Sesame chicken with fried rice and a wonton cracker.

This place is really good. We even hosted a few events here and the food is always fresh and delicious. The food always comes no more than 10-15 min with is fast for a Chinese restaurant. Once got takeout and it was still good.

Honestly drove by this shopping so so many times never really noticed Canton Village until I had to pull over for a phone call. It's next to Trader Joes, Round Table and Michael's shopping plaza. On to the lunch and first impression. I was greeted right away not busy at all and got sat at any table I chose a booth close to the front. I was in the lunch special time slot so it that was a bonus . One thing noticed right away although the tables were clean they didn't have any condiments or hot sauces etc only one napkin and utensils spoon and a fork. Iced water was given right away I had to ask the server woman for black pepper, hot sauce because it wasn't readily available on the table . The Kung Pao shrimp was asked to be little spicy but it didn't have the dried out whole black/red peppers like it's supposed to. I have had better tasting Kung Pao shrimp in Downtown & in Pleasanton on Main Street .The egg flower soup was alright but overall the meal was just average Americanized Chinese food to me. Lots of to go orders were being picked up. They have a large banquet room, plenty of parking . Most important the value of the luncheon will probably have me come again to try another dish maybe at dinner time. It's been a Livermore staple for a while so they are doing Things right .4/5

Upon arrival the server (older gentleman who I now suspect was filling in until the regular servers arrived) asked, "can I help you?" There were no other customers present, and his tone made me wonder if we imposing on them before they were officially open. So I asked if they were open? Lol. Then he softened his tone slightly by replying yes, and asking for how many? I noticed as others arrived he didn't ask the same question and definitely not with the same "what the hell do you want" tone. Rather he greeted each of them with "hello, table for 2?" Hmmm. Ignoring that for a bit, we were hungry, and in preparation for placing our order we asked a question about a menu item - to which the server snapped at us - telling us basically that any "authentic" Chinese restaurant would prepare the item the way they do. Wow! Really? Again it was his tone. We contemplated leaving at that point but decided to try and make the best of the situation since we had done our research, liked the reviews, and already had our sodas, etc. In hindsight we shouldn't have stayed. The food wasn't bad except for the bbq ribs. They were extremely tough, full of fat, and we couldn't eat them. Even though we took leftovers we dumped them because of the memory of the experience. Won't be back and can't recommend. We'll take our GREEN money somewhere else. 2 stars for the food. If I could give zero stars for service I would.

Dry, hard, pellets called rice and very small shrimp

We stopped by this restaurant on the way to Sacramento instead of going to the Ale House and boy was I disappointed. Rice is the main staple in any Asian restaurant and this was one of the worse plain rice I've ever had in my life of eating out. How can they not know how it make rice?!? First it was not piping hot as rice should be coming out of a rice cooker that stays warm. It was dry, hard, separated, and mealy. Now I've had all types of rice and this was VERY poorly cooked. Whoever cooked this one pot of rice should read directions on how to cook it or how much water should go into the rice cooker. This is not rocket science. I asked the young girl working there about it and she asked if I didn't want it...? No, I want rice, otherwise what would I eat my eggplant and Mongolian trio with? I asked why is hard and not hot? And she said they only had one pot of rice. Not sure what that means but hard cold mealy rice ruined this dinner. Who can enjoy eating anything with hard separated pellets that don't soak up any sauce be considered a good meal? Jasmine rice of high quality is fragrant, light, fluffy, and soft. Rice of any culture from Spanish, Japanese, or basmati is the highlight of any cuisine. Either learn how to make rice correctly, add more water, make a fresh batch but don't keep serving bad old rice. Ask ChatGpt or watch YouTube but to serve this rice at any restaurant establishment is plain awful. No wonder it was not busy on a weekend evening. Mongolian dish had way too many onions and not enough protein. Eggplant was too sweet and dry fried too long or fried prior as a fast prep method because it was not plump/juicy as it should be but rather wrinkly and dried out.

Sauteed green beans. You can get them without the hot spice, and they're still yummy.

Stopped by again, after a long absence. What a great meal! Excellent service too. We always leave with lots of leftovers, and the golden scallops reheated very well. Quiet night for a Saturday?

Rounded up 3.5 stars. The first time I ordered takeout from here years ago (pre-pandemic), it was a 40 minute wait. I decided to try them again after seeing good Yelp reviews. The food was ready on time. It's conveniently located near Trader Joe's so I was able to get some groceries while the food was being prepared. The best dishes were the General's chicken and the sizzling rice soup. The cha siu bao tasted a little artificial to me and the chow fun noodles stuck together a bit. I think the pot stickers might taste better in person since they were a little soggy by the time I got home. I plan on dining in person in the future to try out different menu items.

Canton Village is a solid Chinese restaurant in Livermore! I'm so glad a friend introduced me to it. :) I recently visited for dinner on a weeknight and had no trouble getting a table. It seems like they do a lot of their business via takeout. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. I ordered the Mongolian Beef at the waiter's suggestion. It was delicious - tender and flavorful beef mixed with onions. My friend ordered the orange chicken and it was perfection - I'd order this next time I visit! The orange chicken was breaded nicely and was the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory.

It's kind of pricey, especially compared to the original location in Oakland, but the food is authentic Hong Kong/Cantonese style cuisine. This will definitely satisfy your carb/MSG cravings, lol! We got takeout for a weekday lunch. This is our usual order now: Fresh sliced fish porridge, $14.95 - they always do a great job with this. This is the Cantonese equivalent of chicken noodle soup. The texture is just right, there are plenty of fish pieces, and the flavor is classic, right down to the ginger slivers. Shrimp rice noodle roll $9.50 - DH's favorite dim sum item. It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. This type of noodle is very soft and absorbs all of the flavors from the crab pieces and sauce. Great choice for seafood lovers! Shrimp silky egg chow fun $24.95 - little one's favorite. This one just has such a great combination of flavors. The velvety "gravy" really ties everything together and makes it go down smoothly. This one has flat noodles (cheung fun), like the classic beef chow fun. Comfort food for sure! Sautéed Chinese green $22.95 - this looks to be pan seared choy sum. Seems kind of expensive, but they actually pack a lot of greens into the box. They don't have the veggie clay pot anymore, Barbecue pork $15.95 - they do a pretty good job with this one too. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. We didn't get the beef chow fun because we didn't need that much food. But that one is a classic here and they usually do a great job with it too. Food is usually ready very quickly and everything was steaming hot. Staff are efficient and friendly. Give it a try; this place is consistently good and I highly recommend it!

We love that they have Szechuan cuisine as well as American Chinese, and it's not too salty, too oily, or too bland. The spicy dishes we've been getting our excellent. The man who answers the phone is always really nice and helpful when I call in an order, and has helpful advice and suggestions, like when I accidentally order all spicy dishes (and I'm feeding kids always) or if I just ask (do you have something with this and this?). I love how friendly and helpful they are here! They have a dedicated easy to access parking lot which I love over downtown places, and the interior looks nice and comfy although I've only ever done takeout. Everything is always hot and fresh, we've never had anything taste stale or old like Peking did in the end on Las Positas. The wonton soup also was delicious on last visit! Plenty of flavor but not too much oil, and my kids loved the broth. I was excited to learn you can swap in almost any entrees you want for the family meal, making it a good deal! I especially love the whiteboard menu of specials at the door. This is how our old favorite restaurant back home always did it, and I'm now taking it to mean the mark of a good restaurant. Try something off that menu, it's got the best dishes!

Every dish we ordered was bland, lacked flavor, and wasn't consistent at all. To make matters worse, I noticed something concerning near the cashier.
