It was such a wonderful experience. The staff were very attentive, superb to say the least. Came for the Old Fashion but enjoyed the burrata which is flown in from Italy. Great walking distance in Southtown. It a was dining pleasure.

We popped into King William Wine after seeing it on my social feed. My wife and I fell in love with this place for the atmosphere, wine, cocktails, the food menu and the staff!! The secret ingredient are the proprietors, Jill (the sommelier) and Juan, who clearly have a passion for what they do. The decor is quite beautiful while not being pretentious. They have lots of seating, including outdoors, and a private room for about (4) people. The menu is very much progressive, including a brunch menu with lobster Benedict. As you would expect, their wine selection is solid, featuring European and South American wines at reasonable prices. Special kudos to the staff, including Max, who made sure that everything was to our expectations. Highly recommend trying it out for dinner, brunch or just some wine or specialty drinks (they have a full bar).

Oh oh oh my Different level Different experience Elevated experience You feel the vibe Wine club options with different locker options. Or join the give me two bottles of wine a month, all the perks and yes I will drink one of the bottles on location - wine club!!!! Higher in membership, private tasting and social room. Great wine selection Full bar Great food.... GREAT A twist on some classics, example - Crema Catalan. Spending 3-4 months in Spain I appreciate the Chefs twist on this Classic. The owners (Husband and wife team) check in on you routinely. If they are trying to make you welcome and part of the family accomplished. This a dream and new lane for them. Funny they stated they don't have restaurant, bar, or hospitality back grounds. I'm going to respectfully disagree. You can't teach love in what you do, pride, pure family type customer service. That is planted in your DNA and it shines with the owners and has a trickle down effect to management and the team. Chef Sandra Maldonado- Lord the food! Gracias Operations manager Liz, you would think she is the daughter of the owners. Bar tender manager Jack. I have followed him around SATX - Example at Texas Jazz. Great pick up! Polished and does those little things that separate him from others. The rest of the team, polite and on point. Must go, For a unique and different San Antonio experience and more importantly the MEMORY Higher end $, but well worth it. Congratulations on your opening, personally we will frequent monthly, adding it to our routine. The Wine Bar at King William https://share.google/SKFlSXAKeeBo7tSej

We will always visit this fabulous restaurant. Never, ever, a disappointment. This past visit was over the top. A special night to enjoy a visit from my daughter from Fort Worth and my DIL from Weiden, Baveria. We were treated like royalty. Goodness, the food was amazing. The drinks exceptional. The service was way over the top. Highly recommend. It's a very special place. The atmosphere is wonderful. We love this place!!!

Heard about the latest brunch spot at the Blue Star complex and had to come check it out for myself and glad I did. They do take reservations, and they are recommended as this spot is not too large and seating is limited. They do have a small outdoor patio for outdoor dining as well. As you walk in you notice the vintage decor and furniture that add a touch of elegance to the motif, but they also play modern music in the dining area to keep things lively. After looking over the menu, I go with the heritage lamb hash and the Chef's Bacon Experience because why not. The bacon comes out first and you get three differently flavored bacons offerings. I don't recall the different profiles, but they were all distinctive, flavorful, and not overly salty. The lamb has comes out next and it smells great. It comes with a crispy potatoes with a poached egg in the middle. The lamb was moist and flavorful with no gamey taste. The poached egg was perfectly made. During our meal the owner came by to check in on us and our meal which was a nice touch. The staff was super friendly and worked well as a team. Overall, I really enjoyed my first time here and look forward to coming back and try more of the menu.

Our small group had the pleasure of being the first customers to ring in the New Year of 2026 with brunch at King William Wine. We were met at the door and explained the history and careful thought that went into the overall layout and decor throughout the space. Our group of 5 shared the Bacon Experience, Champagne Brunch Tea Tray and they Butcher's Brunch Board and it was more than enough to leave us all full and satisfied. The service was top notch and we even had the opportunity to speak with the owner's and understand their vision behind the space. Everything we had was top notch and, although full, we had to try the Gemutlikuchen dessert cake which came out in a large enough portion for 5 people to share. It was absolutely amazing. Because we went on New Years Day, there was a limited menu, so we are excited to go back and get the full brunch experience. One last note - they have an extensive wine list. We are not big wine drinkers ourselves, but you can tell the owner's have a passion for wine and talked us through some of the wine tasting experiences and classes they will have in the future. Super cool place. KG Recommended!

Happened upon this gem on a lovely rainy Sunday afternoon, right before closing time. Stunning and welcoming and cozy from the minute you step inside. Ashley graciously provided us with the story of this place, and the wine, and the intention of it all. We were seated at the bar underneath vintage chandeliers, sipping champagne and treated like family. It was truly hard to leave. With the start of Sunday Suppers, and of course their Bubbles and Bacon brunch... needless to say, we will be back!

