My wife and I dined in on Friday 4/8 at 4:30 PM and ordered 20 wings for $33 plus a few sides. After we finished eating, we saw a sign that said, "$1 wings Friday - Sunday, must dine in." The reason we didn't see it earlier was because the side we walked in from didn't mention the $1 wings promotion, while the other side did. We walked back in and asked why we didn't get the deal, and the cashier told us, "Sorry, there's nothing can do. Your server lett, but here's 15% off," which came from a stack of cards sitting by the register where anyone could grab one. If there were terms and conditions, like having to specifically mention the promotion, certain hours the deal applied, or other restrictions, I would completely understand. The issue is that none of that was mentioned on the sign, and nobody informed us about the promotion while ordering. From a customer perspective, the inconsistent signage and lack of communication made the whole situation disappointing. It honestly left a bad taste in our mouths afterward. Let's get one thing straight off the bat, I'm a sucker for a breaded chicken wing and since I was too lazy to leave the house on Sunday night, I figured ordering some Chimmelier off postmates was a good idea and I'm certainly glad I did. I'll be honest here, the prices on the app has turned me off a few times from ordering, but thanks to a "buy 8 wings, get 2 wings free" being a deal, but it also having a "buy one get one free" sale at the same time had my tummy tingling in all sorts of ways (the good kinds, I swear). So after settling on ordering 10 of the plain chicken wings, 10 of the Yang'Yum' as well as an order of french fries, I patiently waited for the food to arrive. After maybe 45 minutes or so, my order was dropped off and the wings were still pretty hot, and boy oh boy, did I did it right away. First I tried the plain wings and thought both the breading and the meat itself were done very well (I also took advantage of the sauce for the french fries and dunked the wings instead). The star of the show was the Yang'Yum' wings though, these things tasted so dang good I'm practically drooling just thinking about them five days later. Oh, and let's not forget the french fries, they were pretty standard but still had great flavour. Overall, I will absolutely be returning to Chimmelier in the future. Cool spot the kids found after the book festival. It's small parking lot with two space parking in one spot. Not very welcoming but You order through a tablet. They brought the food to us. It's fresh and very crunchy chicken it was moist and soft. I got a side of rice and corn. White rice was so good my daughter ate it all haha. The corn had good flavor though it was cold. I got the original flavor to try my son got the garlic and that was delicious I wish I would've gotten it. Ordered 2 orders of the wings (60), 4 orders of the drums and thighs (64) with a combo of original, soy garlic and spicy chili chicken accompanied with sauces and radishes for a going away party at work. Manager Daniel was a pleasure to work with and gave me a discount on these very expensive pieces of chicken. Not sure if the hour it took to pickup and deliver the goods affected the crispiness. One of the attendees had expected the chicken to be crispy and they weren't while another expected more taste, but she didn't use the sauce. You can't please everyone. Was really craving some Korean fried chicken and had Chimmelier on my list for years, so finally decided to give it a try! My husband and I came around 11:15am, shortly after they opened so the parking lot was empty and parking wasn't an issue. There is some seating outside for you to enjoy your food. We ordered a 10-piece order of wings in the sweet gochujang flavor and a side of kimchi fried rice. The wings were delicious, flavorful, saucy and so crispy! We loved them. Seating is limited, a high-top with a few stools and a couple of improvised two-person tables. Food - OMFG Wings (8.8): Super crispy with tender chicken. The seasoning tastes like spicy ramen powder. Very mild heat, but packed with flavor. Not too overwhelming. Good on its own. - Honey Butter Wings (8.5): Sweet with a hint of garlic. Also very crispy. A lot more oily tho. - Fries (8.1): Okay seasoning but didn't taste like much. They weren't salty at all, which would have helped. Much better with the sauces. The kimchi thousand island was really good, and the ranch tasted creamy and authentic, not store-bought. - Shrimp Toast (8.0): A popular item, so I was excited to try. My first shrimp toast ever, but it was way too oily. The bread had a nice crunch, but the filling was bland and tasted mostly of oil. The dipping sauce helped, but the dish itself wasn't a highlight. I think offering it in smaller portions (2-3 pieces) would make more sense, because more than that is too much. Or even have it as part of a combo. - Tteokbokki: I ordered the Yum Yam since I heard the Rose tasted like marinara. The sauce was overly sweet, like straight gochujang. Texture was fine, but I wish they had a spicier option since they already have the rose. Overall, I'd only come back for the chicken. The portion sizes are frustrating. The cheapest combo is $15, same as the 4-piece wings, and the popcorn chicken is $20 so we didn't get to try that. I wish there was a smaller cheaper option to get to try more. You can't mix and match, so you're stuck with just one flavor unless you're in a big group. Definitely bring more people if you want to try a variety without overspending. Service Even though you order from the iPad, the worker inside was friendly and answered our questions. But when our food came, there was a fly on the chicken. I get that these things can happen, but it definitely kills your appetite. We told them, and they replaced the dish, brought it directly to our table (instead of calling it from the window), and included extra rice and sauces. I was craving some solid, battered Korean fried chicken so I checked out Chimmelier at the recommendation of my friend. Turns out they converted their ktown/westlake location to take-out only since they opened other dine in locations around LA. There are nevertheless some tables and a high top area to eat your food. I got the OG original chicken (dark meat). I liked how it was breaded and fried nicely, but I wish the batter was just a tad more seasoned or salty. The thigh was pretty juicy and tender, but the drumsticks were slightly overcooked. The shrimp toast featured tasty shrimp sandwiched between fried bread. It did feel a little too oily by the second piece. We also got the kimchi fried rice which was solid with the seasoning and savory kimchi. Per my friend however it use to be much more umami with their talo. I do wish there was some sort of seaweed or green onions to balance out the flavors. It was easy to order via the kiosk and food didn't take too long. Parking in the mall is available. I wonder if their chicken would be different at another location! read more

