He also called a relative while at my place and on the way home to give me their suggestions on dealing with the smell, which has nothing to do with HVAC and is above and beyond in my opinion. Yes, I did have to pay the $100 fee to come out. I paid in cash to not have to pay the 10% processing fee. I was fine with paying this to have someone come out so quickly, and on a Sunday. I had another company come look at the problem 2.5 weeks ago. I called them in the morning and the showed up a couple hours later. After looking at my HVAC, they diagnose the problem as poor air flow due to a dirty air filter. There was a fine white powder on the filter which made it hard to see the dirt. The white powder is a result of using a ultra sonic humidifier with tap water. They suggest to change the filter more often (every 30 days) and buy a different brand filter with a MERV 8 or 10 rating.

When I initially reached out, Jay was a bit occupied with other jobs and said that he would contact me back, and he did just that within a day. Most contractors wouldn't remember to call back, but Jay was great at communicating when he'd be able to come by. When he arrived, he was very thorough to check each part of the HVAC unit and talk me through it. He showed us all the potential problems that could be causing our HVAC issue and why. He also gave us tips to manage air ow (especially during the summer) and prevent mold in the ducts. He explained everything in laymen's terms which was very helpful.
