I was in a room facing the street, not all that noisy, but if you aren't used to the sound of cars driving by, this might irritate you. Bed was comfortable enough. Decorations remind me of a guestroom at ones grandparents house. If you are expecting a 5 star place, then you will be highly disappointed.

The decor in the room looked like it came from a second hand shop. In the 1980s. You could feel EVERY spring in that bed. The lady who runs the place routinely wakes you up at 8am for breakfast by knocking loudly on your door, repeatedly and yelling loudly that it's breakfast time, over and over until you get up. Even on Saturday and Sunday mornings. She also stomps around, up and down the steps, slams doors, rattles dishes and generally makes as much noise as she possibly can. At 8am. That place was SUCH a bummer. I've been in Ireland for a month, scheming ways to stay forever. My weekend stay there was the first time I wished I could go home. Awful.

I then found this place online and decided to give it a go. I wish I found this place sooner. From the get--go, I knew we found a special place. When checking in, my Grandad asked the Owner what time breakfast was.. She then asked him, "What time do YOU want breakfast?!". Wow-that level of personalisation stuck out to me immediately. My Grandad had the most comfortable, warm and enjoyable stay. His room was super clean and very comfy. He had his own bathroom, and the place was kitted out with a television, hairdryer and toiletries. My Grandad said his breakfasts were so yummy. He had options of full english, cereals and fruit. The whole B+B has this traditional, homely vibe. Family photos of days gone by are on the walls, and there are book shelves where guests can help themselves. The B+B is situated a few mins walk from McDonalds, Pizza Places and Tesco (a grocery store). So if you need anything, you don't need to go far. The City Centre is right by, which is ideal because I don't drive. Bernie, the Owner was so warm, helpful and amazing. It was raining during my Grandad's stay which limited what we could do and see. I don't drive, and ON HER OWN, she offered to drive us through Phoenix Park, so we can experience it. She advised that it's better to see the place in a car-She was right! And she even drove us past the Guinness Storehouse, giving us the history of the area and insider knowledge that you wouldn't find on wikipedia. Mind you, she did this out of the goodness of her heart. Again, where else will you see this level of personalization? Really going above and beyond! Bernie is also super knowledgeable and gives the best advice on which attractions to see, which are worth paying for, and not just trying to extort you for money-and even the history behind certain buildings/monuments. It's no surprise that my Grandad asked her for her business card, so that he can recommend her to everyone back home in the UK. I am happy because I have peace of mind that my Grandad (and other family from abroad) will always have a great place to stay at, when they visit me. I can't recommend this place enough. The value you receive is not reflected in the price. I would pay triple than what is charged. Thank you Bernie! Covers were thick, there was accommodation to take care of your clothes, ect. That's the plus side of aparthotels. You're traveling & you can practice some of your habits (like cooking, cleaning, grooming) it's traveling without compromise. There was a communal locker offered to store our valuables: it was the pantry, which they secured with a lock. So you get the basics, for a good price. That's quite okay, isn't it?

Finding a Dublin Hotel that would accommodate 4 people was no easy task, which is why I happily…read morebooked a "family room" at the Clifden when I saw they could accommodate us. The hotel was a little hard to find at first, the taxi drive got Gardiner Place confused with Gardiner Street, and the signage outside is not huge and mostly promotes their carpark. We arrived early and they were able to hold our luggage for us until we could check in at 3 PM. The luggage storage was not secure at all, it was just piled up next to the front desk. After checking in at 3 PM, we were given a room on the first floor. The room itself was pretty big and had two twin beds and a full bed (two twins pushed together), a bathroom with a shower, a table with chairs, and a closet. The set up was kind of weird- the big bed between the two twins. Being located on the first floor was horrible. Our door was right across from the front desk and we could hear every hello, goodbye, and anything in between. The decorations were nice and everything appeared clean- except for the hat we found sitting under the heater from the last guest. The bathroom and tiny shower could also seriously use a cleaning- especially the floors. Breakfast could be purchased at 7 euros a person. I personally didn't love it, but my boyfriend did. There was a small buffet and a menu you could order from- all included. The location was great- and only a 10 minute walk to the city center. The street and surround area is full of other "guest houses" that are very similar. If you are checking this hotel it's worth it to look into accommodations listed as bed and breakfasts, hostels, or guest houses. My biggest issue was some of the staff. The one front desk worker was beyond unfriendly- it can't hurt to crack a smile when guests walk in the front door. She was rude when we arrived, pushing two of the guests into the room while I paid. She had an attitude and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. All in all, not a bad place but not sure I would book here again.

