Came here for dim sum on a Sunday around 12 and it was busy but we got seated right away since not many people want to dine outdoors. There were a lot of people dining indoors and doesn't seem to be socially distanced much. We were the only ones who wanted to be seated outside for a while before 2 other groups were seated outdoors. Food came out quickly and very fresh. So delicious! The servers speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Parking wasn't hard to find in the plaza parking lot. Exploring the plazas in the area. Came across this dimsum place. Wasn't busy at all but maybe because it's Thursday. The food were not bad. The chicken feet has the perfect flavor and texture. The siumai and hao gow were ok but on the smaller size. The Portuguese tart were too soft. The XO turnip cake were crispy in the outside and soft in the inside but need a little more xo sauce. The rice rolls, chives dumpling, fry taro, beef tripes and the rest of the food were mediocre. Overall, the food were not bad but definitely not worth the price. The two of us ended up paying $80 something and we didn't even order as much as we normally do. With the price, I can prob have better dimsum somewhere else. read more

We enjoyed having dimsum there and decided to have our father's birthday dinner there too. I really need to praise them for their customer service. The staff was very friendly and attentive and always checked in with us. The food came out pretty quickly. They heavily marketed their set dinner menu but we opted to order a la carte. That way we got to choose the dishes we wanted to try. Everything tasted very good and especially the sqaub, very juicy. My family is from Hong Kong and are squab snobs so they would know. This has definitely become one of my new favorite dim sum places in the inner East Bay! Service: great! The servers were very attentive and very friendly. He made sure to check back on our table to make sure our tea was filled, clean up our empty plates, and overall very nice. Ambience: open space, glass windows so a ton of natural light shining in. There's also cool lighting fixtures and their teapot is quite unique, too. Parking: it is located in an outlet mall so there's plenty of parking available. Food: this is why I rated it 4 stars - don't get me wrong, they have a really great variety of dim sum on their menu. My absolute favorite is the classic ha gaos (shrimp dumpling), siu mai, and the zhongshan style dumpling. I just found that it lacked a little bit in flavor. We ordered: Green tea dumplings (dessert)- 7/10 More of a mocho consistency, and the filing tasted like sesame paste. Not bad. Walnut buns- 6/10 Very sweet, but dry without any memorable flavor. Vegetarian rice noodle roll- 2/10 Texture was off, taste was not good. We did not eat much of this. Pan fried vegetable buns- 5/10 These were very "meh". Not great flavor but the texture was right. Overall assessment: Pros - vegetarian options! Not always easy to find at authentic dim sum spots. - large restaurant, even though there were many parties, it wasn't too crowded Cons - not a great vibe. Restaurant is not aesthetically pleasing, and the big tank of crowded crustaceans was unappealing - Service was beyond minimal and not friendly - food was just OK. Roommates were craving chicken feet one day and we decided to try this place out because of the affordable prices and we were not disappointed ! Decent quality dim sum for a great price - can't complain :) They also offer other foods besides dim sum in case you're craving something else! I recommend you call ahead when placing your order, because we've seen people waiting outside when we pick up our food. If you do go in person, the menu is laid out on a table in front of the door for you to order at the entrance. My family and I came here on several occasions and although the food was decent, the service and attitude of the staff and manager here is absolutely unacceptable. My family were first in line waiting to get a table and constantly saw other people behind us in line being brought to their tables and when we asked the staff why that was, they rudely dismissed our question and disregarded us as if we were invisible. My parents asked once more as to why our family's table wasn't ready and they continued to call people behind us to their tables! You fill out a menu and they bring the dishes in a staggered fashion. Food was overall pretty tasty. The beef ribs in black bean sauce and soup dumplings were my favorites. 10/10 I would order again. My partner & I ate at King Wah restaurant in Pleasanton in January 2024 around 1 PM (lunchtime). We have dined there several times now. The food was very good and the service was good. I felt the price was a little more than I was expecting for 2 people eating only Dim Sum for lunch, especially since we eat Dim Sum regularly and mostly eat the same dishes. Usually the bill is between $30 & $40. This day it was $73 + change. After eating and paying the bill, I had to run to the restroom. I had my iPhone, a card holder w/my ID & 2 debit cards + 3 credit cards, + $15 cash, and the receipt in my hand. I laid it on the flat surface in the stall. The restroom was not in the restaurant. When we left I turned the opposite direction and didn't see my things. We got in the car and my partner drove from Pleasanton to Manteca Costco. I was so knocked out as if drugged. I literally couldn't open my eyes. As we walked into Costco I suddenly realized I didn't have my phone or wallet. We got in the car and raced back to Pleasanton. It was almost 4 PM. The restaurant was closed from 3 to 5 then reopened for dinner. I asked if they had seen my wallet and phone and they directed me to the restroom down the hall. I went but there was nothing there. I returned to the restaurant and asked if anyone had turned it in and they immediately pulled back the table & chairs where we were sitting. Then told me to ask around the food court and check the lost & found. We did this and I called my daughter who insists I share my location with her for emergency reasons. She started calling my phone and pinging my location and told