front of their restaurant (every table was sanitized prior to our arrival, all tables separated by 6ft and via plexiglass as well). We ordered their korean fried chicken (soy garlic and I think a spicy flavor as well), some korean street tacos, and a bulgogi bibimbap. Their korean fried chicken was surprisingly really good. It was crunchy, it was sweet, juicy, the batter wasn't too thick and overall great wings in general. Their korean street tacos (although they didn't look like much) they were pretty bomb as well! The bulgogi bibimbap was where it was at! For about $13, this thing was HUGE! And it was still very hot and steaming when they brought it out! I love how crispy the bottom rice gets on their stone pot. Very very delicious and definitely had plenty of leftovers for dinner that night!!

I had high hopes for this place as the reviews were stellar. I don't know if they just had an off day with my order or what, but I didn't have the best experience. Here are the pros and cons if you don't have the patience to read long reviews. Pros: -the sauces on the chicken were delicious -they give you A LOT OF DIPPING SAUCES Cons: -the actual wait time was a lot longer than what they said over the phone -the chicken is not the best quality (there's a lot of fat and weird stuff that's not meat) -they forgot things in my order -the radish isn't the delicious Korean white radish -the bacon wrapped rice cakes were disgusting. They were not only cold and hard, they used poor quality bacon and even when heated it tasted nasty Long version is below. First, I placed the order over the phone at around 12:10. I ordered: half sweet chili, half garlic chicken, bacon wrapped rice cakes, and the macaroni salad. The person on the phone recommended the bacon wrapped rice cakes and told me they were delicious so I was excited. She told me it'll take about 20 minutes, so I headed over there by exactly 12:30 (I don't like to be late and I don't like to wait). When I got there, the server told me that my order wasn't ready yet. I paid in advance and I just waited there, since I thought it would only be a short wait. Suddenly, a bunch of people started showing up to pick up their orders, but pretty much none of their orders were ready yet, and a huge line formed. After about 12:45, I asked the server how much longer mine would be, and she said that it shouldn't take much longer. Finally at 12:50ish, a whole 20 minutes extra (40 minutes total), my order was finally out. Normally I'd be more angry about the extra wait since I HATE WAITING, but whatever...I just left because I was excited about my food. When I got home.... Disappointment. They forgot to pack my macaroni and the bacon wrapped rice cakes were COLD and HARD. The server over the phone also told me that I would get 4 sides of radish (2 for each type of chicken) but I only got 2. :/ Side note about the radish too--it's not the delicious square white radish that they have on the website and that comes with most Korean fried chicken. It's spicy radish that's chopped into thin slices (like cucumbers in sushi hand rolls. Diced? Idk I'm not a cook). I ignored the rice cakes for now since I wanted to try the chicken. The sweet chili was a little sickeningly sweet and drippy, but whatever, I think they were supposed to be that way. The garlic was actually the best. They need to patent that garlic seasoning cuz it's really savory and delicious. The bad thing though, was that there was a lot of fat and weird spots in the chicken. I had to spit out a lot of what I was chewing because of the weird fatty/other mouth feel. I finally tried the bacon wrapped rice cakes... And I wish I hadn't. I tried them 2x: once as they were and once heated. The first time I tried it I had to spit it out. The bacon smelled old and the rice cakes were hard and disgusting. I heated it up, hoping maybe it would be better once they were heated. It wasn't better. If anything it was worse- the rice cakes literally turned into glue and it was mixed in with the grease from the bacon, making it taste like chewy, stinky lard. Anyway, I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager regarding my experience. They apologized and refunded my money for the rice cakes and the macaroni. All in all....idk if I'd return again. :/ I'm not like... Angry... But I'm just disappointed that I chose this place instead of waiting for GolTong chicken. :(

Delicious fried chicken. This is inside Bulgogi Hut and was pretty empty during lunch on a weekday. The original fried chicken comes in 8 pieces is well-marinated and the skin is super crispy. Loved the thin fries and the sliced pickled radish that came with my chicken.