I called the business more times than I can count to ask about a few ingredients as my friend is allergic and they didn't answer me and they hung up. I am genuinely worried for the restaurant industry in LA. Hear me out. I've been to Chimmelier more than a handful of times--maybe 7 or 8 over the last few months. One time I went twice within a 4-day period, and the staff recognized me. I say this to note that I am not just a one-time patron who is being picky or unreasonable. Sometimes the chicken comes out inconsistent, with partial seasoning on the chicken itself, but I'm willing to attribute it to an off day. This latest experience was more than a hiccup. When I brought the food home, I could not believe how tiny the wings were. I say with absolute certainty that they were much, much smaller than on my last visit in October. It was a joke--basically kid's-size wings. I had no idea shrinkflation works even on chicken wings. One would think they would be fairly uniform in size, but I guess that's how you drive the weight down while serving the same number of pieces. On top of this, the wings were not cooked properly. I ordered soy garlic, honey butter, and gochujang, and it seemed like half or more of the seasoning was missing on almost every piece. This isn't the first mishap, as I mentioned earlier, but this time was especially egregious. It felt like I was just eating unflavored fried chicken. So now we have poor quality control and smaller portions. At $54 after tax for 24 baby wings, it is way overpriced at this point. If you're going to cut costs by serving smaller portions, at least ensure your fried chicken is evenly cooked, not just that flavoring is applied to half the chicken! Going back to my original point about being worried for the restaurant industry: This type of stuff is becoming more common in my dining experiences--smaller portions, inconsistent execution, high prices--but this took it to another level of bad, warranting this review. I cannot see how diners will continue to pay these high prices for such inconsistent/low-quality food and small portion sizes. It is simply unsustainable. I normally give two or even three chances even when I have a meh experience. Unfortunately, I don't believe the problems described here are simply due to staff turnover or being slammed with orders. first of all i've loved the food here and me and my partner have been going for closer to two years now & we've just had our first really bad experience it's not the cheapest to get so we order sparingly and our go to is the Large popcorn chicken box. usually the portion is huge for the both of us and it ends up being dinner or lunch for the next day as well (or sometimes we split it between 4 people and it's still USUALLY enough food!) today when we ordered it as a splurge & the box we received just barely and carefully covered the bottom,, rather than being the FULL box it usually is. i've included a picture (after we each had a small piece) of all the chicken we got for over $40 !! This was my first Korean corndog, something that has been on my foodie bucket list for a while. So I am a bit of a newb when it comes to this. But I feel like my bar has been set pretty high after this first taste. I got the potato encrusted corndog, half and half with half hot dog and half cheese, ketchup on top. A corndog is already decadent in a fair-food kind of way, and this was even more so. I would happily order this over and over again. This is a new er Korean fried Chicken spot on the east side of koreatown. Honestly, it seemed kind of like a ghost kitchen or did not have the nicest exterior and is in a kind of shady part of the neighborhood. That being said, there is plenty of parking because there is almost no one there and the food itself was pretty great. I wouldn't expect to eat there and be prepared to take things home, but other than that it's totally worth stopping by for a fried chicken sandwich or a half dozen wings. You can order through a simple door/window, a tablet, or online. While there's some outdoor seating, it's very makeshift. The parking lot does usually have a pretty bad odor, but that's not the restaurant's fault. So takeout is pretty much required. If you can look past that, you're gonna get some super good KFC. Crispy, juicy, and a ton of flavor. They offer a solid variety of sauces and styles, and I've pretty much enjoyed every one I've tried. Fair portions for the price too. read more

Tried this place for the first time with my friends and we ordered for takeout but decided to just eat there since we arrived early for pickup and got hungry. This is a super low key small restaurant that has some high bench tabletop and then 2 tables with 4 seats each. The funny thing is that you're sitting on top of this makeshift seats which are made out of Home Depot gallons with cushions place on top. Be aware! You can get your finger caught accidentally if you're trying to lift and seat at the same time!! The staff is pleasant and will bring out your food as it becomes ready. You basically grab your own water from the water station and they give you cups as well as utensils. If you order on the spot online, there is a large order screen. FOOD: - we ordered the garlic soy fried chicken wings and the dry rub chicken tenders - both were tasty - the corn cheese was way more cheesy than expected -- need more corn - it's also very salty - shrimp toast was good - better if you use the sauce to dip - ttkeokbokki - very chewy - way chewier than I'd like - but not spicy and otherwise tasty - but a small portion only Because fried chicken can be super greasy I did wish they had a wash station for your hands. Unfortunately they do not. PARKING: is difficult if you come during busy hours as they have a lot of people coming in and out or waiting for takeout orders and delivery orders.