Having been to Italy and Greece, my wife and I were mentally prepared for the typical European basic room...remind yourself you ain't in Amurr'ca anymore and go with the flow. PROs: -Pretty close 5-10min walk to Dublin's center and attractions -Only 165 euro for 2 nights Fri-Sun -Friendly manager and breakfast lady. -Overall room was clean and relatively spacious for 2. -Nice breakfast room, and a filling Irish breakfast(sans "pudding") each morning. -Lots of places to eat nearby. -Cheap 20ish euro cab ride from Dublin Airport, especially if you're group is 3-4. CONs: -Can be a quite a long walk back depending on your daily plans...we walked 11+ miles total our first full day in Dublin! -Older building, furniture, and facilities...the photos were probably taken 5-10 years ago. - Old, tiny bathroom and a tinnier shower...I would soap the walls and just dance around. Just kidding! Pro Tip: American couples, like us, may want to book twin beds instead of a double bed...an Irish double is smaller than an American full. Luckily, our room just happened to come with 3 beds!

Knew little about Dublin when I was booking a room so I did a lot of research online. The Parkway…read morewas reasonably priced, a short walk to City Centre and according to reviewers it was very quiet. (One problem getting a room in Dublin is avoiding places near bars that play loud music until oh-dark-hundred.) I hit a home run when I booked the Parkway. It was clean and quiet and Seamus, the fellow who manages the place was extremely helpful and friendly. He gave great advice about what to do--and just as important, what to AVOID--in Dublin. He also arranged for a cab to pick me up the last morning of my stay, saving me the hassle of sorting through cab companies and making those arrangements myself. And he had discount tickets for the indispensable "Hop On, Hop Off' tour bus he sells to guests without a markup. ("Brilliant," as the locals say.) Breakfast was excellent and young woman in the dining room was very friendly and efficient. My room was quite small, but I was just there to sleep so it was fine. All the rooms are up one or two flights of stairs, so this wouldn't be the place for anyone with a mobility disability. But if room size or accessibility aren't concerns, I'd highly recommend Parkway Guesthouse and would happily stay there again next time my travels take me to Dublin.

