It is great for being downtown, and you can get all of your groceries in one place, but they do overcharge on many things based on their location. Some things I get there at $4 are only about $2 somewhere else, but you do save time driving if you live close by. One thing I avoid here is going to the deli counter. Even if you are the first in line, it takes a ridiculously long time to A. Get anybody's attention and B. Get your order delivered. They have a decent selection of Vegan/ Vegetarian food options as well, and you don't have to see a pig hanging upside down while you shop. They also have a Starbucks and a really neat sushi bar with Chefs cooking all day. At the end of the day, the staff is super great, there is one guy in there, who I assume is the manager, who always says hello and is always happy to see you. It will always be cheaper than the Whole Foods 2 blocks down! :) read more

Love this market! I won't go anywhere else. I like that it has plenty of readymade food inside. Not only is there a whole section by the registers of pre-made meals and snacks that just need to be heated up, but they have a full sushi bar with a belt, Boar's Head sandwiches and deli, pizzas, and burritos. Plus a Starbucks! (I always get a tea on the way in and then a refill on the way out!) There's also an olive bar; a great cheese section (love the under $5 bin!); nice floral area with a lot of potted plants as well; a big bakery with tons of bagels, donuts, pretzels, and specialty loafs; an olive oil station where you fill your own bottles with different flavors like garlic or basil; and a large healthy-eating section. I like how there's a lot of self check out stations. The staff has been nothing but helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that they have a tiny beer selection, no wines, and no hard alcohol. DO NOT USE THE PHARMACY. The pharmacist (Daniel) is lazy and a liar, claiming to have not received authorization from my doctor for a prescription refill (he had, my doctor's office confirmed), claiming that he would call the doctor to obtain the authorization he claimed he did not have (he did not call, again confirmed by the doctor's office), and taking four days to fill a prescription for 20 pills of a very common medicine (and one I actually rely upon for my health) only after I showed up there in person and wouldn't let him squirm out of actually doing his job. Daniel: you are incompetent. He would not give me the name of the manager, and did not care that I had a complaint, dismissing me with this air of condescension. Never going back to that pharmacy or to that store, and will avoid the entire franchise if it is convenient to do so. read more

They won't let you use the bathroom without a code and returning something with a receipt is a nightmare. The cashiers are pretty nice.They lock the doors at night so you have to walk through the parking garage. You can't even charge your phone because they blocked all the outlets. read more

I cannot express enough how much I like the staff at the store. They're always friendly and helpful. Almost all of the cashiers are lightning quick. This KS, while conveniently located, is more of a deli than a grocery store. Sure, it carries the basics but is usually badly stocked and always out of the big sales items. I've lived in the neighbourhood for 1,5 years and only go for basic items, everything else I buy at Whole Foods, even if it costs me more. The only highlight is FoH manager Dietdre, who is always friendly and helpful, while most of the employees 'don't lnow where it is, don't have time to help you find it or when it will be back in stock'. I just moved here from Chicago and the fact that this is one of the only true grocery stores in Denver is laughable. Where do I start. I have seen mold on the produce, cucumbers are the smallest I have ever seen. The butcher doesn't have their meats labeled correctly. You have to search for the prices per meat which is really inconvenient, should just put the prices next to each meat. Butcher workers are rude. Boars head could be upwards to $13/lb. They do not put the shopping baskets near the entrance off of Chestnet so you have to walk across the store to get them. They have space for them too. Not to mention this store is ALWAYS absolutely packed and lines could take upwards to 20 minutes. Denver is a food desert!!! Need more grocery stores! read more

Very convenient, we need more urban grocery stores that aren't all at the Whole Foods and specialty price point. Starbucks in store, sushi, prepared foods are convenient while visiting friends in building. Most staff were pleasant, however the woman working the prepared foods section (pizzas) seemed inconvenienced and visibly huffed when asked for pizza that was on the menu (no changes or anything). read more

Other than its location, this King Soopers falls short in a bunch of important areas. It has a poor organic produce selection and most items in this section are out of stock. The front of the store is compact and consistently congested making it hard to navigate this area. There are rarely enough checkers to satisfy demand and there are NEVER baggers at checkout. Furthermore, this store is a small and has a reduced selection compared to other King Soopers in the area. Making matters worse, they consistently fail to keep certain items in stock. Finally, parking here is often a complete joke. In sum, this store is in a great location, but its poor layout and terrible execution make it a disappointment. P.S. I wrote this entire review while waiting in line on a moderately busy Monday night (surprise, only two check stands were open and there were no baggers!). read more

This place sucks. There is a camera down every aisle. It wouldn't normally be a problem, but there are 6 down every aisle and they BEEP, BEEP, BEEP every time you walk by one. What a great asset to Downtown (DT) Denver! I am visiting and forgot a few things so I searched for the nearest store/pharmacy and up came this KS. I was amazed that such a large grocery was in the heart of DT. It was easy to get to; parking was no problem as it was well-marked and I felt safe walking in the building. Definitely a more hip and younger clientele than most other King Sooper stores, but it is a really nice location. Everyone I visit the store is so clean and presentable. The only gripe I have is that after work I can never find fresh baked bread, I am not sure if it's because they don't have it or if they just hide it really well. I have looked by the front door, the cashier lines, by the bakery and I can never find it, I'm talking about the fresh baked French bread not just your other regular breads that are always out by the doughnuts and cookies. read more