me it showed the location of my phone was still in the restaurant. As I walked into the restaurant my granddaughter was calling my phone and my Apple Watch allowed me to answer the call. I was so upset it didn't occur to me that I had to be near my phone for this to happen. I stepped outside because it was too noisy to hear her and the call went away. We went back around the food court to all the restaurants with no luck. So we went outside and I called each of my banks and cancelled the 3 credit cards and 2 debit cards. And was told by the banks that a total of 4/ $20 clipper cards had been purchased, 2 purchases from Ross totaling almost $60, 1 purchase at 99 Ranch store. Next I called Pleasanton non emergency line and was told that an officer would arrive in about 20 minutes. And to the minute Officer Jimmy Boland arrived. He reassured me that he would find my things. Then I remembered to tell him about my watch and the phone call. He asked for my Apple Watch and for permission to put it on his arm. He told me to have my daughter keep calling and pinging my phone. And she did. Within 20 minutes he came out with a woman, her purse, my phone, and my wallet. She pretended to speak no English. Would not give her name & had no ID on her. The manager at King Wah insisted they knew nothing about it. She called over one of the other food court managers and discussed what had happened. She told the officer she was going to give us back the $73 we had paid. With the help of a translator, the police did learn her name. She took me by the arm and pointed to the restroom indicating that was where she found it. But no acknowledgement of using the cards and taking the cash. The phone was pried from its case and the ringer was silenced but the ping could not be stopped. So why didn't she just hand it over as finding it when I kept going back to the restaurant ? I opted to not destroy her life by pressing charges. She was scared but seemed grateful. The police gave me a case number. By now it was after 7:30 PM, we were hungry, but my money and all my cards were gone. The restaurant refused to return my $73 or any portion it after the police left ,and didn't offer us some food. So we pieced together all our change and went to another little shop outside of the food court and had a nice little meal to tide us over. And this is why I am giving King Wa a bad review. I was very pleased with the dimsum at King Wah. The ha gow was great! the skin was thin, almost translucent and the shrimp filling was generous and flavorful and it was not mushy! The siu mai was great as well! but i'm more of a ha gow person so i only ate one siu mai but from what i tasted, it was good. It's got the shrimp and pork plus a little mushroom and topped with fish roe. It wasn't hard or bland. The skin was not mushy - overall a solid siu mai. Now my family really likes the BBQ Pork puff pastry, and normally i dont really care for this item but since there was one left, i ate and it was REALLY well made. Definitely one of the better ones I've had here in NorCal. The puff pastry was flaky and buttery. It had a good amount of BBQ Pork. And since this was already so tasty, the dan tat (egg tart) was just as good as well. Flaky - buttery crust and the egg custard was still jiggly -- perfect! we also ordered other different dumplings and all were really good. We tried their mushroom dumpling and personally i liked the taste a lot. The skin was a little overcooked because it was really soft and almost mushy. But otherwise it was good maybe it was sitting in the container too long the heat just cooked it longer. Im not sure. the roasted duck churng fun was nothing special. i won't recommend it, not enough duck meat for the price. I would just prefer the traditional churng fun (rice roll) with shrimp or beef or bbq pork. I'm surprised how good the dim sum here. I would definitely return to King Wah for more dim sum. read more

First time to King Wah since the epidemic. The bill was a little high and they tag on a new service charge. We generally over ordered and looking forward to take home some food. There wasn't much take home. Over $120 for 4, 80 pound Asian boss lady don't each much or the two boys, I'm the only one could eat. That's properly equal to 2.5 adults. Say what, fried rice $20! For leftover rice? I told the boss lady it's OK to order it as one of the kids like it but she refused to pay that much that she could make at home easily. Then we asked for extra napkins, they gave one, ha, ha. All in all the food was as expected, service was OK, we got right in Saturday 10:30 in the morning. King Wah, the legendary upscale dim sum and Chinese banquet-style restaurant in the Westlake Shopping Center in Daly City has made its way to the East Bay to the border of the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton at the brand new Asian-centric shopping center called Pacific Pearl, directly across the street from the ever-popular San Francisco Premium Outlets. We obviously came to the area to shop, but this new shopping center with a 99 Ranch Market as its centerpiece is no doubt providing a number of customers a respite from shopping with a great options for dining and grocery shopping. We came to King Wah, first not realizing that this was actually the same King Wah on the peninsula because on the outside the sign says KW Restaurant and on the inside, it is also considerably smaller than their parent restaurant, as this King Wah is also attached to an open indoor Food Court that is housed in the Pacific Pearl. When we came on a Friday evening, the place was busy but not overwhelmed with customers as clearly they are still known for the Dim Sum service in the mornings. For dinner tonight, our party of five easily managed to get a table with no wait outside. They actually have three menus for dinner at KW, including a Today's Special menu and one that even had pictures to go with their a la carte dinner entrees. The first thing that captured our eyes was the Surf Clam Pan-Fried Rice Noodles for the image posted on the picture alone. We also opted for the Braised Squab, the Spare Ribs with Honey Pepper Sauce