I've been going to one of the mega-pharmacies instead (starts with a W) and I thought "wow... this is expensive, and I always wait at least 10 minutes in line - maybe it's time to find another option." I checked out Yelp and found Alto, and I'm glad I did. The process of transferring from my existing pharmacy was effortless - I just gave Alto their information through the app and asked them to transfer everything, and they handled it from there. In their app, you just load in a pic of your insurance card, load in your credit card/debit card/HSA card/etc. and they just charge your scripts to the card on file. You take a pic of your ID and load it in so they don't need to ask for it. Everything is seamless and handled online. They even have a really responsive chat feature through the app, and they respond within a matter of minutes. The best part is their free delivery - you can get your scripts delivered to your home or work, free of charge. Their delivery range is huge - they go all the way to Boulder, Aurora, etc. I stopped in to pick up my Rx and they packaged it up with a chewy caramel. Nice touch. The pharmacist was extremely friendly, too. A medication that cost me $50 with my insurance at the big W pharmacy cost me $6 with my insurance at Alto. Check them out. This place rocks.

Then, my first prescription refill was needed, and they told me there was a shortage (I was aware) and there was no date in sight to get it. Unhelpful. Sorted that out by going elsewhere. Thought I'd give them another chance with another prescription refill. This one needed a prior authorization. I requested it several weeks before I would run out to give time to navigate these hiccups. I was traveling internationally for a few weeks and came back with no communication. I texted them to check and they let me know the prescriptions were ready for pick up. I went to pick them up and the one prescription was still being charged as self-pay/out of pocket for $1k. When I asked, they said it still never got the prior auth. They also had my number incorrect, which would explain why they were not proactive at telling me what was available for pick or up not. Now I'm about to run out of my asthma medication and have no resolution in sight due to the lack of communication. Overall: communication was terrible, service not much better considering all the issues I was up against. Some of that is not their fault, but they didn't handle it very well either. I've transferred my prescriptions back to my last pharmacy.

I get that having to deal with people everyday can be tough, but choose another profession if you're that unhappy. I've also heard the pharmacy staff treat all kinds of people like crap during past visits to the store... Maybe management should read the reviews, can't imagine the store and/or pharmacy manager are proud.... That said, the general store employees are always friendly and helpful.

My doctor tried calling and gave up. I even called the customer service desk twice and they said they were letting the pharmacist know that they needed to get my call and I still got hung up on both times. I have an extremely busy full time job in customer service as well, and I stay late at the office because of the time I waste at work trying to call Walgreens. This abysmal lack of service would never ever fly at any place I've ever been employed.