I'm so glad there is finally a grocery store downtown near my work! The prices seem to be on point with other parts of the city too. Plenty of grab and go lunch options. The deli has really affordable prices on sandwiches, wraps and chicken. The only thing that is missing is a real salad bar - other King Soopers in the area of similar size seem to have one. Add that in and it would be 5 stars for me. I can't comment on the parking, since I always walk here during my lunch break. read more

This King Soopers may have had some rough edges in its beginning when it opened, but management and staff have tried very hard to make sure all people have access. If you have a disability, or among a protected/minority class that is often discriminated, you can let them know and they work very hard to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The store is organized and there's always someone around to answer questions. It can get very busy given its downtown location, so if you don't like crowds, try to go during "off" hours and use the garage or Starbucks entrance. There are registers at 2 of the 3 exits, which makes it more convenient. The only thing that I dislike about this location are people coming up behind me while I'm paying, just to take a basket I would return myself anyway. If you don't sneak up to an ATM when someone is doing banking, why would you sneak up behind someone paying at a register? They're trying to be helpful, but my ptsd is triggered every time and I feel this is something that they should understand not to do regardless of disabilities. Things can be very hard for someone like me and I'm going to miss it when I'm soon no longer in this area. Thank you to everyone who has been kind to me here. Nice King Soopers from a food offering perspective given the urban size limitation. I like how the chain is moving closer to the whole foods style feel with different stations with freshly prepared food. I wish King Soopers would step on the gas more though and rapidly increase the number of affordable organic and bulk food options ala sprouts. Another thing I think was done well with this King Soopers was the in-store music selections that cater to the local demo. Instead of slow oldies music (which makes mellianals want to dodge for the nearest exit), this store plays rock. Now for the things I think need improvement... First off having 4 screens that flash at you to show you being recorded at different sections in the exact same aisle seems like overkill. It also takes away from the more conversational feel the store is trying to create and instead adds a creepy big brother factor. 2nd, this is a lodo store but there are hardly any bike racks. Either the bike racks must be on backorder (there is lots of room for them all down the street) or the management hasn't stepped outside much to see how their clientele travels locally. With the parking garage already filling to capacity, bike racks are going to be important. Lastly, I think King Soopers really underestimated the potential for large crowds in the store design. They seriously need a whole wall of self checkout machines ASAP like they have at the capital hill store. The few machines in place today won't cut it once more people become aware the store is open. This becomes even more important considering there is no room to line up at the existing checkout stands. read more

It was well laid out, there was ample parking in the underground garage, and all their produce seemed great. I think this will be my new go to. So happy we finally have a grocery store downtown besides the Speer location which is horrible! Everything was clean and tidy- to be expected for a new store. Hopefully it stays that way. I love this supermarket! It is conveniently located and everyone that works there is so friendly! In particular, the guys in the Meat department, everyone in the Deli department, and Bob, the cashier. For the most part, they keep the store well stocked and clean. The only downside is they don't seem to have enough cashiers on duty so the lines can get outrageous, no matter what time or day of the week. Also, the seafood area doesn't smell the freshest; yes I realize it's seafood but it should smell like the ocean, not a dumpster full of week old seafood. Regardless, I highly recommend anyone living in the downtown area to frequent this establishment. read more

The manager, looks like Guy Fieri & is supposedly named Wayne (he claimed when I called back) is an absolute piece of shit. My boyfriend attempted to add cigarettes after we had already paid for all but 11 cents of our groceries at self checkout-- we had already put $45 into the machine-- the guy working at self checkout claimed he needed, not only my boyfriends ID (he's 23), but mine & also mine (I'm 21) 20yr old friends IDs as well. I found this irritating & sarcastically commented, "yes, because I'm clearly a minor...." At this point the manager came over & started chastising me for the sarcastic comment I made & would not take our IDs-- taking my sarcastic comment as truth tho I was clearly holding an over 21 ID at his face, which he was ignoring. At this point I was claiming how ridiculous this whole experience & their treatment of us was, he told us to leave. I said I'm not leaving until you refund the $45 we had spent, he then tried to claim we had put Nothing into the self checkout until we blatantly pointed out his error on the screen. At this point is was very upset & saying I'd gladly leave I don't want to spend my money on them but to refund me, which he continuously tried to avoid. Throughout the process of us insisting on our refund he called me "a little bitch", once physically grabbed me by the arm & twisted my wrist when I tried to reach for my money the. Claimed he was going to both "beat the shit out of me" & "fuck me up" under his breath so only I & my boyfriend could hear. At this point I lost it, I admit I did call him profanities as if just been threatened (mind you I'm a 5' 2" 100lbs girl this is a grown man) & left when he finally handed me money. Upon returning home I realized I was shorted nearly $3. I will be Pursuing this further with their higher ups-- this is on security videos yet unfortunately I doubt you can hear the threats he made at me as I imagine the cameras don't have sound. Checkout is ridiculous during prime time, produce is crappy, salad bar is gas station quality, seafood is old, parking is a very bad joke, columns block spots , up to 1/4-1/3 of the few spots they have are sometimes blocked by construction cones (!!!) sushi is embarrassingly bad and the sushi bar is not open when it's supposed to be (closes early and randomly), all in all a terrible grocery store!!! read more

I realizwd that I had the wrong Cc card. I ask the clerk to please hold my things while I walked all the way back home, drove back to pay for my goods. When I got back they had put the food away!