A few thoughts on this lodging: Location: 3.5 out of 5 I purposefully chose a location for lodging that would be close enough to the city center that if I wanted to go out and about and visit pubs or shops, I'd be able to do so quickly via the bus. I also wanted a location that was far away enough from the city center that I could sleep peacefully at night. McElroy did not disappoint: it was a 5-7 minute bus ride to O'Connell Street (or a 15 - 20 minute walk), and the only real noise I heard at night consisted of a small yappy dog who usually went inside by 10:30pm. Bus routes are plentiful, and note that you can get from the airport to the intersection of Dorset and Gardiner via #16 or #41, which leads to a 2 - 4 minute walk to the property. Do NOT take the Airlink #747 no matter what the staff try to tell you; the closest stop is about a 20 minute walk which is difficult with baggage. Purchasing a Leap Card at the Spar in Terminal 2 will help you with your travels; alternatively, if you know that you'll be doing the double decker Dublin Bus tour, get a 3 day Freedom Pass which includes all bus routes and a few discounts (30 euro). A 1-way fare from the airport to the property was 3.05 euro. Convenience stores (SPAR, Costcutters, Tesco Express) are within a 2 - 5 minute walk for most of your food and beverage needs. Staff: 4 out of 5 I encountered 2 people during my stay. The first was one of the proprietors (Catherine) who was friendly and nice enough to let me check in early. She has a sensible personality and was cordial. The second person (Christine?) was the staff who keeps the McElroy side of the guest house going. Our interaction consisted of her bringing me breakfast on most mornings, but she was really sweet and nice about it, and made sure to ask each morning if I needed anything. I let her know a day in advance that I wouldn't need breakfast one morning, and she inquired as to whether or not she should leave corn flakes in the kitchen for me. Amenities: 2 out of 5 The actual name of this side of the guest house is "McElroy Budget Accommodation" and perhaps as some advice, here is what you should be prepared for. The single room comes with one set of towels (bath and hand towel) with a towel for stepping out of the shower. There were no toiletries in my bathroom (but I was prepared for this), and there is no daily turndown service. Instead, if you require new towels, you just let the staff know. The single room as seen in my photos was adequate with a small tv, dresser, a place to hang clothes, and a desk space. The furniture is old and has seen better days, and the shower even for me required some fancy maneuvering (I'm 5' 3" and of athletic/slender build). At night, it could get chilly with the single radiator, so be prepared to sleep in long sleeves in the colder months. The free continental breakfast in the morning is nothing fancy, but adequate: 2 pieces of toast, jam and marmalade, butter, corn flakes, milk, juice, coffee/tea. Value: 4 out of 5 For 6 evenings, I paid ~340 USD inclusive of all taxes and fees, which comes out to 56$ an evening. For the location and what I got, I felt like this was a nice value given the fact that well, I was in Europe. Overall: 3 out of 5 Very strong 3 star experience. Perfect for my needs leading up to the Dublin Marathon. If I had come with my wife, I probably would have splurged for something a bit nicer, but as a solo traveler looking to do things on the cheap, this place did not disappoint.

The Guesthouse is privately owned and you can tell because it has a very individual feel that no chain of hotels can really replicate. The rooms are a good size and given the location being in the center of the city it's not really too noisy when at night. Breakfast is also inlcuded in the price which is a bonus. It's only 10 minutes wlk to the main shopping area of Grafton Street from here and it's also very close to the infamous Temple Bar area. Overall it's an enjoyable experience to stay at the Lyndon Guesthouse and I'll definitely stay there again.

Recently spent two nights here with my partner. Paid for a double room but instead got a room with…read morea double bed and a single bed. Not really an issue to be fair. Thankfully we got an en suite room because sharing a bathroom with the entire guesthouse is not my cup of tea. We found it difficult to actually find the place but i think that was due to google maps. Not a place I'd like to stay if i was heading on a night out due to it being a long uphill walk. When we arrived there was no one at reception to let us in the building so we had to ring them to say we were outside. After a bit of a frustrating booking confusion we were able to go to our room. Up seven flights of stairs! I'm lazy so that was tough but i managed haha. Definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues and not wheelchair accessible that i noticed. Breakfast is not included in the price but is only a fiver. I can't comment on the quality because we had meet ups planned in the city each morning so never ate the food. Staff were very nice and helpful. Room was clean....except for those little mini milks. A few were open and mouldy but we'd bought our own milk at the shop anyway so it didnt bother us. Walls are thin so any arguments or ahem adult activities can definitely be heard. Was surprised by how little outside noise we heard. I expected it to be loud out in the street with traffic and just general city sounds but it was very quiet thankfully. It was a lovely cozy room and the shower was perfect. Bathroom was spotless. Good location once we found it lol, getting around the city was very straight forward. If you like walking then this great location means that taxis are practically unnecessary. We used none. A few minor and esentially unimportant negatives about this place but overall had a very enjoyable stay here. The free wifi was a bonus!