I will always remember it as one of the most memorable Anniversary dinners. We stopped in the afternoon prior to our evening dinner. We were greeted by a young gentleman, who after telling him we'd be dining there that evening. He took us on a tour of their dining rooms and helped us reserve a quiet table in an intimate dining area over looking the piano bar. Upon leaving he introduced himself as Robbie, the Executive Chef. Thank you Robbie for taking the time to select our perfect table! When we arrived for dinner, our table was adorned with rose pedals as well as anniversary wishes. Our waiter Carlos couldn't have been more attentive. Even though he had more tables to serve, he made us feel that he was exclusively ours! He helped us decide on our main filet entree and made recommendations as to compatible sides. The dinner was FABULOUS; not to mention our complimentary dessert! My wife (with my encouragement) ordered the Alaskan King Crab legs. I knew that I wanted a little, So she ordered a pound, which was MKT priced. There was a huge sticker shock when I got the bill ($295 for the crab legs!!!), they were amazing. The bar had a nice bourbon selection. We will definitely add this to our rotation.

Greetings! For a frame of reference, fine dining for my…read morefamily is usually The Palm, or Chama Gaucha; thus, our expectations were high for the dining experience we were anticipating for my husband's birthday. Let me just put this up front: Expectations exceeded! Upon entering the restaurant, we were verbally greeted with a hearty salutation by no fewer than five, count them, five members of the staff! Once we were seated, Jacob took our water and soft drink preferences, immediately followed by Danny, who was carrying four glasses of champagne in celebration of my hubby's day. After passing out the menus, Danny regaled us with some "off-menu" offerings, that while sounding delicious, couldn't sway us from our already chosen selections: sea bass for the birthday boy -- who was slightly disappointed to learn that it was sold out -- who had to "settle" for the snapper royale (snapper topped with crab and scallops); ribeye for my younger son; crab cake appetizer for my entree; and, crab cake entree for my older son. My sons split a Caesar salad, and their dad had a small one, all sans anchovies, while I had the French onion soup as our first plates. The salads were scrumptious and more than enough for each of my guys while it took me a minute to delightfully work my way through the soup that was generously topped by a mountain of cheese. Our entrees, and our sides (creamed spinach, jumbo asparagus, and two-cheese mac and cheese, all 3 yummy) were simply superior to our preconceived ideas. My husband's snapper was smoky and tender while my younger son said his steak, prepared medium, was "perfect." The difference between my app-sized crab cake my son's entree was that both of his were larger in circumference and height. The texture was -- now, I'm going to refrain from using the "m" word ("moist"), because that might give the connotation that they were filled primarily with mushy breading, was succulent, overloaded w/crab. Perfect nite was had by the bday boy and fam!

We visited on a Wednesday evening with a party of five and experienced a short 15-20 minute wait, but the food made it well worth it. Before our reservation, I discovered Ladino had earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, so expectations were slightly raised. Our table opted for the Table of Joy, a four-course experience we dubbed a Mediterranean culinary journey. From pita and dips to cold and hot meze, mangal entrees, and assorted desserts, every course brought fun and surprising flavors. I can't speak to the authenticity of the dishes but I consider myself a bit of an amateur-expert in delicious food--and this place did not disappoint! Pita & Dips: The beet muhammara was light and refreshing, while the fire-roasted corn and tirshi were table favorites. The pita itself? Hands down, best pita I've ever had. Cold & Hot Meze: The red snapper crudo and kibbeh nayeh (beef tartare) were my personal favorites. I challenge anyone one the fence about tartare to try--just add a squeeze of lemon, scoop it onto the gem lettuce, and prepare to be transformed. Mangal Entrees: The biggest surprise was the mushroom shawarma. I'm not huge on mushrooms or meatless entrees, but this dish completely won me over. The textures and flavors were beautifully executed. We also enjoyed the Wagyu steak, saffron chicken, and pork souvlaki. The pork stood out for its tenderness and the delicious charred aroma that complemented the spices. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of these entrees. Desserts: We finished with the ice cream sandwich, supangle, and olive oil cake. The cake was light and buttery, balanced by fresh peaches, while the supangle, a chocolate pudding made with local Texas honey was a table favorite. Final Verdict: Ladino is a must-try for anyone seeking an exciting dining experience in San Antonio. I'll definitely be back--and next time, I'm trying the duck. Don't mind the photos of the half eaten dishes--I got overly excited and forgot to take pictures before digging in.

For 73 years, The Barn Door has been more than a great restaurant; it has been an inexorable piece of San Antonio history. Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.