First time getting chicken hut (I received a flyer with my Bulgogi hut order- amazing spot) I ordered on Postmates. My order included oneone whole fried chicken, 1/2 fried chicken and Bulgogi kimchi fried rice. It was not enough for 4 people. The quality was good! I was impressed by the unique taste of the sauces (bbq, honey mustard, and spicy Mayo). This is finger food... like an appetizer. Overall, delicious but pricey depending on the quantity you get. Like my order would've been enough for 2-3 people.

AMAZING chicken! We did have a little trouble finding this place. It is the same as Bulgogi Hut! Overall the experience was very enjoyable. Great portions and lots of flavors to choose from. The food was made very fresh and came with a generous side of picked radish. I tried the garlic and sweet and spicy sauce and both were very good (I preferred the garlic a bit more). The staff was kind, very little interaction overall and took a while to wave someone over for the check. I would rate food 5/5, service 4/5 and environamnt 4/5 (a bit dim and loud so much harder to have a conversation but imagine like bar environment. Not a bad thing but just not what we were expecting)

There is sometimes street parking but the availability is rough, it's tough to park, and even one of the meters we ended up at just didn't work. They only charge a $5 cash service charge though, which isn't bad. We were lucky to be seated right away, even in a packed restaurant. The restaurant has a surprisingly modern design, and is comfortable for as small as it is. We were quickly served their signature kimchis and barley rice. The kimchi, particularly the yeolmu (young summer radish) kimchi, has a unique flavor profile well suited to their food. We ordered 2 bowls of their plain kalgooksu, 1 bibim milmyun, and 1 tteokbokki. The food came out fairly quickly. The kalgooksu was as expected the star of the show. The anchovy broth brings a savory complexity that seems impossible for a soup made from just dried fish and a few other ingredients. It even has a rich, almost thick, quality to it that is surprising for a fish broth. Their noodles, the titular kalgooksu, have the signature irregularity and chew of knife cut noodles. I appreciate the vegetables that always come in kalgooksu, like potato, pumpkin, and zucchini, which offer an earthy heartiness to the light soup. My only complaint is that the potato is in huge irregular chunks, and is barely cooked, though I feel like I have had this issue with many of the kalgooksu bowls I've had over the years. The bibim milmyun was solid. I think that I prefer the texture and flavor of naengmyeon buckwheat noodles, but the milmyun, which are made with mostly wheat flour, still provide a satisfying chew. The sauce tasted bright and fresh, especially with a splash of added vinegar. It also came with a small side portion of spicy pork and some rice paper to wrap. The tteokbokki was the one let down of the meal. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much out of tteokbokki at all restaurant like this whose specialty is essentially the opposite. I ordered the tteokbokki as a "safe pick" for a picky eater in the group. It turned out to be a bit mediocre in our opinion, and that friend ended up enjoying their kalgooksu anyways. If you're looking to try this dish, it's definitely one of if not the best I've had in Southern California, so I'd totally recommend it. I'll also warn to steer clear of the Garden Grove restaurant of the same name and specialty. I think it's a disappointing mimicry of this place.

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. The chips had no warmth to them and were slathered with decently flavorful honey butter that pooled to the bottom. 4.2/5 Mushroom bimibap - A very balanced dish with cohesive elements. Wish there were more mushrooms as they of course were the best part. The chili sauce was solid but the dish benefitted when we added another half portion of it and mixed it in. 4.4/5 Waygu - A decent flavor (definitely needed the flakey salt), portion and a nice medium rare cook, wall to wall. Good hostess. The steak took longer than expected to come out? Perhaps the kitchen messed it up and had to start over. Either that or maybe the waiters were busy. Or maybe it just takes a while to make it. Not sure. The waitress did the job competently but nothing above that. Overall, definitely not Michelin level service. 4.4/5 Ambiance A little too loud and it affected the entire vibe because I had to raise my voice to speak with the waitress. It became easier to just use nods and thumbs up. Like Cobis, a very modern and upscale restaurant that is hampered by lighting that is too dark. Pictures turned out good because I used another phone's flash. Just a little more light would be so much of an improvement without losing the romantic intent. Bathroom was average. 4.5/5 Overall, I had a solid meal that left my mood elevated. The service or food weren't as good as Cobis, Barsha, Ammatoli, or even Sonoratown - all top LA restaurants, but still worthy of a experience and I may return. 4.5/5 I would highly recommend Chois in San Diego as an extremely similar modern Korean fusion restaurant that also had better food, service, and ambiance. That place was 5/5 in every way.