and on their clay pot side of their menu, we couldn't decide between their Zhong Shan Fish Belly Casserole or their Braised Chicken with Bone and Ginger in Clay Pot. When we inquired with our server which one was his favorite option, he gave reasons for why choosing both would be a good filling option and at roughly 16 dollars each, we thought why not and ordered them both for five entrees for dinner. One thing I did notice is that there was no rhyme or reason to what dishes came out first. Both clay dishes came out piping hot, but I have to lean towards the braised chicken being my more favorite of the two clay pot dishes because of the lack of bones but both were well sauteed and came with my favorite green onion stalks and the chicken had the added benefit of the crunch coming from the skin off the meat and red onions to boot. Then out came the braised squab, which was fine if somewhat unremarkable considering this was the same dish that many of us have experienced at a traditional Chinese dinner banquet. The fact that the roasted bird came with extra salt and lemon for seasoning was a nice touch. The last two dishes had to have been my favorite the Surf Clam Pan-Fried Rice Noodles was like a little bird's nest of pan fried noodles in gravy mixed with vegetables topped with a shell-like noodle base that provided for a unique dining experience while the Honey Pepper Sauce Spare Ribs proved an exceptional dish thanks to the amount of food we received in that one dish alone, so much so that was the dish we partially took home and ate it the following evening. All in all, an enjoyable meal was had by all at King Wah. When it came to the total bill, it was roughly 100 dollars for five full entrees for five people which wasn't too bad. I can only imagine the crowds this place now gets for weekend dim sum, especially for those who dine and then plan to shop across the street at the outlets in order to make a day of it. Thankfully, we didn't have to experience those crowds on a Friday evening for dinner. Thanks to King Wah's presence, they may now make Pleasanton a dining destination for upscale Chinese food lovers that rivals that of San Francisco and the peninsula. read more

Very convenient location! The Dim Sum there was better than most of the Dim Sum restaurants but some items are not very good e.g. the beef balls - doesn't tastes like beef and not tender at all. The worst thing was their Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf 糯米雞，Totally dry and very little meat was inside the rices. You're eating a big rice ball only. This is one of the worst item they have. I'll recommend skips it until they improve this item! The other Dim Sum I have tried was good or better than average. Services are better than most of the Chinese restaurants, but not up to the standards of their competitors in the area. The waiters or waitresses will walk by our table without pick up the empty plates most of the time. They don't check our tea pot and refills it like the high quality Dim Sum restaurants did. I ordered around 6 dim sums (gai lan, beef rice rolls, tripe, bbq buns, siu mai And fried daikon). Nothing highly stood out like Koi or HL Peninsula and my favorite was probably the fried daikon. Gai lan had thick branches and tripe was a bit too chewy. Other ire were good, not great. Food was freshly made and hot, which is crucial for dim sum where some places have it warm inside carts. Prices competitive and my tab was roughly 36.00 for 6 dishes as majorly were considered large items. Tons to take home as I was solo this time. I've been searching for an alternate spot for dim sum since South North Dragon in Antioch stopped indoor service due to Covid and I think I've finally found one. Tried King Wah for the 1st time this past Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. They serve all of my "go to" dim sum dishes - ha gow (steamed shrimp dumpling), cha siu bow (steamed bbq pork bun) , pai gwat (spare ribs), foong jow (chicken feet), lo mai gai (sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves) and don tot (custard). For some reason, we never got the cha siu bow but the other dishes were prepared well enough for me. The ha gow was the best of those ordered which is important to me because it's my favorite dim sum dish. We arrived when they opened at 10 and were able to choose to be seated any table that we wanted. They did not get busy until we left at 11 but there were still a lot of tables available then. All of the dim sum seems to be partially prepared in advance because it only took a few minutes before our orders started to arrive. You order off of a large printed menu w/photos which makes it very easy to order, especially if you don't know the names of the dim sum you like. Service was fine. No one came by to ask if we needed anything (as is typical of much such places) but it was easy to flag down people for things we needed. They also quickly adjusted the bill when we realized that we never received the cha siu bow that we ordered. The only knock on this and other Chinese restaurants in the area is their current practice of adding a service charge (15% for parties of 1-7 people; 18% for 8 or more) to the bill. I treated the 15% as an included tip and did not tip anything more. So, I did not pay any more than I would normally pay for the meal which was not unusually expensive at mainly $6 per plate. I'll definitely be going back. It's a long drive for me to get there but I only get the urge for dim sum every month or so and it's worth the drive there, especially if I also want to shop at 99 Ranch in the same plaza or at the Outlets across the road. read more

It's not the 'enjoy your meal' type of vibe, it's the 'we may have forgotten about you while we're serving other tables' type of vibe. Value: 2 stars - Although the food is tasty, fresh, and had a great selection of new items to try, I didn't feel as though the quality justified some of the prices. Most items on the ticketed menu were large items ($6.95), and it was obvious that the items quickly added up. I will probably be coming back on occasion, but this isn't my go-to place. read more