Next came the main attraction: the Bossam Plate, featuring simmered and cooled pork belly sliced to perfection. When you wrap all the other ingredients together, they create the perfect bite. Just after the Bossam Plate hits the table, a bubbling cauldron of Kimchi JJigae (Kimchi Stew) follows behind just in time to help wash down the delectable bites of bossam. Don't forget to order some rice because you'll need something to soak up the stew which turns the rice into a whole meal by itself. The service was jovial and welcoming, and like other Korean establishments, they have a handy-dandy button that jolts the attention of every server working whenever you're in need of service. The small space is very cozy, just the way I like it when I'm visiting with my loved ones. They don't have an extensive menu, just the OG staple items, but I feel the taste has improved over the years. I wish Kobawoo were closer to where I live, or I would be here this weekend, but perhaps it's a good thing we're so far apart.

Very small kimchi maybe one or two bites. Three orders that I'm surprised that they give such a small amount of banchan. How can establishment justify this high priced meal for such small portions? God and I drove all the way from South Bay, stuck in traffic for almost 1 1/2 hrs of this. Maybe this is the type of place you should dine in only?? Do not ever do take out here! The food in general was just ok. Nothing special and Kimchi soup was very salty. Threw all 3. Wow, what a waste of money. Very disappointing... I guess I won't be coming here ever again.

We also got an additional order of LA kalbi for some protein. The meat quality was good but I felt like the meat was not marinated long enough and so the flavor was a little bit lacking. If only it just sat in the marinade for a couple more hours, I think this would have been perfect. The tofu soup was not my favorite, to be very honest. There was some flavor in there that made it smell like a stinky towel. Very different from other soondubu soup places and unfortunately not for me. Everything else we had was excellent and I would definitely come back again just for the barley rice and banchan. Service was quick and servers were nice. We also came at 3pm on Saturday so there was no wait. Recommended!

It's a lot of food for the price ($35 pp at this writing). While the minimum order is for 2 people, we've tried sharing the 2-people order among 3 and it worked for us, with addition of a couple of other items from the menu. The Korean BBQ beef is at par with most other nice restaurants in K town; their marinated crab was delicious! Service is okay - given how busy they are! Most servers are not very conversant in English so a little patience would help you get the right things you need. Nice and unique vibe with Korean handicraft items and art work on display (and for sale, I believe).

In fact, we regularly brought visitors here. They raved about how good the spare ribs were and even insisted that their last meal before LA should be at Ham Ji Park.  Here's my belated review of what I consider the best spare ribs in LA. From the moment the Korean-style spare ribs arrived at the table, it was clear this was a dish worth savoring. Each rib bore a beautifully charred exterior--deeply caramelized without a hint of bitterness--offering that irresistible smoky aroma the moment it was placed before us. The glaze was nothing short of spectacular. A perfect balance of sweet and spicy, it clung to the meat with a glossy sheen that promised flavor in every bite. There was just enough heat to make your taste buds sit up and pay attention, but it never overwhelmed the deeper, richer notes of the sweet components. But what truly set these ribs apart was the texture. Beneath the charred surface lay meat so tender it practically fell off the bone with the gentlest tug of a fork. Each bite was juicy and succulent, the result of careful cooking and a respect for quality ingredients. Ham Ji Park, you will be missed. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the food.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
